CHAPTER 9
CROSSOVER

Kamon had left Celedon City after he blew all of his cash at the slot machines in the Game Corner.  He decided that the next closest gym was in Fuchia City, a little south of Celedon.  After that, he might be able to get to Pewter City or Viridain City by Surfing from Cinnibar Island.  He had rented a bike to go down Cycling Road, a downhill slope that would take him to Fuchia in no time.  He was having a good time riding until a trainer named Erik stopped him for a Pokémon battle.  He had orange hair and was dressed in a green t-shirt and was wearing blue jeans.  His hair was spiked up, and one of the legs of the jeans, around the knee, was torn.
"You look easy," he said, grinning.  "But I'll tell you, I'm no rookie."
Kamon also grinned.  "Neither  am I, Erik.  Corsola, go!"
"Ha, I can take a Corsola.  Kangaskhan, go!"  Erik threw a Pokéball into the grass, and from it emerged a large, brown Pokémon, that loosely resembled a kangaroo.  It was bulky, and so Kamon assumed that it had a prett decent defense.  It also had a pouch with a baby Kangaskhan sitting inside.  "Kangaskhan, Thunder!" he told his Normal-type Pokémon.  Kangaskhan let out a loud roar, and then a lightning boly fell from the sky and struck Corsola.
"Corsola, Earthquake!" Kamon said.  Corsola did a small flip and then slammed onto the ground, making it rumble.  Kangaskhan barely noticed this.
"Kangaskhan, finish it with a Thunderbolt!" Erik said.
"Corsola, block it!  Mirror Coat!"  Corsola blasted the attack back at Kangaskhan, knocking it off its feet.  "Great.  Now, finish it with Ice Beam!"
"No!  Kangaskhan, Dizzy Punch!" Erik yelled.  Kangaskhan  punched Corsola, but it did little besides confusing it.  "Well, that's All right.  Kangaskhan, Reversal!"  The Fighting-type technique could possibly K.O. Corsola, but Kamon wasn't too worried.  Fortunatly, Reversal did not do too much damage.  Unfortunatly, Corsola hurt itself in its confusion, knocked itself out.
"Whoa, no way.  Corsola, come back," Kamon said, recalling his Water-and-Rock-type Pokémon.
"Heh, guess you're not the veteran Pokémon trainer you thought you were," Erik taunted.
"Oh, just you wait, Erik.  Just you wait…Now, I choose you!  Electabuzz!"  Kamon threw Electabuzz's yellow Ultra Ball into the small, grassy area they were playing in.  "Electabuzz, Seismic Toss!"  Electabuzz threw Kangaskhan down the slope, and it slammed onto the ground, tumbling down and then finally came to a stop by rolling into a rock.
"…Uhh…wow, that was rather…quick…Well, Kangaskhan, return," Erik said, stunned.  A small beam of red light came from his Pokéball and vaporized the K.O. Pokémon.  "Black Blaze, go!"  This time, the black Pokémon known as Houndoom emeged.  "Black Blaze, Sunny Day!"
"Black Blaze is your Houndoom's nickname, huh?  Well, Electabuzz, counter-attack him with Dynamic Punch!"  Electabuzz punched Houndoom, and with a huge explosion, he was almost knocked out.
"Yikes.  Uhh…Black Blaze, Fire Blast!"  A wall of fire bursted from Houndoom's mouth, and struck Electabuzz, burning but not doing nearly as much damage as he thought it would.
"Hehehe.  You thought that Fire Blast was going to do some major damage, didn't you, Erik?  I have only fought one other Houndoom before, Karen's.  And it was a shiny Houndoom.  So, not only was it just being an Elite Four's Pokémon make it hard enough, but since it was shiny, its stats were slightly higher than a regular Houndoom's stats would be.  And, Erik, I don't think your Houndoom is as strong as Karen's.  So, I wouldn't expect to win this battle very easily," Kamon said.  After his speech was over, he continued the battle.  "All right, Electabuzz, Spark, now!"  A jolt of electricity shocked Houndoom, and almost made it faint.  Electabuzz was hurt by poison, but was by no means defeated.
"Black Blaze, one last attack!  Crunch!" Erik said.  My Pokémon might not be as tough as Karen's, Erik thought, but I'm going to give you a run for your money.  He was sure that Crunch would give Kamon's Electabuzz a fair amount of damage before he was knocked out.  Houndoom chomped down on Electabuzz, critical hit, and knocking it out.
"You got lucky, kid," Kamon said.  This was the first time he had ever called someone 'kid.'  "Electabuzz, return.  Golem, go!"  Kamon quikly retaliated with Golem's Earthquake attack.  This, knocking out Houndoom, caused Erik to change Pokémon.
"No, my Black Blaze!  Oh…return.  All right.  Typhlosion, go!"
"A…Typhlosion?" Kamon wondered.  This is the first time he had ever battled the powerful Fire-type Pokémon.  Unfortunatly for Erik, Kamon knew all of Typhlosion's capabilities, and therefore put Erik at a disadvantage.
"Typhlosion, Iron Tail, now!"
"Protect, Golem, and then Rock Slide!" Kamon commanded.  Golem deflected the Steel attack, and then hurled stones at Typhlosion.  "Great job.  Now, finish it with Earthquake!"  The ground shook and craked, and knocked Typhlosion out.
"No…another one down…well, Typhlosion, come back.  It's your turn, Scizor!  Steel Wing!"  Scizor dove at Golem, and struck him with its iron-hard wings.
"Golem, Fire Blast!" Kamon said.  He had battled Jet's Scizor a lot, along with Jasmine's more advanced and better trained Scizor.  The flames overwhelmed Scizor, and the attack was almost a one-hit K.O., except that Scizor hung on with the Focus Band.
"Yippee!  Scizor, I knew you wouldn't go down so easily.  Now, attack it with Metal Claw!"  Scizor's special attack, Metal Claw, was a critical hit, and did surprisingly a lot of damage.
"Finish it, Golem.  Mega Punch!"  Golem jabbed at Scizor, unsuccesfully a couple of times because of Scizor's speed, but finally managed to get a punch in, finishing the Bug-and-Steel-type Pokémon off.  "Good job, Golem!  Only three more Pokémon to go," Kamon said.
"No…Scizor, come back.  Ok, Azumarill, it's your turn!"  Erik threw another Pokéball into the grass, and another one of Kamon's Pokémon came out.  A former Pokémon, Kamon thought.  "Azumarill, Whirlpool attack!"  A wave of water came from behind Azumarill, and encircled Golem.  The continuous damage knocked out Golem.
"Golem, you can rest," Kamon said.  He pulled out another Ultra Ball.  "Delibird, go!  Use Present!"  Delibird produced a small, glowing white ball from his bag, and threw it at Azumarill.  There was an explosion, and Azumarill was knocked off its feet.
"Azumarill, Rollout attack!"  Azumarill curled up into a ball and then rolled over Delibird.  Azumarill continued to roll around, and slammed into Delibird.
"Cut his battling life short, Delibird.  Powder Snow, now!"
"Ha, you have got to be kidding!  Powder Snow is the weakest Ice attack," Erik said.
"Heh, just you wait," Kamon responded.  Delibird blew small snowflakes at Azumarill, and froze it.  "Told ya," Kamon said.
"No…you are remarkably strong, Kamon.  Azumarill, come back.  Now, Raichu, its your turn to attack!  Use Zap Cannon!"  A ball of electricity was blasted at Delibird, and when it struck him, and huge zap of voltage went through Delibird, and paralyzed it.
"No!  Delibird, come back!  I'll save you for later.  Umbreon, go!  Use Mud-Slap!"  Mud was kicked at Raichu, lowering his accuracy and doing double-damage.  "Good.  Now, Quick Attack!"
"Raichu, Thunderbolt!" Erik said.  A bolt of electricity struck Umbreon, but did not do as much as Erik thought it would, but at the same time did more then Kamon thought it would.  "Now, Spark!"
"Umbreon, finish it with Hyper Beam!" Kamon yelled.  A gold beam of energy was shot at Raichu, obliterating the shock of his Electric-type attack, and stricking him, knocking him out.
"No!!  My Raichu!  No…return.  Arrgh!  Darn it, I lost," Erik said gloomily.  His face turned red with tenision.
"Hey, calm down," Kamon said, "I've lost some before, too.  You'll win a lot of battles with the team you have."  Kamon and Erik shook hands, and then seperated.  Kamon then headed south to Fuschia City.
