Becoming

Hey guys! This is my first fic with a pokemon battle, so please forgive me if I get some 
moves or sequences screwed up. Also, there may be some made-up moves in here, so 
bear with me! Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own pokemon. It can't be said even better.

Ash looked up. There in front of him, were his two best human friends in the world, 
Misty and Brock.

"Just relax, don't worry, you will be fine, you can beat him," Misty told Ash.

"She's right. He might've beaten you before, but that was only a pokemon battle for fun. 
This time, you guys are playing for much higher stakes." Brock reminded him.

Ash had just defeated the Elite Four, but he soon found out that Gary had defeated the 
Elite Four one day before him. Because of the rules, to decide who was the master, Ash 
and Gary had to battle each other. Today was the day, and the match would start in 5 
minutes. Ash hadn't wanted to sleep last night because he wanted to train, but Misty had 
insisted that he get some rest.

"It will help you tomorrow. Trust me," she had said.

"Ash Ketchum, will you please come out of the locker rooms so we can begin the 
match." the intercom rang.

"We're sure you will win, Ash," Brock said.

"Yup. Good luck. Not that you will need it." Misty added in.

Ash walked out into the stadium.

"Ready to lose, Ash?" Gary sneered.

"You're gonna be the one who will lose," Ash shouted back.

"Each combatant will be using 6 pokemon. You may both recall your pokemon, but you 
will not be able to send them out later. First one to reach zero pokemon loses. Begin!" the 
referee called out.

*BATTLE SEQUENCE ON*

Gary took out a pokeball and kissed it. "Go Arcanine!"

"In that case, go Pidgeot!" Ash yelled. "Pidgeot, Whirlwind attack!"

"Arcanine dodge and then Fire Blast!" Arcanine successfully dodged the whirlwind 
attack and launched a fire attack in the shape of a star.

"Pidgeot, fly higher into the sky!" Pidgeot flew higher and the fire blast missed. "Now, 
Dive Bomb!" Pidgeot tucked in his wings and dived down, going at such high speeds that 
a bright light started to surround Pidgeot. Gary didn't know what to do as Arcanine 
waited for an order.

"Dodge it, Arcanine!" But it was too late. Pidgeot plowed right into Arcanine, causing it 
to faint.

"Grr…Arcanine, return! Go, Houndoom!" Gary shouted. "Flamethrower!"

"Pidgeot, use your gust to blow it away!" But Pidgeot was very tired from using Dive 
Bomb, and the Gust attack wasn't strong enough to blow the flames away. Pidgeot was 
hit dead on and immediately fainted.

"You did good, Pidgeot, return." Ash took out another pokeball. "Go, Blastoise!"

"It would seem that Ash has a type-advantage on Gary," the commentator stated.

"Come on Ash, you can do it. You believe that, right, Brock?" Misty asked. She looked 
around and saw Brock flirting with Nurse Joy a couple of seats away. Misty sighed and 
went over, apologizing to Nurse Joy while dragging him away.

"Ow, not the ear, not the ear!"

****** 

"Blastoise, do a spinning Hydro Pump!" Blastoise ducked into his shell and began to spin 
around while firing water from it's cannons, causing the whole arena to be hit with the 
water. Houndoom had no way to dodge this, so it got hit by the water and fainted.

"Houndoom, return! Go, Venusaur! Charge up for a Solar Beam, but don't let it go!" 
Gary shouted. Venusaur charged up, but didn't fire the Solar Beam. "Vine whip, 
Venusaur!"

"Blastoise, withdraw!" the Vine Whip hit Blastoise, but his rock-hard shell protected 
him. "Now, skull bash!" Blastoise launched itself right at Venusaur as a white aura 
started to surround him.

"Solar Beam, now!" The beam hit Blastoise, but the power of the Skull Bash countered 
the attack. "Maximum power Solar Beam! Make it even stronger!"

Blastoise couldn't block the attack any longer, and was blown away by the sheer force of 
the attack. "Blastoise, return! Go Charizard! Fire spin now!" The fire dragon popped out 
of it's pokeball and began to surround Venusaur with flames.

"Hurry, use leech seed and then poison powder!" Venusaur shot a seed and some powder 
at Charizard, immediately draining it's powers. However, the burns from Charizard's 
attack also weakened Venusaur greatly. Both pokemon fainted.

"Go Nidoking! Charge up for a Hyper Beam!" Gary yelled out.

"In that case, go Snorlax! Use your own Hyper Beam!" Both pokemon came out and shot 
their own attacks at one another. The strength of the attacks were equal.

"Come Nidoking, beat that poor excuse for a pokemon!"

"Snorlax, I know you can do it!"

Snorlax, inspired by it's trainer's words, searched deep inside itself and strengthened the 
Hyper Beam even more. The Hyper Beam was too strong for Nidoking, and Nidoking 
was hit dead-on, causing it to faint.

"Argh…return! Go Alakazam, use confusion!" Alakazam came out and used the attack, 
confusing Snorlax.

"Snorlax, snap out of it! Use rest!" Snorlax began to fall asleep.

"Oh no you don't! Alakazam, use another Confusion before it falls asleep!" Alakazam 
quickly used the attack and Snorlax fainted from exhaustion.

"You did good, pal. Come on in and take a rest. Go Venusaur!"

"Both trainers are at two pokemon each," the commentator said on the speakers.

"Boy, this match is getting close," Misty said worriedly.

"Don't worry, Ash will win," Brock assured.

"You're right. I just need to have confidence in him. I mean, he didn't make it this far for 
nothing, right?" Misty asked.

"Right," Brock confirmed.

****** 

"Venusaur, use Razor Leaf!" Ash shouted.

"Alakazam, barrier!" Alakazam formed a shield around itself, protecting it from the sharp 
leaves that Ash's Venusaur had fired.

"Do a Vine Whip, Venusaur!" Venusaur's vines started to come out.

"Alakazam, use Mind Burn!" Alakazam's eyes glowed red, and Venusaur immediately 
stopped it's attack and started to moan and kneel in pain.

"What kind of attack is this?" Ash said to himself. He didn't know anything to do to 
counter this attack, so he did the only thing possible to help his pokemon. "Return!"

Venusaur was sucked back into it's pokeball. "Nice try." He looked at the small rodent-
like pokemon next to him. He nodded. "You know I choose you, buddy."

"Pika!" Pikachu ran up to the field.

"Ha! That Pikachu? I'll beat it just like I did before! Alakazam, Mind Burn!" Alakzam's 
eyes started to glow red.

"Pikachu, Quick Attack it before it can launch the attack!" Pikachu nodded it's head once 
before sprinting to Alakazam and colliding into it at high speeds. Alakazam immediately 
stopped it's attack.

"Grr, Alakazam, Psychic!" Gary shouted.

"Pikachu, use agility and jump over the psychic waves!"

"Pika!" In a seemingly-impossible way, Pikachu jumped over the attack and was soaring 
through the air.

"Pikachu, now use Lightning Slash!" Pikachu flew down and swiped it's paw at 
Alakazam, allowing thousands of bolts of electricity flow through his arm as he did so.

Alakazam fainted from the power of the attack.

"Amazing! What an attack!" the commentator exclaimed. "Both of our competitors are at 
one Pokemon each!

"Return! So, you actually made it this far, Ashy-boy. Well, too bad, since you'll lose 
anyways! Go, pokeball!" Gary yelled. A jet-black Umbreon came out of the pokeball. 
"Faint Attack!"

"Pikachu, concentrate hard. When you see it coming for you, jump into the air and get 
ready for a Flying Thunder."

Umbreon disappeared into thin air. A split second before Umbreon struck, Pikachu 
noticed it's shadow and jumped into the air.

"Pika!" Pikachu fired a Thunderbolt into the air and a Thunder came down.

"Umbreon! Use agility to get out of there!" Umbreon successfully dodged the oncoming 
threat. "Now, use Hyper Beam!"

Energy began to gather at Umbreon's mouth as it prepared to launch it's attack.

"Pikachu, prepare a Thunder Bomb, but don't use it. When it fires the Hyper Beam, use 
Quick Attack!" Pikachu gathered it's energy and a large sphere of electricity began to 
appear. Pikachu than forced the energy with it's mind into the ground. As Umbreon fired 
it's attack, Pikachu dodged it and used Quick Attack, forcing it to the ground.

"Use Thunder Wave so it can't get away!" Pikachu fired electrical waves at Umbreon, 
instantly paralyzing all the muscles in it's body. "Now, use Thunder Bomb!"

Gary watched in horror as electricity came out of the ground below Umbreon, shocking it 
with enough power to light the whole stadium. When the smoke cleared, Pikachu was on 
top of the fainted Umbreon, making the 'peace sign' with it's fingers.

"Pikachu! You did it! We won! All of us!" Ash shouted as the rest of his weakened but 
spirited pokemon came out of their pokeballs. He hugged each and every one of them.

Gary returned Umbreon and walked out of the stadium with his head hung low. His 
cheerleading squad was silent as they threw away their pom-poms and walked away, 
completely ditching Gary.

Misty and Brock ran up to Ash on the field.

"I knew you could win, Ash!" Misty exclaimed happily while giving him a tight hug.

"All right man, you did it!" Brock said, slapping his hand on his back.

"I couldn't have done it without you two."

"Will the league champion Ash Ketchum please come to the stage." the commentator 
said. Ash walked over and the referee handed him a shiny trophy.

As millions of fans cheered, Ash held up his trophy.

"Ash! Wake up! You're going to be late for your match with Gary!" Misty yelled. Ash 
fell off the bed.

"But I already beat him!" he said.

"Are you crazy, Ash? Now get your lazy butt into the bathroom and wash up! Breakfast 
is going to be ready soon, and if you don't hurry Gary's going to win by default!" Misty 
scolded.

Ash trudged into the bathroom, confused with all that had happened.

'It was all…a dream?'
