Viridian Troubles Chris pelted down the streets and alleys of Viridian City. He could feel the Pokemon that were in his arms grow limper and limper by the second. He had to hurry. Finally, he burst through the Pokemon Center’s doors. Running up to the nurse at the desk, he panted, “My Pokemon need help, now!” The nurse took one look at Charmander, Pichu and Pikachu and called, “Blissey! We have a medical emergency!” A large pink Pokemon came running from the staff room with a stretcher. As the Pokemon loaded the three patients onto the stretcher, Chris took out his Pokedex to check out the new arrival. “Blissey,” his Pokedex announced, “Is a pink and fluffy Pokemon. Evolved form of the rare species of Chansey, Blissey is a good friend and a hard worker.” When Blissey had disappeared with the now full stretcher into the Emergency Room, the nurse turned to Chris. “What happened?” she asked. “Some wild Spearows and Fearows started to attack us,” Chris replied, looking at the Emergency Room doors, “I tried to protect them.” “You’ve got a nasty bash on your head,” the nurse said, concerned, indicating the bloody cut Chris had received from an underwater rock while he was trapped in the river. “It’s nothing. Just take care of my Pokemon!” “Alright, but if you need anything, come and find me. My name’s Nurse Joy. Go and get some fresh air and relax while we take care of your Pokemon.” Ash came into Chris’s mind, and he decided to go look for him. “Alright.” He said, and he left the Center. Chris walked down the street. Eventually he passed a small shop. Then two robbers came out of the shop, carrying guns. “Out of our way!” they growled through their balaclavas, “This is a robbery.” “You don’t say.” Chris muttered, backing away from the shop, along with other bystanders. As the robbers backed away in the opposite direction, Chris saw the shop owner come out of the shop. He saw the shop owner spot the robbers and lunge at them. “I need that money!” he cried. There was a single gunshot, and the robbers ran away, followed by several people of the public, shouting furiously at them. Chris rushed to the side of the fallen shop owner. The man had a hole in his shoulder where the bullet had grazed him. Blood was spurting out at an alarming rate. The man groaned. Chris put his hand on the wound, putting pressure on it. The man yelped. “This will help,” Chris said quickly. “Get off!” the shop owner exclaimed, “That hurts!” “It’ll help.” “It hurts!” “Look, this will- what the bloody hell!?” Chris had moved his hand and saw no wound on the man’s shoulder. Removing his hand completely, Chris saw, disbelievingly, that the wound had disappeared. “I say,” the shop owner whispered, “How did you do that? You just touched me and- how did you do that?” Chris was speechless. He got up off his knees and walked away without saying a word. Five minutes later, while Chris pondered what the hell had just happened, heard the Town’s Intercom system announce, “The two robbers who raided the supply shop five minutes ago have been arrested-“ a cheer swept the town, “Yet there has been sightings of a threesome who are causing dangerous trouble in the town. Therefore, while police investigate, we advise all of the general public to stay indoors this evening.” “Just my luck,” Chris muttered, “More trouble. I may as well just go back to the Pokemon Center.” And forgetting about the events with the shop owner, Chris began walking back to the Pokemon Center. Above a building nearby, a man, a woman and a cat Pokemon known as Meowth were talking. “Ready to go?” the man asked. “Yep,” the woman replied, “Let’s go!” “Oooh, this is gonna be fun!” Meowth exclaimed. Emergency! Sitting in the waiting room in the Pokemon Center was one of the most boring experiences Chris had ever had to endure. There were only a few metal chairs, a small table with some girl magazines on it (‘Heat’ being one of them. Uggghh…) and a small light on the ceiling. Chris noticed a phone on the wall, but he didn’t feel like calling anyone, especially not his mum. Or Professor Oak. What would they say if they found about the day’s events? It made his stomach churn. He groaned. He suddenly heard a commotion in the reception area. He ignored it for the first few seconds, then heard a voice that made him break out in a sweat. “HE DESTROYED MY BLOODY BIKE! WHERE THE HELL IS HE!” “He’s in the waiting room,” Chris heard Nurse Joy say in a small voice, “But he’s just had a rather traumatic experience-Hey! Don’t go in there!” Chris looked desperately around the room for escape, but Misty had already entered the Waiting Room, her melted bike on her shoulders. She glared at him for a few minutes, muttering several swear words, then threw her bike to the floor. “WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY BIKE!!!???” she exploded, spraying spit all over him. “Charmander used a fire attack to-” “SHUT UP! I HOPE YOU’VE GOT 500 QUID, BECAUSE YOU’RE PAYING FOR ANOTHER ONE, MATE!!!” Nurse Joy entered the room. She threw Misty a dirty look , then said to Chris, “You’re Pokemon have woken up now. They have been fully revived.” Chris couldn’t contain his joy. He jumped up, a broad grin on his face, and ran out of the Waiting Room, past a bewildered Misty, into the Pokemon Recovery Room. “That bloody-” Misty began, but Nurse Joy glared at her, and Misty glared back. An hour later, Chris returned to the Waiting Room, saying, “They’re just resting right now. Huh?” He noticed Nurse Joy and Misty still glaring at each other. “How long have you two been like that?” he asked incredulously. “What time is it?” Nurse Joy asked him through gritted teeth. Chris checked the clock on the wall. “Yeesh, 10 o’clock.” “10 o’cloc-Oh no! I’ve got patients to see!” and with that she ran out of the room, leaving Chris and Misty alone. “Eh, so….” Chris said uneasily. Misty turned towards him. She looked like she was going to strangle him. And she probably would have done, if Ash hadn’t suddenly entered the Center. When they saw each other, Chris and Ash just looked at each other. “I thought you’d be here.” Ash said gruffly. “Where the hell have you been, you moody idiot!” Chris shouted. Ash shrugged, shyly. “Around.” He replied, “Where’s Pikachu?” “Recovering from an attack from a wild Pokemon.” Chris said angrily, “Along with Charmander and Pichu!” Ash’s face went blank. “I- I’m sorry.” He muttered. “They could’ve died!” Chris exclaimed. “I’ll make it up to you.” Ash said hurriedly, “Is there anything I can do?” “Yeah, there is actually.” Chris said, looking from Ash to Misty, then back to Ash. “Have you got 500 Poke Dollars?” Flames exploded out of nowhere above them, followed by rubble and smoke. The rubble smashed into the floor, one bit narrowly missing Chris by a few inches. “RUN!” Ash yelled. Grabbing Misty, Chris followed Ash into the Recovery Room. Once they were inside, Chris kicked the door shut. “This really hasn’t been my day!” Chris said shakily. Nurse Joy was returning the recovering Pokemon into theie Pokeballs. “You alright?” she asked briskly. Chris nodded. “What’s going on?” Misty shrieked. “Pokemon Stealers.” Nurse Joy replied. Chris took Ash over to the stretcher that Charmander, Pikachu and Pichu were on. “Pikachu, Ash’s here.” Chris said, “You need to work together. We may have to fight our way out.” Chris turned to his Pokemon. “Same goes to you two. Pichu, I know you shock yourself when you use an electrical attacks, so try to stick with normal attacks.” Pichu nodded, confidently. “Charmander, use your full power.” Charmander let out a few sparks from his mouth and growled. He nodded. “Good boy!” Chris said happily. Nurse Joy activated a computer on the wall and spoke into a microphone. “Viridian calling Pewter City. Pewter, come in please. We have an Emergency. I require an immediate transfer with all the Pokemon in the Center.” A voice crackled from the screen. “Ready to transfer. Go right ahead.” “Transferring now!” Nurse Joy said, pressing a button. To Chris, Ash and Misty’s amazement, all the Pokeballs in the room started to disappear in a flash of light. Suddenly, the door burst open and smoke poured in. “Prepare for Trouble!” a woman’s voice said. “Make it Double!” a man’s voice said. “What’s this?” Chris asked Ash, who shrugged, puzzled.
