BOOM!!! Ash was brutaly awakened early in the morning. He looked up and saw Lewis holding two cymbals and Misty beside him. Pikachu was also at the foot of his bed looking at him evilly.

“Why’d yah guys get me up so early?” Ash asked.

“Three months till the Johto League!” Lewis said.

“And…?” Ash asked.

Lewis simply took out a small bag from his pocket and opened it. He took out the contents of the bag and laid them on ash’s bed. They were eight Johto League badges.

“Because I’m in the Johto League as well,” Lewis said simply, gathered up his badges and walked out of the room.

“So get up lazy bum!” Misty said and walked out as well. Ash just blinked his eyes repeatedly and got up.

“Hope you like pancakes!” Ash heard from the kitchen. At first he didn’t believe the voice but when he walked into the kitchen he saw Brock at the stove cooking. Karen was there as well frying bacon.

“Brock! You’re here!” Ash said and walked up to his friend.

“Yup. I came to help you with your training,” Brock said.

“I keep telling him pancakes taste better with a little more flour but he won’t believe me. So don’t blame me if they’re bad!” Karen said to Ash as she took the bacon off the frying pan.

“That’s okay. Brock’s a great cook!” Ash said.

“And so am I!” Karen said back and brought the bacon to the table.

“Hey where’s my mom?” Ash asked.

“She muttered something about Celadon and shopping or what of the over, left with some suitcases and Mr. Mime in a taxi. She gave me this note but I can’t read it,” misty said and handed Ash the note. Ash looked at it and instantly knew what his mom had meant.

“She’s going on her biannual shopping spree at Celadon!” Ash declared.

“How long will that take?” Brock asked.

“Depends. Once she was gone for a month,” Ash answered.

“Shortest?” Lewis asked.

“Back early the next day,” Ash answered.

“Well hurry up and eat! You and me have training to do!” Lewis said and ate his food quickly and ran outside, Charmander following him.

“Right!” Ash said and ate his food just as quickly if not quicker.

“We’ll begin by testing your Pokemon’s strength,” Lewis answered. They were in a clearing of the woods not far from Ash’s house.

“How?” Ash asked.

Misty whapped Ash over the head. “With a Pokemon battle stupid!” she said.

“Oh right,” Ash said and rubbed his head.

“I choose you Ivysaur!” Lewis said and his plant pokemon came out ready to fight.

“Cyndaquil can take care of Ivysaur! Go!” Ash yelled and his Fire Pokemon came out ready to fight.

“Flamethrower!” Ash yelled and Cyndaquil fired flames at Ivysaur.

“Use Sand Attack!” Lewis yelled.

“I didn’t know plant Pokemon could use Sand Attack,” Brock said as Ivysaur whipped up some sand with his vines. The sand put out the flames

“Now use Leech Seed!” Lewis said. A seed came from Ivysaur’s back and attached itself to Cyndaquil.

“Finish it with Toxic!” Lewis said and badly poisoned Cyndaquil.

“Return!” Ash said and brought Cyndaquil back into it’s Pokeball.

“Now go Noctowl!” Ash yelled and his owl Pokemon swooped around the clearing.

“Return Ivysaur! Go Pidgeot!” Lewis yelled and his bird Pokemon appeared from his Pokeball and growled at Noctowl.

“Confusion Noctowl!” Ash said and Noctowl hit Pidgeot with the physic attack.

“Use Wing Attack!” Lewis commanded and Pidgeot swooped down at Noctowl and hit him hard.

“Use Hypnosis!” Ash yelled and Noctowl put Pidgeot to sleep.

“Looks like I win this round,” Ash said.

“It’s not over till it’s over. Use Sleep Talk Pidgeot!” Lewis said and still sleeping Pidgeot turned his head toward Noctowl and hit him with a powerful Hyper Beam attack.

“Sleep Talk?” Ash said out loud.

“Sleep Talk allows the Pokemon to randomly use one of it’s moves while sleeping,” Karen told Ash.

“Oh. Return Noctowl! Go Totodile!” Ash said and his water pokemon came out ready to rumble.

“Return Noctowl! I choose you Umbreon!” Lewis yelled and Umbreon came out.

“(Time to show these kids how to really battle!)” Umbreon said and took and stance facing Totodile.

“Use Water Gun!” Ash said and Totodile took a deep breath and shot a gush of water at Umbreon who retaliated with Agility.

“Good Umbreon! Now use Faint Attack!” Lewis said and Umbreon hit Totodile pretty hard.

“Finish it with Crunch!” Lewis siad and Umbreon bit Totodile and he fainted.

“Umbreon’s my second strongest Pokemon! Did you think you could defeat her with Totodile?” Lewis said as Umbreon leapt back to his side.

“Well try Bayleef on for size!” Ash said and Bayleef appeared from her Pokeball.

“Go Warturtle!” Lewis said and his water pokemon came out ready to rumble.

“Warturtle? Warturle’s a water pokemon. I have the advantage!” Ash said thinking this match would be an easy win.

“We’ll see about that! Use Blizzard!” Lewis said and Warturtle hit Bayleef hard and knocked her out.

“What!” Ash yelled and recalled Bayleef.

“It’s true that Bayleef had the type advantage their but Warturle knows some Ice attacks, which are super effective against grass types,” Lewis said recalling his Warturtle.

“Geez Ash has lost before but never nearly as bad as this!” Misty said to Brock.

“Hey who’s side are you on any how?” Ash yelled turning around to face Misty.

“Ash! Your next pokemon!” Lewis yelled to Ash.

“Oh right. Go Bulbasaur!” Ash said and his other plant pokemon appeared from his Pokeball.

“Jolteon show them what you’re made of!” Lewis yelled and his newest addition to the team came out.

“I wonder where Lewis got Jolteon any how,” Karen said.

“Use Pin Missile!” Lewis yelled and Jolteon hit Bulbasuar with the pins.

“Use Razor Leaf Bulbasaur!” Ash yelled and Bulbasaur fired leaves at Jolteon.

“Use Reflect!” Lewis said and Jolteon only took a little damage.

“Finish it off! Use Take Down!” Lewis said and Jolteon hit Bulbasaur knocking him out.

“Go Pikachu!” Ash yelled and Pikachu jumped forward.

“Charmander go,” Lewis said.

“I’ll make this better Ash! I bet I can defeat your Pikachu in only two moves. If I don’t then you win this whole match,” Lewis said.

“What’s Lewis thinking? He won all those other matches,” Brock asked.

“Fine! Pikachu use Agility!” Ash said and Pikachu began to run around.

“Use Lock-On Charmander!” Lewis said and Charmander kept focused on Pikachu.

“Keep using Agility!” Ash said.

“Finish it! Use Fissure!” Lewis yelled and Charmander pounded the ground making an immense amount of energy fly towards Pikachu. Pikachu swerved and jumped but the Fissure kept following.

“Fissure’s no supposed to be that accurate!” Ash said as Pikachu was hit for a one hit KO.

“When Lock-On is used the next move will never miss,” Brock said as Ash picked up Pikachu.

“So with that combo of Lock-On then Fissure…” Ash said trailing off.

“It’d be hard to lose,” Brock finished for him.

“I knew Lewis was a powerful Pokemon trainer but this is…” Misty said, a lost for words.

“I’m going to have to train hard if I’m going to want to defeat him.

And so Ash and Lewis trained trained for the Johto League. Christmas came and went and soon the Johto League was about to begin. Everyone was at the Johto League entrance, awaiting the next challenges.
