Hello! This took me forever to write. Of course it did! I had a busted up index finger! (Don't ask.) I had to type this with my left hand. That should explain any errors. Send questions or comments my way, at: pamcam@sprint.ca Now, the disclaimer: Ah-Hem! "Pokemon never has, and never will, ever belong to me." There's a little point I'd like to make her: some nut, who shall remain nameless, told me Ash's Charizard was a female, so I kept it that way, and that's how I wrote 'her' into this chapter. I hope none of you mind. Now sit back and enjoy the story. Casey shivered. The weather was turning cold, and Sheila had long since entered her pokeball. Morgan put his arms around her, trying to keep her warm. Cody watched jealously. "I wish I had someone to keep me warm!" he said, miffed, tossing his blond ponytail over his shoulder. "Well, Morgan can keep you warm, while I ride on Dewgong!" Casey snickered, brandishing the pokeball that contained her newest catch. "Hey!" Morgan protested. "I was just kidding!" Casey snorted."Here, use this!" She tossed a sweater to Cody. "Thanks." "At least you're wearing long pants!" Morgan sniffed. He was wearing khaki shorts, and starting to catch a cold, and that made him upset and bitter. "Here, Morgan." Casey said kindly, handing him a pair of green track pants. "Put them on over your shorts. They're made of fleece, and should keep you warm, until we get to where we're going. Where ever that is." Lapras answered, speaking through their minds. "Why are we going, Lapras?" "I agree. But how much longer?" It wasn't long at all, but it was enough time to see herds of Seel and Dewgong, Garydos and Lapras, Dratini, Dragonaire, and Dragonite. Casey forgot how cold she was, and was content just watching the magical-looking Pokemon. The Garydos fasinated her. "THOSE are Garydos?!" she cried disgustedly."They look like they were beaten with an ugly stick!!!" Morgan chuckled, amused. Casey, Morgan, and Cody looked up. It was an icy waste land. Casey's eyebrow twiched. "What are we getting ourselves into?" she asked, in a disbelieving mutter. They would soon find out. "Dewgong! Ice beam! Sheila, thunder bolt!" "Arbok, poison sting!" "Charmander! Ember!" "Wheezing! Poison gas attack!" "Raichu! Thunder shock!" "Lapras, ice beam! Jynx, lovely kiss!" These were the sounds that rang out over the ice covered battle field. "Meowth, get in there and scratch them!" "Dewgong! Make a frozen Meowth-sickle out of that cat!" But the cat had other plans. Holding up a large icycle, Meowth deflected it, sending the beam towards Casey, who promptly ducked. "Crud!" she yelled."Dewgong, body slam!" "Meowwwww!!!" "Hee-hee! Flat cat!" "Flat cat indeed! I'll show you, you little slut!" Meowth screeched, raking his claws across Casey's face. Crying out, she attracted the attention of a certain Pokemon, one of Santa's pets. "Char!!!" it screamed, running infront of Casey, arms and wings extended, eyes burning with rage. Flames started to build in its mouth. "Uh oh!" Meowth said nervously. "Ch-arrr-iiizzz-aarrrddd!!!" it yelled, blasting the trio to Tahiti. (Or close to it.) The Charizard picked Casey up, and cuddled her to his chest. "Char-char-char!" it declared. Roughly translated, he ment 'You're really cute!' "Charizard, you can put Casey down now." Santa said, patting its arm. Grumbling, Charizard obeyed, but looked longingly at the row of pokeballs on Casey's waist. Santa noticed, and returned Charizard to its pokeball. "Wait here a moment, please." Santa muttered. He walked off, leaving Morgan, Cody, and a scratched, bloody Casey, sitting with the Pokemon. Moments later, Santa returned with four packages. He gave one to Casey, one to Morgan, one to Cody, and the last to Sheila. "These are your christmas presents. I'm giving you them early because you have been good children-" "Pika!" "And Pokemon." Santa added, chuckling."Lapras, make sure they get back to where you and Jynx found them, safely." Lapras slid backwards over the ice, and back into the icy water. "That was really weird!" Morgan declared, happy to be in a warmer climate. "Yeah, but it was fun." Casey shrugged. "How does your face feel?" "Okay, I guess. At least I don't have any scars. And I thought that stuff only works on Pokemon." she replied, pointing to the bottle of Pokemon medicine in Morgan's hand. "Guess not." "Hey, Casey! I think that Charizard had a crush on you!" Cody teased. He recieved a blow from Casey's mallet. "Oh, look. Pidgeys...!" Cody muttered. Walking into the Pokemon centre, Casey found herself in her fathers arms. "Dad!" she squeeked, surprised."What're you doing here?" "You missed us, remember. Though your mother couldn't come." "How'd you get here? How'd you know to come to Nerissa?" "I came on Charizard. And Joy phoned us." Ash kissed the top of Casey's head gently, dropped his back pack on the floor. Sheila scampered over, and sniffed the bag. It moved. Jumping back, Sheila squeeled, as Pikachu and Piki crawled out, tackling their youngest offspring. "Now," Ash continued."where'd you go in such a hurry?" "Would you believe the north pole, with a Lapras and a Jynx?" "Oh-!"Ash started."Yeah...I'd believe it. So, did Team Rock-head try to steal cristmas again?" "No, they were after the Jynx." "Piffle!" Ash snorted."That's nothing new!" Casey giggled, holding on tightly to her father. "I'm glad you came." she whispered. "Hm. In case you ever miss us this badly again, here's an early christmas present." Ash tried to keep a straight face as he handed her a phone card with a picture of their family taped on the back. Casey laughed. Morgan and Cody had been watching the whole thing from outside. "She seems happy." Cody comented. "Of course she is. Don't you ever miss your dad?" "Nope. What about you?" "Don't have one." Cody was shocked. "Your mom?" "Yeah, uh, no. Well, she was always too busy to take care of me anyways, so I don't really...you know." "Woah." Cody was taken aback."What kind of a mom is too busy for her own flesh and blood?!" "Officer Jenny from Pewter City. Who else?" "Your mom's a Jenny?" Morgan wrinkled his nose. "Yeah. She's not my real mom, though. I was adopted when I was two years old. Like I care!" "Tough, man." Cody patted Morgan's back."At least Casey and Sheila are happy." "Yeah." Inside, Casey tripped over her fathers back pack, dropping the package that had been in her hand. A pokeball rolled out and suddenly burst open. It was the Charizard! "Char char-iz-ard!" (Hey cu-u-tie!) it sang, licking her cheek. " 'Tis obvious you are a bit of a flirt, no?" Casey muttered. "Cool charizard, Bunny!" Ash exclaimed."He's a beauty! Where'd you get him?" "From Santa. He was supposed to be my christmas present, but I guess he couldn't wait." "Char char!" (No way!) "Hmm. Well, I've got to get going, Casey." Ash said, kissing her cheek. Stepping outside, he released his Charizard. Casey's took one look at Ash's Charizard, and decided 'Screw Casey, this Char has one fine bod!' and imediately began flirting. Ash's Charizard was completely flattered. What went on next, well, you can guess. Ash put his hands over Casey's eyes. "Charizard!" he groaned."Save it, will ya?" "Look, Char." Casey said,"If you wanna do that so bad, go with my dad. He breeds Pokemon in his spare time, and needs a mate for his Charizard. And, at least you wont be doing it in a public place." Morgan and Cody had watched, frozen, unable to turn away with fasinated horror, noticed a gawking crowd forming. "Alright, show's over!" Morgan shouted."The Mankey died!" "Get outa here!" Cody yelled. "Charizard, return!" Casey shouted, blinded by her fathers hands."Okay, you can let me see now, dad." She handed the pokeball to her father. "Take good care of him, dad." "Don't worry, I will." Ash replied, accepting the pokeball, and climbing onto his Charizards back, with Pikachu and Piki."Call us soon." "I will!" Casey called after her father."Bye, daddy!" "PiPiPi!" Pikachu and Piki shouted. "PiPiPi" Sheila yelled, standing on Casey's head, waving her arms. "Casey, did they HAVE to do THAT in the middle of the sidewalk?" Cody asked, his skin a nasty shade of green. Casey shrugged. "I dunno. They could've had the decencey to wait." "Merry christmas, Casey!" Casey opened her eyes. Morgan was kneeling beside her. Sitting up, she yawned. "Merry christmas, you guys." she greeted sleepily. Yawning again, she took in her suroundings. The forest clearing where they were camping out sparkled with sunlight reflecting off the morning dew on the grass. Casey stood, and stretched. "I might as well start breakfast." she yawned. "Oh, no you don't." Cody said, barring her way to the fire pit."I'm going to. You've been working to hard with your Pokemon lately. Sit down." "This is either going to really good, or really bad." Casey said, staring wide eyed as Cody set to work. it turned out that Cody was a five star cook, and his specialty was chocolate flavoured pancakes with cherry pie filling, and cinnamon toast. Morgan, Casey, and Sheila stared open mouthed. "Gee." Casey stated."I was just going to get us some Cap'n crunch cereal, and toast." "Hey, you deserve this." Cody answered. After a leisurely breakfast, Casey gave her friends the presents she had been hiding from them for the last week. "Whoah! Cool!" Cody exclaimed."The latest edition of Poke-fanatic, and a Thunder stone! Thank you, Casey!" "Your welcome, Cody." "A pokeball?" Morgan asked. Casey stiffled a laugh. "Don't be dense, Morgan. Look inside!" It was a Stamie. "This is great!" Morgan kissed Casey on the cheek."Thank you!" "Now you, Sheila." "Pi-pika-pi!" Sheila squeeled. It was a bottle of BBQ sauce. She had different tastes than her parents, and loved the stuff. The presents Cody gave them were cute and funny t-shirts. Casey a t-shirt that said 'Next mood swing: 6 minutes. (Please don't make me kill you.)'. Morgan's said Warning: I have an attitude and I know how to use it.'. Sheila had a tiny one that said 'And your point is...?'. Everyone cracked up. Morgan gave Sheila a box of Poke-snaps (like ginger snaps, only better!), and Cody an emboidered wrist band that said 'All stressed out and no one to choke'. Morgan hesitated, before he gave Casey hers. "Here Casey." Morgan said, blushing. He handed the package to Casey. She opened it carefulled, and stared at the contents. It was a beautiful necklace. The Water stone had been polished, and set in beautifuly etched silver. "Morgan..." she tried to find the right words."This must have cost you a fortune!" "Uh, no, not really. It was the Water stone I found. The setting wasn't too expensive, either. I have a friend back in Nerrisa who owed me a favor." Morgan frowned."Why? D-don't you like it?" "Oh! No! Nothing like that! I love it! Thank you!" Casey kissed Morgan, blushing. Three days later, they had made it to the next city. At the Pokemon center, nurse Joy waved Casey over. "Here, Casey." she said, handing her an envelope."Your dad sent this." "Thank you." Inside, was a note. 'Casey, call home as soon as you get this.' "Wonder what's up?" Casey muttered, picking up the phone. Punching in her home number, she waited for an answer. Her dad answered. "Bunny! I've got good news!" he shouted excitedly. "This could mean only one thing." "Exactly. You've got a little brother now!" "But isn't it a little early?" "Yes. Three months premature. He'll be okay, though." "When was he born, dad?" "Christmas morning. An unexpected present, huh?" "Oh yeah. What's his name?" "Jason Quinn. Cute?" "Very!" Casey squeeled, then lowered her voice."How's mom?" "She's fine. Tired, but fine. She's complaining that she's bored, and wants to go back to work." Ash replied with a grin, tugging on his hair (worn braided today). "Oh, before I forget." Casey put in."How are Pikachu and Piki?" "They're fine." "And the Charizards?" "Better than fine. They'll be expecting in about, oh say, five months?" "Cool!" "I gotta go, Bun. Bye!" "Bye, Dad!" Casey hung up, clamped a shaking hand over her mouth, and ran outside. Morgan, Cody, and Sheila could hear a loud scream of joy. Casey came back in,stiff with happiness. "What's the matter, Casey?" Morgan asked."Didja win the lottery?" "No! Nothing like that!" Casey cried happily. "Pika pi pi?" "Bingo!" "Pi!" "Yeah! I've got a brother!" "Y'do?" Morgan and Cody asked."Then-? When?" "Christmas morning!" Casey shouted."I'm a big sister! Yippy!" "Hey! That's great!" "And that's not all! My Charizard's going to be a father!" "Ooh! Double good news!" Cody smiled. "Oh yeah." Casey giggled."Now, I've got some stuff to do, so I'll see you guys later. 'Kay?" "What kind of stuff?" "Laundry, getting supplies for our Pokemon, ect. Y'know, stuff." "Okay. Don't let Team Rock-head push you around." "I won't. C'mon, Sheila." "Pika-pi!" Casey pulled on her 'Next mood swing: 6 minutes. (Please don't make me kill you.)' t-shirt and a short pink skirt, so she could wash the clothes she had been wearing. Tying back her long hair with a blue bandana, she set to work. "Gee, Sheila." she muttered."Don't these smell wonderful?" She held out her black tee and white tunic with a finger and thumb and droped them in the pile of dirty laundry. "Pika-!" "Sweaty, I should know. I'm the one who's been wearing them." "Chu!" "Right." "Casey!" Casey turned. "Selena! Shay!" She squeeked."What're you doing here? I thought you were in the Orange League!" "Naw. We did that last year." Selena shook her head."We're giving the regular Pokemon league a try. They are pretty different, you know." "Yeah, I know." "Doin' laundry, are we?" Shay asked, eying the heap of dirty clothing. Casey blushed, and shoved her under garments out of sight. "So are we." Selena replied. Trying to save Casey some embarasment, she shoved Shays undies out in plain view. "Hey!" he protested. "Ah ah ah." Selena scilenced him."You traveling alone?" "No. I've got Sheila, and my Pokemon with me. And a boyfriend. And another hunky guy." "Oooh! Lucky you!" Selena, Shay, and Casey began to gossip and joke around, while their clothes were being washed and dried. "How far have you gotten?" Casey inquired. "Four badges each." "Half way there!" "Cool." "Pikpipipi." Sheila chortled. "Awww! She's so cute!" Selena cooed."What's her name?" "Sheila." "Adorable! Is she your starter?" "Yep. What are yours?" "Squirtle." "Charmander." "Can I see? I know they're tropical types, so they'll look different." "Sure." Indeed, they did looke different. Squirtle was a slightly darker shade of blue, with emerald green eyes. It had a blue spotted pattern on its shell. Charmander was darker, too. It was a brilliant red, and its flame was more yellow than red. Its eyes were midnight blue, and its underbelly was dark orange. "Cool." Casey breathed. She stood up, and took her clothes out of the dryer, keeping out a set. Folding them neatly, she put them back inside her back pack.Excusing herself, she ducked into the washroom, and changed back into her regular outfit, leaving the tunic slung over her arm. *Too hot.* she decided.*Doesn't it ever snow around here?* "Whoah!" Shay whistled."I didn't know my cousin had such an amazing bod!" "Stop it. I already have a boyfriend, I'm not a flirt, and we aren't really cousins." "All the better." "Pervert!" Casey whacked Shay with her mallet. "I've gotta go, guys." she announced."They guys are waiting for me." "We'll see you later!" Selena grunted, hauling her comatose brother into a chair. "Pikapi! Pikachu." "Yeah. He's a big flirt. I think he gets it from his dad." "Chu." "Mm-hm! I agree." Casey replied."I think I'll save it for Morgan. When he hears about this, he'll want to kill Shay. But...if he does that, who will I whack with my little mallet?" "Pikakakakaka!" Sheila laughed. "E-zackly." Casey nodded."Now, I said I'd get some Pokemon stuff. Let's go." "You get your clothes clean?" Cody asked, looking up from his trusty magazine. "Yeah." Casey answered."And I had a nice chat with my cousins." "You don't mean...?" "No. They aren't really my cousins. We aren't even related. Our parents are really good friends, so I call them 'aunt' and 'uncle', and I consider their children my 'cousins'. See?" "Yeah." Sheila's ear twiched. Looking out the window, her eyes grew wide. "Pipi!" Sheila said, tugging on Casey's pant leg, dragging them down slightly. "Sheila!" Casey cried, tugging her pants back up."What's gotten into you?!" "Pipi!" she answered."Pikapikapikapi!" Casey groaned. "You're kidding, right?" "Pikapi." Sheila answered, shaking her head. "Great." "What is it?" "Sheila says scratch cat is sneaking around outside." "That would be...?" Casey macked them with her mallet. "Idiots!" Walking outside with mallet in hand, Casey cautiously searched for the plague of her life, who had asulted her more than once before. She found him, sitting in front of a bush. "Alright, Meowth! Whad'ya want this time?!" she howled, yanking him up by the scruff of his neck. He yeowled pitifuly. "Put me down. Please!" he begged. Then, Casey noticed how badly hurt he was. Obviously, his tail and back right paw were broken, and he was bleeding from several large gashes. "Oh! You poor thing! What happened?" she cried, craddling him in her arms. "I was slowing the team down, because I got hurt." he sniffled."So they abandoned me!" "What?! How could they?! You may be a bad guy, but I'm not leaving you here to rot! Auntie Joy can help you!" "You'd do that for me? Even after the way I treated you?" "Of course. A Pokemon is still a Pokemon, no matter how bad it is." Casey stood up, and took him to the Pokemon center. Morgan run up to her. "Casey! Where'd you-is that Meowth?!" "Yes it is. Poor guy was abandoned by Jessie and James, JUST because he got hurt!" "They tried it before." Meowth put in, waving a limp paw at them."I got really sick, and they were just going to abandon me." He let out a screech of pain as his broken tail moved. "Morgan, go get Joy, please." "Gotcha!" Morgan said, before running off in search of the nurse. Casey gently laid Meowth down on a streacher provided by the Chanseys. "Now, Meowth. Promise not to scratch them, okay?" Meowth whimpered his response softly. "And no more doing bad things, right?" Meowth nodded. "Oh my god!" nurse Joy nearly screamed, when she saw Meowth."How could this happen?! How could you let this happen, Casey? That was iresponsable of you, Casey!" "But I'm not Meowth's trainer!" Casey protested."As much as I want to be, I'm not. Jessie and James are." Nurse Joy's mouth hardened into a thin line. "I see." All Casey, Morgan, Cody, and Sheila could hear was assorted screeches and yells, and banging noises, coming from the E.R. Nurse Joy stumbled out, her uniform torn in several places. "That is what I call a scratch cat!" she said, before falling to the floor. Casey sweat dropped. Peeking in, Casey's eyes met with Mr.Disaster and Mrs.Mess.Meowth, although only having three paws, had managed to make the mess of the century. Both Chansey's were laying on the ground, faces scratches. Equipment, beds, anything not nailed down, had been upended, or overturned. "Meowth!" Casey yelled."I thought you promised." Meowth grinned shakily. "I forgot." "Did they do anything for you?" "They set my tail and paw for me." "And since they're out, who's going to take care of the rest of your wounds?" "You." Meowth smiled. "Did I hear you right? Did you just say that I was going to treat you?!" "Mm-hm! Don't play dumb! Your parents are Pokemon doctors. I think you would've picked up something from 'em." "Since it's only gashes, I think I can help you.' "Thank you." "I can't believe I'm doing this." Casey grumbled through clenched teeth. "Scratch me once, and I'll have you declawed!" Just like her mother, Casey was a naturel. She disinfected Meowth's wounds and bandaged them carefully. "Now, Moewth. Tell me what you'll be doing, and where you'll be going after this." "I don't know." He mumbled."I can't go back to Jessie and James after this. Not now. Not after the way they treated me." "Will you come with me?" "Huh? Why? I don't deserve a trainer like you, after all I've done to you-! Why?" "Because I think you're cute. And I don't want you to get hurt again." Casey replied, rubbing Meowth's chin."I have a Poke-nip patch at home, with your name on it, Meowth." Meowth's eyes lit up at the thought. Casey WAS a nice person. And she knew how to treat a Meowth right. He loved it when someone scratched his chin like that! "Alright, then. I'm yours." he agreed, licking a paw delicately."But, I need to appologize, Casey." "For what?" "For all those things that I've said and done to you. You aren't really a slut, and I didn't really want to scratch your back like that." "Meowth, it's okay. You've made a few mistakes, and I forgive you." Casey said, hugging the cat to her chest. "So, how long until Meowth will be better?" Casey asked. "That fiesty Pokemon'll be back up and running around in about three weeks. Or maybe even sooner." nurse Joy answered."Have you decided to train him?" "Yes. Actually, Meowth made that decision." Casey answered. "Well, I'm sure he'll be perfectly happy with you." "Yep. And he can ride in my bike basket." Casey turned to Sheila."You don't mind, do you Sheila?" "Pik." she replied, shaking her fuzzy, yellow head."Pikapi." Morgan and Cody weren't yet comfortable with the idea of having Meowth along with them, but kept their mouths shut. Meowth curled up in the basket, his splited tail and paw sticking out. Sheila sat on his belly, keeping him company. "Isn't he just the cutest cat you've ever seen?" Casey thrilled, patting his head with her free hand. "Uh, yeah." Cody replied, uncomfortably. "Maybe I should send him to my parents. They could take care of him better than I could." Casey pondered. "Don't say that." Morgan spoke up, for the first time."Meowth needs something that only you can give him." "What?" "Love." "What?" "Yeah, that's right." Meowth purred."I bet you're the only human who'd want to have me as a Pokemon. I'm not as young as I used to be, and my temper does make me not so cuddley, and my background is enough to frighten off any trainer. But you saw through that." "He's got a valid point there, Case." Cody put in. "I guess you're right." Casey pursed her lips."By the by, how old ARE you, Meowth?" "Twenty three, and counting." he answered. "That's pretty young for a Meowth." Casey snorted."With proper care, a Meowth can live for up to sixty years, or more." "Yeah, but do you think I've had proper care all my life?" Meowth demanded. "Uh, well...that's a tough one." "I've been fried, frozen, shocked, burned, baked, slapped, hit, buffeted, bonked, pounded, slashed, blasted, sprayed with 'Esense of Gloom', put to sleep by a Jigglypuff hundreds of times, kicked, tied up, nearly drowned, rejected by my true love, nearly run over, flattened, stomped, ignored, publicly humiliated, blown up...need I go on?" "No, thank you. We get the point." Morgan said quickly. Three weeks later... "Meowth? You feel better?" Casey asked. Meowth was scratching his leg and tail. "Oh yeah!" he purred."That's the stuff! That was so itchy!" "Good! I'm glad you feel better." Casey replied, picking him up."You can start proper training soon. I'll teach you a no pain pay day, 'kay?" "Meow! Okay! I've always wanted to learn that, but I used up all my intelligence learning how to speak." "Well, maybe it's just been supressed. Y'know, a hidden attack?" "Could be." Morgan, having gotten used to Meowth, came over and scratched his ear. "Hey, lucky cat." he greeted. "Hi, Morgy!" Meowth answered. "Well, at least you aren't calling me 'Morg'. That sounds so morbid!" he sighed. "We know, Morgan! We know!" Casey, Cody, and Meowth chorused. Meowth purred, and rubbed himself up against Casey's outstreatched hand. After only a week of gentle, feminine training, Meowth had learned pay day, and had gained nearly enough experience to evolve. He was a very happy cat Pokemon. Not only did he have a kind, loving, pretty trainer, but he was learning useful stuff, too. Casey's parents weren't too thrilled at her training Meowth, but they accepted it, like Cody and Morgan had. On one of his short visits to the Ketchum resisdence, when Casey wanted him to rest, Ash and Ashly actually treated him like a family pet. He had taken a special interest in Jason Quinn. He liked the infant, and took special pain to keep him safe, while he was there. Casey's next big joy was when something special happened to Meowth. Jessie and James has showed up for round 67 (but who's keep track?), and Meowth came to Casey's defence. "Hah! Meowth, you're as pitiful as the next goodie two shoes!" Jessie snickered, as she spat at him."You've become a traitor!" "How can I become a traitor, if I am not even on your side?!" Meowth shrieked, digging his claws into her face. Jessie threw him on the ground, and pressed her foot down on his throat. His eyes became hard little slits, as he bit her foot, through the boot, to the bone. Jessie shrieked, and kicked Meowth away. Casey caught him. "Meowth, please. I don't want you to get hurt anymore!" she whispered. A single tear dripped off her cheek, hitting Meowth's charm. "Casey." was all he said. Soon, he began to glow and grow larger. "Persian!" he screeched."You two shall pay for all that you've done to Casey!" He raked his claws across their faces, and kicked them, all the while hissing and spitting angrily. Jessie and James hastily made their exit, running as fast as they could. Persian stared after them, his fangs bared, before colapsing from exhaustion. "Oh, Persian. You did that for me?" Casey asked, kneeling beside him. His response was to lick her cheek, and look at her with loyalty shining from his red eyes. ****************************************************************** <> Prof.Oak!
