Lost Brothers

Since it seems that I lost the file that contained my other fic, I decided to put in another one.  I’ll being working on the other one, but for the moment I’ll submit this work.  I hope you like it, it sort of explains my SN on TPT.

He woke up on shore somewhere on the main island.  He was lucky he was carried off so far as the mainland.  He found himself wondering why he was out there and bear naked no less.  Luckily there was no one there to see him washed up and in his birthday suite.  He had no time to think and ran towards the ally in hopes to flee from prying eyes.

In all the confusion, all he could think of is get something to wear.  He did not speak or make any sound as he look to acquire a decent attire to hide in.  Just a few ways into an alley that he suddenly turned on, on a balcony a pair of pants, shirt and shoes lay hanging on a wire.  He had always been told by his mother not to steal, but at this point he was desperate.  He climbed up the ladder of the apartment building and quickly swiped the clothing and ran away.  A few distance back, he could of sworn that he heard someone wonder where their clothing went.

Out from the alley, he came out with the newly acquired threads.  It didn’t fit him exactly as it was made for an adult, but it fit enough.

On the sight of a burger place, he was excited to smell the odor of patties and fries frying in the deep fryer.

Pika?” He said to himself.  Pika pi pi pi pi pi pi” he repeated frantically as if he was unable to speak anything else.  In fact, “pi pi pi pika pika pi”, he wasn’t able to say anything else.

He tried saying his name, but to no avail.  Pika pika pi pika”.  He began to panic more and more.  What was going on?  What happened to him?  Where was he?  He remembered it all, but it was all fuzzy.  He had his pokeballs.  No, he didn’t.  Where did his pokeballs go?  Where did Brock go?  Where did Misty go?  What was going on?  His pokemon, where are they?  Were his pokeballs washed away somewhere on the beach along with his clothing?  He panicked more and more wondering if everything would be okay.  If his pokeballs were washed away somewhere, he might not be able to ever find them again.

Outside the burger place, people inside were wondering what was happening to the young man outside yelling Pika pi.  The manager sees the boy panicked and disoriented and decides to see what’s going on.

“Hey, young man, are you okay?”  asked the store manager.

All he could say was “pika pi”.

“Come on kid, you’re scaring my customers.  Stop fooling around and get out of here.”

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye and from the little sense of reality he had left in him, he caught a glimpse of his reflection on the burger place’s window.

His face looked the same, his nose, ears, mouth and eyes were the same.  But his hair.  His hair was golden yellow.  The same color as the fur on a Pikachu.  And on top of that; from the top of his head like a Pikachu, was a pair of Pikachu ears.

Pika pi was all he could say, though he really was crying for someone to tell him what was going on.

The store manager went inside and came back out with a phone in his hand threatening to call Officer Jenny if he wasn’t going to go away.

So he ran.  He ran passing other stores seeing his reflection every so often as he passed one.  He couldn’t possibly know why this has happened.  Could it be some kind of pokemon attack that had turned him this way, or maybe he had been hypnotized into believing that this was happening to him.

He was tired from running.  He hadn’t stop since he was at the burger restaurant and that was about a mile ago.  As he ran, a young boy the age of probably 5 or 6 years old pointed at him and asked his mother why the young man running had a Pikachu ear on.  Maybe it was a hat?  No, it wasn’t a hat, it was real.  It was the result of an accident.

It must have been adrenaline because from the time he started running till he had gotten to the point where it was only a wide stretching road with forest to the sides, he had not stopped.  And he still did not stop.  He trudged on breathless and exhausted from running.  Then, finally he stopped.  On the ground not moving anymore; asleep.

He heard them speaking.  He knew what they meant.  Ursar ursaring”.  One of them spoke and he knew what they meant.

Another one.  Aipom pom pom.”

He didn’t know how he got there.  It wasn’t where he remembered he last collapsed.  Could it be the pokemon helped him.

By a pond, a Bellossom came over and squirt him on the face with water.  Afterwards the Bellossom then offers him a drink.

“You’re welcome to drink over at that pond over there.”  Said the Bellossom.

Pika pi,” answers the young man.  The Bellossom understood.

“See, I told you he was one of us,” said the Ursaring.

“One of you?” said the young man.  “What are you talking about I’m one of you?”

“You’re a pokemon, just like us,” answered the Aipom.

“I can’t be, I’m human.  I look human, I dress like a human.  I’m a human being.”

“You may look like a human, but you also look like a pokemon,” retorted the Ursaring.

“Yeah, or else how do you explain that you’re able to understand us?  See, you are a pokemon, just like us.  Don’t try to hide it, you’re a pokemon.”

“But I am a human.  My name is Ash Ketchum.  I was born in Pallet Town where my mother lives.  I can recall all everything about life.  I’m a Pokemon Trainer.  I remember Brock, Misty….”

Then it came back to him in a surge of electricity.  It happened in New Island.  He walked over to the pond and looked closely at his reflection.  Those pikachu ears aren’t fake; in fact, he could hear from them.  He could smell an aroma that was about half a mile back.  It was true, he wasn’t human, but also he wasn’t a pokemon. He was something else.

“I remember.  The last thing I saw was me.”

Location and Setting: Just a few hours ago in New Island.

In a giant tube of some kind the boy was barely even to able to open his eyes.  There outside of the tube he saw his reflection.  It was him carrying a Pikachu in his arms.  It was his pikachu; it was Pikachu. At the time he had believed that it was a mirror he was looking at, but he wasn’t able to see for sure.  All he knew then was that he was tired.  Tired from what?  From being born.

*****

“I’m not, Ash,” he told himself.  I’m someone else.  I’m no one.  I’m not supposed to even be here.”

Ursaring gave him a slap in the butt and he began to cry.  The boy slammed his fist on the grass and began to cry some more.  He wanted his mother, but wasn’t even sure that he had a mother.  He cried some more.  Even though he wasn’t who he really was, he loved that mother.  He would do anything for her.  For Brock and for Misty.  No.  He couldn’t.  He wasn’t able to.  He was a different person from Ash Ketchum.  He may look like him, share the same ambition, act the same, think the same, but he wasn’t the same.  He wasn’t the boy that left Pallet Town with high hopes of becoming the greatest Pokemon Trainer in the world.  He was nothing.  He was no one.

Pikachuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!”  He screamed as cried.

*****

Location and Setting:  Six months have pass since that day he was born and is now on his feet.  Somehow, with the help of Ursaring, Bellossom, and Aipom, he was able to find a way of life.  At nights, Ursaring and the others would get the young man what he needed.  Things like food, clothing, a bath.  They treated him as if he were their child and the boy loved them as if they were his family.  They would also bring the young man books and magazines at his request.  It took some time, but the boy was finally able to utter words other than Pikachu, though he still wasn’t able to be fluent with his speech.

Locating and Setting continue:  At the Pokemon Center, a girl named Marene had slammed onto the young man.  She was new to pokemon training and had only her starter pokemon with her.  Marene found it rude that the young man hadn’t even offered an apology for slamming into her, though it didn’t really bother her too much.

“Okay, Psyduck, I know that today, we’ll somehow find another pokemon to be your friend.  Then afterwards, well get stronger, beat other trainers, and one day will be the best pokemon master and pokemon trainee in the world.  Right, Psyduck?”

Psy,” her Psyduck answered.

“Okay then, for us to be the best, we have to go where the most danger lies.  Where people do not dare go into. In other words, today, we’ll train in that forest.  Deep in that forest.”  Marene looked deep into the forest and thought to herself that she was crazy for even thinking about going inside there.  “In the other hand, we are still new to this and we aren’t going to be ready.  Maybe we should just walk along the routed path.  That way if anything happens, we can just follow it and run back to safety, right Psyduck?”

Seeing that the forest didn’t look too forgiving, Psyduck wasn’t too sure that he’d be able to take on any pokemon that came their way.  Psy,” said Psyduck agreeing with his master.

She walked the path and wasn’t able to find any strong pokemon, only your Rattata and your Odish’s.  “No way, there’s no strong Pokemon out here, Psyduck.  How are we ever going to be strong trainers if we don’t challenge ourselves?”  The the idea came to her as she look deep into the forest.  That’s it, I’ve made up my mind.  I’m going into that forest.  That’s the only way were are going to be good enough to compete in Pokemon Tournaments.

As declared, Marene, with a reluctant Psyduck forged forward and jumped into the forest.  She walked on slowly with the light of the sun being shaded by the huge arms length of the tree branches.  Slowly with a virgule readiness, Marene carefully forged forward.  Each movement in the grass she took notice to being ever so careful she would be ready at anything that would come her way.

There came a thud somewhere.  Marene squealed as if something had run up her blouse.  It was a scream so horrific you’d think she were being stabbed so suddenly.  No, it was only a twig that somehow got to her underwear.

“Oh, no.  Okay, that’s it, I’m officially afraid.  Come on Psyduck, we’re getting out of here.”

Psy,” answered Psyduck not at all complaining about the idea.

They walked quickly than they had entered.  But wait, where was the way out?  The two had gotten in too deep and now they were unable to get out.  Psyduck, I’m sorry to say this, but I think we’re lost.”

Another thud was heard.  “What was that, Psyduck?” Marene ask knowing perfectly well she wouldn’t be able to understand Psyduck.  “Okay, I’m really starting to get scared.”

The thud came closer.  Closer and closer and ever so closer till it sounded as if it had stopped right in front of them.  Then it was quiet.  What could it have been?

“I know what to do!” exclaimed Marene in victory.  Psyduck, I want you to use your psychic power to move those branches so we can get more sunlight in here.”

Psyduck had done so.

Then, finally she was able to see what that noise really was.  In front of her; starred her in the eye was a giant Nidorino.  Not only that, but it seemed as if he was angry.  Marene had seen this before.  It was the same thing she was when she watched a stampede of Tauros angrily chasing after the cameraman on a program she watched about when pokemon attacked.  It was the same snarl, the same angry look and the same smoke that came out of the Tauros’s snout.  The Nidorino was about to attack.

Marene screamed at her heart’s content.  She didn’t know what to do.  Psyduck was still using his psychic powers to light up the place and couldn’t think of what to do as his master was too out of it to give any command.

No, Marene screaming did not do her any good.  Actually, it was the worst thing she could have done as the Nidorino took offense and charged toward her aiming directly for her stomach.

Suddenly, when all hope seemed lost, a bolt of lightning came flying her direction flinching Nidorino’s attack.  Pika pika,” screamed a voice from behind her.

Marene opened her eyes to see only lightning coming her way.

Nido nido nidorino,” yelled the Nidorino.

Psyduck was finally able to snap out of be afraid and pulled on his master’s shirt  as if to ask for directions.

The Nidorino charged at her again and this time, it seemed a boy had run in front of her and was able to take the attack for her.  Afterwards, a bolt of lightning again shot out.  This time Marene saw where it came from.  He thought her eyes were playing a trick on her and dismissed it as the boy owning a pikachu and using it to attack for him.

The boy was hurt.  It seemed that the attack had hit him harder than Marene had thought.  “Are you okay?” Marene asked.  There was no answer from the boy except for his pikachu.

“That’s it, Psyduck, use confusion on that Nidorino,” Marene ordered.

Psyduck did as he was told and had fired his best confusion to Nidorino.  It had worked.  The Nidorino was confused moving very erratically as if it were drunk.

Despite not liking the Nidorino at the moment, Marene knew a strong pokemon when she saw one.  “Now’s my chance to capture a new friend, Psyduck.”

From her side belt, she took out an empty pokeball, enlarged it and gave it a kiss.  Nidorino, we were once enemies, but now, you’ll be part of my team.  Nidorino, I choose you!”

Marene threw the ball as hard as she could at the Nidorino.  As the ball neared to make its target, it did.  That is, it made contact with Nidorino’s tail whip.  The ball came flying back at her direction and hitting the boy in the head.  The ball spit out a whiz of red light and soon disappeared.

The Nidorino had enough.  It’s head hurt and to top things off, it was a little burned by that thunderbolt.  It ran away.

“Oh, No!” exclaimed Marene.  “We weren’t able to capture it.  I was looking forward to having another strong pokemon.”

Marene looked down and remembered the boy that had come to her rescue.  Marene remembered that he was hurt.  “I almost forgot!  Psyduck, use your psychic power again to get some light again.”

Psyduck did what he was ordered to do.  Marene looked down, but there was only the pokeball she used and the ruffled leaves that gave clue that the boy was in fact there before.  But, where is the boy now?  He couldn’t have run away.  Or maybe, the whole time he was saving her, the boy was only after that strong Nidorino?

“That scoundrel!” Marene exclaimed as  she punched her hand as if to punch out the boy.  “I can’t believe that that guy’s only resolve for saving such a pretty girl like me was to capture that Nidorino.  If I ever meet him again, I’m going to give him a piece of my mind.  Come on, Psyduck, lets get out of here.  You can use psychic on the tree branches so we can see our way out of here.”

*****

Location and Setting:  Marene was somehow able to get out of the forest.  She hadn’t officially left for pokemon journey, so she still lived in her mother’s house.  After getting out of the forest, she decided to go home and talk to her mother about her experience about the whole incident.

“You wouldn’t believe it, mother.  That Nidorino was as big as a Rhyhorn.  I mean, I was almost a goner if it hadn’t been for my excellent pokemon training skill.”  Marene had started out telling her mother the truth about what happened, but somewhere in the story, she had accidentally exaggerated a part and somehow the whole story became a big fish story.

“Oh my, Marene!” her mother said playing along.  Marene’s mother wasn’t the gullible type.  She knew her daughter too much for her to fall for such an apparent lie.  “Were you ever afraid, Marene?”

“Of course I wasn’t afraid; well, maybe a little.  It wasn’t that I was afraid, it was more like something I had to do.  I knew that I would be facing other dangerous situations like that and I knew that I had to overcome fear itself to be the best.  And so I did.”

“That’s my daughter… the little exaggerator.”

“What did you say, Mother?” asked Marene as she only caught a half of her mother’s sentence.

“Oh, I just said that you’re a very brave daughter and that I’m very proud of you.”

Don’t get her mother wrong; her mother loves Marene unconditionally.  They had that type of relationship where it had seemed like they were sisters than mother and daughter, but they both loved each other very much.

*****

Location and Setting:  Still in Marene’s home.  She had dinner with her mother many of her friends and family.  They all congratulated her and wished her the best of luck for her journey.  Marene’s official journey starts in the morning and it was a special dinner.  The time is now 15 passed 8 at night and Marene gets ready to go to sleep.

After take a shower, Marene put on her pajama’s and was ready for sleep.  She had to get up in the morning and she needed all the rest you could get.  Tomorrow is a big day; the first day of her journey.  “I just can’t wait!”

Psyduck was already asleep in her bed.  She had gotten Psyduck two weeks earlier and from the time they first met, the two had become best friends.  Psyduck wasn’t like other pokemon.  Psyduck for instance didn’t like going inside his pokeball and so he stayed outside.  They were more than master and pokemon, they were best friends.

Marene was about to get to sleep when her mother popped her head into her room and looked at her hamper.  None of her clothing were actually inside the hamper but all around it.  Marene, what have I told you about your clothes?  Before you go to bed, clean this mess up!”

“But, Mother, I have to get my rest or I’m going to be tired in the morning.  You know that I have to get my beauty sleep.”

“You know better than to keep the house messy.  You can go to sleep when you clean this up.  Besides, it’ll only take a few minutes to finish up.”

“Fine, I’ll do it then.  But in the morning, if I’m super tired from not getting any rest, it’s going to be your entire fault.”

“I think I’ll chance it, now get to work and clean this mess.”

Marene had done what she was told and also mumbled the whole time about the rules of the house being unfair.  “I always have to do things that don’t really need to be done.  I mean, I’m going to be gone all this time, I don’t see why I have to clean my room when I’m not even going to use it.”

She was almost done, except for the jean shorts that she had used today.  Her belt was still on it and also the five empty pokeballs that were strapped on.  She took off the belt and each of the pokeballs on the belt.  One by one, she put the empty pokeballs into her desk drawer.

She remembered the boy that was after the Nidorino.  “If I ever find that guy, I’m going to tell him off for trying to capture that Nidorino.  Psyduck would have had a friend if it wasn’t for him.”

Marene picked up one of the empty balls from her desk and imagine capturing more pokemon.  “I will become the best Pokemon Trainer in the world.  I’m going to catch every pokemon as well.  Psyduck is going to battle them, then I’ll throw the pokeball…”

Crash!

Marene hadn’t mean to throw the ball, but somehow it had slipped out of her hand.  A ray of red electric light flashed out and all the sudden the boy from before appeared before her very eyes.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHH!” Marene screamed as loud as she could.  “You pervert, how dare you sneak into a girl’s room at night.  Get out before my mom sees you!”

It was still hard for the boy to speak in human speak, but he tried his best.  “What do you mean, pika, I sneak into your room, pi?”

“Get out of here now before my mother comes in here and sees you.  Get out!” Marene ordered.

It was already too late.  Marene’s mother was already on her way.  She could hear the footsteps coming.

Marene!” her mother yelled.

“She’s coming!  Get out, now!”  It was already too late.  Her mother was too close for the boy to sneak out of the window.  “Too late, quick get under the bed!”

The boy did as he was told and got under the bed.

Marene’s Mother opened the door and entered with a frantic look on her face.  Marene, are you alright?” she asked worried that something bad might have happened to her beloved daughter.

“I’m fine, Mother, I just… uh, I just threw the pokeball by accident and broke my favorite alarm clock.”  Luckily, as Marene had thrown the ball, she somehow broke her alarm clock.

“Oh Marene, you have to stop being so over dramatic.  You’re ten years old and a half, now.  You’re going to be an official Pokemon Trainer.  You worried me almost half to death.”

“I’m sorry, Mother.  I’ll try not to be so over dramatic.”

“Okay, then sweetheart.  Clean up this mess and get to sleep, okay?”

“Okay, Mother.”

“Good night, darling.”

“Good night, Mother.”  Marene’s mother closed the door and walked away.

Once the coast was clear, she ordered the boy to get out under her bed.

“Hey, you, pervert.”

“Don’t call me that, pika.”

“What ever, just get out!”

“Fine, it would be my pleasure to get out of here.  Such an annoying girl,” the boy said just under his breath.

Marene took offense and decided to confront him.

“Hey, I heard that.  I heard what you said.  At least I’m not the one trying to sneak into other people’s home.”

“I never sneaked into your home, you’re the one who took me here.  So in actuality, you’re the immoral one, here.  You’re the one who kidnapped me.”

“What are you talking about, I didn’t kidnap you.  You were the one who tried to sneak in until you got caught doing so.”

“You don’t remember, do you?  Geez, you try to rescue someone from an angry Nidorino and they bite your head off!”

“You weren’t trying to rescue me.  The only reason why you did that was to get your hands on that strong Nidorino.”

It was like talking to a brick wall.  Did she even notice that the boy popped out of the pokeball?  Did she even notice that the boy had Pikachu ears sticking out of the top his head?

“You are so ungrateful.  You would have been injured, or worst, pika, if it weren’t for me.  I was the one who threw the thunderbolt at that Nidorino, pi.”

It was unbelievable that Psyduck was still asleep even after Marene has screamed her lungs out from seeing the boy.

“It wasn’t you, it was your Pikachu that did that.  I may be new at being a Pokemon Trainer, but I know better than to believe that humans have the ability to learn pokemon moves.”

“It was me, and I can prove it.”

“Okay, then, prove it.”

The boy put up his right hand and grabbed Marene’s hand.

“Don’t touch me, you pervert!” Marene yelled as she tried to pull back her hand, but wasn’t.  She looked surprise at how strong the boy was.  The boy had looked small and scrawny, but by the pull of his hands, he was stronger than she had thought.

“Don’t worry, I’m going to prove that I did that thunderbolt, pi.”  The boy crinched his cheeks and a wave of electricity passed through his arm and into Marene’s.

“Ouch, that hurts!”

“I know.”

“It must be a trick of some kind.  Humans aren’t able to perform pokemon moves, could they?”

“I’m not fully human.” Answered the boy.

“WHO ARE YOU?” (NINTENDO)

“I’m no one.”  Answered the boy.  It was true.  He had no identity.  In all fairness, he wasn’t even supposed to be.  It was the age old question personified in the boy.  Who are we if we don’t have a soul?  Did he have a soul?  It comes to reason, if someone is born, they automatically have a soul; then since he was made, he shouldn’t have a soul.  If he does, does that mean that he shares one with Ash?  Can there be two souls that are the same?

“If you’re not fully human, does that mean you’re half pokemon?”

“I don’t know, and I don’t care.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be taking my leave, now.”

Marene thought about it for a moment.  “Wait a minute!  If you’re half pokemon, and I captured you, then that means that you’re my pokemon now.”

The boy could see a sparkle in Marene’s eyes.  He knew what she was thinking.  Of course he knew what she was thinking.  Ash is also a Pokemon Trainer, and when he saw a pokemon that he wanted to capture, he was going to try his best to try to capture it.

“Don’t even think about it.  I’m only half pokemon.”

“Hey, that isn’t fair.  I captured you fair and square.  That means you’re going to be my pokemon, now.”

“You don’t know anything about pokemon training.  And as for fair, is it fair that you took all the credit for running away that Nidorino?”  It was never clear to him whether or not a pokemon could hear what was going on inside a pokeball.  From personal experience, the answer was yes.

“You heard all that?  How dare you eavesdrop on our conversation?  That’s invasion of privacy.”

He couldn’t believe the gall of this girl.  “Are you serious?  You know what, never mind.  I’ll just be going, now.”

No way.  This was a once and a lifetime opportunity.  Who else would have a pokemon that was half human and half pokemon?  Marene look over to the pokeball on the ground.  “Hold still,” Marene requested as if she was requesting to take his picture.

“What are you going to do?” he asked as if he didn’t already know what she was going to do.

“I’m going to put you in your pokeball,” again she stated as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

He couldn’t believe what she was doing.  First she had wanted to kick him out, now she was trying to keep him captive.

“I’m not going to be you pokemon.  Get that through your head. Like I said, I’m leaving.”

“Oh yeah!”  Marene pointed the pokeball at the boy and a flash of red light beamed at him.

The boy saw it coming and was able to avoid the light.  The boy was amazed to have avoid it.  It was a feat to actually dodge that kind of speed coming at you.  It made sense that he was able to do so considering he had the agility of a Pikachu and the mind set of a Pokemon Trainer.

“Hey, what’s the big idea trying to capture me?  I told you I’m not going to be your pokemon!”  The boy was angry.  He couldn’t believe the girl was so persistant.

“Hey, that’s against the rules.  Once a pokemon is captured by someone, the pokemon must obey the trainer that captured it.  And I captured you so now you have to do whatever I say.”

“You are a beginner,” the boy stated matter-of-factly.  “You should know that even if a trainer caught a pokemon, it doesn’t necessarily mean the pokemon will obey.  There are pokemon who are so independent that they don’t even want to be in pokeballs.  Another thing, you captured me on a fluke.  If I remember correctly, you threw the ball at Nidorino and he was able to tail whip it back onto me.  In other words, if that pokeball hadn’t been registered on your name, it would have been Nidorino that had captured me.  And that, just proves have much a novice to pokemon training you really are.  You said your going to be the very best, well, if you ever plan to be, you better know your ins and outs.  So far, all you proved is that you’re big talk.  I’m sorry to say this, but you are nowhere in the league of controlling a strong pokemon.  In this case, you aren’t even able to control me.”

Marene looked angry.  It was true, she was beginner, but for someone to name your flaws is very upsetting.

The boy remembered being told, or at least he remembered someone being told the very same thing he told Marene.  Yes, if memory serves well, it would have been Misty and Brock who had informed the person of the ways of pokemon training.  He couldn’t help feel sorry for Marene as tears collected in her eyes.

The boy continued.  “I heard tomorrow you’re going to be officially a Pokemon Trainer, chu.  In my experience, you take more time to develop your knowledge of pokemon.  Take advice from someone who know what their talking about.  You’re just going to get lost out there if you do.”

That was the final topping on the cake.  Marene was crying and it was his fault.  He considered it and it was going too far.

“I may be new to this, but I will get the hang of it.  And your going to help me!”  Again Marene tried to capture the boy to no avail.  The boy simply dodge the oncoming light.

This got the boy angry as well.  “See, it’s that thick headed frame of thought that’s going to get you in trouble.  If you won’t listen to people when they give you advice, you won’t make it out there.  I promise you, you’re going to end up somewhere you won’t be able to get out of.”

“Oh yeah!”  Marene retorted without thought of what she wanted to say.

“Yeah.  Look at me, I’m part human and part pokemon, pi.  This happened because someone got in over their heads.  Someone lost control and this happened.”  The boy thought of Ash.  The original Ash who was head strong and did what he did to help out Pikachu.  He couldn’t say anything about that because despite the difference in look, the two of them are the same.

“Fine!  Leave then, see if I care.”  She gave up.  The boy couldn’t believe that she had finally listened.

“Good.  I’m sorry to be mean,pi, but you need to know this.  This is for your own good, pi.”  The boy opened the window and began to climb out.  It didn’t occur to him that he was on the second floor of a two floor home.  He looked down and he wasn’t scared.  It might have been the pokemon inside him that waved away the fear.

The boy was about to jump when he heard Marene speaking to herself.

“Fine then,” she cried to herself, “he’s right.  I’m just going to give up being a Pokemon Trainer.  If people in the world are going to be jerks like him, I might as well just stay home.  I heard Pokemon Trainers are suppose to be helpful people, but if their going to be like him, I don’t want to be one.”

The boy remembered what Ash was told when he barely began his journey.  He was told he was a novice, as well.  He was told that he wouldn’t ever be as good as anyone else if he acted that way and wont listen.  If anything, at that moment, he was the people who told Ash that.

The boy climbed back into Marene’s room.  “Hey, listen for a moment.”

“What do you want?  Just go away.  You did enough, you totally destroyed my dream,” Marene cried.

“Okay, I’m sorry.  Pi, I didn’t mean to do that.  I just wanted you to know that you’re being over confident.  Being overconfident is bad thing.  It’s okay if you’re confident, but you have to know your limits.”  That had perked her up a bit.

It was strange for him.  That had to be the second time he made a girl cry.  Actually, it was the only time he made a girl cry.  He must have been thinking of Misty when he had thought that.

“Don’t give up, pika,” said the boy.  “Keep trying your best.  Don’t let anyone tell you that you won’t be able to get any better.  Study hard on what you’re doing and you will get better.  Just don’t give up.  And I’m sorry, I don’t want you to quit just because of me.”

“Then, does that mean that you’re going to be my pokemon?” asked Marene as innocently as she could.

“PIKA, NO!” the boy exclaimed.

Hearing that, Marene got on her knees and started to cry again.  This time she was louder about it.

“Hey, pi, don’t be so loud.  What if you mother comes in and sees me.  What’s she going to think, huh, pi?”  He walked over to her and patted her on the back like a big brother would.  Then, he saw it.  It was a smile on her face.

A red light flickered and he was back in his Pokeball.

“Hurray!  I did it.  Huh, who’s the amateur, now, Mr. pokemon expert?”  It was clear that she had that planned all along and you’d know it if you were to see her dancing around.

Marene!,” yelled her mother from downstairs.

“Yes, mother!” Marene yelled back at her now as she stopped in her tracks and no longer danced.

“Go to bed, I can hear you up there!”

“Okay, Mother.  I’m going to be right now!”  Marene kissed the pokeball, put a small sticker that had the symbol of electricity and put in on her dresser desk.  “With your help, I am going to be the best Pokemon Trainer the there has always been.”  Marene turned out the light and went to sleep.  The whole night she dreamed of the boy with Pikachu ears.
