Disclaimer: I don’t own Pokemon, so please feel free to sue my moth ridden wallet. I’m sure the moths would like a new home.

I sat bolt up right as music filled the room. Blearily, I walked over to the shelf on my left and shoved the switch to the right. The most annoyingly loud beeping noise filled the air as I realized I had pushed the switch to the wrong right, turning on the buzzer. Cringing, I reached out and shifted it to the left, silencing all noise together.

Rubbing my eyes, I stared at the bright red digits through misty eyes. Blinking, I checked it again and made a disgusted look at the numbers that were still glaring back at me:

6:30

What the heck was I doing up at 6:30 on a Saturday? Or for that matter, during the first week of winter vacation?

Shuffling over, I climbed back onto my bed and pushed aside the curtains covering the windows at the headboard of my bed. Feeling the cold emanating from the windows and the white stuff covering the world outside my cozy little hole confirmed my fears. It was Saturday, and it was winter. As if to confirm my thoughts, a pidgey fluttered down to the ground swiftly, and rose just as quickly, taking off back to the warmth of its nest, probably.

Letting go of the coarse curtains, I sank back onto my still warm bed. Shivering, I shoved my feet under my warm green comforter as I pondered the meaning of my early awakening.

Sneaking a glance at the clock once more, the time showed just a minute later. Fully awake now, I slid out of bed and into my fuzzy warm slippers. Going over to my dresser beneath the clock, I grabbed my glasses and placed them in front of my eyes. Before heading out, I took one last glimpse at the electronic clock and then tiptoed out of the room, trying not to awake my slumbering sister across the room.

Reaching the bottom of the stairs of our upstairs room, I found my mom coming out of the bathroom.

Spotting me, she paused in mid hall, “Oh good, you’re up.”

Okay, so my mom knew what I was doing up and I still was clueless.

“You’d better eat breakfast. You don’t want to be late.”

I eyed her as she glided across the hall to her bedroom and entered. I stared at the closed door in confusion before last night’s events sank in.

I almost shouted for joy. I was going to be a pokemon trainer today. Today was the day I got my license and my first pokemon! Oh yeah! I leapt into the air enthusiastically.
