I'm a Beginning Pokemon Trainer!
Part: 8
(The three are on there way to Dewford Town. They stop because they are lost and are in the middle of a forest with a nearby stream. Satoshi and Melissa are clicking through there PokeNavs, trying to check where the real way to Dewford is. The PokeNavs keep beeping as they check through them, annoying Bobby.)
Bobby:(covering his ears) You guys!?! Can you make your PokeNavs stop beeping!?!
Melissa: We can't....(goes back searching through her PokeNav) Now where's Dewford???
Satoshi: ARGGGH!!! I can't believe I don't remember the directions to the stupid town is!!!
Bobby: Hmm....Oh, well, when I was a little boy, I read a book about Dewford....I remember it said....it was like a little island across the sea.....
Satoshi: Your right Bobby!(closes his PokeNav)
Bobby:(surprised)I am?!?
Satoshi: Yeah!
Melissa: But, how are we gonna get across the sea???
Satoshi:(his old memories suddenly coming back) Well, whenever I wanted to go to Dewford, a jolly, old, man named Mr. Briney would take me across the sea on his boat. He used to be a captain of an old ship, but he retired afterward. He was delighted to drive me around. He said it brought back the old blood in him..... wonder if he's still around....he was such a nice man and he loved his Wingull named Peeko dearly....Peeko and me were his only friends....
Melissa: Well, then let's look for this Mr. Briney guy!!! He's the only way we'll get to Dewford!!!
Satoshi:*sigh* OK....he lives in a cottage near the entrance of PetalBurg Woods.
(They retrace there steps back to where PetalBurg woods started and found the cottage)
Melissa: Why didn't I notice this cottage while we were on this Route before???
Bobby: That's 'cause it looks so small. Even I couldn't notice it and I have a really good eye for finding small stuff.
(They see a decent sized boat tied to a dock. They go inside and call for Mr. Briney)
Satoshi: Mr. Briney? Mr. Briney? Peeko? Anyone here?
(Mr. Briney emerges from his bathroom with just a towel wrapped around him. He just came from the shower. Peeko is on his shoulder, acting like a captain's faithful parrot)
Mr. Briney:(in an old, shaky voice) He....Hello?
Melissa: AHH!!!
Mr. Briney: AHH!!!
Melissa: AHH!!!
Mr. Briney:(Pointing a shaky finger at them and clutching his towel) Stand back! I'm....I'm armed!(even though he wasn't)
Satoshi: Mr. Briney! It's me! Satoshi!
Mr. Briney:(puts his finger down) Sa....Satoshi??? Is that really you???(observes him once more) MY DEAR BOY!!! LONG TIME, NO SEE!!!(putting a wrinkled hand on Satoshi's shoulder) My....you've grown....
Satoshi:(laughs) You really think so???
Mr. Briney:(putting on his very large glasses on) Yes....yes....How are you???
Satoshi: I'm fine!!! I got all my gym badges, so soon I'll be on my way to the Pokemon League.
Mr. Brinney: CONGRATS MY BOY!!! I knew you'd make it there someday! You were always so good to your pokemon.(Looks over to Melissa and Bobby) Oh, and who are these lovely folk?
Satoshi: Oh, these are my friends, Bobby and Melissa.
Mr. Briney:(taking Melissa hand and kissing it) Why, hello there love!(shakes Bobby's hand violently) and good day to you lad!
Melissa:(whispers to Satoshi) He's nice, but can you ask him to put some clothes on???(Satoshi nudges Melissa with his elbow) Ouch!!!
Mr. Briney:(fixing his glasses) So, what brings you here today?
Satoshi: Well, Melissa needs to get to Dewford Town to beat the next Gymleader. She's a pokemon trainer too. So we were wondering if you could drive us there on your boat....you know....like you used to do for me....
Mr. Briney: I don't know Satoshi....it's been a while since I drove you around on Old Bessy....
Melissa:(looks at him with puppy dog eyes) Oh, please Mr. Briney....I just have to get to Dewford....it's important....
Mr. Briney: Well....OK....I don't have any other good reason why not to take you....everyone come with me to my closet....I have life jackets for you!!!
Melissa: Yes!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!
(They go to Mr. Briney's very full closet and they put on there life jackets(Melissa complaining the puffy, orange vest didn't clash well with her outfit). The four go out on the dock and enter the boat's deck. It was decent and had a medium-sized mast. The boat was painted white and on the outside of the boat "Old Bessy" was painted in blue. The boat was very old indeed. The deck hasn't been scrubbed in years and the paint was wearing and chipping off. The used-to-be-white sail curtains are covered with dust, making it a disgusting brown color)
Melissa:(putting a hand on the boat's side)Mr. Briney? Uhh....do ya think this boat is still....sturdy enough to drive? I mean....it's really old lookin'....
Mr. Briney:(In an outrage) NOT STURDY ENOUGH?!? TOO OLD?!? OLD BESSY WILL NEVER, AND I REPEAT, NEVER GET TOO OLD FOR ME!!! SHE'S BEEN IN MY LIFE TO LONG TO LET GO OF HER NOW!!!
Melissa: Gee....sorry, sir....I didn't know you cared about her that much....
Mr. Briney: Well, now you know....I forgive you....young people like yourself make mistakes all the time. Even though I see clearly that Old Bessy looks ever-so young....
(Bobby and Satoshi snickered, while Melissa's face was full of pout)
Mr. Briney: Well, Gentlemen....and Lady....ready to set sails???
Bobby and Satoshi: Ay, Ay Captain!!!
Melissa: Whatever....
Mr Briney: Then let's be on our way!!! Oh, Peeko my dear, mind clipping the rope with your beak???
(Peeko gave what looked like a nod and she grasped the thick rope firmly in between her bright, yellow beak and snipped it with ease. The boat slowly moved away from the dock and soon the little cottage disappeared. A while later they were out in sea and it looked like they where in the middle of nowhere with a beach nearby. Melissa watched some young tubers playing Marco Polo, while there parents sunbathed on floating mats. Some swimmers where battling with really tough looking water pokemon while others where water skiing and fishing. Everyone looked like they were having fun. There were hot dog eating contest, lemonade stands, and BBQ's. Melissa was envious)
Melissa:(her stomach growls) I'm hungry....(getting fustrated) AND IT'S HOT TOO!!! Mr. Briney can I PLEASE take off my life jacket???
Satoshi:(sarcastically) No, no! Keep it on!
Melissa: SHUT UP!!!
Mr. Briney: Sorry, dear. I am driving slower, but we should still keep them on just to be safe.
Melissa: ARRGHH!!! FINE!!! THEN WHERE'S THE FOOD?!?
Mr. Briney: Umm(sweatdrops) please don't be mad at me, but....but....I didn't pack food....
Melissa: WHAT!?! YOU DIDN'T BRING FOOD!?! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!!! I MEAN, IT TAKES ENOUGH COMMON SENSE TO THINK OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!! ARRGGGGGGHHHH! YOUR SUCH A STUPID, OLD, HAG!!! I SHOULD HAVE NEVER CAME ON THIS F***ED UP BOAT!!!(she gasps and covers her mouth quickly. She usually said swears once-in-a-blue-moon)
(A tear runs down Mr. Briney's wrinkly cheek. Sathoshi saw this)
Satoshi: Melissa! There's no food 'cause this is a really short trip! See that island in the distance?(mad) THAT'S DEWFORD!!! Were almost there!
(Melissa is quiet and looks at the distant island)
Melissa: Ohh....I....I'm sorry Mr. Briney....
(Mr. Briney always forgives everyone so he forgave her)
Melissa: Really, I'm so sorry....I always have a problem remembering how to think before I speak....so, can we eat at Dewford???
Bobby:(sickly) Don't bother....look in my backpack....I got cans of food and a can opener....
Melissa: Really Bobby?!? Oh, that's good! You always have the brightest ideas, but how come you sound so sick?
(Bobby's face was pale. He covered his mouth and ran to the side of the boat and leaned over and made a disgusting sound)
Satoshi: Ewww....
Melissa: Shut up! It's human. The next time you throw up I'll say eww too and we'll see how you like it!(goes over and pats Bobby on the back and gives him napkins) Are you alright Bobby?
Bobby:(uses his napkins) Yeah....thanks Melis....
Mr. Briney:(chuckles) A little seasick there my boy?
Bobby:(laughs) Yeah.....
Mr. Briney: Don't worry lad....We'll soon be there....
(Melissa goes over to Bobby's backpack and searches out a can of chicken noodle soup. She opens it and warms it up in the microwave downstairs on the boat. Mr. Briney takes a break to have some too. Melissa gives some to Satoshi too but since Bobby was still a little sick, he didn't have some. A while later....)
Mr. Brinney: Don't you guys think that you should bring your pokemon out? I mean, it's really hot and they must be sweaty and cooped up in side those pokeballs.
Satoshi: Good idea Mr. Briney!(He takes out 6 pokeballs and throws them. 6 different pokemon come out. Melissa has never seen Satoshi's pokemon except Solrock)
Satoshi:(points) This is Dustox, Shiftry, Slaking, Aggron, and Milotic. You already know Solrock.(and yes these are real pokemon! If you've never played Ruby/Sapphire then obviously you don't have a clue)
(Melissa was to amazed to look up there descriptions on her Pokedex)
Bobby: Well, these are my pokemon!(throws 6 pokeballs out too)
This is Torchick, Poochyena, Wingull, Lotad, Nincada, and Bagon!
(Melissa sadly throws out Mudkip and Slakoth and sighs. Slakoth quickly falls asleep on Melissa's shoe and Mudkip jumps off the boat. Melissa cries until she realizes that he was just swimming. They all have a good laugh. The sun is setting and everyone on beach were leaving to go home from a day of fun. Some people stayed till night to watch the stars while young couples romantically kissed under the moonlight. Bobby and Satoshi went downstairs and fell asleep in their dorm and so did all their pokemon and Melissa's Slakoth. Mr. Briney was still driving the boat, no sign of sleepiness in his eyes. Melissa on the other hand, couldn't sleep. Neither could Mudkip.)
Melissa:(sighs and looks at the stars then sweetly looks at Mudkip)Muddy? Do you think I'll ever become a Pokemon Mistress?
(Mudkip licked her cheek lovingly and she sighs again)
Mr. Briney: I think you will, lass....
Melissa: Huh?
Mr. Briney: I definitely think you will. You know, you're the first person I ever met with a lot of will power. Most people these days are always depressed and they just....give up. No, but not you. I think you will become the Hoenn region's first pokemon Mistress!
Melissa: Mr....Mr. Briney....I don't know what to say....
Mr. Briney: I know....I know lass....Now, go downstairs and get some shut eye....we'll be in Dewford by 3:00pm(checks his watch) It's 12:00pm right now. You better hurry and change in to your night things! It's almost morning! You have a big day tomorrow!
(Melissa did as Mr. Briney said and went downstairs(Mudkip followed) She went in her dorm, set her clock and laid there in bed thinking still of the wonders of the pokemon world. She didn't know how she brought up the subject, but she guessed in some point in a trainer's life they have to think of that. She just did too early. Mudkip snuggled up by her side and fell asleep quickly beneath his warm quilt. Melissa still had difficulty sleeping and turned on a nearby lamp, took out her Pokemon Trainer's Guide book and read till her eyes slowly closed....)
Clock: BRRRINNNGGG!
Melissa:(wakes up suddenly and scared, her book laying flat on her stomach) Huh?!?
(Bobby knocked on the door)
Melissa:(sitting up straight and yawns) Come in....
Bobby:(opens the door. Slakoth was STILL sleeping soundly, hanging on his neck) Melissa its breakfast.
Melissa:(gets out of bed and puts on her slippers with the Mudkip heads on them) Oh! That's a surprise! What are we having?(Mudkip wakes up and yawns and jumps out of bed)
Mudkip: Mudkip!!!
Melissa:(picks him up and Mudkip nuzzles her) Why, Good Morning!(she puts him down and he starts playing with the Mudkip heads on her slippers)
Bobby: Well, I only bought cans of food, so were not having eggs or anything like that. Instead were having baked beans.
Melissa:(moans) AWWW!!!
(They go upstairs and Melissa realizes the boat has stopped. Its still dark out. They meet Mr. Briney and Satoshi sitting on the wooden floor eating spoonfuls of baked beans(eww....) Bobby, Melissa, and Mudkip join them. Even though Melissa didn't like beans that much, after all the rumors about how they make you fart, she ate them anyway. Her Mom said always start your day with a breakfast to energize you. By 3:30pm they got to Dewford. Mr. Briney docked the boat on a small dock at the coast of the small town. Since it was still dark out not a moving car could be seen. There was hardly no pavement, just sand. 8 houses inhabited the island. There was no supermarket, no library, no car wash, no hotel, not even a town hall. The main attraction of the whole town was the Gym or Dewford Hall. The stars and the moon were still out. The cool night breeze blew sand around making a nice beachy, island scene. Mr. Briney spotted a little girl peek out the window of her parent's house, then she closed the curtains quickly)
Melissa:(putting her hands on her hips) Well....
Satoshi: Umm....it looks like people are still sleeping. The Gym's not even open yet.
Melissa: AWW!!! Come on! Does that mean we have to go back to sleep till daylight?!?
Mr. Briney:(looking at Mudkip sweetly) Well, there's nothing else for us to do, but I don't wanna go back to sleep either. The boat doesn't have heat and it's really cold out tonight. Maybe we should look for a place to stay for the night....
Melissa: But look around! There's no hotel! Not even a motel!
Bobby:(looking shamefully and sadly around the island)*sigh*I always thought that Dewford would be....intresting....like a city with a lot of attractions and famous celebrities and tall skyscrapers, almost like Rustoboro....but instead I find a sandy island with about 8 houses on it....all the books when I read when I was little lied to me! I can't believe I put all my trust in some stupid brochures!
Mr. Briney:(putting a hand on Bobby's shoulder) Ah, my boy! Dewford may be small but it has some specialties. Ever heard of Dewford Hall?
Bobby: Yes....
Mr. Briney: Well, see? That's an interesting place you heard about, right?
Bobby: I guess....
Melissa: What's Dewford Hall?
Mr. Briney:(points to a small, brick, 2-story building as the night breeze blew at his white bread) See that building other there? That's Dewford Hall. That's were Dewford citizens, expecially the teenagers, go talk about the lastest, hottest things and since this is such a small town, gossip and rumors travel around really fast.
Melissa: That's something good for the people of Dewford 'cause it doesn't look like there's anything to do in this town. I mean there's no library, no stores....
Satoshi: Yeah, they have to travel all the way to the next city just to shop and stuff. I don't get why some people wanna live hear.
Peach: That's causes its super....c....cool!!!
(Mudkip yips)
Mr. Briney, Melissa, Bobby, Satoshi:(all turn around) Huh???
(They see the little girl who was peeking out the window at them standing right before them. They hadn't noticed she crept out of her house, just to see them, probably cause the sand muffled the sound of her footsteps. She is wearing a cute, little, dress, her little bare feet touching the cold sand. She was holding a brown teddy bear with an eye missing and her blond hair was in little pigtails tied by ribbons. She smiled at the 4 with her big brown eyes gleaming at them. She bent down to pet Mudkip)
Peach:(stroking his head and speaking to them) Hi! I sawed yous out t...the window! Do you gots a home?
Mr. Briney:(kneels down) Umm.... Hi there little girl! What are you doing here on this cold night with out shoes on?
Peach: I wants to see if you alright'd....anyway'd my name's Peach....if you don'ts gots a place to sleep, you can sleeps at my house for the night....
Melissa: Aww....
Satoshi:(even Satoshi was caught by her cute charm) Well, is it alright with your parents?
Peach:(lies)Uhhh....yeah! When I was lookings outs the window'd, I sawed to mommy, "Mommy, Mommy! Lookie! Poor people...." and then Mommy sawed "Well Peach, goes outside and tell them'd they'd can stays at our house for the night" She felted bad too....
Melissa: Oh, OK! As long as you had your Mom's permission.
Mr. Briney: Yeah. We were going to sleep on my boat, but it's really cold and my boat doesn't have a heating system, so were looking for a place to stay....so you kinda read our minds!
Peah:(her rosy cheeks gleaming in the moonlight gave her a unique glow that made her look like a real peach) c....cooooooool!!! Well, come withs me!(she takes Satoshi's hand and her cheeks glow more brightly as they walk towards her house which wasn't very far away. The small house was a cottage not made out of ordinary wood. It looked like bamboo. Peach opens the door and they go inside.)
Peach: Welcome'd to my housey!!! Yous guys can sleeps on the couch.
Mr. Briney: Uhh...thank you, Peach....
Melissa: But, there's no room for all of us to sleep on the couch.
Peach: Oh, well'd....sleeps on the floor! I'm gonna goes to bed. Good night! Don't let the beg buds bright! (She climbs up the bamboo staircase and quietly closes the door behind her as she entered her room)
Melissa: *sigh*
Mr. Briney:(speaking to Bobby and Satoshi) Boys....since Melissa is a girl we'll let her sleep on the couch....let's be polite gentlemen....understood....???
Satoshi: AWWW!!! COME ON!!! I don't see no difference!
Bobby: Understood, Mr. Briney.
Mr. Brinney:(speaking to Melissa) Melissa? Do you wanna sleep on the couch?
Melissa: Sure, thanks!(she jumps on the couch and lays there sticking her tongue out at Satoshi. He glares.)
Mr. Briney: Boys get out your sleeping bags....4 more hours till daylight....
(The 2 young men did as they were told and toke out there sleeping bags, so did Mr. Briney. Melissa, Bobby, Satoshi, and Mudkip all fall asleep. They didn't know the sun was slowly creeping up from the horizon, making it daylight, but they did wake up from a very, loud, scream)
Peach's Mom: AHHHHH!!!
(The 4(plus Mudkip)wake up suddenly and scared. They see a blond-haired, lady still in her night gown screaming her head off at them)
Peach's Mom:(scared) WHO ARE YOU!?! WHO ARE YOU!?! GET OUT MY HOUSE BEFORE I CALL THE POLICE!!!
Peach:(standing at the top of the stair case) Mommy! Don't! They're my....friends!!!(she runs, quickly down the stairs to join them and hugs Satoshi) Pleases don't Mommy!!!
Peach's Mom: FRIENDS!!! WHERE DID THEY COME FROM!?!
(Peach didn't speak)
Peach's Mom: TELL ME NOW YOUNG LADY OR I'LL CALL YOUR DAD FROM WORK RIGHT NOW SO HE CAN GIVE YOU A WHIPPIN'!!!
(Peach starts to cry)
Mr. Briney:(defending Peach) Ma'am! Please let me explain! We just arrived at Dewford yesterday at 3:30pm! Nothing was opened yet and my uhh....children didn't want to go back to sleep on my boat because they were bored and the boat was cold 'cause it ain't have no heat. So we were gonna look for a place to stay for the night. Then, your daughter spotted us through your house window and came outside to see if we were alright. Then she said, "Do you have a place to stay?" and we said no. Then she said, "That's OK you can sleep at my house!" then we asked, "Do you have your parents permission" and she told us a story about how you said it was OK 'cause you felt bad for us because were poor. Then....she just toke us inside your house so we can sleep here for the night....
Peach's mom:(Melissa gets off the couch so Peach's Mom can have a seat. She covers her face with both her perfectly manicured hands and starts to cry) Peach....how could you....lie??? I thought....I thought....I taught you better then that....here you are....at the peak of turning 6-years-old....I....can't....(sobs harder)
Peach: M....Mommy....I'm so sorrys....
Melissa: Yeah, Mrs....little girls make mistakes....I did....I still do....and I always will....I even bet you did Mrs.
Peach's Mom: But, I never did anything serious like that. I have to teach Peach not to just take complete strangers out of nowhere into my house. After all, you could have been murders....
Bobby: But, we aren't!!!
Peach's Mom: I no you aren't and I'm sorry for all the trouble Peach 'caused you.(turns to Peach)And ask for you young lady, you get a nice, long, time-out when our company leave....
Peach:(thinking it's better then a whipping) *sigh* that's okie-dokies with me....
Peach's Mom: Once again, I'm so sorry....
Mr. Briney: It's OK Ma'am. Kids, shall we leave now???
Satoshi:(yawning) OK....
(Mudkip runs to the door, scratching it, waiting to get out.)
Mr. Briney: Well, were leaving Ma'a-
Peach's Mom:(cutting him off) Oh, just call me Mrs. Nathaniel! After all, it is my name!(she giggles and picks Peach up who was sucking on her thumb with joy. Mrs. Nathaniel looked much more happier now. She was even blushing, making her have a striking resemblance with her daughter) Well, go on now! You can come visit us anytime! Peach would like that, right Peach?(Peach jumps out of her mother's arms and goes other and hugs Satoshi's leg)
Peach:*sighs*Yea....promise to come'd back somedays??
Satoshi:(puts a hand on her tiny shoulder) Of, course! We'll all miss you, Peach!(bends down and whispers in her ear, "Thank you!" she giggles and kisses Satoshi on the cheek. Everyone says Aww....the 4 and Mudkip, go out the door after saying goodbye to Peach and Mrs. Nathaniel. When they were outside they noticed everything was opened, even the gym. The people of the island were walking to neighbor's houses, talking to the postman, eating at sea-side cafes and going in and out of Dewford Hall. Melissa noticed some trainer's were entering the Gym. She got excited. The only thing they didn't notice was the eerie music coming from inside the cave northwest of Dewford)
Melissa:(bends down and sweetly looks at Mudkip) That was fun, wasn't it Mudkip!? Mudkip???
(She notices Mudkip's eyes looked funny, almost as if he was under a trans. He runs past the 4 and into the cave)
Melissa: MUDKIP!!!
Uh-oh! What has Mudkip done!? And what's that music coming from Dewford's Cave?! Could that have put Mudkip under a trans!? READ ON MY FRIENDS TO FIND OUT!!! Hey, you know....I think that's the longest and best part I wrote-so far! Remember in the 1st part I think I said I'll get better as I go on?? And man, was the first part short! I wonder what I was thinkin' then....
