~Tired Hearts~ Ch.3 Brock, May, and Max were sitting at a small table in the lobby of the Pokémon Center. They patiently waited for Ash, and May had already prepared him a plate of food from the buffet. “May, can we start eating yet? My eggs are getting cold!” Max was getting very hungry. “Of course we can’t! It’s not polite to eat before everyone is at the table. Don’t you have any manners?” May retorted. Max started eating anyway and barely listened to what May said. “May, it’s just Ash. He wouldn’t wait for us! He would be done with three plates of food before we even showed up!” Just then, Ash walked into the lobby, his gaze fixated on the floor. He heaved a sigh and then looked up. He noticed his friends waiting for him. He waved and walked over to them. “Hey guys,” he said in a quieter voice than he meant to. “Morning,” Brock said as he stood up, not even looking at Ash. He hadn’t listened to May either and was already done with his breakfast. “I’m going back up to the room. I’ll see you guys later.” Max quickly ate what was left on his plate and then stood up too. “Brock, wait up! I’ll go with you. I have to check my e-mail,” Max said following Brock out of the room. Ash looked down at May who was still sitting at the table. “Aren’t you gonna go with them?” He asked. May blinked. “Oh, uh, no. I haven’t started eating yet.” “Oh,” Ash replied. “Well, I guess I’ll go get some food then,” he said while turning to the buffet. He was about to walk off when something stopped him. He turned back around to see that May had grabbed his hand. “Umm...actually I already got you some food,” she said gesturing to the plate next to her. “Oh, thanks. It really looks good,” Ash said, sitting down next to her. May’s face turned to a slightly redder color. “Sorry if it’s a little cold. It’s been sitting out for a while,” May said sheepishly. Ash was stuffing his face by now, but in between chewing and swallowing he managed to say, “Don’t worry about it, it’s delicious!” May couldn’t help but giggle. As they finished their breakfast May suddenly kept staring at Ash. Ash noticed it and felt a little uneasy. “May? Is there something wrong?” He asked. “Huh? Oh....” May stopped staring at him and looked down at the table. Her face turned even more red. “Come on May, is there something on your mind?” He asked trying to get her to say something. May looked back at him. “Do you think we could go for a walk in the park?” “Yeah, why not?” Ash innocently responded. The two of them got up from the table, put their dishes away, and set out for their walk in the park, close to the Pokémon Center. Meanwhile, Brock and Max were back in their room. Max was on the computer checking his mail and Brock, fully dressed, was lying on a lower bunk with his hands over his face. “Max,” Brock began, “Have you ever felt...unnoticed?” Max spun his chair so that he faced Brock. “What do you mean?” He questioned. Brock slid his hands off his face, placing them on the bed and pushing himself up so he was sitting. Well, it’s just that,” he stopped and rested his head on the wall. After an awkward pause he finished, “It’s nothing. Forget it.” “If you say so,” Max said, spinning his chair so that he was staring at the computer screen again. To be continued...
