Shattered Dreams and New Beginnings

We find our friends again on the open road Ash just won another badge but to him 
it was more than that because the gym leader he beat was Gary, but by the looks 
of it Ash isn’t too happy what could be on his mind?

“Ash, I’m asking you please may we take a brake” complained Misty as she sat 
down on a rock. “whatever” replied Ash coldly “Man what’s up with you, how come 
you haven’t talk since you won” said Brock to Ash who had sat down with pikachu 
besides him “yea Ash how come you’re upset” asked Misty sounding worried “why 
should you care, I don’t need any of you to tell my what’s wrong with me 
especially you, traitor!” yelled Ash as he pointed towards Misty. “Ash….but why 
did I do?” asked Misty confused and hurt “you know what you did, Misty, I can’t 
believe I fell in lo-” Ash didn’t finish he just left running. Misty was about 
to go after him but something stop her the words Ash had yelled at her “why 
would he call me a traitor” thought Misty then she remembered something “oh no, 
Ash wait you got it all wrong!” she yelled running after Ash leaving Brock by 
himself “um, what exactly just happened  here” he asked pikachu who was just as 
stunt as him. Meanwhile ash had stop and was having a flashback. “Gary, you 
won’t beat me” said Ash as he sent out his pokemon “we’ll see you little brat” 
he responded an threw out his pokemon. The battle was brutal, but in the end Ash 
won the fight. “ha, you lost who’s the loser now, Misty we-” but to his surprise 
Misty was running towards Gary who had fallen to the floor crying “come on Gary, 
get up its not the end of the world” she said as he started to get up “but I 
lost, this was my last chance to show my true strength to Ash I failed as a 
pokemon trainer and as a gym leader” he said as he lowered his head “don‘t worry 
there be other chances” she said as she gave him a comforting hug, but Gary  got 
overconfident and kissed her, being Misty’s first kiss she didn‘t know how to 
react so she just accepted the kiss. Ash seeing this got an expression of 
sadness, jealousy,  and anger on his face. “how could she do this to me” thought 
Ash “well she can stay with him for all I care”. He grabbed his new badge and 
stormed out of the gym not hearing what Misty had said to Gary afterwards. End 
flashback. “I can’t believe her, she rather kiss Gary than me” he said to 
himself tears now rolling down his cheeks “on the other hand I never expressed 
to her how I really felt about her” a few moments later he arrived at what 
seemed to be a theater and quickly realized who it belonged to “its Duplica’s 
house” he thought to himself not noticing Misty had found him and was 
approaching him from behind. “Ash wait, look I know why you are angry its all 
because of what Gary did, isn’t it?” said Misty as she caught her breath “why 
should I care, all you ever do is ignore, hurt, and now betray me, for all I 
care you can go with him if you want it‘s all the same to me” yelled Ash coldly 
at her, tears in his eyes again “but before you leave I want you to know what I 
really felt for you” he said in a calm voice as he turned around and started to 
lean in “Ash I…..” but Ash had already engaged into a passionate kiss with her, 
but they eventually had to let go “later Misty” said Ash as he turned around and 
started to walk towards Duplica’s theater happy he had accomplished what he 
wanted all this years. “Ash, what a surprise” said Duplica as she embraced in a 
hug with him not noticing Misty behind him “hey Duplica, what’s up” said Ash 
trying to sound as if nothing had just happened “oh please come in”. “h-he loved 
me, he really did love me” but then she remember what she had done to him “he’s 
right I always treated him like a loser, a nobody, and now I have betrayed his 
feelings for me” she thought hating herself for what she had cause. “Ash what’s 
wrong?” asked Duplica who was coming with a cup of tea “you seem, sad” she said 
noticing he had some tears in his eyes “ oh I’m ok” he responded cleaning his 
face up with his shirt. “does it have to do with….Misty” she asked just causing 
Ash to cry again “oh I’m sorry” she said hugging Ash as he cried into her 
shoulder “thanks Duplica, you’re very helpful” he said ending the hug “oh Ash 
you know I’m always going to be here for you” she said blushing “I thought she 
was my friend” Ash finally opened up “but now I can see I was wrong everybody 
laughs at me they think I’m nothing but a joke” he said “ no Ash that’s not true 
I don’t think you’re a joke, I think you are a great pokemon trainer who just 
wishes to accomplish his dream” she said as she moved closer to ash “um, Duplica 
are you ok” said Ash noticing Duplica had been staring at him for quite a while 
now “Ash I have something to tell you I….” but she just turned around blushing 
again “this is so hard” she thought “I know what I’ll do” she quickly turned 
around and kissed Ash making him fall back in the sofa she was now on top of him 
but Ash push her off him softly being careful she wouldn’t fall backwards “Ash 
I’m sorry I couldn’t help it, I love you Ash ever since I met you that day” she 
said shedding tears of sadness that Ash my not accept her “Duplica I …” he 
didn’t know what to say to her “I want to travel with you, help you on your 
quest, and love you for the rest of my life” she said shedding even more tears 
“oh Duplica I didn’t know you felt that way about me, why didn’t you tell me 
earlier?” he asked “because I was afraid, afraid that you might reject my 
feelings for you and just end up hurting my heart just like…..he did” she said 
turning to face the floor “you mean Gary , don’t you?” he asked remembering what 
Misty had done to him she just nodded. “very well Duplica, you can go with me on 
my journey” he said happily “oh thank you Ash I promise I’ll never let you down” 
she said embracing in another kiss with him. “but before we leave we have to go 
get my pikachu” said Ash he still wasn’t used to Duplica loving him but he 
thought he would eventually. Meanwhile at the camp. “oh there you are, Misty, so 
where’s Ash” asked Brock, but hearing Ash’s name, only made Misty to start 
crying again “what’s wrong Misty, why are you crying? Asked a confused Brock 
hoping to get some answers, but she just went to her tent. A few hours later she 
got up and thought she heard Ash outside her tent talking to Brock, but she 
could also hear female’s voice. “I must be dreaming, Ash will never come back…… 
not after what I done” she thought and went back to sleep. “Misty, Misty wake 
up, Ash just left” said Brock trying to wake the brokenhearted girl “huh, what 
do you mean he just left?” asked a confused Misty as she came out of her tent. 
“that’s right he just left from here he only came for pikachu, but he wasn’t 
alone….” said Brock “what do you mean he wasn’t alone, is he in trouble, did 
team rocket trap him, I swear they lay one hand on him and-” she couldn’t finish 
due to Brocks interference “no Misty, what I meant when I said that he was not 
alone, is that he was accompanied by a girl we met two years ago....Duplica” 
said Brock “he said he might come back one day to see how we were, but I doubt 
it”. “no, this can’t be, Ash why did you have to go and its all my stupid 
fault!” she yelled at herself pulling her hair “Misty get a hold of yourself 
you’re going to have to make it through this!” yelled Brock “look I know what 
you’re going through, but Ash is gone and you are going to have to accept it” 
now in a more calm voice” she just nodded seeing there was nothing else she 
could do about it she knew she would never see Ash again in her life. Six long 
years went by very slowly until one day. “Ash wake up you have to meet the 
challengers for today” said Duplica as she tried to wake the formal Indigo 
League Champion or ILC as everyone referred to him. “uh, what time is it, 
Duplica?” asked Ash as he woke up “its ten past seven your going to be late to 
the meeting with the elite four” she replied “oh yea now I remember about it” he 
said and kissed Duplica “thanks for waking me up” he said and headed to the 
restroom. Later as he came out, Duplica had made him a quick breakfast and was 
for some reason started to giggle. “what’s so funny” he asked “you are, I have 
never seen you in a suit before” she said now cracking up, Ash was about to 
argue when he saw himself in the mirror and started to laugh too and went to his 
room to change into something more modern after all he was going to fight not 
sell something. He had now change and this time he could recognize himself “yeah 
its me just same old Ash except I’m twenty-three now and Duplica is twenty-one” 
he thought remembering something “oh no, tomorrow is Duplica’s birthday I have 
to get her something, I know what it will be perfect”. As he finished breakfast, 
he got up kissed his girl goodbye and left. “Duplica, I can’t believe I have 
finally gotten in love with you” he sighed to himself, Misty was barely a memory 
now and it didn’t hurt him every time he heard her name. Suddenly something got 
him of his daydreaming with Duplica “get out of the way” yelled a young man as 
he past running by him being followed by a redhead he seemed to recognize not 
noticing she had turn around and was staring at him thinking “could that have 
been him….nah he’s out of my life” she turned around and went after the boy. 
“Whoa, that was weird, well got to hurry up now can’t be late for my first 
meeting” he thought cheerfully. A few hours later Ash had defeated nineteen 
challengers and just needed one more and he could go home to his beloved 
Duplica. “ok who’s next” he yelled to a young couple that were standing on the 
dark corner. The boy got up and went to his side, but Ash had seen him before 
“hey, you’re the one that past running me this morning you better watch where 
you are going” he yelled. “that voice where have I heard that voice before” 
thought the girl who was still in the corner “sorry about earlier, I was in a 
rush my pokemon needed attention fast” said the young man as he vowed to 
apologize “it’s ok, no big deal” said Ash “remember this is a one on one battle 
you may use all your pokemon”. Now instead of turning his cap around and 
throwing the ball like he was some kind of pitcher, he just threw the ball in 
the air and released his pokemon. “pikachu go!” yelled the ILC “very well, go 
onix” yelled the young boy as his onix came out of his pokeball. “by the looks 
of it you don’t know my pikachu” laugh Ash as a smile came over his face 
“pikachu use thunder” ordered Ash, the pikachu obeyed his master and in a matter 
of seconds the onix was out soon after that all of the boy’s pokemon were 
defeated by the same pikachu. “you did pretty good” complemented Ash “but not 
good enough. “b-but how is t-that possible” babbled the young man “training all 
your life helps” smiled Ash as he walked out of the stadium he could now go to 
his house, when he got a phone call “Mr. Ketchum I presume” asked the voice 
“yeah that’s me, how can I help you?” asked Ash “sir, we just found out your 
house is on fire we call but no one answered-” Ash didn’t wait to hear what the 
man had to say he just dropped the phone, got on his car and drove off “I’m 
coming Duplica, please don’t leave me” he thought”. minutes later Ash arrived 
with more than half of the city’s police behind his new corvette, “Duplica are 
you in there” but no answer “Duplica can you hear me” he yelled once again when 
suddenly he saw her on the window “Ash *cough, cough* Ash help me please” she 
screamed “I’m coming” he said as he threw out all his pokemon “Gyrados use surf” 
yelled Ash, soon the fire was mostly out on the bottom but it still reign on the 
top. “pick me up to that window, if I’m not out in one minute use surf ok” 
yelled Ash as he went into the house “Duplica where are you” he yelled 
desperately “here Ash, I’m right here” she yelled as she was being protected by 
ditto who had transformed into a Gyrados “good work ditto” he yelled as he 
picked up Duplica and carried her out the window follow by Gyrados now 
transformed back to ditto. “are you ok?” asked Ash as he hugged her. “I thought 
I was going to lose you, Duplica” he said starring at her beautiful eyes. “I’m 
ok Ash, thanks to you” she blushed then they kissed, but was broken by the 
paramedics who wanted to take her to see if she was injured. Two days passed 
Duplica was just check out of the hospital and for some reason Ash was a little 
nervous. “are you ok, Ash?” asked Duplica to her boyfriend “huh?, oh yea I’m….oh 
I can’t lie to you Duplica, look I got to ask you something” he said as he 
turned around and faced his girl “Duplica I’ve known over six years now and I 
think its time we unite our lives forever” Duplica’s eyes were now glittering 
with excitement, she knew exactly what I Ash was talking about “Duplica w-will 
you-” Ash couldn’t finish Due to Duplica’s kiss “yes Ash, I also want to marry 
you” she said kissing once more not noticing a young girl watching him “it is 
him, Ash Ketchum, after all this years he’s now the ILC” she thought then turned 
around and left as tears formed in her aqua eyes. The next day was going to be 
one of Ash’s best days of his life. The doorbell rang and Ash answered it “is 
Mr. Ketchum home?” asked a man who was wearing shades and dressed all in black. 
“Yes, that’s me” said Ash a little nervous “Do you have any relationship with a 
girl called Misty Waterflower?” asked the man as he showed Ash his police badge 
“well I used to travel with her six years ago, I haven’t seen or talked to her 
all this time” concluded Ash. “well you see Mr. Ketchum, Misty was found this 
morning in bad shape, apparently she had a fight with a man named Gary Oak who 
until now we don’t know his whereabouts” said the police man “well his 
grandfather lives in pallet town the same town I’m from” said Ash “I’m sorry for 
doing this sir, but I’m afraid you’re going to have to accompany me to the 
station, by the way is there anyone else who lives with you?”. “Well only my-” 
Ash was interrupted as Duplica came out from behind him “I live with him, I 
overheard about Misty being beaten up so I was standing back here”. “very well, 
the two of you can come” he said and they left in his car. Later in the police 
station. “Ash, how long do we have to be here” complained Duplica who was now 
tired of reading the same magazines over and over again “I don’t know we’ve been 
here for more than 3 hours……..wait her I‘ll be right back” he said as he got up 
and went to talk with the official who had brought them there “excuse me sir, 
but when are we going to leave” he asked to the young man who seemed to be 
filling something out “well I just need to finish this report then I have to 
take you to see the victim” he said and went back to work while Ash just went 
back to sit down he kept on thinking about Misty how would he react to her could 
he really hate her after all these years. Time went by slowly until Ash was 
finally called to sign some papers so they could leave to the hospital “Ash are 
you ok, you been really quiet?” asked Duplica as she hold Ash’s hand to give him 
some confidence “I’m ok Duplica, but thanks for asking” he said giving her a 
slight kiss on the lips. When they finally reached the hospital, Ash felt as he 
was about to encounter the biggest fear of his life. “come on Ash, it can’t be 
that bad” he thought “maybe she’s forgotten about it all this time, after all 
its been six long years since I last saw her” Ash was so deep in his thought 
that he did not realize they were in Misty’s room until Duplica broke his 
concentration “Ash, we’re here” she said “you can see Misty now” she knew he 
felt bad when she talked about her, but she new it was time he face reality and 
that he should at least apologize to Misty for what he had said all those years 
ago. “hey Ash, what’s up” said Misty since she saw was a little shy “Misty how 
are your injuries, did you break anything” said Ash trying to get accustomed to 
Misty one more time. “Ash I’m ok it’s just some bruises I got” she giggled and 
Ash just blushed, the two were too happy that they didn’t notice the evil grin 
Duplica had on her face. “Ash, I want to-” she was interrupted by Ash “no Misty 
I’m the one who should really be apologizing not you” he said as they stared at 
each other, Duplica was getting a little jealous but she had to withstand it if 
she wanted her plan to work. “Ash I got to tell you something…….. in private” 
she said as she looked at Duplica who suddenly had a big smile on her face. “oh 
ok, Duplica do you think you could step outside for a sec” said Ash turning 
towards Duplica “sure Ash, just don’t take too long ok” but be fore she left she 
walked towards Ash and gave him a kiss and whispered to him “I’ll be waiting” 
she then turned to Misty and gave her a quick grin and Misty got a little 
jealous, but after she closed the door, she focus on what she was about to tell 
Ash. “Look what I’m about to tell you is really true, I’m not telling you this 
because I’m jealous or anything like that I’m doing this because I lo…..what I 
meat to say is because you’re my best friend and I don’t want you to lose to 
Gary” she said in a lone tone so only she and Ash could hear them talk “what do 
you mean lose to-“ he was cut off by Misty “keep it down…. *sigh* look what I 
mean is that Gary and Duplica are teamed together so they can beat you, they 
never really split up, but did manage to split us up” she said blushing “I see 
and how do you know all of this stuff?” he asked curiously “you remember that 
boy you fought the other day, the on you defeated only using your pikachu, well 
that was Gary and the girl…..it was me” she lowered her head so Ash wouldn’t see 
her blushing crimson red “Misty…I just don’t know to believe you or not” he said 
as he walked by the window “please Ash you have to believe me look I even have 
some pictures to prove it” she quickly picked her backpack from the floor and 
took a bag out, she then  flipped it and a whole bunch of pictures came out most 
of them were of Duplica and Gary kissing, but one of them showed Gary starting a 
fire in Ash’s backyard “you mean Gary started the fire?” he asked surprised “yes 
Ash, it was Gary he started the fire to see how much you……love her” once again 
Misty hold her head down, but Ash didn’t let her this time instead he put his 
hand on her face and caressed it so she would stop worrying so much “Misty, I 
believe you, I don’t want you be depressed because of me” he said as he stared 
at her aqua eyes “I…..” that was all she could say before he kissed her, but 
they had not notice Duplica standing in the doorway starring at them until she 
finally yelled “Ash how could you do this to me after all we’ve been threw and I 
thought I had finally won your love” Ash opened his eyes quickly ended the kiss 
and turned around “Duplica…..I” but then he remembered what Misty had shown him 
“and what about you huh? All this time I thought you actually loved me and now I 
find out you were actually tricking me all this time your despicable, I can’t 
believe I actually thought I loved you!” He exclaimed “Ash….you know I love you, 
I don’t know who told you all those lies about me and Gary” she said in a more 
calm voice as she ran a finger up and down his chest. “your right” said Ash 
“there is no way I could ever stop loving you” said Ash as he embraced into a 
hug with her “and that is why we are through” he pushed her off so that she 
would leave, but instead she slapped him in the face making Ash tumble backwards 
making Misty angry “leave him alone bit-” but she couldn’t finish talking she 
was to weak from the beating “you weakling little girl, you can’t even stand up” 
laughed Duplica as she kicked Misty in her stomach “leave her alone” yelled Ash 
as she threw her off Misty “Ash…you never hit me before” sob Duplica so she 
could make Ash feel bad “I don’t care, you will not harm Misty in any possible 
way got it!” he yelled “well you know what Mr. ILC I don’t give a fuck what 
happens to you or her” she was out of her mind no one expected she would be 
carrying a gun around, but she must have her reasons. “but before I go Ketchum, 
I’m going to kill her” she pointed the gun at misty and without hesitating 
pulled the trigger. “Huh? Where am I” thought Ash as he opened his eyes “Ash 
your awake” cried a familiar voice “Misty?” he said as he sat up, but was thrown 
down by her who was on top of him “oh Ash thanks for saving my life” she said as 
she closed her eyes and kissed him passionately as Ash thought “I wonder if 
there are second rewards”……                                                FIN
