Great job, Desiree! This chapter is written by Brittany, and the next one (Chapter 5) will be by Desiree! "Excuse me," Ash almost yelled at a nurse. "What's going on?" "We've lost heartbeat." The nurse rushed past him, leaving Ash shocked and scared half to death. He raced past the other nurses and ran into the hospital room, hearing the flat line and watching it stretch across the moniter screen. His eyes slid down to look at her lifeless body. Completely oblivious to the mayhem and confusion surrounding him, Ash watched as a docter grabbed two parts of a machine and pressed it against her body as a nurse yelled, "clear!" He watched as Misty's body jerked once, then as she was shocked again, jerk once more. Tears streamed down his face, stinging his cheeks as his vision became blurry. Next to him he could see Brock shaking a bit, and tears were streaking down his face, as he stared at Misty's body. Again, Misty became shocked by the machine, and she jerked around again. Ash felt shivers run up and down his spine and he knew that there was no going back- not now. Standing stock still, Ash could feel the fear flowing through his blood. Cold, plain fear. He watched helplessly as Misty jerked once more, but something different happened- The monitor detected a hearbeat. The green line bolted upwards before falling again, the rising once more. Steadily the line that determined whether she was alive or not rose and fell, not stopping, as the Doctor stood, a bit out of breath. The fear shown in everyone's faces, and undyingly stayed, as the nurses and doctors slowly filed out of the room. Ash felt his terror replaced by relief, but he was still scared. He couldn't lose her, not yet- not now. All day and night, Ash sat by her side, his head resting on the bed she was sleeping on while he sat on the uncomfortable chair next to it. Her wrist was wrapped in his fingers, and he slept uncomfortably that night. As the morning sun's rays splashed through the window of the hospital room, Ash slowly lifted his head and opened his eyes. She was...awake? Okay, sorry for the shortness and lack of good ending, but I don't want to hog the story up by doing all of it. Besides, Desiree can add a great chapter onto this, I know it!
