Part 2: Surprise

Rating:G
Disclaimer: I don’t own pokémon. I only own my character and the official Pokémon League helicopter.

I spent the rest of the motorcycle ride trying to figure out what went wrong. My face was contorted in concentration as I struggled to get my numb mind to find some sense in my situation. The only thing I accomplished was getting me more frustrated and emotional.

When we reached the police station I was escorted by Jenny through the building. On the way we passed many different people and pokémon running around doing work. The most common pokémon were the Growlithes, which I had always admired. I might have actually enjoyed the sight if I wasn’t so focused on finding out what I was in trouble for.

“Officer, what . . . ?” I would only get that far before Jenny told me that she was not supposed to tell me anything and that all my questions would be answered in time.

Finally, we walked down the last hallway. It only contained one room. I was surprised when, while I was contemplating what horrors were behind that door, Jenny passed it. She continued on to the end of the hall which held a door to the outside.

I blinked several times as I stepped into the sunlight, partly because the light was almost blinding and partially because there was something there where I had expected only lush, green vegetation.

It was a helicopter. Not just any helicopter, an official Pokémon League helicopter. I wondered for the umpteenth time what on earth I had gotten myself into. Whatever it was, it was big. The League wouldn’t waste one of its official helicopters on just any common criminal. I was in serious, serious trouble.

I was so struck dumb by the feeling of ultimate terror that I didn’t even notice when Jenny practically dragged me onto the helicopter, strapped me into a seat, and got into the seat next to me.

The blades started their dull roar as we cleared the ground and started to head away from the city. Soon the city was gone, and all that could be seen was the beautiful scenery of forests, plains, and lakes. The picture was so peaceful, I almost felt calm. Then I remembered the situation I was in.

I tried to scream a question to Jenny over the sound of the blades. “Where are we going?”

She had to lean close to me and have it repeated to her a few times before she finally got the message. Whatever calm I had before was shattered by her answer. “The Indigo Plateau!”

I spent the rest of the flight mentally writing my will.

It took us several hours to reach our destination, and by that time I was hungry, exhausted, and frustrated. Most of my fear had been replaced by annoyance and defiance. They can’t do anything to me, I’m innocent! Once they sort this whole thing out, I’ll sue them! They shouldn’t be doing this to me! I knew most of these thoughts were irrational and stupid but it made me feel better to think of all the ways I could get back at the Pokémon League for the stress they had caused me.

The helicopter landed on a special pad on the lawn of the great building that housed the Elite Four. I left the helicopter, without having to be dragged, to find two very official looking men in suits waiting to escort me. I turned around to see Officer Jenny waving goodbye as the helicopter took off again to take her home.

My heart sank, I may not know Officer Jenny well but at least I knew her name. I would have felt a lot more comfortable with her than with nameless men who looked as if they couldn’t crack a smile if their life depended on it.

The men got on either side of me, not bothering to even see if I was keeping up with them (which I was struggling to do). They marched me through the impressive, large wood doors which were the entrance to the headquarters of the Pokémon League.

The building was impressive. On the outside it stood a full ten stories tall. The first two were accessible to trainers and had a pokécenter, pokémart, and trading center. The other floors contained dorm rooms, a hospital, classrooms, and offices. It was, in essence, its own city.

It was the top floor; however, that everyone wanted to see. The tenth floor of the building was entirely comprised of a giant, open-air battle stadium. Every year the championship was held in that arena and it was always packed to the brim with spectators. It also held promotional tournaments and other official battles.

As I entered the building I saw it was not just a pretty face. Inside, it was gorgeous with a high sloping roof and brilliant colors everywhere you looked. The walls were coated with pictures of all the champions and their pokémon, each in their victory poses as they showed huge smiles. The floor had an interesting mosaic of pokémon. I had heard at one time that it held every species known.

I was ushered away from all this brilliance, however, by my two escorts. They brought me up several floors into a large, unadorned meeting room with a stage. The walls were gray, the carpet was gray, and the door was gray.

Not very impressive, until you saw who was in it.

Author’s Note:
Diamond here. If your still reading this than I know I’ve done something right. I wrote this part quickly because my friend, who I consider to not be the best writer in the world, wrote about fifty pages of a new fanfic on a whim. I really am annoyed with her. Her story is really good, but it makes me jealous. Anyway, please read and review at diamond_and_star@yahoo.com.
Later,
