The Adventures of Diri and Sam by Diego E-mail- Werewolf1988@aol.com Category- Other Trainers Part 1- Diri meets Dratini Diri awoke very early one Saturday morning in her small, Fushia City home. Diri was a tall, 13 year old girl with striking short, light blue hair. She was very excited because she had been saving up her money for a long time, and waited all week to go to the Safari Zone. She was going to do it this time, she was going to catch a Pokemon. With this Pokemon she would finally start her journey, and she wouldnt let her parents stop her. She had tried to catch a Pokemon at the Safari Zone before, but she was so amazed by all the types of Pokemon there, she lost track of time and was called back in. Diri promised herself this wouldn't happen again. Diri quickly picked out her basic outfit, consisting of a short, red, long sleeved top and green skirt. Her parents were very traditional and wouldn't let her wear shorts like all the other girls liked to wear these days. Her parents also didn't believe in girls going on "Pokemon Jouneys". Diri watched sadly as her older and younger brothers went out on journeys, and she had to stay behind. But now, she was going to prove them wrong. She was going to catch a Pokemon. She quilckly threw on her shoes, grabbed her backpack, and snuck out of the house, being careful not to make a sound. *** Diri approached the Safari Zone. She took in a deep breath and entered the front door. "Hello, welcome to the Safari Zone", said a smiling lady sitting at the front desk. Diri payed the fee, and received 30 Safari Balls. "Please keep in mind that you have a limited time, and you have to come back if you run out of balls. Other that that, have fun and catch lots of Pokemon!" Diri approached the door to the Safari Zone. "Here I go," she said as she pushed open the door. She stared at the grassy field and tropical trees. All of the sudden a blue, spiky Pokemon zipped past Diri. "A Nidorina!" Diri exclaimed and she quickly started running after it. The Nidorina stopped and looked at Diri. "This is my chance," Diri said and she tossed a Safari Ball at the Nidorina. The Nidorina went into the ball, but then shot back out again. The Safari Ball laid broken on the ground. The Nidorina ran off again, and Diri chased after it. The Nidorina ran through lots of trees and it got farther away from Diri. Then, Diri came to a clearing, but the Nidorina wasn't in sight. Instead there was a small pond in front of her. She had never seen or heard about this part of the Safari Zone before. Diri walked over and sat down. 'Great,' she thought to herself. 'I wasted almost all of my time chasing that Nidorina, just to let her get away.' All of the sudden, a small face popped out of the pond. It was a Pokemon Diri had never seen a picture of in her life, not even in her brother's old Pokedex book she always used to look through. It had a blue body, from what Diri could see out of the water, a little white jewel on its forehead, and two white fin like ears. Diri slowly grabbed some bait out of her pack and lured the Pokemon out of the water. The Pokemon was much bigger that Diri thought, it was at least over five feet. The Pokemon was also snakelike, though not at all scaly, but very smooth. Diri was so mezmorized by the Pokemon's cute looks she took up the nerve to go up and touch it. The Pokemon did not try to escape or hurt Diri. She then took out a Safari Ball, enlarged it, and touched the strange Pokemon with the button. The Pokemon was sucked inside as a red light, the ball then closed, and automatically made a 'ding'. Diri had caught a Pokemon! "Ding dong! Diri please come back into the lobby, your session is over, Thank you," the loud speaker said. Diri headed back with her new friend. *** Diri was now in the lobby, and went up to a man who worked at the Safari Zone. "Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me what kind of Pokemon this is?" Diri released the strange Pokemon from its ball. "Wow! Young lady you are pretty lucky!" the man said. "You are one of the very few trainers who managed to catch a Dratini, who is a rare Dragon type." Diri was very happy with this news. She recalled the Dratini into her Safari Ball(Diri now sensed it was a she) and headed back home. *** Diri was nervous, her parents were up by now, but she would have to confront them sooner or later. She walked in the door. "Diriana, where in the world have you been?!?" her mother asked, calling Diri by her full name. "I was at the Safari Zone, trying to catch a Pokemon," replied Diri. "The Safari Zone and Pokemon Training is no such necesities for a girl!" her father said angrily. "You leave that up to your brothers and other men. You are not strong enough to capture and raise Pokemon!" "Daddy, just because that was the way of the "old days" in your "old country" dosen't mean that is the way things are today! And, just to prove you wrong, I caught a Pokemon! Which is more than you were able to do! Your one and only Pokemon was given to you!" "You will not talk to me nor my Raticate on such a manner! You live in my house and you will follow my rules and the rules of our people. Now give me your Pokemon!" "Never! Daddy, this is Kanto, here things are different. If you won't let me keep Dratini, then I'll leave." Diri grabbed her pack and went out the door. Her mother quickly rushed out the door after her. "You can't stop me mother, this is my destiny." "If that is what you believe, then pursue it. But take this with you." Diri's mother handed her a Pokeball. "It is a Pokemon that I caught in the "old country" when I was only a little older than you. I have kept it a secret, all these years, because of fear of how your father would react. I could only raise it when no one was around, but that is no life for a Pokemon. So take him. Live your dream, and mine." Diri's eyes filled up with tears. She smiled at her mother and started to walk off. Diri waved and her mother waved back, until they were both out of sight from eachother. To be continued...
