Chapter 2 Nurse Joy handed them back their pokeballs. "Your pokemon are fully healed" she said. "I hope to see you again." "I hope I don't need to see you again" muttered Jack to himself. "Anyway, let's get going. Vermilion City is very close." They had been walking through the tall grass for a while without anything happening. Bob's abra was floating beside him, David's squirtle was walking next to him, and Jack was carrying his magikarp. Suddenly, a pidgey landed a few yards ahead of them. "Let me capture it" Jack said. He tossed his magikarp out, then told it to use tackle. Magikarp flopped around, trying to get to the pidgey, while pidgey started laughing at magikarp. Jack kept trying, but none of magikarp's attacks actually did anything. By this time pidgey was rolling around on the ground laughing it's head off. "If you keep this up, pidgey will knock itself out just by laughing too hard." David observed. Finally, Jack got fed up with this, ran up to magikarp, picked it up, and dropped it on pidgey's head, knocking it out in one hit. Then he threw a pokeball. It wobbled a few times, but finally stopped and went "Ding!". Jack had caught his first pokemon. "Woohoo!!!!!" he shouted. Viridian was only a few miles away, so no one saw any other pokemon before they got there. When they got into town, they went to the pokemon center and got their pokemon healed. Then, Jack called pidgey out of it's pokeball. "Hello, I'm your new trainer." Pidgey cocked it's head at him. "Pidge?" "Yes, I'm your trainer now. I captured you." "Pidge!" "Hmmm+ICY-. It looks like there is a gym here" Bob said, looking at a map. "Ok, then let's see if we can get a badge." David said. They walked over to the gym, but it was closed. "Aww+ICY- Looks like we'll have to wait until pewter to get our first badge." David whined. "Oh well, we might as well go through Viridian Forest now." "Umm+ICY-.. David? The sun is setting." Jack commented. "We don't want to get caught in the forest at night, even though we all have tents." "Oh." David blushed. "That might be a good idea. I hear that the pokemon center lets trainers stay overnight for free." Oddly enough, they were the only ones in the pokemon center. "I guess everyone else stayed at Pallet overnight. " Jack commented, right before turning out the light. A man is sitting in a shadowed office, his face obscured in the darkness. The door to his room slowly creaks open. A man nervously creeps in, wearing a lab coat. The man behind the desk speaks. "You have the lab reports?" The man asks, folding his hands in his lap. He had a supremely confident look on his face, the look of a man who knows his commands will be obeyed instantly. "Yes sir," the other man replied, practically stammering in his nervousness. "In fact, the genetic manipulation of pokemon has worked even better then hoped for. Look." He pulled a pokeball out of his coat pocket and released the pokemon into the room. The white energy formed into an extremely strange looking pokemon. It looked like someone had taken the wings and tail of a charizard and put them on a electabuzz, then exchanged the eyes. The pokemon's fur wasn't the ordinary yellow of an electabuzz, instead it has a reddish tint, making it almost orange in hue. "Electazard!" It hissed. "From the name, I assume that is a cross between an electabuzz and a charizard. Correct?" "Yes sir! And this combination is more powerful then either an electabuzz or a charizard of the same level! This technique shows great promise! Soon Team Rocket will have labs set up all of the world, making super-pokemon!" "Good. Then we will crush the pokemon league and take over the world!" (The man behind the desk didn't start laughing maniacally here, but if it will make you fell better, you can imagine he did). Chapter 3 In the morning, everyone awoke refreshed, ready for a day of catching pokemon. After eating breakfast at a restaurant, and feeding their pokemon, they set off for Viridian Forest. "Wow, a caterpie!" Bob exclaimed, catching sight of the green caterpillar pokemon. "I'll catch it!" "I thought you only liked psychic pokemon." Jack commented. "I prefer them, but that doesn't mean I can't catch other kinds! And anyway, when caterpie evolves into a butterfree, it has some physic powers! Anyway, go abra!" "Abra?" "Kick that caterpie!" Abra floated over and gave the caterpie a good whack with its foot. The caterpie went sprawling. "Pokeball, go!" The white-and-red sphere wobbled for a few seconds, before the red dot on the front turned white, and went "ping!". "Yeah! I caught a caterpie!" After this exciting battle, they continued through the forest. They were attempting to shove aside some heavy underbrush when David suddenly froze. "Quiet!" He shushed everyone else. "I see a pokemon!" A small yellow worm crawled out of the bushes. "What is it?" Asked Bob. "I don't know." David pulled out his pokedex. "Weedle: a poison bug pokemon. It has a poison stinger on it's head." "I'll capture it." David said. " Go squirtle! Use water gun!" "Squirt!" Squirtle shouted as it shot a stream of water at the weedle, which slid backwards under the force of the high pressure blast. The weedle, angered by this treatment, barreled forward, stinger extended. "Quick! Use withdraw!" Squirtle pulled its limbs into its shell, and the weedle slammed uselessly against it. "Now use tackle!" The weedle went flying backwards, severely weakened, and was unable to get up. "Pokeball, go!" And with that, weedle was captured. "Yeah!" David shouted. "I caught a weedle!" "Quiet!" Jack said. "Do you want to bring on a attack by a beedrill swarm? They will attack people with almost no provocation, and I think attacking a weedle will definitely get them angry!" Seeing that he had scared them enough, Jack started to creep away through the underbrush. After a few minutes, he spotted another caterpie. He sent out his magikarp. "Why would you use your magikarp?" Bob asked, a puzzled look on his face. "It doesn't know any attacks." "I'm trying to evolve it into a gyrados before we get to Pewter" Jack responded. "How are you going to do that?" "Watch." Having said that, Jack picked up his magikarp and dropped it on the caterpie. Seeing how that didn't knock it out, he did it again and again, until the caterpie fainted. "That's how." About the fifth time he did this, his magikarp began glowing. "Whoa, it's evolving!" Jack exclaimed. "Finally. I was growing bored, just watching you drop that magikarp on innocent caterpies." Bob said, bursting Jack's mood. This conversation was going on while magikarp swelled and grew into an immense worm-like shape. "GYRADOS!!" It roared, shaking the trees and sending a flock of pidgeys flying into the air in panic. "Yes!!" Jack shouted "My magikarp evolved into a gyrados!" He then returned the dragon pokemon to it's pokeball. "That's all fine and good," David said, "But do you hear that buzzing?" "Yes, so?" "Remember that beedrill swarm you mentioned earlier? Well, it looks like your gyrados woke them up. RUN!!!!!" And with that, they made a dash for Pewter, attempting to escape the killer swarm. After a headlong dash through the forest, they finally arrived in Pewter. They sprinted straight to the pokemon center, ran in, and slammed the door shut. Then they collapsed, panting for breath, in the couches scattered around the center. "Oh dear" Said Nurse Joy, "Was that another beedrill swarm? We've been getting a lot of those for some reason. The beedrill seem very volatile around now. I guess the only thing you can do now is wait for them to go away. The sun is starting to set anyway, so you might as well stay here for the night." "Wait+ICY-" Bob said, "Weren't you in Viridian City? How'd you get here so fast?" "Oh, that wasn't me. That was my cousin. She works in the pokemon center there." "Pewter City contains Pewter Gym, a gym specializing in rock pokemon, run by Brock, the gym leader." David announced, reading off a map. "We should go there in the morning to get our boulderbadges." And with that, they went to bed. Chapter 4 In the morning, they all went to the gym. They hesitantly stepped inside. "I'm not sure about this." David said nervously, darting glances all around the seemingly dark and empty gym. "Well, looks like no one's here. Let's leave." He whirled around and practically sprinted for the doors. Before he could get outside, however, the doors slammed shut, causing him to run straight into them. "Ow", he said, his nose turning red and throbbing from the impact with the doors. Suddenly, floodlights flashed on all around the gym, revealing a man sitting in a elevated seat at the end of the gym opposite from the doors. "Who dares to challenge the mighty Brock?" The man boomed. "We do." Bob responded, stepping to the middle of the gym, followed by Jack, and, more hesitantly, by David. "Fine. The rules will be two pokemon each. No switching." Brock tapped a hidden button on his chair. Large platforms covered with rocks and boulders started to come out of the wall. The trio was forced to run for the entrance to the gym to avoid being crushed. "I see you made it to the side without being crushed" Brock said, grinning evilly. "We haven't had any injuries yet, but you can always hope. Now, who will battle first?" "I will." Jack said, stepping forward into the challengers box. "Pidgey, go!" "Ha. Your pidgey will be crushed by the might of my pokemon." Brock said confidently. "Geodude, go!" Geodude immediately went for pidgey with a rock throw, tearing up large boulders and flinging them at it. Before any of the rocks could hit it, pidgey flew up into the shadowy recesses of the gym, dodging the attack. Geodude vainly strained its eyes looking for pidgey, but was unable to find it. Suddenly, pidgey burst from the rafters with a loud "Pidge!", slapping geodude with a vicious wing attack. Geodude was momentarily stunned, but then regained it's bearings and went charging at pidgey, aiming for a tackle. Pidgey dodged, but not all the way, and geodude scored a light hit on pidgey, causing slight damage. Pidgey, angry now, countered with a quick peck, causing geodude to flinch beneath the power of the attack, then followed with a gust, spinning the opposing pokemon around. Geodude tried another tackle, but was beaten back by a savage quick attack, finally knocked out the rocky pokemon. "You have defeated my geodude, but you will not be able to beat this pokemon so easily." Brock said coolly. "Onix, go!" The gigantic rock snake came out of his pokeball roaring, then caught sight of the pidgey and tackled it, K.O.ing it instantly. "My pidgey was my weakest pokemon," Jack said, ignoring the fact that he only had two, "Gyrados, go!" The giant water dragon was also ready for a fight. "A good choice," Brock said, "My rock type onix is weak against water. Still, that will not help you." The Onix went in for a tackle at the same time the gyrados did, and the two mammoth pokemon collided, then started wrapping around each other, roaring so loud that the roof of the gym shook and dust rained down upon the contestants, human and pokemon alike, causing David and Bob to run for cover. At was all over, however, when gyrados managed to get his head turned towards Onix's face and hold a water gun on him for as long as he took to faint. "Good battle," Brock said, recalling Onix and coming over to shake Jack's hand. "You deserve this Boulderbadge." He handed Jack the gray badge. "All right!" Jack shouted, "I got the Boulderbadge!" "Who will battle me next?" Brock asked, looking at Bob and David. "I will," Bob declared, pushing past David. "Ok, but since my pokemon are unconscious, you two will both battle one of my assistant gym trainers. The first challenger will battle Davin." A tall, dark-haired teenager stepped out of the shadows at the back of the gym. "The battle will be one on one. For my pokemon, I choose Geodude." He pulled a pokeball off his belt and tossed it out onto the gym floor. White energy came out of it and formed into the rock pokemon, Geodude. "I choose Caterpie!" Bob shouted. The green caterpillar pokemon came out ready to battle. "Cater!" "Geo!" "Cater pie cat!" "Dude geo geo dude." Geodude rushed at Caterpie for a tackle, but got covered in sticky string while Caterpie dodged. Caterpie used string shot again and again, slowing Geodude down each time, until finally Geodude was caught in rapidly drying web. "Geodude, use strength! Break the string bit by bit!" Geodude seemed to glow for a moment, then started breaking strands with increased strength. Caterpie meanwhile was tackling Geodude constantly, and string shot-ing him whenever he started to break out, until finally Geodude fainted while his trainer could only look on futilely. Caterpie then started using string shot again, straight upwards. "Caterpie, what are you doing? The battle's over!" Caterpie ignored Bob, instead layering layer after layer of string shot over himself until all you could see was the string shot and a pair of eyes. "Meta+ICY- pod!" He said. "Bob, don't you get it?" Jack said. "Your Caterpie just evolved into a Metapod." "Now, there is only one of you left who wishes to challenge for a badge. You will fight my best assistant trainer." Brock announced. "Where is he? I'll take him on!" David said boastingly, feeling very confident now that both of his friends had won their matches. Someone else stepped out of the shadows at the back of the gym. Someone with long hair. "Her?!? But she's a girl!" David exclaimed. "Are you implying that my younger sister Lauren is unable to be a pokemon trainer?" Brock asked threateningly, looking ready to fight. David gulped, wishing he could take back his hasty words of a second ago. "No sir," he said nervously, "I just was caught by surprised." Jack got a goofy look on his face. "Wow." He said. "She's pretty." "I don't know." Brock responded. "I always preferred Nurse Joy or Officer Jenny. Now they are pretty." He started drooling. Lauren's eyes lit up with anger. "I'll show you. 2vs2. Cubone, go!" The bone-helmet pokemon materialized out of it's pokeball, looking like it wanted to beat up the trainer who had offended it's master. "I'll choose Weedle, then!" The poison bug pokemon came out of the pokeball and started off with a poison sting attack. Cubone smashed Weedle away with it's bone club before Weedle could sting him, then used bonemarang and smashed Weedle again. Weedle counter with string shot, trying to duplicate Caterpie's successful strategy, but Cubone dodged out of the way of most of it and was only slightly slowed. Cubone then tried another bonemarang, but Weedle ducked under it and then jumped at Cubone with a poison sting, poisoning Cubone. However, just as Weedle finished the move, Cubone caught the return of his bonemarang, and then smashed Weedle with a bone club. Weedle, groggy from the force of the attack, managed to get up again and nail Cubone with a tackle, but was then smashed by another bone club and fainted, only seconds before Cubone passed out from the poison inside him. "Grr+ICY-" Lauren ground her teeth. "I'll still beat you. Graveler, go!" The large, rock-type pokemon popped out of it's pokeball. "What's that?" David wondered, pulling out his pokedex. "Graveler, the evolved form of Geodude." The pokedex recited. Jack elbowed Brock to snap him out of his daze. "Why is your sister's Geodude evolved into a Graveler, while yours is still a Geodude?" "What? Oh. My Geodude could have evolved, but chose not to. Lauren's, however, wanted to evolve." "Eh-HEM." David cleared his throat noisily. "I believe we are trying to have a battle here." He said, glaring at Jack and Brock. "Oh. Sorry." "Good. Now, I'll choose Abra!" He threw the pokeball, materializing the physic pokemon. Graveler started off with a rock throw, where he rolled into a ball and threw himself at Abra. Abra teleported out of the way, but before he could do anything else, Graveler threw himself at Abra again. Abra teleported out of the way again, but it was clear that this cycle would continue unless one of the pokemon did something unexpected to gain the initiative. Abra was the first one to do that unexpected something. "Abra, Mega Punch!" David shouted to his pokemon. Everyone stared at him. Even Graveler stopped throwing himself around for a moment to stare at David, wondering if he was crazy. "Are you insane?!" Jack exclaimed in disbelief. "Abra is a psychic pokemon. He can't learn fighting moves!" David looked smug. "Just wait and see" he smirked. While this discussion was going on, Abra had been looking at Graveler as his fists started to glow. Suddenly, Abra sped forward with his fists extended, slamming Graveler and KO-ing him in one hit. "Well," Brock commented, into the silence following the stunning end of the fight, "I guess that shows that psychic pokemon can learn fighting moves. Anyway, you all fought very well and deserve these badges." He reached into his pocket and pulled out two BoulderBadges, which he handed to David and Bob. "It is also a tradition that a losing gym trainer gives a prize to the winner, so here." Brock pulled out three wrapped packages and handed one to each of the trio. Then he took Jack aside and whispered to him "I have a favor to ask of you. My sister Lauren needs to go on a pokemon journey, but she doesn't want to go alone and you are the first group that has come along for a while." "Your point is?" "Well+ICY- Would you and your friends mind taking her along? I'd really appreciate it. I'll even give you a rare TM if you take her along. It's called Ice Drill. I don't have much use for it anyway, seeing how this is a rock gym." "Well+ICY- Ok." "Thanks a lot!" Brock's voice became very secretive. "You know it's very hard to ask Officer Jenny out if you have a little sister standing nearby and looking disapproving." He handed Jack the TM, then called out to Lauren to come over to where he was. He took her off to the side of the gym and had a quiet talk with her, only occasionally broken by outbursts of "What?!?!" and "Those idiots!?!". Meanwhile, Jack had taken David and Bob over to the other side of the gym, and was basically getting the exact same responses from David, except louder. Eventually both Jack and Brock got fed up with arguing, and hit David and Lauren in their respective heads, then dragged them together and told them they would have to get along. They reluctantly agreed, though they both were muttering things under their breath that I can't put in print. "Aww+ICY-" Lauren complained to Brock, " They're all losers+ICY-" Then she caught sight of Jack. "Oh. Hello." She said, blushing and suddenly turning shy. Jack also started blushing and was barely able to get out a "hello". After that stunning conversation, they both just stood there looking at each other and blushing. Bob took David aside and whispered "Looks like love to me. I don't think she'll have any more objections to coming with us." "Yeah," David grumped, "but I might." Chapter 5 Jack snapped out of his daze. "Wait, wait! I noticed something!!" Everyone turned and stared. "What?" They all asked in unison. "Isn't Abra Bob's pokemon?" "Well yes, but+ICY- He may be, but+ICY- Well, possibly, although+ICY-" David was frantically trying to think of an explanation. "I know!!! It's all the authors fault!!!" (Hey!!! Don't blame me for your mistakes!!) "Well, it is. I don't own an Abra, you just suddenly wrote me in with one!!" (Well... Um+ICY-) "See!! He doesn't deny it!!" David was getting triumphant. Everyone else was starting to agree with him. (Well, you have to admit it was a good scene, right?) "I don't know+ICY- Couldn't you have described me more dramatically?" Jack asked. "And I look prettier then you described me as!" Lauren interjected. "And you should have written it like this!" Brock thrust out a large stack of papers. It read ""Wow. She's pretty." Jack said. Brock was going to respond, but a horde of beautiful girls ran in the doors of the gym, chanting his name. They lifted him up on their shoulders and carried him out. From outside could be heard many faint sounds of Brock being asked for dates." This continued on for three hundred pages. (And you spent how long writing this?) Lauren sweatdropped. "My brother has always been weird about girls." She said by way of apology. "No! Really!! That's how you should write it!!" Brock started waving his story around wildly, while shouting how his way was how the scene should be written, and that the author should change it now. Suddenly, a Charizard wandered in the door, flamethrowered Brock, and walked back out. Brock fell over, charred black. "Ow." "Where did that Charizard come from?" Bob wondered. (Sorry. He annoyed me.) "You can't just flamethrower people who annoy you! It ruins the story!" Jack was indignant. A Raichu walked in, thundershocked Jack, and walked back out. (Yes I can, and no it doesn't. And I didn't flamethrower you.) Everyone started shouting at the author. (That's it!!! Don't make me bring in MewTwo!!!) "Who's MewTwo? And you still aren't a good author!!" Lauren yelled. "Why couldn't we get a good author, who would write better, think up a more original story, make me the sole main character, and make me perfect?!?!?" An odd, cat-like pokemon walked in the door. "I am the all powerful MewTwo!! I will destroy you all!" (Feel my incredibly cheesy wrath!!!!) MewTwo shot out waves of psychic energy, slamming everyone against the wall. He then started slamming them repeatedly against the wall. After several minutes of this, he dropped them in a heap, then turned and walked out. "Hah!! Violence is the refuge of the incompetent!!" David shouted triumphantly from the floor. (Ok, everyone just forget about this. I won't bring it up, and neither will you. Ok?) "No!!! I will never let you forget this!!!" (That's it. *The author erases everyone's memory's of this entire section*) Everyone suddenly realized that they were lying in a large pile, and jumped away from each other. "What happened? The last thing I remember is arguing over whether Lauren should come." David wondered. (Something called the delete key. Hehehehe) "Did someone just say something?" (No.) "Ok. Let's get going." Three shadowy figures had watched the battles from the ceiling. "Wow," a female voice came from one of them "Those kids have some rare pokemon." "And if we catch them," went a male voice from another figure, "We might get in with the boss!" "Slow+ICY-.poke+ICY-" The third figure said affirmatively.
