The Legend of the Mergers

Part One: Battle

Ash was walking down the trail towards Fortree City with his friends, Brock, May, and Max. So far, nothing had happened today. But, pretty soon, that’s all going to change.

A trainer appeared on the road ahead of them. “Hello, Ash,” the trainer said in a calm voice. “Would you like a battle?”

“Ok, a battle sounds like fun. How about a 3-on-3?” Ash said. “Go, Grovyle!” he added, throwing the pokeball containing his Grass-type pokemon.

“Fine. Go, Altaria!” The trainer said, releasing his cloudy Dragon. “Use Dragonbreath!” he added, watching Altaria shoot out her dragon fire at Grovyle.

Ash looked as Grovyle jumped away, dodging the fire. “Use a Leaf Blade attack!” Ash yelled, as Grovyle took a long leaf and ran towards Altaria, ready to slash her.

“Wait for it,” the trainer cautioned Altaria. When Grovyle was just about to contact Altaria with the blade, the trainer yelled “Use Dragon Claw!” Altaria suddenly attacked Grovyle with her claws, KO’ing him.

“Good attack, uh, person,” Ash said, still not knowing the mysterious trainer’s name. “Well then, go, Taillow!” he yelled, returning Grovyle and releasing his bird.

“Fine. Go, Flygon!” the trainer yelled, releasing his ground pokemon while returning Altaria. “Use Secret Power!” he added, as Flygon used the strange attack her trainer had commanded.

“Dodge and use Wing Attack!” Ash yelled, watching Taillow fly up and then ram Flygon, somehow KO’ing the ground-type dragon.

“Wow, very powerful,” the trainer almost whispered. “Go, Salamence!” he yelled, returning Flygon and releasing his blue-green dragon.

“Time for my ace in the hole!” Ash said, releasing his favorite pokemon, Pikachu. “Use Thunderbolt!” Ash commanded Pikachu, as his pokemon charged and then released the most powerful electric shock ever seen.

The trainer simply smirked and said, “Hyper Beam.” Salamence released an orange beam towards Pikachu. The two collided in mid-air. The explosion was more powerful than 200 electrodes combined. When the smoke subsided, both pokemon were on the ground, fainted.

“Well, that was a great battle,” Ash commented. “So, what’s your name, anyway?” he added while extending his hand.

The trainer took Ash’s hand and replied. “Yeah, that was a great battle, and anyway, my name is Brian, and I’m from another planet.”
