The Legend of the Mergers

Part 2: Story

Author's Note: This chapter is written in first person from Brian's POV unless stated otherwise.

I am from what I think is another dimension. At least, I think so. Well, there are no Pokemon where live, anyway. I always thought that Pokemon were just creatures from video games, nothing else. Then everything changed.

I was walking home from school one day. Now, just so you know, there was this girl at school that I liked. Her name was Haley, and she was walking home a few yards ahead of me. Well, this hole appeared in the ground, and out of it came several people in blue uniforms. They instantly reminded me of Team Aqua, but I thought it couldn't be them because they weren't real.

Then, the person who was apparently their leader, who looked incredibly like Archie, the leader of Team Aqua, who didn't exist, came to the front and took out what looked to be a gun. THAT made me scared, because I knew guns were real. He pointed the gun at Haley, which made me more nervous, because I liked her, and I didn't want her to be hurt. He pulled the trigger, and a bubble came out of it. When I saw that, I just thought, What harm could a bubble do? But the bubble kept getting bigger and bigger, and it was still heading towards Haley. It eventually encircled her, pushing her inside.

I saw Haley struggling to get out, but to no success. Apparently, the bubble could only be broken from the outside. Then, Archie, for lack of a better name, pointed the gun at me and pulled the trigger. I knew from that second I had no hope of escaping.

Third Person:

Ash interrupted at this point in the story. "Why did you just give up?" he asked. "Couldn't you have gotten out of the way?"

"I could have," Brian replied. "But it would've been no use. He would've just shot again and again until it hit me. I figured it was better to save my energy until I could escape, instead of taking a chance and likely failing."

"That sort of makes sense," Ash said. "Ok, then, just continue."

"That I will:"

Back to the originally scheduled program:

I must've lost consciousness, because the next thing I could remember was waking up in a lab, chained up. "What have done to me? And what about the girl?" I demanded. The guy who shot at me in the first place laughed. "You have come to earn your birthright," he said. "What are talking about?" I asked him. He laughed again and told me this story:

Author's Note: To save space, I will not repeat the story from the prologue. If you want to hear it again, just reread the prologue.

After I heard the story, I spoke. "What does that have to do with me?" I asked.

But the man, who apparently WAS Archie, laughed once more. "Don't you understand? YOU are one of the descendants. YOU can use one of the amulets. YOU could help me realize my destiny and flood the world, thereby realizing YOUR destiny. So, what do you say?" he asked, unchaining my hand to shake his.

I responded by grabbing the key, unlocking my other hand and both feet, jumping off, and running away. Why did he expect me to help? He wanted to destroy all life! So I just kept running. I ran out, and still was running. I think I ran all night. Then I became too tired to run. But I knew they were still chasing me. Then I looked down, and saw some pokeballs on my belt! "If these are what I think they are..." I said, and released the Dive Ball. Out came my Salamence! "I don't care where we go, just get me as far away from here as possible," I told her. Then I fainted onto her back. I think she understood, because I woke up in a pokemon center. "You are very lucky, young man! That Salamence took you to a perfect place to get some rest." Nurse Joy told me. Then she gave me my pokeballs and sent me on my way.

After a few days of mindless wandering, I finally wound up here. And that is my story.

Back to Third Person:

"Wow, a whole world without pokemon," Ash said. "Must be really boring."

"Yeah, it is," Brian agreed. "But, I'd give anything to go back."

"So, what are you going to do now?" Brock asked.

"Well, I think I'm gonna go after Team Aqua, rescue Haley, and go back home," Brian said.

"We'd be glad to help you in any way possible," Ash said. And with that, they got ready to camp out for the night.
