It was a beautiful day and Ash, Misty, and Luke were waiting for some of brock delicious home cooking, but not too patiently.

“Come on Brock, how much longer, I’m wasting away over here.” Ash moaned as he rest in the shade of an elm tree. “You said it would be done in a few minutes, but it’s been half an hour!”

“Ash, it has been a few minutes. You’re just impatient.” Misty let out a sigh as she said this, knowing that she was hungry too. She turned away from the rest of the group to continue gazing out at the sunset. ‘It’s so beautiful,’ Misty thought, ‘how the entire sky will change to make the sunset. Now If Ash will change for me...’ Her thoughts trailed away as she heard Brock start harping on Ash.

“Look Ash, I’m cooking as fast as I can while still making the food taste good, now shut up and wait patiently like Misty and Luke or you won’t be getting any.” Brock went back to stirring, but a little more vigorously while he fumed. He just couldn’t believe how rude Ash was being. Brock glanced over to Luke and saw that he was asleep. “See, there’s an idea Ash, go to sleep, you will stop complaining and the rest of the time I’m cooking will blow by in an instant.”

Ash decided that was a good idea, and drift away into slumber only to be woken up what felt like seconds later. Ash’s eyes fluttered open to see Misty’s cerulean-blue eyes inches from his own. Ash, not knowing what to expect, decided this was a good time to scream. And scream he did. “HOLY SH-!”

“ASH!!” Everybody stopped and stared at Luke, who was leaning against a rock , breathing hard, and clutching his heart. “ You scared the crap out of me, dude. Don’t do that, now come get something to eat before you “wither away.” Ash forgot everything that just happened, jumped on his feet, and rushed over to the amazing spread Brock had put out on a blanket and began to chow down. Misty strolled over and took a seat beside Ash and Luke decided to take a seat across from Misty. He and Misty began to eat, not as fast as Ash, but quickly enough to semi keep up with him.

The group packed up and started down the path towards the next city. “What’s the next town, Brock?” Luke asked, staring down the path at the buildings just coming into view.

“The next town should be...” Brock began, taking a quick look at the map he had purchased in the last town, “Littleroot town.”

“Isn’t that where May and Max live? We could go say hi and catch up on things.” Misty exclaimed, not noticing the rock that jut out of the shallow grass that covered the path they were walking on. As she began to fall, she closed her eyes and braced for the imminent impact with the ground, but before she hit the ground, something got in the way. She opened her eyes and glanced up to see a tall man with chocolate brown eyes and a big smile on his face.

“You all right?” Ash asked Misty, with noticeable passion in his eyes, making Misty blush. “You sure are clumsy, tripping on nothing.”

“What’s that supposed to mean!” her embarrassed look replaced by a look of anger. Ash suddenly knew that he had said the wrong thing and got really nervous and tried to turn the conversation around. Ash chuckles a bit.

“Hey, don’t start fighting you two, we still have a long way to go, and I don’t want to hear your yelling all the way to May’s house.” Luke said in an exasperated tone.

“What I mean is that you need to be a bit more careful, ok? I don’t want you to get hurt.”

Ash’s eyes were once again filled with that passion from before.

“Oh,” said Misty, blushing once more. “Well it didn’t sound that way.” Misty went to stare down the path when she got smacked in the face with a sheet of paper.

“What’s that?” Brock asked, turning to find out the cause of Misty’s muffled yell.

Misty grabbed the paper off her face and scanned over it. She let out an excited squeal and started to mumble things like, ‘this would be fun,’ and ‘I should get everyone involved.’

Luke grabbed the paper and read aloud, “ This coming Friday, Littleroot town will be the proud host of the 11th annual Poke Stars Talent competition.” Luke glanced up and gave the rest of the group a skeptical look before continuing. “ All competitors are welcome, and first prize gets an all expenses paid vacation to any of the beautiful Whirl Islands.”

“We should join the competition, you all know how much I love to dance, and I think a trip to the Whirl Islands would be a perfect for us.” Misty said, looking at Ash, but talking to the group in general. Ash wanted Misty to keep looking at him so he could gaze into her beautiful cerulean blue eyes, but Brock’s voice pulled Misty away from Ash’s chocolate brown eyes.

“That’s only if we win Misty, and some of the best performers will probably be there.” Brock told the hyperactive girl. “Our chances of winning are slim.”

“I really don’t care if we win to tell you the truth, I just wanted to have a little fun before we hit the road again.”

“Well,” Luke started, stretching a bit, “I’m game, but only if Ash and Brock get in on the fun.” Misty’s eyes lit up at the sound of Luke’s words as she stared tentatively at the two other boys.

“Well we do have nothing else to do...” Brock started to say.

“And it would be fun, I guess.” Ash finished. “All right, we’re in, but we have to get May and Max to join our merry group of performers.”

            “Ya, or we’re out.”

Luke yawned and said, I guess that settles it then.” Striking a dramatic pose, Luke pointed down the road and shouted out, “Off to Littleroot then!”
