Dane scanned his two pokemon over. They both seemed to have grown stronger in their time apart. After the battle with Venusaur, Teddiursa had caught up with Sneazle in strength, and the 2 were pretty much even now. They both seemed extremely glad to see him, as they ran up to him as he arrived. Teddiursa even removed its paws from its mouth to grip Alec’s leg. As soon as the happy reunion was over, the 3 left for the viridian city gym. The Gym itself wasn’t much. In fact, it had no walls and no roof, just what appeared to be ruins with a battlefield on top. As they entered the gym, a boy ran out, sobbing. “Are you my next victims”, the gym leader asked with a croaky voice. Alec had nothing to say the arrogant gym leader, so he merely nodded. “Come, come then, I can see you are a man of many words, lets battle and get it over with”. “Oh yes, Hagrid, Leader of the gym of discipline at your service, and who are you”? “Alec”. “Like I said, a man of many words”, Hagrid mumbled. Hagrid appeared to look at Alecs waist, and frowned at the lack of pokeballs. “I think a two on two match will suit, lad. No time limit. Begin”. And Hagrid threw out a pokeball, releasing a Ivysaur. Without even pressing the button, Teddiursa jumped out of the pokeball, eyes blazing with fury, and attacked his foe. His slash wasted the grass type, and it only just managed to defend itself. Each attack however, took a hit on the ivysaur, slowly hurting it. “Use sludge”, the old man ordered his pokemon, and Ivysaur complied. Teddiursa immediately stopped attacking, and began clawing at the goo covering its face. “Vine whip”, Hagrid said, a slight grin crossing his face. Teddiursa fell, still clawing at the sludge on its face. “razor leaf”. Teddiursa began to hurt. Slowly, it got up. Its muscles began to tense, and Teddiursa began to roar. With the roar, the goo flew off its face, but no pokemon came. No ursaring. No Teddiursa. Not even a heracross. All were gone, and a blind fury seeped its way back into the teddy bear pokemon, until it began to glow. Slowly, it grew bigger, stronger, and more vicious, until teddiursa was taller then 2 Alec’s. But teddiursa was now ursaring, and very very angry. Too stunned to give his newly evolved pokemon an order, Ursaring just attacked straight out, using an intense slash attack, finishing off the ivysaur. But as the ivysaur lay unconscious, Ursaring opened its mouth to reveal a golden ball of light. “Quick, return your pokemon. We’ve had bad experiences with Ivysaurs”, shouted Alec in an out of character yell. This time the Gym leader nodded, and returned his pokemon. “Well, you surprised me boy, and were lucky I made a bad choice, but the next pokemon leaves you without a chance, go Venusaur”. And then, the huge grass type emerged from its ball, and the familiar angry look crossed Ursarings face. “Wrong choice, old man”, Alec said with a grin. “Anger wont save you this time boy, Sunshine Venusaur”. The sun began to shine, brighter then before, and venusaur obviously bathed in the sunlight. “Use quick attack ursaring”, Alec ordered, not knowing what the sunshine attack would do. As Ursaring hit the huge grass type pokemon, its bulb began to glow fiercely, and Alec finally knew what the sunshine was doing. “Get back ursaring”, he yelled as the Venusaur prepared to fire. “Lock on Venusaur”. The venusaur appeared to study the ursaring, until its eyes followed the bear pokemon wherever it went. “Brace yourself”. Ursaring suddenly stopped in it’s tracks. Its faced the venusaur, and its eyes went gold. “Solar Beam”. “Hyper Beam”. The two attacks shot like 2 shooting stars, both aiming directly at the foe, and both collided, creating a ball of green and gold energy between them. The ball got bigger, as the 2 enemies refused to give up. The tension grew, sweat soaked Ursarings face, until the ball exploded. Both pokemon went down with the force of the explosion, only one got up. Alec ran to his pokemon, making sure no permanent wounds were inflicted. “Good job, ursaring, I couldn’t have done this without you”. “Hurry up kid, I aint got all day”. Alec thanked his pokemon again, and returned it. “Its time for revenge my dark little friend, lets slice us a piece, go Sneazle”. Sneazle appeared in front of the Venusaur, eyes glowing red, ready for battle. “Solar beam that shrimp”, the not so cocky gym leader ordered. Venusaur began his attack, but just as it readied to fire, its bulb started to flash, and the sun disappeared. Snow started to fall, and Sneazle basked in it. Alec pulled out his pokedex. “Snow storm”, the mechanical voice began. “This attack creates a small snowstorm, enhancing ice type pokemons special attacks. A rare move, mostly learned by Articuno and Piloswine”. The pokedex beeped, and shut down. “Use icy wind”, Alec commanded, and Sneazle began to glow. The wind swirled around him a few times, then shot directly at the now struggling venusaur. The venusaur appeared to stagger as the wind hit him, but continued to stand. “Razor leaf”, The man almost screamed, refusing to admit defeat. The venusaur let fly a pathetic razor leaf, followed by another, both missing sneazle by a metre or so. “Ok, lets finish this, ice slash”, Alec said to his pokemon, a slight grin crossing his face. Sneazles claw extended, and changed to an ice blue colour, leaving a mist behind wherever it moved, Then he charged, and slashed. The attack hit venusaur head on, and the big pokemon fell. “Well done lad, well done indeed. I thought you were an amateur when I seen you only had 2 pokemon, but appearances can be deceiving I see. Well, I know your not one for chat, so heres your badge lad, you earned it. Not many beat Venus over there”. Alec held his first badge. It consisted of a samurai sword shape, and he pinned it to his belt. “Thanks”, he said, and walked away. That night, Alec stayed in the Viridian city pokemon centre. All was going well. The local nurse joy had shown the 3 of them to a room that they could have to themselves, and they’d made good use of it. Ursaring took his own bed and Sneazle shared one with Alec, as there wasn’t much room with ursaring. The three of them had had a huge meal from a overactive chancey, and then they went and slept it off. When morning came, they were sad to leave the pokemon centre, but knew they had to. As he walked with Ursaring at his side (Sneazle had been put back in his pokeball), Alec wondered what the solar beam tm would do for him. He had no grass types, but perhaps something would show up. The cash the gym leader had supplied though would definitely come in handy at the next place they encountered. Alec had plans for a bicycle and a pack full of supplies, medical and food. While his mind was elsewhere, Alec thought he heard a voice. “Golem. Gollllllllllem”. Alec ignored the sound. He had no desire to face another fully evolved pokemon. But then he heard another sound, slightly frightened and definitely in trouble. It was almost a screech. “Psssssssssssssssssssssyduck”. The scream came again, and Alec knew he had to help. “Come on ursaring, lets help him out.”, Alec said as he turned and ran in the direction of the screaming duck pokemon. When they reached the 2 pokemon, Alec was astounded at the size of the duck, and pulled out his pokedex. “This psyduck is young, and just level 1. Usually, a psyduck doesn’t learn to swim until level 3, and wont leave the nest until level 4. In some cases however, a runt will be abandoned by the mother”. Alec felt pain for the poor psyduck, and anger at the pokedex’s words. “Save the psyduck ursaring”, Alec ordered, the anger showing in his voice. Ursaring seemed to understand, and roared a challenge at the walking boulder. Golem turned around, and stared ursaring straight in the eyes. “Gol……em”. Ursaring roared again, and the 2 charged each other. While the 2 fought, Alec released Sneazle and ordered it to bring psyduck over to him. Sneazle darted in and out in seconds, and returned with Psyduck. “Take down, good work Sneazle”, Alec said to his two pokemon. Ursaring ran at Golem, and golem ran at ursaring. Both crashed into each other, gripped hands, and fought a battle of strength. Then, golem appeared to overpower Ursaring, but the huge bear suddenly jumped, taking it’s foe into the air with it. As Ursaring reached the peek of its jump, it threw the golem as hard as it could, straight into a nearby cliff face. As the golem crashed, a rock slide began, and the golem was covered in rocks. As ursaring returned to Alec from his battle, Alec thanked him and returned him to his pokeball. The psyduck was now quietly dozing in Alec’s arms, and he felt reluctant to put it down. Finally, he tapped it on the head with a pokeball, and caught it as his own. In the back of his mind, he heard a childlike voice say ‘done’. After that, Alec and his pokemon stayed by the cliff. For the whole day they simply rested, except his new psyduck, which upon awakening began a slight training routine. First, it began with showing off it’s water gun, an attack that launched barely a meter and in small sprinkles, a rather depressing attack. Following that, with a little help from Sneazle, he taught his psyduck a scratch attack. Another pathetic excuse for an attack, it didn’t even leave a mark on Alec’s skin. All of psyducks current attacks seemed rather small compared to their capabilities, so Alec made plans to use psyduck more often in battles. When the chance for a battle with psyduck finally came, they had been walking fort almost the whole day. As they came around a corner, a young far fetched was clucking around, king of the hill on the path ahead. Immediately, Alec released Psyduck and told him what to do. Psyduck ran straight at the farfetched as fast as he could, and when he got there, he lowered his head and smashed into the side of it’s foe. Unfortunately, psyduck fell over and the farfetched began hitting him with its Leek shoot. Over and over, across the head. Then, it began to peck. Psyduck changed in an instant from happy yet scared pokemon to angry duck on a mission. The Farfetched suddenly froze, and as soon as it had realized what had happened, a water-gun was shooting it straight in the face. Not the pathetic weak one, however, but a monstrous water blast that would match any squirtles water gun, maybe even surpass it. The farfetched slammed into a tree, and fell down. Psyduck began to run again, but before it reached its foe, it jumped, and landed on top of the far fetched, executing a strong body slam attack. Far fetched fainted, and psyduck danced with glee. Almost immediately, it began to grow. Not much, but just enough to reach a regular psyducks height. Confused, Alec reached for dexter. “It is said, that pokemon with a lack of faith in their own abilities, will grow when they find that they are not as useless as they fear”. The mechanical voice ended with a beep. Ummm, I can never tell when to end my chapters, so ill end it here. If ya wanna say sumthin check my email out.
