“Use watergun”, Alec ordered, getting stuck into the match. For almost a week after finding psyduck, he had been battling anything that moved with the pokemon, and now it was perhaps the strongest looking psyduck ever. But now, psyduck was in it’s first trainer battle. The tauros took the water attack head on, but shook it off. “use stomp Tauros”, the opposing trainer ordered. Tauros reared back on two legs, just as Alec ordered a disable attack. Tauros remained on two legs, frozen solid. “Lets finish this with a skull bash attack”, and psyduck rammed the tauros in the side, knocking the poor beast out. As His foes pokemon were returned. Alec congratulated him on a good match and collected the prize for winning. As he began to leave however, psyduck hung back, as if waiting for something. “You did well too psyduck”, Alec complimented. Yet still, Psyduck stayed behind. Its eyes were silver, and each of its arms seemed to be getting bigger, musclier. Its legs also grew a little, giving them a little more running room. Then out of a bush a pair of pokemon jumped. A scyther and a pinsir. The only difference from a regular pokemon, however, was that they were both black. The scyther where it would usually green was black, and the pinsir where it was usually brown. Their eyes were a deep red colour, like blood, and their size was slightly larger. Behind them, a woman followed. She wore a tight fitting black skirt and a black top with a red R just below her chin. The top revealed her belly button, but covered up to the top of her neck. Each of her arms donned a black glove and her legs were covered by boots that went up to her thighs. “You destroyed our control over the pokemon in viridian forest. You will pay for messing with the Real Rockets”. As she finished, she brushed a green strand of hair from her face. “Get him”, she ordered her 2 pokemon. They both charged at Alec, but crashed into a invisible wall, and fell back. “Help Psyduck out Sneazle, use your slash on scyther. Use disable on pinsir psyduck”. The 2 pokemon got to work. Sneazles slash attack was met by one of scythers own, creating a pang sound like 2 swords had been slammed together, scythers blade and Sneazles claw. Psyduck was having as much trouble. His disable attack had worked, but pinsir was slowly wading through it, getting closer with each step. Alec watched Sneazle match move for move with scyther, both fighting like aged mercenaries, every move was thought out and aimed with skill. Sneazle was holding his own, so he turned back to psyduck. “Psyduck, aim your water gun for the pinsirs eyes”, Alec ordered. As psyduck released its hold on pinsir though, it quickly dived forward and used a mega-horn attack, knocking psyduck out. As psyduck fell, Alec heard a cry, and noticed Sneazle fall as well. He returned them both, and released ursaring. Ursaring came out with a roar on its lips. Both fists were glowing white now, and ready for battle. Pinsir charged him, but ursaring caught the bug type by its horns, and jumped, carrying Pinsir with him. At the peak of the bears jump, he swung, and slammed pinsir straight at scyther. The scyther dodged the attack, but pinsir fainted as it hit a rock at a bad angle. Scyther then disappeared. The girl stood smirking, and laughed as Ursaring fell over, a cut across its belly. Ursaring slowly got up, its eyes golden. As it struggled up, it noted where scyther stood, and shot the hyper beam straight at it. The dust cleared, and scyther was gone. Then, Ursaring fell over again, another slash across its chest. The red lines formed an x shape. Ursaring slowly staggered too its feet, and scythers blades began to glow. In seconds, it charged the bear. Just as it appeared to close in, however, a pair of dog like pokemon rammed it at either sides, effectively crushing it between them. A Houndoom and a Arkanine. Both then stood, and facing the fallen scyther, let go a roaring flame thrower attack. “Quick”, a girl shouted. “Use that hyper beam again, take him out”. I nodded once, and turned to Ursaring, whose eyes were already glowing. As it roared, the golden beam shot straight at its fallen foe, effectively knocking it out. “Thanks”, Alec muttered, stunned, and yet strangely scared. The girl nodded, and pointed up. A helicopter was lowering itself, and the rocket girl was hanging from a rope ladder, her 2 pokeballs in hand. Her last words as she disappeared were, “We owe you both now, watch your backs kids”. “Come”, the girl said as she turned her back on Alec, and he followed. The 2 huge fire dogs followed him, as if not trusting him, and whenever he went to say something, one would growl, so he gave up and followed silently. After an hours walk, they entered a section of the forest that didn’t seem to be on the map in the pokedex. A clearing, with small huts up in the tree’s, at least 12, and 4 big buildings on the ground. Bridges connected the tree’s, and ladders led to the ground from certain tree’s. They walked through a gateway, although it was open, and that was when Alec realized that the place was fortified. Primeape and Aipom were swinging through the tree’s, each watching the 2 entrances with keen interest. Growlithe and houndour decked the ground, as well as a few Houndoom and Arkanine. Besides these, many other pokemon were working among the people, carrying water, slicing vegetables, watering plants, tending livestock. All in all, for an unmapped village, it was huge. The people all seemed to stop and stare for a minute as he passed them, but after he had gone, they went back to work. “Wait”, the girl said as they stopped outside the biggest building on the ground. He went to reply, but the dogs growled. Half an hour later, the girl re-emerged from the building with a smile on her face. “My father would like to meet you and your pokemon, would you allow it”? “Do I have a choice”? A dark look spread across her face. “No”. “Hagzaru, strong one”, the fat man on the throne said as Alec entered a huge room filled with plants and food. Alec looked around, dumb founded. The girl who had brought him here whispered in his ear, “It’s a greeting of respect”. “Hagzaru to you too, sir”, Alec replied, slightly confused. The girl grinned, the big man also seemed to smile. “Before we talk, young man, spray your pokemon with this”. Alec looked confused, but then he heard a slight growl behind himself. The dogs. Reluctantly, he released his pokemon and sprayed the three of them. The already awake ursaring groaned with pleasure, while his other 2 companions awoke and seemed extremely happy. Once all three were up, The chief grinned at Alecs stunned face, and explained, “That was healing root juice, 1 spray on any pokemon and it will be completely healed and refreshed”. Alec merely nodded, still stunned. “My daughter says your psyduck held a dark pinsir at bay with a disable attack, is this true”? “Yes, but it was breaking through”. The chief nodded, although he appeared not to be sure whether Alec lied or told the truth. “And your bear, Ursaring, beat it with a seismic toss”? “Yes sir”. “It survived 2 slashes”, the chief said incredulously. “From the scyther, yes, although he now has scars”, Alec replied, immediately feeling guilty as he noted the cross. “And one more thing, is it true it finished off the scyther with a blast from its mouth, so strong it left the scyther smoking and unconscious”? “Yes, a hyper beam attack, after that girls”, Alec pointed at the strange girl, “Arkanine and Houndoom rammed it from both sides, and fried it with a flame thrower. Why all the questions”. “Young man, our village is often under attack from that very scyther, and only one man has ever hurt it, let alone knocked it out. That man is dead”, the chief like figure said bluntly. “Dead”? “Dead”. “It could have killed me”? “It has killed before, pokemon and person alike”. “Your daughter saved me”. “You both would have died were it not for your ursaring”. Ursaring shone with pride at the remark. Psyduck and Sneazle, however, were watching all of the fire dogs with suspicion, prepared for a fight. “Well, he is a great pokemon I am unworthy of”. “Yes, well, I have a request”. Alec suddenly wondered if the chief was going to ask him to give ursaring to him. As he began to plan an escape in his mind however, the chief said, “Take my daughter with you. She has made a terrible enemy today, and we cannot defend her here. Take her as your companion. She will need guidance in the world of men, our society is different then yours”. “But, I travel alone”. Alec replied dumbly, almost as if it was implanted in his mind and no matter what he would of said the same thing. “My girl earned her enemy saving you boy, it’s the least you could do to repay her. Teach her to train like you do. Her pokemon are strong already, but need to be stronger. Teach her and take her with you. She will be an asset. She keeps to herself most of the time, but is happy to talk anytime as well. Take her with you”. Immediately, Alec felt guilty. He had gotten her in trouble after all, and a companion would help if he had to face another dark pokemon. Perhaps he should agree. “I have 2 of them after me now, a man and a woman, a black charizard nearly killed me, and I only live by a miracle. It would be more dangerous with me then staying here. Reconsider sir”. “We have no defense against the scyther. It moves to fast. we cant knock it out anyway. She is safer with you. Take her with you”. Alec looked at the girl, she was young, at least a year younger then himself. Her long blue hair was tied up, and she word a pair of rugged looking jeans, a camouflaged tank top and a black jacket over the top, although she hadn’t been wearing the jacket before. Her eyes seemed to be pleading with him, as if she needed to escape this place as much as, maybe more then, the rocket lady. Finally, he agreed. “Ill take her with me. Whats her name”? “Terra”. A day later, they were both given supplies and sent on their way, after Alec had promised not to reveal the secret location of the village. Alec was always kept in the same place, and not allowed to wander the rest of the village, so it could keep its few meagre secrets, although he was given a list of items, including a massive supply of the healing root juice, some food, and some other unique items that Terra seemed to know the use for. “I want you to have these as well, boy. Consider it a token of my gratitude”, the chief said. “They don’t have names on them, what are the moves”, Alec asked the chief, confused while looking at the strange tms. “I don’t know, boy. They were found when the village was digging a storage cave one day and stumbled across a buried ruins. Now, you better leave. Look after my daughter”, and with that, they were turned out of the strange little village. The days passed in silence as they travelled. Terra nearly never spoke, and when they finally set up camp each night, she would find the site, stop, and motion for Alec to follow. Alec would then prepare a meal, or terra, whoever tried first, and then they would sleep. And whenever Terra did speak, it was in single words, such as “wake”, in the mornings when he slept in, or “quietly”, when they passed beedrill nests. Finally, after almost 9 days of trekking through the forest, they reached an exit. They found themselves outside pewter city.
