The Flame of Destiny.
Chapter 1: My first pokemon
Beep, beep, beep. my alarm clock was going crazy. Drowsily I reached over
and turned it off. Hello, my name is Derek Oak and today I am starting my
Pokemon journey. Every year since the year 2003 if you wanted to be a
trainer you had to be at least 12 and pass a hard test on training and
traveling with pokemon. After that you mailed it to the Pokemon headquarters
where they selected 10 lucky winners with the best essay to become licensed
pokemon trainers. With tons of  leagues that’s only 40 a year allowed to
become trainers out of basically billions and yet I had won. I had the honor
of starting out in my very own league, Kanto, Now I am getting ready to go
to my Grandpa’s lab and pick one of ten different pokemon. I was thinking of
all this as I changed into my favorite clothes, spiked my hair with gel and
left By the time I got there only two other kids had arrived. Shortly the
rest came and we were welcomed in by my grandpa. “I don’t like to keep you
waiting so I will just tell you what a fine job you did on the exam.”He said
and led us into a room with ten pokemon in small glass showcases going
hysterical at seeing us. Next gramps told us that the five pokemon were:
Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Bulbasaur,
Chikorita, Treecko, and Eevee. We got in line and looked at each pokemon.
The first one I came upon was Charmander below it was a card with
information on it. The card said:
Name: Charmander
Type: Fire
Attacks: Scratch, Ember, Growl, Tail Whip
Gender: Male
Info: This pokemon may have trouble on the first few gyms but is a very
popular starter pokemon.   I picked up the little guy and thought about
picking him. The person behind me elbowed me indicating me that the line was
moving. The next one was Cyndaquil it seemed like a very likely choice for
me. The card showed its stats:
Name: Cyndaquil
Type: Fire
Attacks: Tackle, Ember, Growl, Leer
Gender: Male
Stats: This pokemon excels in speed and attack. It is a fire type making it
a popular choice also but yet is still hard to take advantage of for the
first few gyms.
When Cyndaquil saw us his flames lit up and he jumped for joy, a good
beginning choice.
Next I came to was Torchic Its stats were:
Name: Torchic
Type: Fire
Attacks: Growl, Ember, Scratch, Peck
Gender: Female
Stats: This pokemon is a recently discovered pokemon from the Hoenn region.
It is a fire type, making it a popular choice but a bad choice for the first
few gyms.
Name: Squirtle
Type: Water
Attacks: Headbutt, Growl, Tail Whip, Water gun
Gender: Female
Stats: This pokemon great for the first gym but suffers later on

The next pokemon was a Totodile:
Name: Totodile
Type: Water
Attacks: Water gun, bite, leer, scratch
Gender: Male
Stats: This pokemon is great for the first gym but later on may not be the
best starter.
Last of the water group was Mudkip
Name: Mudkip
Type: Water
Attacks: Mud slap, Water gun, Tail whip, Growl
Gender: Male
A great solid pokemon useful throughout a trainer’s whole journey.
We finished looking at the pokemon and sat down to get them. The order we
got them was from the highest test to the lowest. I, surprisingly was first
and at once a walked over and picked up Mudkip. He had impressed me more
than Charmander and Cyndaquil plus I thought he liked me more. After this I
went up front and received my bag, Pokedex, and Pokenav. The bag I picked
was a metallic blue along with the same color of pokeballs I knew that the
type of pokemon you picked was the color of bag you got. As I sat down I
inspected the Pokenav and Pokedex. The pokedex was upgraded by the inventors
at Devon company. It was all new shipped to gramps all the way from the
Hoenn league, but the Pokenav drew in my curiosity. I new that it was also a
new marvel from Devon that my Grandpa had shipped here for the occasion.
Both items were really cool. Some things about the pokedex were that it
could find the area of a pokemon you had encountered, look at each pokemon’s
size compared to you and its cry. The Pokenav could do some things like a
map of every league once you visited it , pokemon’s stats and the info on
every trainer you have battled. As I had finished inputting all the personal
things into my Pokedex and Pokenav everyone was done selecting their
pokemon and bags. Slowly all the trainers left with their thanks to my
grandpa then I was alone with gramps. The rest of his aids went back to
their jobs and I chatted with gramps before I decided to leave. “Just a
minute,” gramps said, “There is something I want to give you, follow me.” He
led me into a room with pokeballs every where. He selected one of the shelf
and then got one from the teleporter like the ones at Pokemon centers. He
handed me the black one first “This is a little birthday gift from me,
inside is an Epi.” The next one handed me was metallic blue like my others
but with the emblem of a dragon on it. “This is from your cousin Clair, she
would not permit me to let you go on your journey without a dragon pokemon,
she here it is.” he smiled and looked me over, “You remind me of Gary when
he started his journey. All ready to go with new pokemon to become famous.”
As I left I saw him brush away a tear and walk into another room. I went
back home and packed all my things in my bag. I was surprised to find a good
supply of pokeballs and a blender for making pokeblocks with a storage
thing. I also found a sleeping bag, jacket and hat that were the same color
of my backpack. I smiled to myself when I saw the symbol of the pokemon
headquarters on it. I was and official trainer! After a teary goodbye from
my mom I left up Route 1. Pedaling through the grass I released my Epi and
Mudkip to run beside my bike (Bagon, my other pokemon from Clair sat on my
shoulder). Suddenly a pidgey squawked and jumped in front of me sending me
out of control. I barely missed a tree. I told Mudkip to tackle it, Pidgey
retaliated with a gust. “Mudkip, water gun, pokeball go!” I yelled and
happily picked up the ball when it made a “ping!” indicating capture.
As we progressed I saw a Ratta, caught it but sent it to my pc. I sighed as
I rode my bike along. I couldn’t wait for Pidgey to become a Pidgeot. Then
she could fly us anywhere, “Oh well,” I thought “It’s good exercise.”
Chapter 2: Stay at Viridian
When I got to Viridian it was nearly dark so I headed to my brother’s gym
to spend the night. It started to rain as I knocked on the gym door. I voice
answered, “Who is it?” “It’s Derek!” I yelled, “Let me in it’s raining!”
“Oh, sorry.” The voice said as the door opened. Immediately I recognized the
person as Mike, one of my brother’s gym trainers. He said hi and led me to
my brother’s house behind the gym. Gray welcomed me and I pulled out my
sleeping bag and instantly went to sleep with my pokemon on the couch. The
next morning I awoke to my brother instructing a Clefable to make breakfast.
I enjoyed a great meal of pancakes, sausages, hashbrowns, eggs and bacon.
Stuffed, I told him I was leaving. “Wait, why don’t you compete for my
badge?” he asked. I told him my pokemon were pretty low levels but he said,
“So what, I have a set of low level pokemon for beginners.”“Yes!!” I said
excited at the prospect of my first badge. He told me the rules, two on two,
winner take all. Then sent out a Spearow. I sent out my Sandshrew I had
caught on Route 22 earlier that morning. “Spearow, peck!”“Sandshrew, dig.”
My Sandshrew quickly went underground and the Spearow painfully hit the
ground. The dazed Spearow wasn’t prepared for the surprise attack and
fainted. “Good job Derek , go Nidoran!”“I recalled Sandshrew and sent out
Epi. Nidoran charged Epi with a horn attack, but I gave Gary a little
surprise. “Epi, nightshade!” I yelled. The attack hit Nidoran head on and it
staggered then fainted. Gray recalled Nidoran then came over to me. “Nice
job squirt. You just earned your first badge.” He smiled and pressed a
glowing Rookie badge into my hand. I smiled back and pinned the badge inside
my jacket. After that I said my goodbyes and was leaving when Gray stopped
me. “Take this Growlithe,” he said, “My Arcanines just gave birth and I want
you to have it as a late birthday present.” I thanked him and started up
Route 2.
Chapter 3: Viridian forest
I whistled as my pokemon and me traveled to Viridian forest I had let out
all of my pokemon and Growlithe was fitting in great. Suddenly above me
Pidgey squawked up ahead I saw a Caterpie crawling along. Before I told him
to attack Pidgey burst ahead and tackled the little worm. “Pidgey, gust!” I
commanded. The Caterpie was knocked out I threw a pokeball and caught it,
but just like the Ratta I sent it to my pc. The rest of the day passed
uneventful, my pokemon gained valuable experience especially Epi who, after
dark trained even harder (Epi is a newly discovered pokemon that is like and
Eevee but is a dark type and can only evolve into Epieon) . He also liked to
stay up and look at the stars. I also found he gained more experience at
night than day. Bruno (My Growlithe) had learned Flamethrower and Firespin.
I could buy the Fireblast TM and a fire stone in Celadon when I got there.
At 12 o’clock pm I made camp. When I was about to go to sleep a girl walked
into my camp. Se had black hair and her blue eyes shined in the firelight,
behind her was a female Vulpix. “Hi” I said. “Hi, I’m Bridget. Who are you?”
I told her who I was and what I did she said she was a trainer too. The only
pokemon she had were the Vulpix, called Vixen, a Nidoran female and a
Squirtle. She asked if she could stay and I said yes. I was surprised when
she took of a backpack like with a sleeping bag then I remembered her. She
was one of the kids who got a pokemon from Grandpa. We talked some, she
reacted the same way everyone did when they found out I was of Gary and
Prof. Oaks relation. After that I recalled all my pokemon but Epi and we
fell asleep.
                       ..........
Over the next few days Bridget and I became good friends. We talked about
our pokemon, laughed, and above all else battled and caught pokemon. I found
out she was the niece of Prof Ivy but the reason she got her starter from
Prof Oak was because her aunt was going to give her a special pokemon when
she had all 8 Kanto badges. Every morning was the same, get up eat
breakfast, pack, then leave but form the start something was different from
this one.
Chapter 4: Pidgey flies

As Bridget and me were packing after an excellent meal (Bridget was a
superb cook) I noticed a kid wearing khaki shorts and carrying a bug net.
“He mut be a bug catcher.” I told Bridget. Before she could reply he yelled,
“Hey you, kid, I challenge you to a pokemon battle!” Furious of him calling
me a kid when he wasn’t even as old as me I accepted!
                       .........

The battle had been going on for about a half and hour, yet nobody had been
defeated. For a bug catcher I must say he was stressing his name. I was
fuming, I have so far I knocked out 2 Pinsirs and a tough Scyther at the
cost of Bruno and Epi. When he called out a Butterfree I knew my hope was in
Pidgey. “Go Pidgey, gust!” The wind blew the Butterfree into a tree who
reacted with a confusion. Desperate I told Pidgey to tackle. Butterfree,
already weakened from before, fainted. As Tim the bug catcher recalled
Butterfree Pidgey evolved! The light was so bright I had to close my eyes
when I opened them there stood my new Pidgeotto!
Chapter 5: Rocking in Pewter city

I stared at ceiling of the room I was sleeping in. It was the hotel Boulder
in Pewter city.
We arrived late tonight so I have to wait until tomorrow to challenge Brock
I let out a sigh, badge number two coming up! I woke up early the next day
and trained at the outskirts of town before the gym opened. I looked at my
watch and gasped, it was nine already!!

When I got to the gym there was already a line. While I was waiting in line
a kid behind me struck up a conversation, “So, is this your first time
battling Brock” he said. “Yep, my name’s Derek, who are you?” I replied.
“I’m Jake, this is my second time fighting Brock. My only pokemon are
Cyndaquil and Pikachu. He creamed me the last time I challenged him.” Jake
said. “Hey Jake, I caught a Bellsprout in Viridian Forest and I hate them.
Why don’t you trade your Cyndaquil for Bellsprout?” “Ok, I got my Cyndaquil
from Prof. Elm in New Bark town, but then decided to get the Kanto badges
first. Cyndaquil never listens to me. She thinks that because I skipped her
home league I’m not a worthy trainer.” Jake said, “I’ll bring her out right
now.” He pulled out a pokeball and released the fiery pokemon. “Hey
Cyndaquil, how would you like a new trainer?” Cyndaquil’s response was to
shoot him with a blast of fire. “Hurry, give me Bellsprout’s pokeball, let
me get rid of this devil!” he cried.

When we got finished trading it was my turn to challenge Brock as I walked
in a little girl with a sad look on her face was saying, “Why, why? Why
Rattata couldn’t you beat him?” I stepped in to the stadium and shouted “I,
Derek Oak challenge you to a pokemon battle for the Boulder Badge!!”

   Chapter 6: My next Badge!

Brock stepped out of the shadows and said, “I Brock defend the Boulder
badge from Derek Oak. This will be a one on one pokemon battle. Go Onix!” He
said. “Go Mudkip, water gun!” I commanded. “Onix, Bide!” Onix was storing up
energy from my attack but he never got to unleash it. After two Water guns
he was down. “Well, you held up the name of Oak, I give you this Boulder
Badge and the TM Bide.” he said. I left wished good luck to Jake and left
the gym. While I was walking off I saw Bridget in line. I showed her my
badge and wished her good luck. I was headed to the Poke Center. When I saw
a woman being attacked by some Team Aqua members. Long story short, I kicked
their behinds! The woman turned out to be Brocks wife Laura Laramie. She
thanked me for saving her and gave me an Articolt. The male version of a
Ponyta was which was an Ice type. I decided to keep this stud with me. No
pun intended.

While I was waiting for Bridget to finish up I wen to see the local
novelties at the Pokemart. The Pokemart was also a pet store. They had all
sorts of pokemon you could buy. In the end I left with a Radianz a rare
dragon pokemon and a Medallion that allowed me to understand pokemon talk.
This is the first part of my story. I will include the disclaimer note down
here:
I do not own pokemon. However I do own the charecters i make up. I do not
own the pokemon from topaz. They are hers. If u want to use mine or hers.
you have to ask.
