The Child of Yawaa Yakuza, Parents Conflict and a little bit of Comedy fichave fun…

Hi! And we’re back… Welcome to the second part of The Child of Yawa and I am talking about Misty when I say the child of Yawa. Just so you guys know, I’ll kind of mix the Japanese Pokémon with the English a bit after this part. Believe it or not, there are many differences other than the language. Like the deleted episodes and scenes and the lines they make the characters say. For example, In Jirachi, Ash says at some point when he’s talking with Max about leaving friends, “And I miss HER everyday”. Obviously, this is Misty, but in the Japanese, he doesn’t really say something like that. He mentions nothing pointing to anyone. It really pisses me off.

(I do not own Pokémon… all the rest of the usual disclaimers)

I won’t be centering much on the Pokémon. The only Pokémon I’ll probably be mentioning are Pikachu and Azuril and I’ll rarely even mention them. It’ll be like they aren’t there. I really don’t know if the way I write is good… so… please review! And special thanks to Demi, who was the first one who ever gave me a review. Thanks a lot!

                Dear diary,

I really don’t know what Misty’s so worried about. She really doesn’t want to tell me AND I’ve been bugging her about it all day. What’s with her? She’s been acting very strangely since yesterday. She keeps on staring blankly into space and ignoring everything else. I’m really worried about her, but she keeps on saying it’s better if I find out for myself. What does she mean by that?

Well, it’s been a weird day… Okay sure, the sleeping with her earlier in the morning was nice, but still weird. The rest of the day wasn’t so nice. We woke up to my mom’s screaming. She was shouting something about acting according to age… What? Am I being childish again? Is that what she’s talking about? I’m sixteen years old and I do not act like a kid! That’s what I was thinking about before Misty started telling mom “Mrs. Ketchum! T-this isn’t what it looks like!” Then she started blushing when mom asked her if she was being honest and if we were doing IT…

I thought “What’s IT?” Then I thought ………”Oh… IT…” After that little wake-up call, we ate breakfast and mom kept telling us that IT should be done AFTER marriage and if we couldn’t control ourselves, then we should use contraceptives… Misty and I kept blushing through the conversation. We kept denying that we did anything and of course we didn’t! We also said that we aren’t even girlfriend and boyfriend yet. Mom replied to that happily with “YET”. Well, I guess we couldn’t fool anyone about that, but wouldn’t it be easier if we were?

Well anyway, we told mom about our change in plans. Mom started packing her things saying she’d love to come along and meet Misty’s parents and that was when Misty took my mom into another room and locked it before anyone else could come in. Me? I listened outside the door, but I couldn’t make much out of it. They turned on the TV. I did catch a little something when the show on the television when into a dramatic silence… “Mrs. Ketchum please allow me to be your son’s w---…” The last part, I didn’t hear. Why? Ask Pikachu and Azuril about why they were running noisily in the halls. Well that was it. Mom and Mist came out of the room looking like nothing happened. Mom drove us to Cerulean to meet Misty’s sisters and said to call her and tell her when she could come and visit. I asked Misty what that was about and she just replied once again with “You’ll understand once we get there” She seemed so serious and worried. And now we’re on our way to Misty, Daisy, Lily and Violet’s hometown. Misty just keeps on sleeping… Acting like it anyway… The triplets aren’t acting as talkative as usual either… Just a few more minutes… So it’s a seaside town huh?

~Ashura Ketchum, Pokémon Master, writing in a bus

Chapter Two – Home Again After Six Years

The sunlight caused Ash Ketchum to squint his eyes. The bus they were on had just come out of a long dark tunnel.  When Ash’s eyes had adjusted to the light, saw miles and miles of clear blue sea and miles and miles of sandy beaches alongside it. Ash was amazed at the sight, but not surprised. After all, this was Misty’s hometown and what would you expect other than water? His sight was then focused on the girl, who was “sleeping” on his shoulder. It was so funny how she wanted him to think that she was asleep. Ash could tell she wasn’t. Your eyes aren’t closed shut when you’re asleep. They’re just closed. Ash chuckled to himself and he noticed Misty smile slightly in her “sleep”. Ash watched her silently. Misty really was a water Pokémon trainer. The way she blended with the ocean view, even from far away, was uncanny. She looked so beautiful with water and even more in it. Ash thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world when she was surrounded by water. It was truly her element. Ash turned his attention to Misty’s sisters. They were beautiful too, but they didn’t blend in the way Misty did. Actually, they didn’t blend well in anything. So was it something you didn’t get from your parents. Ash wondered. And for the first time ever, Ash thought about what Misty’s family would be like.

He looked out into the sea and thought “I wonder what Misty’s parents are like? Are they like Misty? But then again, Daisy Lily and Violet are very different…” He looked back at the red head sleeping on his shoulder. Apparently she had really fallen asleep. Her eyes were relaxed now. “A water trainer with hair and an attitude like fire, what a combination…” Ash mumbled to himself.

He looked out again. Ocean, Ocean and much more Ocean… Then he spied something far away. It was a large house, well, not really a house. It was one of those traditional houses with the huge lots and buildings that looked like Buddhist shrines. One of those old Japanese mansions owned by samurai families or lords, it was standing on a large area of land a few meters above the ocean, where the waves constantly crashed against sharp rocks. There were no other houses or mansions in the area. Was that it? Ash’s eyes soon left the eerie, empty scenery as the bus was slowing down.

The bus stopped at a check point and men in dark suits and black shades looked inside the bus. After talking to the bus driver, the men let them through. The bus driver seemed to know the men well. The bus traveled a bit more, and then it stopped again at a large gate. The gate slowly opened in front of them and Misty suddenly sat upright after hearing it creak. Ash could tell that she was in no mood to talk to him from the way she sat up and woke up. She was a bit surprised that she had really fallen asleep and seemed to be assessing the situation. So Ash ignored her for a moment and looked out to the beach once more. There was no one there. Before the check point, he could see people, Pokémon and boats, but now, nothing. The whole beach up to the mansion was totally empty.

Ash suddenly felt worried. What would Misty’s parents be like with a place like this? He thought he felt his stomach turning, but that was only Pikachu curling up in his lap. He had to wake him up soon. The yellow Pokémon had been sleeping soundly through the trip like Azuril on Misty’s. Misty tapped him on the shoulder.

Hmmm? What’s wrong Mist? He asked.

…We’re nearly there. She replied.

Yeah, to be honest, I kind of feel nervous about meeting your family now… He said hoping Misty would reply with “Don’t be”. She didn’t, not exactly anyway. Ash was hoping that she’d say something reassuring. She seemed to be able to read his mind in her reply, but still, it wasn’t really that reassuring. Actually, it made him worry even more.

………Ash, I really don’t know what to say. I wish I could say something to make you feel better, but… my family is really different from yours or anybody else’s.  She hugged his arm and rested her head on his shoulder as to not bother Pikachu. It was clear that she was nervous too, scared even. Her hands were shaking. Ash slid them off his arm held them in his own.

Misty, everything is going to be fine. He said acting very confident. He didn’t feel that way, but he thought that maybe he could at least make Misty feel calmer. We’ll be fine as long as we stay together. He flashed one of his cheeky smiles at her. His thoughtfulness was rewarded. Misty pulled him down slightly and kissed him on the cheek. It was just a slight peck, but Ash was happy.

Thank you Ashy… she said with that smile, which Ash found to be very cute and that’s why she kept on doing it. All his nervousness faded away and hers did too. They held each other’s hand, not planning to let go until everything was settled. The bus was stopping again and this time it was in front of the mansion itself. There were two long lines of the men in black suits along the path inside the estate. Ash and Misty could feel their worry return and so they both tightened their grips. Ash woke Pikachu up as Daisy, Lily and Violet stood up and turned to them. They looked like they wanted to say something important and surely enough they did.

Pika-pi? Pikachu asked groggily. Ash didn’t answer.

… Little sister, Ashura, you two better act your best. It looks like father invited the whole family. Daisy said in a voice Ash had never heard her use before. It was serious, cold and commanding. They never called him by his whole first name before. It worried Ash. Lily looked like she was next to talk.

Ashura, I know you like to smile a lot, but don’t and don’t talk without being talked to first got it? Lily used the same voice. Ash felt shaken, but Misty seemed to know exactly what was happening. She just looked Ash straight in the eye as if telling him to listen well and that she’d stick with him through this.

We don’t have to worry about that… no one smiles in front of father, at least not when something like this comes along. Violet’s voice was the same only a bit more arrogant and yet at the same time strangely reassuring.  The whole Yawa Clan is here because of you Ashura. This is no joke. Ash thought he felt his shirt tighten around his neck, but that was only Pikachu trying to find a nice way to stay on his shoulder.

Ash looked at the sisters. None of them were smiling. Even Misty had a serious expression on her face. Then Ash realized that he did too. Daisy looked like she had one final piece of advice for Ash and she did. Misty uncomfortably woke Azuril up and pleaded with her to return to her pokéball.

Listen to me good. Watch Mystearia closely. Sit when she sits, kneel when she kneels, stand when she stands and look when she looks, but remember to listen closely to what the family is saying to you. Knowing you, you might just concentrate on following Misty and not answer back when you’re asked a question. Ash felt a little… really insulted, but he knew it to be true. He did have a tendency to concentrate too much on one thing sometimes and this wasn’t the time to lash out at someone. Misty’s family was much different than he imagined them to be. He nodded to Daisy’s final piece of advice. Finally, one of the men in the suits opened the bus door and motioned for them to follow him. He was shorter than the others and he also seemed to be younger. Still, he was scary.

Before they got outside, Misty whispered something to Ash. He thought it to be something to relax him even a bit, but no, it wasn’t. At least her voice was the same, thought Ash.

She whispered quickly to Ash …Walk at the same pace I do. Don’t walk in front of me or behind me and make eye contact only when being talked to and replying. Ash grimaced at what she said, but he chose to remove emotion from his face again afterwards. This wasn’t the time or the place.

This was it. They walked along the lines of emotionless men in black suits. Ash dared not look around by turning his head. He used only his eyes, but every time he looked away from the young man they were following, he would feel his eyes being forced back in front of him for fear of looking anyone in the eye. The walk seemed much longer than it looked. After what seemed to be hours to Ash, the looming darkness of the main hall came to view. Ash could see nothing beyond the entrance; the Gyarados decorated arc and the tall red pillars.  It was purely black. Daisy, Lily and Violet entered first and disappeared into the darkness. Then it was Ash and Misty’s turn. They stepped into the dark room. It was so dark that closing your eyes seemed to be so bright compared to this. They took a few steps then Misty tightened her grip around Ash’s hand. Ash heard her footsteps cease so he stopped too. Then, he quietly took a few steps back to keep himself aligned Misty.

There were people watching them. He could feel their piercing stares stabbing his skin. It made his hairs stand up. This was it. They were about to meet Misty’s parents. The family Misty hadn’t gone home to see in six years…

Misty’s family was a lot different than he imagined. They weren’t just some rich family with lots of loyal servants. They weren’t just politicians or rulers either. They were all these and more… Misty’s words resounded in Ash’s head “You’ll understand once we get there” and yes he did. Even with the denseness Misty kept teasing him about, he understood what Misty meant by different, by extreme and by more than what people can usually handle.

Misty’s family, the Yawa Clan, was Yakuza and Mystearia was surely one of them.

Next time on The Child of Yawa:

What I mean is… Mist-Mystearia and I aren’t ready for something like that yet. We do know each other really well, but I think that we need more time to get to know each other more… Ash suddenly felt everyone’s eyes staring at him in disbelief and fear. Not fear of him, but fear for him.

Ashura… I offer you my pride and joy… and yet you refuse! And now you’re giving me all this nonsense about getting to know each other more?... Ashura! YOU - WILL - DIE!!! A number of Yakuza suddenly stood up and held Ash down. He couldn’t move.

Father stop!!! Misty cried as she was held back by her sisters. She was desperately trying to get herself loose as her father started walking slowly towards Ash with an unsheathed blade in his hand, but her sisters were gripping onto her not her clothes. Each step made Ash feel more afraid, but he could do nothing. His face was being forced to meet the floor. All he could see was his executioner’s feet just a few more steps away and Misty desperately trashing about. He didn’t close his eyes, even though he wanted to.

Misty kept screaming for her father to stop. She was crying too. Ash could tell that even without looking at her. It was her voice. She was screaming her lungs out and her voice seemed to be breaking. Ash closed his eyes. He was ready to die. At least he knew that Misty loved him so much more than he thought. He had already achieved his dream of being a Pokémon master. The only regret he had left was his biggest one, but at least he knew that he could have lived a wonderful life with her. It was funny. All this time, he kept on telling reporters about how being a Pokémon master was his biggest dream, but now, he knew, he was wrong. Misty was his biggest dream and he was leaving her… he could feel his eyes swelling up. He had to at least say goodbye.

He forcefully raised his head to talk to Misty. Goodbye Misty. I love you more than anything or anyone else… You’re the person I care about most. Ash said loud enough for Misty to hear. She shouted even more in response, but her shouts were drowned by her father’s words.

You dare to talk to my daughter like that? DIE!!! Misty’s father raised his sword to strike.

AAAAAAAAASH!!! Misty screamed as loud as her voice could manage. Her voice echoed throughout the halls of Yawa as her father’s blade finally made contact with the floor. The force of the slash had caused it to get stuck in the flooring. The katana stayed embedded in the ground, standing on its own. It was done.

Note: this may or may not come out in the next chapter. I still have to decide, but the storyline will still be the same. The lines just might not be.
