Chapter One: The Present Young John lay in his small bed. His eyelids were shut, the clock next to his bed read ‘8:23 AM’. John finally woke up after he heard something outside. He jumped out of his small bed, as he pressed his feet upon the cold floor the blankets of his bed fell on the ground. The blankets were red, and there were atleast five stacked on each other. John had wished he had a pokemon since he knew about them, he was now twelve, his parents Loriane and Gregory Sammon stated that he would get a pokemon sometime when he was twelve. Still after a week of turning twelve he hadn’t received their promise. Yet, John wasn’t surprised being that they said he would get a pokemon when he was eleven, which never happened. John could never trust his parent’s promises, and never got his hopes up. He just though of each day as a normal, boring day. John slowly crept toward his closet, the wooden floor beneath him creaked between every step he took. He slid the door across the small rails at the bottom of the floor. He picked out a red t-shirt, and blue jeans. John slowly put on the clothes. When he shoved the shirt over his messy dark brown hair it got in his face. His dark meadow green eyes glared at the wall. He was about five foot. He also somewhat stocky, and skinny. He was brave, and smart, he spent some of his time reading and the rest watching pokemon battles in awe. “John, guess what!” John mother Loriane said with a bright smile on her face. Her long shimmering brown hair fell in her face, she pushed it back with her hand. “What..” John said in a dull voice, staring at his mother. “You got me something idiotic, but you’re not going to give it to me? Untill I’m thirteen?” John said. “Don’t use that tone with me. We got you a pokemon.” She said silently. John’s face still didn’t look excited, in fact it looked angry. “Why do you always lie? Getting my hopes up like that.” John said angrily. John’s father Greg walked straight from the hallway. He was holding a small red and white pokeball, a red device, and a backpack filled with clothes and assortments of food. John’s face then sharpened up, his smile grew larger. He stared at the pokeball, he felt as though he had finally got what he wanted… A pokemon. “John, we thought it was time to get you a pokemon… So, we did. I already registered you in the pokemon league. Also have you seen the latest news? Archeologists have discovered a island in the midst of the ocean. Anyway, here you go.” John’s father said while handing the pokeball, the thing which John that was a pokedex, and the bag filled of stuff. “So… Does this mean I can go on a pokemon journey?” John said barely able to speak. John’s father chuckled. “Of course it does, but remember to be careful… And catch all the pokemon you can. We’re counting on you!” He chortled. John stepped back, as if what just happened was unreal. A dream. John didn’t care; instead he opened the large brown door and stepped outside. John remembered he hadn’t ventured past Pewter City before, his parents didn’t allow him. John lived in Pallet, a small boring town with the famous Prof. Oak. John still was carrying the pokeball, pokedex, and the bag in his hand. He then shoved the pokedex in the small backpack and then put the straps on the backpack on his back, but John was still wandering what was in the pokeball. He still hadn’t dared to see what was inside. He was waiting for a battle. He didn’t care what he battled but he wanted a battle. John ran straight down the path , he passed Prof. Oak’s lab, and another house. He then saw grass atleast up to his ankles. John smirked then ran as fast as he could. He then tripped over a small rock that was stuck in the bare ground. He fell headfirst into the ground, pain shot through his whole body. He struggled to get up, and did. His pants now had dirt smeared everywhere. John didn’t care though, he was focusing on what was in-front of him; a pokemon. A small bird stood on the bare ground, pecking at it. It had muddy brown feathers on the top of it’s body, and tan feathers on the lower part. It had a magenta beak and black feathers by it’s two amber eyes. “Ppppiiddggey!” It chirped loudly bolting straight for John and pecking him. “Eh… I’ve seen the battles, I have to weaken it first… I think.” John muttered. While shooing away the small bird with his hand. He then pulled out the pokeball his father gave him and clutched it in his hand. Then he threw it. A small pokemon appeared. It’s tough skin looked purple and light pink. It had two spiky ears with green skin inside. It had various purple spots covering it’s small body, and it stood on four feet. It had to beady red eyes and two buckteeth. “Nido!” It growled angrily John stared it in awe… His first pokemon was standing before him. John pulled out his pokedex and pointed it at the small purple pokemon. The Male Nidoran. It has special muscles in it’s ears which allow it to move them. Also it can hear sounds far away. It has very deadly poison in it’s small horn on it’s forehead. “Wow, a nidoran..” John said, then he snapped out of it and peered at the small pidgey. “Ok, Nidoran! Use a um… Poison Sting!” John commanded his pokemon. It then jumped up and shot a small purple needle at pidgey. The needle hit directly in pidgey’s wing. “Pidgge!” It cried. It then moved it’s wing that wasn’t injured quickly back and fourth. A large gust of wind swayed toward nidoran. Nidoran was nudged backward but not injured much. “Ok… Nidoran! Finish it off with a tackle!” John yelled. The small pokemon ran toward the pidgey, pidgey could barely move due to it’s right wing hurting. Nidoran tackled pidgey with perfect contact, the small bird slowly swayed back and fourth; then fell down hitting the ground. John then muttered something and pulled something out of his backpack, their were five other pokeballs in his bag, and John knew what to do with these. He had watched many people battle and catch pokemon, John threw the ball in high hopes of catching it. It hit the pidgey, a red beam sent pidgey inside of the tiny ball. It shook once, then twice, then a third time reassuring it was caught. Then a red light flashed in the middle of the ball, the ball then stopped shaking. Then it flew towards John’s hand, John caught it with ease. “Nidoran! We did it!” John yelled at his pokemon with excitement. The small pokemon jumped up and down with a smile on it’s face. John threw his other pokeball returning nidoran. John had finally done it caught a pokemon his smile grew larger and larger until he couldn’t smile. He then threw both of the balls back inside of the bag. “I really need a belt for these…” John said laughing. John then pressed forward on, he then saw a small sign that read ‘Viridian City Up Ahead’. John then ran towards the sign and stared at it. He then entered a small city with many buildings. A Pokecenter, a Pokemart, a Gym, and some houses. John smirked. ”He starts my adventure… To be a pokemon master!” John muttered to himself. He slowly stared at the ground and noticed something, then it disappeared. “Hm… Must’ve been a shadow.” John muttered.
