BEGINNERS CAMP – PART 3 By: Falcon ** what Dex says That night, John dreamed that he was soaring in the clouds and the birds flew with him. He saw a mountain and flew toward it. He landed in a cave and looked around. He saw an egg, it was lying in a nest and it was covered with feathers. John crept to it and he knelt down. He held the egg and it started to glow in his hands. He held the egg closer and he could feel it crack in his arms. It broke in a million pieces and in his hands sat a baby Eevee. Its eyes glowed and it talked to him. “John…John…” it called as it stared into the boy’s eyes. “What is it you want?” John asked, trying not to be frightened by this weird Eevee. “John…a brave young lad…you will receive me today and you have to evolve me into Skyeon…the great Pokémon of the skies. Do you understand young one? When you receive an odd feather from and old man…touch me with it. Promise me that…” “I promise…I promise…” “John? John!” Austin called to him as he was waking up. “Huh? What’s wrong, Austin? It’s still 3 a.m.” John said checking his watch. “Get dressed! Hurry!” “What’s wrong?” “Just get your clothes on! And grab everything that is yours!” John did as he was told and they ran out of the cabin. No sooner had they gotten 2 feet away, the cabin blew up. John was hurled into the air and he landed on rocks and rolled into the river, unconscious. Austin, also, flew into the air and he landed on his left arm. He cried out in pain as he held his arm. The Water Flowers (obviously) were awakened by the explosion and they ran out to see what happened. The blue haired girl, Kristi, saw Austin and helped him sit up. She yelled to the other cabins to get the counselors while they took care of them. The blond, Leana, asked Austin where John was. When she saw his eyes look around and settle in one spot, she looked where he stared and screamed. There was John, all bloody and bruised. He was lying in the river and not moving. Leana ran to John and pulled him from the river. She shook him, urging him to wake up, but he did not respond. Brice saw Leana and John and he ran to them, while Steve went to Austin. Brice checked John’s breathing and pulse and said he was still alive. He rapped John in a towel and ran him to the Camp Hospital. Austin was taken there also and was soon asked what happened. He told that he awoke at 2:45 a.m. and he saw a man in the window, at the back of the cabin. He kept quiet as he heard the man put something on the rear wall, outside and left. Austin then heard ticking and he got dressed to see what it was. He saw it was a time bomb and it was set to go off at 3:01 a.m. He got his things together and woke up John, telling him to, also get dressed and get his things together. And he told of what happened after it exploded, and everyone was shocked. They went back to their cabins and slept cautiously. That morning, John awoke to find Brice shaking him. John tried to sit up, but pan shot from all over and he fell back down. Brice told Austin’s story and John was shocked. He was wanted by someone, but who? And why did they want to kill him? John pondered this and he sat up, without pain this time (trying to get to the fun stuff) and went for breakfast. Everyone was asking him questions and he ignored everyone. He ate breakfast and went with Austin, who had his arm in a sling, to talk privately. John told Austin of his dream and he was shocked to hear that his friend had the same dream but he was digging when he found the egg. The Eevee in his dream told him to evolve him into Stoneon, the great Pokémon of the ground and that Austin would receive an odd stone from an old man. They trained their Pokémon and Ponyta started to glow. He grew in size and a horn developed on his forehead. He evolved into Rapidash. Irtico also started to glow. He reared up just as his body grew larger. He, like Ponyta, grew a horn on his head and he became Articolt. Lightning saw this happening and started to run around looking for a wild Pokémon to fight. John noticed her jealousy and found a Ryhorn that could not give up a challenge. The Ryhorn ran full speed to the pony and she got out of the way just in time to see the Ryhorn fall on his face. The pony saw that the back part of the Pokémon was not shielded. “Lightning! Rolling Thunder!” John called as Quest sat on his shoulders, trying to learn all the different moves that Lightning did. Lightning stared at the Ryhorn as the clouds grew dark and thunder was heard from all over. The Ryhorn got distracted and looked at the sky. He turned around and it gave Lightning the perfect chance to win and she Thunderbolted the Ryhorn. The Ryhorn fell defeated and the horse glowed with happiness. She trotted around and she grew in size and she grew a horn. She was a bit smaller than the other horses but she was faster. She went to John placed her bare forehead against his and nickered. He pulled out a Super Potion and he climbed on her back. He poured down the healing liquid into the Ryhorn’s throat and galloped away with Quest holding on for dear life. When John got to Austin, the sling on the boy’s arm was gone and his arm was ok. Their cabin name was called and they headed for the gym. Brice and Steve greeted them and were glad that they were ok. They explained that this was an obstacle course and a fitness test. John was to go first and he stepped into the room. An intercom told John he could use any Pokémon to get through the course, but not the track. They started the clock as John ran into what was supposed to wasteland. John called out Lavitar and asked him to show him the way through the maze of stones. Lavitar’s horn glowed and he started to run. John followed and was glad he had a rock Pokémon. When Lavitar was out of sight, Quest pointed the way and they were out soon Lavitar was called back and Lightning was called out. John climbed on and they were off. They came to a river and Lightning, because she was small and quick, easily jumped the river. John directed her through a jungle and they came upon a million of Goedude. They rock throwed Lightning and she was down. John returned her and called out Spinarak and Spitefire. “Spinarak! Stick those Geodude to the floor!” John ordered as Spitefire crouched down to let him climb on his back. Spinarak obeyed and his work was done. The spider was returned and the duo was off. They came to a balloon that had a sign on it, saying, “POP ME!!” “Spitefire…see that balloon? I want you to use Swift on it to pop it…ok?” John said, and Spitefire obeyed. The balloon popped and a box fell from it. John caught the box and inside were many items. ‘Better keep these for later on,’ thought John as he told Spitefire to hurry. Up ahead, a Pidgey, Mareep, an ice pup and a Poliwag were hurt. John went to the Pidgey and the bird could not move his wing. He took a stick from what the box gave and put the stick against the wing and tied it. The Pidgey chirped and hopped up and down. Quest on the other hand was helping the Mareep. The lamb was stunned and Quest grabbed an antidote from the items and used it on the lamb. The lamb also jumped up and down. John smiled at Quest and gave him a thumbs up. Quest did the same and dodged to the Poliwag. John went to the ice pup and the pup seemed poisoned. John took three berries from the items and gave a blue one to the dog. The dog still cried out in pain and so John tried out a green one. That berry caused the dog to jump up and down, revived. Quest was still trying to figure out what was wrong with the Poliwag. The Pokémon could not talk and it was turning purple. Quest found out it was chocking and he jumped on its belly, for it was lying down. Out shot water and a chunk of food from its mouth. Quest moved its head, before the food went back in. “Well done, John! Your time was 2:99. Impressive! Now for the track,” Brice called from and intercom. John got ready and a gun sounded. John took off and raced around the track with the speed of Lightning. It seemed like forever until they told him to stop. His face and neck were drenched with sweat. His hair was messy and his eyes were calm and serious as he took in air. He was not winded or tired. He once ran over 5 miles until he was tired. He was informed that he was finished and that he would be a great trainer and that he was supposed to inform Austin that it was his turn. John walked out of a door and was blinded by the light of the Sun. Austin went in and John went into their new cabin and took a shower and changed into shorts and a blue t-shirt that really brought out the color of his eyes. He replaced his black head band with a baby blue one and gelled his hair back to normal. Austin came back and they talked about their obstacle runs, while Austin changed into a neon green t- shirt, also brought out the color of his eyes, and shorts. Austin ended with a 3:03 and got second place. They laid on the beds and went drifted to sleep while their Pikachu were getting comfy on their chests. They woke up to find an hour went by and there were Pokéballs on their chests. John sat up and Quest fell off the bed and shocked John out of shock. John was brown and he brushed himself off. Quest said sorry in Pika language and climbed up the bed. John called out the Pokémon and it was an Eevee. It cried out in joy and winked at John. John stroked the Eevee while it talked to Quest. Austin told John that he received an Eevee also. They returned the Pokémon and went to dinner (they missed lunch) with Quest and Bolt at their heels. When they sat down, the Rockin’ – Rollers started asking them questions about their reputation. “I heard you guys are the favorites of the counselors and you are liked above everyone else,” the brown haired, brown eyed boy said as he jabbed Austin in the ribs with his elbow. Austin ignored the boy and the other one started getting John mad. “Yeah! You two are the little goodie-two-shoes we’re hearing about all the time,” the grey haired, grey eyed boy snickered as he jabbed John in the ribs. “Did you know that I major in running and judo?” John smirked as he grabbed an apple for Quest, who was glaring at the boy, angrily. The boy backed off and went to his table, while the other ran for the table being told that Austin was a major in wrestling. The two smiled and were about to leave when Steve and Brice went in front of everyone to make announcements. “We want to know how many Pokémon you have before you leave the room. Anyone have just one?” Steve asked the crowd. Two boys raised their hands in confidence and put there hands down when Brice wrote this down. “Anyone have just two?” Many of the kids raised their hands and put them down again. “More than two?” John and Austin raised their hands and many looked at them with dark looks. “Are you telling us the truth boys?” “OF COURSE WE ARE!! WE HAVE NEVER LIED BEFORE IN OUR LIVES!!” Austin yelled angrily, while John stared coldly to the counselors. Many kids yelled to prove it and they did. They walked up onto the stage and threw their balls to the ground with so much anger, the floor boards shook. There stood an Arcanine, a Houndoom (a.k.a. Spitefire), a Snubbull, a Lavitar, a Spinarak, a Rapidash, a Thundrioco (a.k.a. Lightning), an Articot, two Pikachu (a.k.a. Bolt and Quest), and two Eevee. They people gasped in shock as all the Pokémon stood there confused. John and Austin stared at Steve and Brice. They both apologized in front of everyone and the Pokémon were called back and the boys left the building. John and Austin both trained and Spinarak evolved into Araidos. Lavitar was almost ready to evolve so he wondered off and found a Furret all alone. They started to fight and Lavitar won. He was starting to glow but he stopped himself. He took the Furret to John and John healed him. Lavitar dug in his bag and found an Everstone, a stone to cause a Pokémon to stay the way it is. He touched it and he glowed brightly. When the light left, Lavitar was dancing around. John understood why he did that and he caught the Furret. Austin on the other hand, caught a Hoothoot Snubbull defeated, so that it could evolve into a Granbull. They both returned the Pokémon and they went back to the cabin and slept peacefully that night.
