"You will begin your journey today. There are five gyms. They are all focused on water types. The first four are focused on dual types. For example, the first gym is focused on Water and Psychic types. You may carry up to five Pokemon. At the end of the year, there will be a Water Tournament in Water World. You will receive more information then. You all have your PokeGears. We will keep in contact and if you are lost, use the map. See you in a year. Good Luck." Tyler had just finished speaking to the trainers. Nolan and Chris had decided that morning to travel on their journey together. "Well, let's go. I'll race you!" Said Chris as he ran off, Nolan following. The two headed off into the woods. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - The boys walked through the woods. Each night, they would sleep in a small tree bedroom. Each day, their two Pokemon would train by making the holes. Occasionally they would come across a wild Pokemon and would have one of their Pokemon attack it. Chris seemed a little down to Nolan. That night, he decided to ask him why. "Chris, is something wrong." "No Nolan, well sorta'. I'm a bit sad that we couldn't keep the Pokemon we had caught, trained, and connected to." "Well, they probably took them away so we could train the Pokemon on our journey. We would beat all the leaders and trainers easily if we started out powerful. Besides, they only had us catch the Pokemon so that Suicune would choose the worthy trainers. You should be glad you even got one." "You're right Nolan, I guess I was overreacting a little." "Hey, that's what friends are for!" The rest of the night was silent. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - The next day, the boys entered a clearing. At the edge was a big lake. "Look, Chris, in the middle of the lake is Mystery Island. Home of the Psychic and Water Gym!" The boys ran over, trying to figure out how to get across. "Wait, I've got an idea." Chris exclaimed. "We can have our Pokemon make a boat!" Nolan agreed and they set off in their new boat. When they finally arrived to the shore, they headed to the Pokemon center. On the front door was a list of places to visit and see. "Look Nolan, there's a magic show at the Play house. You can even see it from here. It must be HUGE!" "Good idea Chris. Let's go check it out." The boys headed for the building. On the way, they passed an exhibit of Psychic Pokemon. Soon they arrived at the building. They walked in and got their seats. They watched a man and his Slowking juggle, make Pokemon disappear, and even made things float! Halfway through the show, there was an explosion by the door. All the pieces flew up and were floating in the air. There were a bunch of Psychic Pokemon at the door. Their leader was a Slowking. Nolan and Chris recognized the Pokemon attacking immediately. They were the Pokemon from the exhibit. "Chikorita, go! Use your Razor Leaf!" The Grass type attacked the leader. Its part Water type made it weak against grass types, and was easily KOed. Chris added his Mareep to the fight. Soon, all the Pokemon were unconscious and taken back to the exhibit. Suddenly, Mareep and Chikorita began to glow. They had evolved into a Flaafy and a Bayleef. "Congratulations!" The boys said in unison. Their new Pokemon returned with them to their seats and watched the rest of the amazing show. The rest of the show was pretty boring. The magician had been called away and a horrible replacement took his place. Soon the show was over and the boys returned to the Pokemon Center. "Hey Chris, don't you wonder who let those Psychic Pokemon loose?" "Yeah, I wonder who could have done such a thing. Oh well. We might as well heal our Pokemon and get to the gym." So, the boys waited for Nurse Joy to return with their Pokemon and headed to the Gym. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - They finally arrived at the Gym. It was a large, round, purple building with carvings of Slowkings in beautiful purple marble around the doors. Nolan and Chris walked through the doors and entered a large corridor. At the end was a clear glass door. They entered it. The moment they walked through, candles lit up around the walls and a large pool of purple water appeared. On the other side was the magician from the show they had seen earlier. "Hey, it's you!" Nolan exclaimed as he stepped up to the trainer box. "Hello, I am Psyfe. Yes, I do magic shows when I'm not battling. Slowking and I make a great team. Now, are you here to battle me?" Nolan answered yes and introduced himself. "Alright, we shall have a one on one. Not time limit. Begin." A Slowking and Bayleef appeared on the rafts in the middle of the pool. "Slowking, you know what to do. Destroy it!" The phrase sent chills up Nolan's spine, but he continued and ordered Bayleef to use its PoisonPowder then attack with a Razor Leaf. Bayleef was able to spray the Slowking with a powdery poison before it could attack. It used a powerful psychic, angering Bayleef and strengthening its attack. The attack was so strong, and adding the poison, it easily knocked out Slowking. "You battled well, Nolan. You surely deserve the Psywave badge." He handed Nolan a purple badge shaped as a wave. "Thank you Psyfe. Can you tell me the type of the next Gym?" "Yes, the next Gym will be the Electric and Water Gym. It is extremely difficult. Good luck on your journey." "Now Psyfe, you have to battle me. I'm Chris and I'm traveling with Nolan. Please, I really need the badge!" "Alright, calm down! Let's have a one on one, no time limit. I'll choose Starmie." Chris chooses Flaafy, and the battle begins. Chris orders Flaafy to use a Thunderwave, then a Thundershock. Starmie uses a Thunderbolt, but it doesn't affect Flaafy much. Starmie is charred and severely hurt, and another Thundershock it too much. It is unconscious almost immediately. "Congrats, Chris. Here's your badge. Good luck on the next Gym. I'd suggest a Ground or Grass type for both of you." The boys thank him and head off to the Pokemon Center.
