As the three adults, the teen, and two pokemon travel through the forest they seemed to have got turned around. Jessica and Flareon looked at a map as Jessiebel complained about the mud on her dress. Jessica was getting very tired of her complaining so she turned around, faced her, slapped her upside the head, then pushed her in the mud. Jessie was about to start screaming, but her daughter had run out of site.

It had been fourteen years since the Johto League and still Jessie and James never captured that Pikachu. It was disappointing having a child better than you at something that means a lot to you and you never got the chance to teach them how. James felt that feeling of disappointment. He really want to be Jessica's father again, and not just a fellow Team Rocket member. Jessie and him got married at age seventeen and had Jessica at eighteen. She never got to see them much in person. The last time they had seen her she was five. He thought negative thoughts as Jessie yelled at her rudeness.

Jessica ran with a small tear in her eye. She want to see her parent since...well...all her life, and now it was just all fantasy. She imagined a her parent nice and kind with a sense of humor like in the shows on TV.

Jessica:
Jessica you idiot! How could you ever think that anything was like on TV! You know better than that! I wish that I was never born, it wouldn't make much of a difference anyhow. Flareon Return. I want to go back to the resort. Oh, no someone's coming! Who's there?
Voice: My name's Tom.
Jessica: What do you want?
Tom: You look like you're lost.
Jessica: I'll be fine.
Tom: Let me help you to the Pokemon Center.
Jessica: Leave me alone!
Tom: No, I want to help you.
Jessica: Nothing, but death, can help me.
Tom: Don't you dare kill your pretty little self.
Jessica: I'm not pretty or little.
Tom: What is your name?
Jessica: Jessica.
Tom: Jessica, if you don't let me help on your own will I'll have to do it by force.
Jessica: Well, I'm not going.
Tom: Fine.

He picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. Jessica kicked and hit him yelling for him to let her go, but he wouldn't. Tom seemed to be nice, but rude. He was wearing a black T-shirt and tan cargo pants. Jessica after a while stopped and cooled down so he put her down.

Tom: You hurt.
Jessica: Sorry.
Tom: Well, here we are.
Jessica: Finch Town?
Tom: My dad is the gym leader here.
Jessica: What's his name?
Tom: Ash Kechum.
Jessica: WHAT!?!?!?!?
Tom: You know him?
Jessica: Just heard of him.
Tom: Never lost a gym match.
Jessica: Do you know anything about Team Rocket?
Tom: Three scumbags named Jessie, James, and Meowth.
Jessica: They are scumbags.
Tom: Well, just today they tried to steal my dad's Pikachu, again, during a match when it was charged up. They're idiots.
Jessica: I know.
Tom: You have very pretty eyes.
Jessica: *blushes* Thanks.
Tom: *blushes* No problem.
Jessica: I guess all I needed was a friend to keep me company.
Tom: Do you wanna meet my dad and Mom?
Jessica: Sure.
Tom: They're really nice, You'll like them.
Jessica: What's your mom's name?
Tom: Misty.
Jessica: Of Cerulean City Misty?
Tom: Yeah.
Jessica: Cool.
Tom: It's a long walk.
Jessica: OK, I'm gonna ride. Wanna come?
Tom: What do you mean?
Jessica: I have a Rapidash so I'm going to ride.
Tom: I have a Pikachu, an Evee, a Ledian, a Dratini, a Lantern, and a Jinx. What do you have?
Jessica: A Flareon, a Houndour, a Bellsom, a Ferrow, a Rapidash, and a Blastoise.
Tom: How long have you been training?
Jessica: Since I was five or six.
Tom: I just got done in Kanto. It took me four years to finish. I'm getting ready to go to the Johto league.
Jessica: *throws out Rapidash* Are you coming?
Tom: Why not.
Jessica: *gets on* Now, Rapa, he won't hurt you so settle down.
Tom: *gets on* Is it a boy or a girl?
Jessica: Girl.
Tom: Nice girl.
Jessica: Run Rapa.

Tom was a nice kid and he looked about her age. He was fun to be around and always got his way. Right now he was pretending to be a cowboy. Jessica laughed her head off. Soon they were at a small gym the sign said "Welcome to Finch Town Gym. Leader Ash Kechum." Jessica slightly smiled. The person that always happened to beat her parents. Jessica and Tom jumped off Rapidash as she returned it. They walked inside a small gym. The arena was a regular arena nothing special. Ash and Misty walked in. Ash shot a strange look at Jessica. She smiled and waved innocently. Tom looked at his dad.

Ash: Tom, who is this?
Tom: Jessica, I met in the woods.
Misty: Is she your girlfriend?
Jessica: No way.
Tom: I just met her.
Ash: Jessica, do you want to battle me?
Jessica: Not as a gym match, but as a regular match, yes.
Ash: One on one. I choose Pikachu.
Jessica: I choose Flare.
Ash: That Flareon won't beat Pikachu.
Jessica: Flare and I aren't intimidated by you.
Ash: Well, I our strength will.
Jessica: Quit the small talk and BATTLE!

Jessica started and finished the match in two turns. She started with a flamethrower and then a crunch attack and ended it. Ash was devested by his loss. Jessica laughed and walked back to Tom with Flareon. Flareon looked like she shared feelings with Jessica. Like they were closer than anything.

Jessica: That was a good fight Mr.Kechun.
Flareon: Flare.
Tom: You're very good with your Flareon.
Jessica: Her name's Flare.
Ash: Pikachu!
Jessica: It'll be OK. Flareon's never hurt anything that bad.
Misty: I bet you and your Flareon can't stand water type.
Jessica: Wanna bet?
Misty: Go Corsela.
Jessica: Flare, number 67.
Flare: Flareon.

Flare jumped back, forward, rolled over, back flipped over Corsela, and flamethrew it. It was a tricky move to do for a pokemon to do. Jessica picked up Corsela and hugged it.

Jessica: It'll be OK. Everyone losses sometimes.
Tom: How did you know it said that?
Jessica: I speak pokemon. I've spoke it ever since I was five.
Tom: Is that why you started training?
Jessica: Yeah, but........nevermind.
Ash: Misty, dear, lets get Corsela and Pikachu to the Pokemon Center.
Misty: Right. Tom take care of the gym.
Tom: OK, Mom.

James left Jessie and Jessiebell to go find Jessica. He was concerned something had happened to her. Then he saw two pair of tracks in the mud both were human. Both were facing the other, but one had disappeared. One of the two were going straight, from the view he was in. That was the way to the town where they met Jessica, Finch Town.

James wiped a tear from his eye and ran the rest of the way to the town. When he got there the foot print disappeared. He saw the twerp and his wife run into the Pokemon Center. He decided to the gym. Maybe they left the Pikachu there.

At the gym he went inside like a regular person. He stopped at the site of Tom and Jessica sitting on the floor playing with their Pokemon.

Tom: Team....wait a minute...where are the other two?
James: I don't know.
Jessica: Who is he?
Tom: Team Rocket.
Jessica: Oh, OK.
James: Come here, little girl.
Jessica: Drop dead.
James: Smartalick, are you?
Jessica: Loser. Listen, Tom, I want to check out the town so I going to be gone a while is that OK?
Tom: Sure, after we defeat this loser.
Jessica: *walks right over to James* He won't do anything.
James: *grabs her by the neck* Oh really.
Jessica: Let me go!
Tom: Drop her.
Jessica: *throws her pokeballs to Tom* Return them and Keep them. Kenya and Rapa will help you.
Tom: Which one's Kenya?
Jessica: The Fearow.
Tom: OK.
James: *picks up Jessica and runs* Come on girl.

Jessica: Let me go, James.
James: That's dad to you.
Jessica: Never!
James: I'm calling the Boss and asking him to take you back.
Jessica: No, I want to travel with Tom.
James: No, I don't want you getting hurt.
Jessica: I may be your daughter, but I won't listen to you.
James: You will.
Jessica: I only seen you once in my life. I never wanted to see you.
James: I can't risk your life out here.
Jessica: I need my pokemon.
James: No, I don't want you training anymore.
Jessica: Training is my life.
James: *putting her down* I don't want you hurt.
Jessica: I've been hurt already.
James: *putting his hand on her shoulder* Listen, I wanted to see you. I got caught up in stealing pokemon I never got to see my own daughter, and I don't want that to happen to you. I love you, Jessica, more than anything else and I'm sorry I never got to do anything with you.
Jessica: *slapped his hand off and ran off crying* I never want to see you again. Just leave me alone!
James: Jessica!
She's just as stubborn as her mother.

Jessica ran as fast as she could to the gym to pick up her pokemon. When she ran inside Ash and Misty were with a worried Tom. Jessica ran to Tom and hugged him. She cried on his shoulder. He patted her back and rubbed it. Jessica cried without talking for an hour or five. She finally fell asleep on Tom. Tom stroked her striped hair. She was still whining a little. Ash put his hand on his son's shoulder. Tom slowly and gently picked up Jessica and put her in his bed in the house built behind the gym. Tom looked at her tear stained faced as he took off her jacket and placed it on a chair. He traced her chin bone with his hand lightly then left her to sleep there.

It was morning by the time Jessica woke up. She went out of the room and down a hallway that lead to the living room. She saw Tom asleep on the couch so she figured that she was sleeping in Tom's room. She looked at the silver pokeballs on the table. They were her's. She threw out Houndour and petted him for a while as she watched Tom sleep. Jessica was alone most of her life, but now she felt as if she had never felt lonely. Tom stirred. Jessica and Houndour went over to him. He opened his eyelids to reveal his bright brown eyes. Jessica smiled.

Jessica: Hi.
Tom: Good Morning.
Houndour: Hou.
Jessica: He said good morning.
Tom: Good morning to you, Houndour.
Jessica: Thanks.
Tom: No problem. What did you come in crying about?
Jessica: I don't want to talk about.
Tom: OK, I won't force you.
Jessica: Thanks.
Tom: Were you watching me sleep?
Jessica: No, I was playing with Houndour.
Tom: Oh, OK. So when did you get up?
Jessica: An hour ago.
Tom: Oh, cool. How old are you, Jessica?
Jessica: 1-4.
Tom: Me too.
Jessica: Cool, hey Tom?
Tom: What?
Jessica: I never got to see the town.
Tom: Let me get dressed and we'll go together.
Jessica: Where is my jacket?
Tom: In my room. You won't need it and anyway you look good in a T-shirt.
Jessica: OK, but I want to drop my pokemon off at the center for the day though.
Tom: OK.
Jessica: Well, do you have a hair brush? I seemed to have forgotten my backpack at......home. At home, stupid me.
Tom: *leaves* Uhhh...yeah, let me get it.
Houndour: Houndour.
Jessica: *mutters* I know I almost blew it. Don't make fun of me.
Tom: *hands her the hairbrush* Here.
Jessica: Thanks.

After an hour of getting ready Tom and Jessica headed to the Pokemon Center. Outside the center were Jessie and James sitting on the bench. Tom sent out his Jinx and Jessica threw out her Bellsom. Jessie called on Arbok and James called Wheezing to fight. Jessica backed up and into Tom. Both blushed and turned away. Jessie's Arbok bit Bellsom and Wheezing sludged Jinx. Jessica called a Petal Dance attack that blew Team Rocket away. Tom and Jessica hugged each other in excitement, but quickly stopped. Jessica threw her Bellsom in the air and caught it. Tom watched as the Bellsom smiled widely. Jessica hugged Bellsom tight. Tom had a feeling he never had before as he watched Jessica. Did he like this girl? This Jessica?
