Escape

Disclaimer: Enrique Iglesias owns the song Escape and Nintendo, Creatures and Game Freak and such own Pokémon

Author’s Note: Fifth part in my alphabetical songfic series. A sequel to ‘Addicted’ and ‘Damaged’. More psycho Ash. This is probably going to be the last part of that mini series that I have affectionately named ‘ADE’.

You can run, you can hide, but you can't escape my love
You can run, you can hide, but you can't escape my love

I stared back at my reflection in the Pokécenter’s bathroom mirror. How I managed to stay hidden for five years, I did not know. I looked pretty much the same.

My hair was lighter now, thanks to many, many bottles of dye. I still wore my old hat, but I had ditched my old clothes. And the biggest step in changing my identity was evolving Pikachu.

I looked down at Raichu now. It was difficult to call her that- Raichu. Some days I couldn’t believe that I had evolved her. I couldn’t believe that I had to start a new life.

I couldn’t believe what Misty had done to me.

Here's how it goes
You and me, up and down
But baby this time we'll get it right
Worth a fight
'Cause love is something you can't shake
When it breaks
All it takes is some tryin'

She had rejected me. One night of happiness and she had rejected me! I hear her words: "No! Ash! NO!"

She didn’t love me…

But now…

I pulled my hat down on my head smugly and glared back at my reflection. Consumed by anger, I spoke to Raichu without looking at her.

"I’ll find her again. She WILL love me…" I clenched my hands into fists, "I’ll make her love me…"

If you feel like leaving
I'm not gonna beg you to stay
'Cause soon you'll be finding
You can run, you can hide,
But you can't escape my love

I let her go for five years…now I would find her again.

I glanced down at Pika---RAIchu. She looked back up at me with hard, cold eyes that reflected mine. I pulled out her Pokéball and recalled her. Having her walk around with me would be too conspicuous.

In a quiet, unnoticeable way, I crept through the Pokécenter. No one paid attention to me. After five years, the search for me had died, but I still tried to hide myself. I didn’t need to be noticed.

Outside, I breathed in the cold night air and gazed up at the stars. A slow grin crossed my face.

"Look out Misty- I’m coming to get you…"

You can run, you can hide,
But you can't escape my love

I had traveled to Cerulean months back. No one in the gym. It had appeared that the Cerulean City gym had been abandoned three years before. I was a little late.

But I was in luck. I pulled a tabloid magazine. On the cover was a picture of *Misty and another man. Words sprawled across the cover revealed the story of two Pokémon Masters who had found romance in each other.

So. Misty had become a Pokémon Master, huh? And was in love with one, too! I snickered. It sounded like she still thought about me and my dream…

The article told of their house in Littleroot. That was were I was heading…

Slow baby go
You should know (you should know)
It's hard to just forget the past
So fast
It was good, it was bad,
But it was real
And that's all you have
In the end our love matters

At 2 AM in the morning I hopped aboard a train to Littleroot. The conductor told me, "Thirty minute ride…" but I was only half listening.

Thirty minutes and I’d see Misty again. Thirty minutes and I’d have her love again.

Then I laughed.

Give or take a few minutes…

I sobered down and patted Raichu’s head. She ‘rai’ed at me but continued staring into space- silent and cold. Far from the Pikachu I used to know.

But now I was far from the Ash I used to know too…

Oh noo noo yeah

I thought back to the days of being carefree and happy, three years travelling alongside Misty- earning twenty badges with her encouragement.

Brock and Tracey had been there too, but Brock for only two and Tracey for a shorter one. Misty had stuck with me through thick and thin…

I had always felt like she was my best friend, and after a few years, like something more.

All that had stopped the day she decided to leave.

If you feel like leaving
I'm not gonna beg you to stay
'Cause soon you'll be finding
You can run, you can hide,
But you can't escape my love

At 2:30, I got off the train. I looked around Littleroot- I supposed I had been her before, it like oddly familiar.

I racked my brain. Littleroot…Hoenn…I had gone to Hoenn, and to Littleroot, after Misty.

I laughed in my mind. No wonder I didn’t remember it.

Looking around, I sensed I had been here with someone, but I couldn’t remember who…

Again, I laughed. If it wasn’t Misty, what did it matter?

You can run, you can hide,
But you can't escape my love

Within twenty minutes I had found the house described in the magazine.

I looked up at it. It was pretty big- a mansion. I guessed two Pokémon Masters could afford it.

I clenched my fists. They were living my dream, but here I was living in Pokémon Centers off the free food and money I found on the ground.

I shook my head. This guy? What was his name- Brendan? He would pay.

You can run (you can run)
You can hide (you can hide)
But you can't escape my love

The door was locked. Oh, and Littleroot seemed like such a trustworthy town.

Was Misty locking the door from me? You’d think she’d lighten up a bit after five years…

I knocked, but no one answered. Sleeping at this Misty? Care if I joined you?

I slipped a hairpin out of my pocket and jimmied it into the lock. I fiddled around with it for a few minutes, and then CLICK it was open.

You can run (you can run)
You can hide ( you can hide)
But you can't escape my love

"Who’s---who’s there?" Said a female voice, shaking.

Misty’s voice? It had been so long since I’ve heard it.

"Misty?" I whispered into the darkness. I heard Raichu rumbling around looking for a light.

The speaker inhaled sharply. She dropped something.

"Ash?" She squeaked out. I heard her take several steps back.

"Don’t be afraid, Misty," I whispered, taking steps towards her, "You still love me, don’t you?"

Here's how it goes
All it takes is some tryin'

A light flickered on. For a second- it wasn’t Misty who stood in front of me, but a girl who looked oddly familiar, like this whole town did. But then it was instantly replaced with an image of Misty and all was right with the world.

Or, almost right.

(You can run)
If you feel like leavin'
I'm not gonna beg you to stay
'Cause soon you'll be finding (you'll be finding)
You can run, you can hide,
But you can't escape my love

I whipped around- to my right there was staircase. A man standing there and flicked on the light.

"Get out of here Ash!" He growled.

I growled back, "Misty is mine! You will leave her alone!"

He jumped down the stairs and walked rigidly in front of her. "Leave."

"No!" I cried out, "I want Misty back!"

"Its…May, Ash…" She whispered, "May…"

If you feel like leavin'
I'm not gonna beg you to stay
'Cause soon you'll be finding
You can run, you can hide,
But you can't escape my love

This man, presumably Brendan, picked up what she had dropped- a candelabra? Was she going to attack me?

Well, at any rate, he was now. He held it menacingly like a weapon and then spoke again,

"Leave us alone Ash! I’ve already called the cops."

Indeed, I heard sirens in the background.

I growled again.

"Raichu! Thunderbolt!"

"Rairai!" She replied, Thunderbolting Brendan, using the metal candelabra as a lightening rod.

He fell to the ground and Misty fell onto top of him. Had Raichu shocked her too?

No…no…she was crying.

"Brendan get up! Save me Brendan…"

You can run
You can run
You can run
You can run
You can run
You can run
You can run
You can run
You can run
You can run

I advanced on her, growling slightly.

"Why cry over him, Misty? You are mine!"

Misty suddenly sat up, rigid, looking at me with anger she had never given me before.

"Ash," She said, coldly, "I am NOT Misty! Leave me alone! My name is MAY! MAY!"

With those words she picked up the candelabra and swung it against my head.

I didn’t have time to duck and fell to the ground.

My head throbbed and for several seconds I think I was unconscious.

I lifted my head up, but it was still a bit foggy. I could hear people walking around. Some lifted me to my feet, mumbling words I didn’t care about. Others were checking out Brendan, while others were holding the girl back from me.

But for some reason, I couldn’t put the name Misty on this girl.

I muttered the only name I could,

"May…"

(You can run, you can hide
But you can't escape my love)
(Love, love, love, love)
You can run, you can hide,
But you can't escape my love

*Whenever Ash heard the name ‘May’ it translated to ‘Misty’. If he saw a picture of May he thought it was Misty. The REAL Misty was Misty to him too. So May and Misty were both Misty to Ash.

Author’s Note: This was a REALLY long song. O_O It really annoys me to call Pikachu a she but I ended up calling Raichu a she so I guess it worked. O.o I need a J! I cannot find a song that begins with J! A one word song that is not ‘Julia’ or ‘Julie’. >.< Help?

Next Songfic: Fallin’ Misty ponders over her relationship with Ash. Set in the Johto region.
