In the last episode Poliwag evolved and learned a new attack, Timmy ate his dinner, walked to the dojo, watched a guy spar with a strange man named Mere’din, and was then called to spar with Mere’din… “Step to attention, bow here, bow to each other, and stand in your fighting stance.” The sensei ordered Timmy and Mere’din. Timmy did so, but Mere’din just stood there. “Hajime!” And with that last command, the match began. The two opponents watched each other for a moment, each one devoid of expression, waiting for the other to make a move. Finally, Timmy ran forward and did a spinning back kick and then a backfist. Mere’din just took a few steps back and blocked the hit. He then stood in a crane stance, with his right leg at knee height, his hands were open and out in front and to the side of him. Seeing the vast opening, Timmy decided to try a front snap kick. He lashed out as fast as he could, but to no avail. Mere’dins hands grabbed the kick, inches before it hit his exposed belly. Try as he might, Timmy couldn’t even move his foot in the slightest. Mere’din suddenly stepped to the side while throwing Timmy’s foot to the left and held his leg straight out. Timmy came crashing into the leg. “Oof.” He fell to the ground on impact. Mere’din then walked over and looked at him to see if he was ok. Timmy launched himself from the ground and punched at Mere’dins face. Mere’din caught Timmy’s hand before it had a chance to make contact. Timmy then tried to punch him with his other hand. Mere’din just caught that hand too. Mere’din then yanked Timmy up and back, sending him stumbling. As Timmy stumbled behind him, Mere’din kicked him in the back, causing him to fall. Timmy slowly got up, only to get knocked back down by a swift open hand strike to his shoulders. “Yame.” The sensei told them. The two got back to where they had begun. “Mere’din is the winner with three points. Now, step to attention, bow here, bow to each other, shake hands, and get back in line.” The sensei ordered. The two did as they were told and then got back in line. After a few more students had sparred, the sensei had everyone get back into the line they were in at the start of the class. “Class is dismissed.” He informed them. The students all bowed to him and walked off the mat. Timmy walked over to Mere’din. “Excuse me sir, but where were you trained?” Mere’din’s face is still devoid of expression. “I studied Tae Kwon Doe for three years at the Renshi Dojang in South Korea. Then I went and studied Sanchin Ryu and Sho Rin Ryu Karate on the Okinawan Islands in Japan for four years each. I also studied Shaolin and Tai Chi for fifteen years in China.” Timmy’s eyes widened. “Woah. That’s a lot.” Mere’din nods. “Yes, but I must leave now, I have a tournament on Honshu that I must get to. It was a pleasure to meet you…” “Timmy Cogail.” Timmy says. “Yes. Well Timmy, I must go now. Remember to always try and keep your guard up in fights. Goodbye.” Mere’din turns around and smoothly walks out of the Dojo. Timmy sighs and walks back onto the carpet and begins practicing with his shinai.
