Koriandra: Emerald Sonata Chapter 1: Talkative Mother A teenager huffed rather angrily at the sky. She was sitting at the side of her house, hugging her knees and constantly glaring at the people passing-by. None of this was their fault, but it felt good to glare at them, she was relieving a lot of stress that way. She never wanted to come here in the first place. Parting with her friends was bad enough, but moving to some town located in the middle of nowhere was even worse. Her hard, green gaze fell upon the sign that read: Welcome to the happy little town of Littleroot! She hissed at it, it was a stupid sign. Decorated with cute little swirls and flowers. It made her want to torch it, the whole town, and it's inhabitants. She drew her knees closer and buried her head into her arms, "I don't /want/ to visit the neighbors." Koriandra sighed into her knees, "But I have nothing better to do, so I might as well." Very, very reluctantly, she lifted herself from the grass and sulked her way to the door of the Birch household and began to jab her finger at the doorbell. Once it had opened, a cheery woman was in the doorway, flashing a large smile and waving a feather duster. "Hello, you must be our new neighbors," the woman gave another bright smile, and it made Koriandra think that if she gave another of those bright smiles, it could make her go blind. "I guess I must be," Koriandra muttered darkly, although Mrs. Birch paid no notice. "Well, come in, child! Oh, Landon will be /so/ happy to see the neighbor's daughter. You /are/ the daughter of Norman, right?" Koriandra nodded slowly, "Yeah, I'm Koriandra." "Well, he's going to be /extra/ happy! Oh, the boy's already hyper enough...!" Mrs. Birch continued on with the ramblings of her son and Koriandra continued to nod slowly and zombie-like. It was if at any moment, her head would just fall off her shoulders and plop in front of Mrs. Birch (who wouldn't notice a thing). "Well, talk is cheap," Mrs. Birch said, pausing as she went to dust a shelf, "Why don't you meet him for yourself?" Koriandra, at that moment, stopped nodding and just stared.
