CABIN 109
PART
3 BY GOLDENHEART

The next twenty minutes seemed to fly past.
Ash, Misty, and Brock continued to watch the hail and snow pelt the windows, making an annoying ticking sound.
Ash's mind raced.
We can't turn back now! Ash thought. We've came to far to go back! Ash didn't think it would be exactly fun to trudge through the knee high snow, with all that hail and snow whipping in your face. But it was worth it. . .Right?

Ash was drifting off again, and he was lurched awake as the train come to a stedy hault. He drearilly glanced upward, stretching his lower back, and rubbed his eyes. He sighed and said: "Yes! Were finally here!" Ash stood up, and glanced ot the window again, praying that the snow had stopped.
Ash was dead wong.
If anything, the snow-storm had worsened since he last looked.
Damn, he whispered to himself. Both Misty and Brock looked frighened, as they once again picked up their bags, and began to walk down the ile.Ash scraped nearly every seat as he reached the front of the train. "Good luck." The train conducter said. But he didn't seem to have that boyish grin on his face anymore. He had a thank-god-I'm-not-in-your-shoes look. He waved a final time , and the trio stepped off the train, and into the cold, harsh winds.
Ash relized now, that the weather had turned from nippy, to downright frigid. It felt at least like fifteen below. "Well, what do you expect?, we're in the mountains!" said brock dejectedly. The heavy train doors slammed shut behind them, and slowly picked up speed, zooming back down the tracks. They were left. . .completely alone.

"So Brock, were is this resort, anyway?"
Misty nearly has to scream to be heard above the howling winds. She had he head to the side, sheilding her face from the hail.
Brock thought a moment.
"Not far, thank god!" Brock said, pointing his finger ahead of them. "Only about another quarte-mile!" Ash sighed deeply.
Misty had dug into her bag, and was now wearing a bright pink cotton sweat-shirt. She also wore blue jeans, which were slightly frayed at the bottom. Brock wore similar clothes, except his sweat-shirt was blue, and he also had a tossel cap on, his brown locks of hair sticking out of the bottom. Ash had since donned his own leather jacket, and had a thin sweatshirt and sweat-pants. She shivered with every step he took, and mentally kicked himself for now bringing gloves. He clenched his fists. The intense cold had numbed his fingers. as Ash attemed to warm them up, he finally saw it.
A sign, nearly hidden behind the terrible gusts of snow, rose high in the air, supported by two metal poles. A smile crept across his face.
"THERE IT IS!" screamed brock, excidedly pointng his finger at the sign. They were almost there. "C'mon, guys!" said Brock, begining to run. Ash mustered up all of his strength, and began to run alongside Brock, with Misy following tightly behind them. As they drew closer, Ash saw a large, chain-link fence, stretching as far as the eye could see. Behind the fence, Ash saw several buildings, and the biggest, which had small puffs of smoke leaking from the chimmney, had to be the ski-lodge. Just - a - bit - farther, Ash thought, gasping roughly for his breath. Ash picked up pace, as they entered the fence, and toward the log ski-resort. To there utter gratitude, the doors were unlocked. Ash, being the first one there, swung open the door, feeling the great rush of warm air. Ash clambered oto the wooden floor, and stopped, clutching his chest, gasping for breath. Brock and Misty ran in next, equally out of breath. Ash felt a painful stab each time he drew his breath. As their breathing slowly returned to normal, Ash and the others took a look around.
It was a fairly big lodge, way larger than it looked from outside. The walls consisted of beautiful log, and the hard maple floor shined briliantly in the dim lighting of the room. Their was a nice-sized fire started, and Ash watched it's flames wither and sway from left to right.
"Well, it's about time!" said a deep voice from behind them. They whipped around, startled, to find a tall, lanky figure in the doorway. He wore baggy jeans, and a sky-blue t-shirt. The man was so thin, that even the very small shirt he was wearing seemed to hang off of him. His face was gaunt, and his pale skin was stretched tightly over his high cheekbones. Childishness still lingered in his features, and his unshaven face was pulled into a broad smile. "Uncle Ron?" Brock asked, pulling off his cap. "Wow, it's been awhile. . ." Brock's sentence slowly trailed off.
"Yes it has," Ron replied feebly. "Nine years now." He held out a bony hand to Brock. Brock moved forward, shaking his hand. "I haven't seen you since you were seven." Ron laughed hertily. "Youv'e grown so much."
Both Ash and Misty watched as Ron and Brock both began to chat, as if trying to make up for nine years of seperation. "Anyway Brock, who are your friends here?"
Ash stepped up, and took Ron's hand. "My name's Ash Ketchum," He said merrilly.
"And this is Misty." He pointed towards the red-head, who shyly waved her hand. "And thanks a lot for letting us stay here . . .Brock's uncle." Ron laughed again.

"Please, Ash. You make me sound old! call me Ron."
"Ok. Thank's for letting us stay for free Ron, we really appriciate it."
"Don't worry about it Ash. Consider this a favor for you all. Any friends of Brock's are friends of mine."
He broadly smiled again.
"Who wants some hot chocolate?"

Ash sipped the steaming-hot chocolate. The warmth felt so good in his throat, compared to outside in that blizzard. He joyfully noticed that Misty was talking and laughing, listening Ron's stories. Brock sat on his chair, blushing pink as his name come up. They all sat at a large, rounded table in the main room of the resort. A large screen tv sat in the left corner.
Ash glanced out the window, and not surprisinglly, the blizzard was still blowing strong. By the time they finsihed chatting, it was already nearly 8:00 PM. "So, guys, since you probably don't feel like finding your cabin in this blizzard," Ron said, motioning towards the window, "How bout you all stay here for tonight. Tomarrow, you can find your cabin."
They all agreed.
As they finished off their chocolate, Ron led them into the back of the lodge, and into another room. He swung open the door, and Ash nearly gasped as he saw what the room consisted of. A large tv stood near the left hand wall, and in the very center of the room, was a huge couch. This wasn't just any couch, no, this one was deep, VERY wide, and stretched nearly the whole length of the room, arcing in a huge semi-circle. Besides the couch, their was also another "Wow." was all Ash could mutter.
"There's a bathroom on the right there, a tv, and you all can crash out on the couch. I belive you'll find it quite comfortable." The trio entered the room, and looked aound. Many paintings of famous people and landscapes were hung on the walls, and the large windows made this room very spacient. They all loved it.
"This is amazing!" exclaimed Ash, leaving his bags and leaping onto the bright red upholstery. He was very surprised to find each cusion fluffy, deep, and extremely comfortable. He would never have problems sleeping here. He sprawled out and stretched. "mmmm . . . Wow, I could live on this thing!" Brock, backpack still slung over his shoulder, leaned down to run his hands over the silky smooth material. "Ron, you've really out done yourself." The scrawny man shook his head. "No problem," he replied. "Don't mention it."
While Ash and Brock began to fight over the sleeping arrangement, Misty took her time studying and examining the overly-large television. "Man," Ash sighed. "This is going to be the best vacation ever. . ."
