Disclaimer: If i owned Pokemon, i'd have left school by now. I'm still at school. Work it out. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Having entered through the giant doors, Ash stood in the darkness. They were in a room of some sort, but how big it was, was anyone’s guess. There was a huge roaring noise that sounded like water. Ash was about to turn on his torch, when suddenly, there was light! They were in a huge chamber. The roof seemed to be impossibly high, and there was a huge opening at its centre, through which a bright moon shone, previously having been obscured by clouds. The giant, yellowed blocks used to make the walls were eroded badly in places, and vines and creepers were growing everywhere. The most impressive thing about the room was the giant waterfall, which seemed to start up at the top of the far wall. Water roared out, and down, crashing into the huge pond at the bottom, which stretched out almost halfway through the room. There was a cooling mist from the spray, which spread out through the room. The pool itself was a beautiful deep blue in the pale silvery moonlight, and surrounded by rocks, in a seeming attempt to make it look as natural as possible. The group gazed on in wonder. "It's...it's beautiful..." said Misty. "Yeah, pretty impressive!" murmered Brock, looking up at the immense height of the waterfall. "Whoever built this sure knew what they were doing!" "I wonder how that pool drains" mused Gary. Ash walked forward, and saw that the pool drained off in two directions, to the left and right, in two fast flowing channels, both of which then curved back towards the far wall. "Why don't we follow the water?" he suggested. "Look!" cried out May, "There's an opening there where the water leaves the room! It's small, but I'm sure we can squeeze through" They ran over, still keeping an eye out for Team Rocket. May had been right, there was indeed an opening through which the water flowed, into some kind of dark tunnel. However, it was far too small for most people to fit through. "There MUST be some other way out of this room!" wailed Ash. However, looking around revealed no other exits, other than the main door through which they had come. May sighed. 'I haven't done anything useful yet!' she thought. 'I'll prove that I'm not useless!' She said, "I bet I could fit through that opening. If I go through, I can look for some other way to get out of this room. Maybe there's some kind of hidden door!" "What!" cried Brock, "That's ridiculous! There's no way I'm gonna let you go off through there on your own! Who knows what's through thee!" "I think I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself!" "That's what you think, but-" started Misty, but May cut her off. "All I'm going to do is look through to see if there's anything. I'll be fine" With that, May walked over to the opening. "I'll take my pokemon with me, they'll be able to take care of me! I'll be fine, it's just like a slow water slide. If I can't find anything, I'll just climb back through" Ignoring the others' attempts to dissuade her, May lay down in the flowing water facing the opening, and went forward with the current, holding the smooth sides of the tunnel to keep a slower pace. She was snatched by the fast flowing water, and practically thrown through the narrow gap. She winced as she grazed her leg on her way through the opening. Suddenly it was so dark, and she felt a stab of fear. 'What if this lead's to an opening off the edge of a cliff?' She tried unsuccessfully to push such irrational thoughts from her mind. She let go of the sides of the tunnel, which was so smooth that it was almost pleasant to just let the current take her. Suddenly, the tunnel dipped down, and she gained pace rapidly. She let off a squeal of fright, and then she couldn't scream any more as the pace winded her. This was just as well, as now the tunnel was more filled with water, which splashed everywhere, all over her face. The thought which kept on going through her mind as she raced forward was, 'I'm going to die! I'm going to die! Eeeeek!' Suddenly, she saw a tiny pinprick of light up ahead. It grew larger with alarming speed as she charged forward towards it. Then, suddenly, she was out of the tunnel, and for a split second she caught sight of a dimly lit wall, before she crashed into water again, and lost consciousness. * * * * * Ash was getting worried. He could have sworn that he'd heard a scream from the tunnel. The others were also getting very anxious. Suddenly, from behind them, there was a grinding noise audible over the ever present roar of the waterfall. They turned around to see none other than Jessie, James and Meowth. They had come through a door which had suddenly appeared from what seemed to be solid wall! 'So May was right about a hidden door!' he thought. Team Rocket looked a bit worn and battered. James was sporting a huge bump on his head. "The twerps!" he cried, wincing at his own load noise. "What are you doing here!" Ash growled angrily, "You know why I'm here! Now give it back!" James looked embarrassed. "We don't have it any more..." "You idiot!" yelled Jessie, "Shut up!” She turned to face Ash. "Prepare for troubl-" Ash cut in quickly. "Look, if you don't have it any more, then who does?" Jessie looked as if she was about to yell at him, but then she sighed, and said. "We were exploring through that door with the boss, when we got jumped by someone! We don't remember anything. In fact, we only just came round, and the Boss and the artefact were gone. Now, prepare for-" "Well, where does that tunnel lead?" "Why should we help you, twerp?" "Maybe for once we could...work together..." Jessie scowled. Before she could reply, James butted in, "Go on Jess, I don't want to be stuck here anymore! This place is creepy! Let's just help the twerp, and find the Boss!" "That's quite a good idea! I'm shocked you managed to come up with it!" said Meowth. They turned to face Ash and his friends once more. "Deal, twerp!" said Jessie. "We'll be on the same side...for now" "OK" said Ash, "Do you guys know where to go from here?" "Well, we're pretty sure there's another secret door in that wall behind the waterfall somewhere, but we're not sure. Only the Boss knew his way around," said James. Misty walked up to Ash. "I hate to break up your meeting, but May still hasn't returned!" Suddenly he remembered about May! Talking to Team Rocket had temporarily taken his mind off the problem, but he suddenly felt sick with worry. "She's been gone far too long!" said Brock, and the concern was apparent in his voice. * * * * * * May woke up to find that she was on land! The cool yellow stones under her were reassuringly solid. She picked herself up, to find that she was on the edge of a large artificial river. The water raced away in one direction, further than the eye could see in the dimming torchlight. Looking up behind her, she saw the holes, one of which she had just come through, up in the wall. The water poured out of them and flew in an arc towards the river, which was already fast flowing. The river flowed from under the wall, in a deep channel. May assumed that it must have led from a natural river. She turned to face the wall on the opposite side of the river. There were torches on that wall, but no way across the river was visible. Finally, she turned to face the wall, which was between her and the first large chamber. She stared at it, and then grinned... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, it's time to make a stand! Review, or else I won't continue!
