Hey, I’m back! It’s been a while since I’ve written anything, but I’ve been busy…erm…enough of the excuses, here’s part 6! Disclaimer: I don’t own pokemon, Nintendo, or the world. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3: Into the darkness Even as Ash was worrying about where May could be, a section of wall suddenly moved, and there she was, grinning. The others all looked in shock. “How did you…” began Misty, but May was ahead of her. “I came out in another chamber, and there was a lever. I pulled it, and this door opened!” She grinned even more; she felt that for once, she’d been useful. As the others took in what May was telling them about the second chamber, and the fact that it was just a dead end, Gary went over to the door that Team Rocket had come in through. “Hey, you guys, what’s through this door?” he asked. “Uh…well, we didn’t go that far, the Boss left us just inside it to guard it. Then, like we already told you, we suddenly blacked out, and when we woke up, we…uh… decided to get out. It’s not like we got scared, or anything!” To the others’ amazement, Jesse seemed to actually be embarrassed. “Well, whatever, I guess we’d better get going in there!” Gary started to walk into the tunnels, and the rest followed him, even Jesse, James and Meowth, although they seemed to be somewhat reluctant to enter into the dark labyrinth of corridors. The group slowly proceeded through the long passageway, which was lit only by very spaced out torches, which fluttered weakly in the darkness. They ignored the occasional passages that led off to the sides, as James seemed very certain that ‘The Boss’ had walked off in a straight line. As the continued, they heard a faint rushing noise, that sounded like a distant river or stream. James seemed very nervous now, and kept on jumping in fright at every little noise. There was no conversation as the group went on, down the seemingly endless corridor; it was as if they were all lulled by the eerie rushing noise, which seemed to be getting louder. Then, suddenly, up ahead was some light, as the corridor finally ended! “Hey, guys, look!” said Ash, “There’s some kinda room up ahead!” “Duh!” said Misty, but not with any real irritation, and more out of habit. Then, all of a sudden, they could hear noises of battle! A Pokemon battle! Even over the now quite loud rush of water, there was clearly audible the crashes of a fight. Gary and Ash sprinted ahead of the others, and on entering the room, there was a sight that drew their eyes, away even from the vastness and beauty of the room they were in. Butch and Cassidy, with their Drowzee and Raticate, were battling hard with a huge Nidoking. The Nidokings trainer was nowhere to be seen. Just behind the battling pokemon was an incredibly fast river, the torrents of water crashing through and causing a tremendous amount of noise. Even as the rest of the group entered the room, an immensely powerful rock throw attack completely covered not only Drowzee and Raticate, but also their trainers! “Return!” A soft, yet clear and powerful male voice came out from across the river. A shadowy figure was just about visible, but even as the large Nidoking disappeared back into it’s pokeball, the man also vanished into the darkness. Ash and the others looked on in disbelief, and shock, to see two powerful trainers as Butch and Cassidy so utterly defeated! “Guys, we’d better help them out! They could be badly hurt under all those rocks!” Ash’s face actually radiated concern for his two old enemies and their pokemon. No-one deserved to be so brutally swept aside! As they cleared the rocks away, it became apparent that Butch and Cassidy were indeed alive, and to a certain extent, ok, as were their pokemon. Butch managed to gasp out, his breath wheezing badly, “You..guys….had better… get outta here…while…you can!” He winced. “That guy is…uuuuh!” With that, he passed out. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- There ya go! sorry its a bit short, but maybe its better to have a short chapter every now and then...
