Ash and his friends were comming closer to the next town, where Ash hoped to earn his second Jhoto league badge. They decided to stop at the nearest pokemon centre for a rest. "Whew, I need a good rest, I'm exausted" sighed Misty, collapsing onto a couch. "Yeah, walking can sure take alot out of ya" grumbled Ash, slouching next to her. While they were resting they overheard Nurse Joy talking to a man, who appeared to be a scientist. "No you certianly can not!" she cried. "Huh? What's going on?" Asked Brock, waking from a light snooze with a start. "But Nurse Joy, I need an experimental pokemon to try out my new invention" The man protested. "I don't care, using pokemon for lab experiments is cruel, and I won't allow you to take one of these pokemon to do it!" Snapped Nurse Joy. "Experiment pokemon?" Ash muttered concerningly. "That's discusting!" snapped Misty. "Mr. Ivy, I won't allow it, the answer's no, and that's final!" Nurse Joy scaulded. "Waaah!" cried Brock suddenly. "What's the matter now?" asked Misty. "She said Mr.Ivy, that reminded me of professor Ivy" Brock sobbed. "Oh" sighed Misty, feeling bad for bringing up the subject. Shortly after the man left, Ash and Misty went over to Nurse Joy to ask about the strange man, leaving Brock in his gloomy state curled up on the floor. "Who was that Nurse joy?" Ash asked. "What did he want with the pokemon?" asked Misty. "That was Mr.Ivy. He's a scientist who has just invented a new machine that could turn a pokemon into a human. He didn't have one to use, so he asked if I could give him one." Joy explained. "A pokemon into a human?" cried Ash. "Impossible!" "That's what everyone thinks, but he wants to prove it" replied Nurse Joy. The gang went outside (after a while of trying to convince Brock to move,) and found Mr.Ivy sitting alone on a bench with his head in his hands. "Hold it, I want to give this guy a peice of my mind" said Misty firmly, walking over to Mr.Ivy. "Excuse me, but what makes you think that experiments on pokemon are right?" "I don't want to preform an experiment, not that it's any of your buisness. I just want to try out my new invention." Replied Mr.Ivy. "Let's see this new invention" Ash said, appearing next to Misty. "What! Ash, you can't!" cried Misty. "Don't worry Misty. I've borrowed this camera from Nurse Joy so that we can take pictures of this thing. Then we can develope them and take them to Officer Jenny." Ash whispered. "Ahh, okay" Misty muttered. She turned to Mr. Ivy. "Let's see this invention then". Mr.Ivy's eye's lit up, and they were soon on their way to his lab. "Here it is" Mr.Ivy announced proudly. They were standing in a secure roon cluttered with strange contraptions and blueprints, with papers carpeting the floor. In the centre of the room stood a large round machine decorated with ariels, buttons and switches. Ash gasped with awe. Suddenly, one of his pokeballs quivered, and out came Chikorita. "Oh, wonderful, a specimin!" smiled Mr.Ivy, attempting to take the little green pokemon. "Hey, no, wait! Won't it hurt chikorita, will it?" Ash asked. Chickorita grabbed onto Ash's leg. "Chicko!" it squeaked. "Pikaaaaaaaa" said Pikachu, getting ready to electricute Mr. Ivy. "Woah, woah, woah, take it easy" he cried, releasing Chikorita. "It won't take long, and if it works it will turn Chikorita into a human. If it doesn't, nothing will happen." Chikorita looked thoughtful, looked at Ash, and smiled. "Chiko, Chikori!" it grinned, jumping up and down. "You - you want to try it?" Ash asked. "Chik!" Chikorita nodded. "Well, I don't know" mumbled Ash. "Oh, she'll be fine" smiled Mr.Ivy, picking up Chikorita and placing her into the machine. "Oh, Chikorita, since you'll become a human, you'll need some cloths." said Mr.Ivy, putting some black leggins and a green haltineck in with her. He started the machine, while Ash and the others waited nerviousley. It only took about ten seconds. When the machine door finally opened, everyone crowded round and held their breath. Once the smoke had cleared, they saw a pritty girl with long green hair, wearing the cloths Mr. Ivy had put in for her. She groaned and held her head. "Chik-Chikorita?" Ask asked nerviousley. A big grin streached from ear to ear on Mr. Ivy's face. "I - I did it, I did it! Huraaaay! It worked, It worked! Oh I am a genius! How do you feel?" he asked excitedly. "uh, my head hurts and I feel kinda dizzy" replied Chikorita. "Don't worry, that should wear off. Here, let me help you stand up" replied Mr.Ivy, unable to conceal his excitement. Chikorita shakely got to her feet. She laughed in delight. "Look at me, I'm standing on two legs". "Now, we can't call you Chikorita for a while, how about - err - Chrissy", Mr. Ivy smiled. The other three who stood behind them looked utterly gobsmacked. "H - how long will she stay like this?" asked Misty. "About fourty eight hours" replied Mr.Ivy. "Two whole days!" cried Brock. "Yep!" Mr.Ivy grinned. "Oh, Ash look. I'm human for two days! No more battles or being cramped up in a pokeball. We can have fun!" Chrissy shakely walked over to Ash and lost her footing, falling into his arms. "Woah, take it easy" said Ash nerviousley. "This is gonna be great!" smiled Chrissy, hugging him. "Huh. Ash's perfect match. Stubborn, pritty and now that she's human..." began Brock. "Number one, no matter what form she takes she'll always be a pokemon at heart, number two she's only human for two days, and number three, she's a pokemon!" Misty snapped. "Uh, you've said that twice" mumbled Brock. Misty pulled one of her dangerous expressions, making Brock flinch, and looked the other way. "Guys, look, Chikorita's human!" smiled Ash. "Oh Ash, you don't know how happy this has made me. Come on, let's get going. I've only got fourty-eight hours" smiled Chrissy. "Effectinet little thing, isn't she" smiled Brock, watching her start to walk with one arm around Ash's neck and the other held out for balancing. "Steady" Ash warned her, as she toook her first few steps towards the door on very wobbily legs. "I've always wondered what it was like to walk on two legs" she chuckled. "As you now know, it's not as easy as it looks" smiled Ash. Chrissy's legs strengthened quite quickly. "Let's go!" she grinned, taking off out of the door holding Ash's hand. "Uhh, Chiko - I mean Chrissy, shouldn't we wait for the others?" stmmered Ash, as he was dragged out of the door. Mr Ivy turned to the others, "Make sure she's back within two days, we don't want her changing in the street. Oh, and make sure that she wants to change back, or she'll stay human for the rest of her life." "What! You didn't tell us that earlier!" cried Misty. "You wouldn't have agreed to go through with it if I had" smirked Mr.Ivy. "Come on!" came Chrissy's voice from outside. Misty and Brock shared a worried glance, as they ran to catch up with the other two. "Oh great, we're all here. Now lets go have some fun!" smiled Chrissy. "Uh, Ash, wait a minute, we've gotta tell you something" mumbled Misty. "What is it Misty?" asked Ash. "Well, it's about Chik - err, I mean Chrissy. Within the last few hours of her time as a human she has to go back to the lab. If she doesn't want to she'll remain human for the rest of her life." "So, you're saying that Chikorita might not want to turn back into a pokemon?" Ash asked nervousley. "That's right" Misty nodded, her eyes clouded with worry. "Don't worry, she'll change back" Ash said, but he didn't sound too confident in his words. Within the next few hours, Chrissy seemed to settle nicley into her life as a human. Nothing could be more perfect. Even Team Rocket didn't interfere. "She reminds me of something..." began Jessie, nibbling on a biscuit on a nearby park bench - descised as a japanese school girl. "But what?" James mumbled, in a similar costume to jessie's. "Beats me.." said meowth, eyeing up James with a confused, slightly disturbed look. They turned their attention onto a nearby trainer with a chansey and decided to do some Rocket buisness. (Which probably turned out to be quite funny, but that would be another story.) Ash and his friends stopped at the park for a rest, and sat on the same bench Team Rocket had been sitting on moments before leaving to follow the chansey. They were quite exhausted from chasing Chrissy all over town, and Misty was quite annoyed after explaining how humans used a toilet facility when they needed to go, which Chrissy found most amusing and hadn't stopped laughing about it for a whole fifteen minutes. When the toilet subject had finally became boring to Chrissy, everyone was finally able to sit in peace for a while. The sun was beginning to set, blanketing the town in a beautiful pinky red sky. "Wow, it's so beautiful here" sighed Misty. "It sure is" smiled Ash. "Kinda reminds me of someone I know with long red hair". Misty blushed almost as red as the evening sky. "Really?" She asked. "Yeah" replied Ash. "Who?" Misty asked, looking at him hopefully. Ash looked at her as if to say 'I thought you'd know'. "My mom" he smiled. "waak!" cried Misty, falling onto the floor. "Err, I-I'm not saying that you're not pritty" he said quickly, just incase she smacked him one. "Do you think I'm pritty?" came Chrissy's voice. "Waa! where did you come from?" Ash asked. Chrissy laughed. "You're cute" she smiled. She kissed him on the cheek. Ash blushed violently, looking quite shocked. "I've waited a long time to do that" she smiled, as if her purpose in life had been acomplished. Misty wasn't smiling though. Her face was sour and angry. "Errm, err, um, err" Ash stummered. "Hey! You're a pokemon, okay? you've only got a few hours left as a human, so don't get too attatched, okay?" snapped Misty, storming off. She stomped passed a tree where Brock was snoozing next to a very exhausted Pikachu. "What? What's going on?" he asked, waking up with a start. "Chrissy, or should I say Chikorita, is getting all goo - goo eyed with Ash." snorted Misty. Pikachu woke with the shock of Misty's loud angry voice. "Pi, pika?" he mumbled, looking around. "It's okay Pikachu, go back to sleep" mumbled Brock. "chaa" Pikachu siged werily, settling back down to sleep. Brock turned hid attention back to his sulking friend. " It sounds like you have feelings for Ash and are getting jelouse" he chuckled. "No! It's just that she's a pokemon, not a human. She shouldn't get too close." replied Misty sharply. "Well, don't look behind you, coz she's getting close" Brock smiled. Misty looked behind her. Chrissy was sitting next to Ash with her head on his shoulder. "Uh, Chrissy, you're starting to scare me" Ash mumbled, pulling away slightly. "Don't be silly" Chrissy said sweetly, pulling him closer. Misty growled verociousley and stomped over. "Stop it Chikorita!" she spat. Chrissy looked up angrily. Don't call me that, I'm not Chikorita anymore!" she spat back. "You're forty-eight hours are nearly up, it's time for you to go back to the lab!" "No! I won't go back! I don't want to!" cried Chrissy. "Ash, tell her!" Misty sighed. She knew this was going to happen. Ash turned to face Chrissy. His face was full of sympathy. "No. Misty's right. You've got to go back. That was the deal." "B-but I don't want to go back. I'm much more happier as a human then I ever have been as a pokemon" Chrissy said tearfully. "They're both right, Chrissy. Despite how you're feeling at the moment, deep down you know they're right. You have to go back" Brock sighed. "What? Go back to being an unimportaint pokemon, who hardly gets any attention, and isn't able to express her feeling because people don't take her seriously?" Chrissy whimpered, looking towards Ash. A single tear trickled down her cheek. This made him feel terrible, and he lowered his head, hiding his face under his cap. "I'm sorry if I've been treating you that way. But, if you change back I'll..." Chrissy cut him off. "I'll go if you come with me. Change with me Ash." she said tearfully. "What!!!!!!" Brock and Misty cried. Ash raised his head, with an expression of compleat shock across his face. "I-I can't become a pokemon! How can I ever become the world's greatest pokemon master if I'm acctually a - " "Ash, just say you'll go with her" Brock whispered. "Once she's there we can sort this out". Ash looked doubtfull. "Well... okay" he mumbled, lowering his head again. He turned to Chrissy, with his face still hidden under his cap. "Chikorita, I will go with you" he mumbled. "What! Ash, you can't!" Misty cried. She was about to protest even further, when she caught a glimpse of Brock shaking his head. She took the hint and became silent. "This will be great! Come on. You've showed me your world, now let me show you mine. Oh, I'm so happy!" Chrissy cheered, grabbing hold of Ash's wrist and running back to Mr. Ivy's lab. On the way, they passed a small ice-cream shop. Team Rocket came out, each with a double scooped cone, slurping away qiute happily. "Where on earth did you get the money James?" Jessie asked, with a quizzical look. "Now that's another story" replied James, tapping his nose and unknowingly splodging it with a slither of chocolate sauce. As they tucked into their treats, Meowth noticed the twerps run by, leading them was stange girl he'd seen earlier. He turned it's attention to Pikachu, who ran passed mumbling to itself. "Huh, I wonder what Pikachu ment by that?" Meowth said allowed. "Pikachu, where?" Jessie said frantically, looking around. She caught ba glimpse of the twerps running round the corner. "Pikachu just said 'great, I'm gonna have a pokemon for a trainer' " Meowth translated. "It's not too happy about it". "The twerp's going to change into a pokemon? That's obsered. Meowth, you must have been heard wrong." Jessie scolded. "I think that ice-cream has frozen your head" smirked James. They walked off, leaving Meowth hesitant for a few seconds, but he changed his mind and followed the other two, who were heading toward a donut stand. Meanwhile, Ash & co had entered Mr.Ivy's lab. "Well now. I was starting to wonder if you were ever going to show up." he smiled. "Okay, what do we do?" asked Ash. "Just get Chikorita to stand in here" said Mr.Ivy, jesturing towards the machine. "Go on then" Ash said to her. "Aren't you comming with me?" she asked, quite fearfully. "Err - I-I'll go in after you. I can only work one at a time" he said quickly. Mr.Ivy was about to disagree, but Brock nudged him and gave an angry look. "Mmm, okay" she said, looking doubtful. Still, she was looking forward to what was about to happen. Ash was going to love it once he had gotten used to being a pokemon. She gave one last look at him, then entered the machine. The large door closed with a hiss. Ash quickly turned to Mr.Ivy. "Uh, can you erase her memory?" he asked. "Sure. That's the whole point. You don't expect me to leave a pokemon thinking it was a human now, do you?" replied Mr.Ivy. He started up the machine and put it into reverse. A guilty feeling whelmed up inside Ash, making him feel quite ashamed about lieing to Chrissy, seeing as she had so much trust in him. Pikachu hopped onto his sholders to provide him with a little comfort. "Thank goodness she's going to be a pokemon again. Now she can't bug me." Misty said, folding her arms crossly. "You mean she can't get between you and Ash" Brock teased. "Shut up!" she snapped, punching Brock in the face. Suddenly, the machine slowly opened, revealing a large cloud of smoke, which seep back into the room. A little lump toddled out of the machine covered with a green haltineck. Ash lifted it off, revealing Chikorita in it's true from. The pokemon looked a little dazed for a second, but when it's little eyes began to focus and saw Ash, it leaped up and hugged him. "Pika pika" smiled Pikachu. "Chiko!" the little pokemon chirped. "Um, so she doesn't remember anything?" Ash asked hopefully. "Nope. She shouldn't. Oh, and take these all you can eat food coupons as a thankyou." Mr.Ivy smiled. "Wow, thanks!" Ash smiled, gladly taking them and stuffing them into his vest pocket. He returned Chikorita into it's pokeball and placed it on his belt along with his other pokeballs. "Oh, by the way, I'm conducting another experiment which can turn people into Growlith. Would you like to contribute?" Mr.Ivy asked hopefully. "Uh, n-no thanks. We've had enogh for one day. seya!" Misty said quickly, as all three of them scrambled out of the door. They ran down the road as fast as their legs would carry them. Meanwhile, Team Rocket had entered the lab so that Meowth could prove to them that Ash was going to become a pokemon. "Can I help you?" Mr.Ivy asked "Uh, yeah. Did you by any chance turn a kid into a pokemon?" Jessie asked. "I almost did. Wanna see?" Mr.Ivy asked, looking hopeful. Next thing they knew, Jessie and James had been turned into Growlith, and weren't too pleased about it. They growled fearsly at Meowth, as if to say that it was his fault. "Waaa! n-no, stay away!" he cried, waving his hands infront of him frantically, as Team Rocket prowled closer. "Well, that's two experiments that work. I'm going to be rich and famous!" Mr.Ivy cheered, chuffed to bits at what he had accomplished. Meowth burst out of the lab with Jessie and James following, snapping and snarling. They chased him all the way down the street. Startled shoppers had to dash out of the way to avoid being knocked over. Mr.Ivy came out after them. "Oh, you guys will need to come back if you want to become human again!" he called. Officer Jenny happened to be standing on the othe side of the road, and took alot of interest in the subject...
