The Outcast Part 9 General Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon unfortunately. Not for a million years...until then. Heh, Heh, Heh. After flying for a few hours, Lavender town loomed ahead. It was choked with League Officers and trainers. , Nancy was right. Rockets didn't take it yet While they flying over town after town, Isaac could see trainers desperately fighting Team Rocket. He could also see fires everywhere, and Rockets storming inside building after building. **** People donated anything that wouldn't catch on fire, such as metal and plastic. Cell phones, doorknobs, lamps, light bulbs, anything. On the city limits, fire Pokemon melted these items, and created a large wall going around Lavender. Approximately five hundred trainers and League Officers were gathered in the small town. The last of the fighters. Isaac wondered if his Growlithe was ok. He sighed, knowing that the Growlithe was probably taken from another trainer by now. Isaac saw the largest concentration of Officer Jennies he'd ever seen. Maybe...just maybe...his Growlithe was with them. Isaac approached a Jenny, nervous and sweaty. "Uh...Officer?" Isaac said shyly. Officer Jenny snapped her head to face Isaac. "Yes? How may I help you?" "Uh...I was thinking...have you seen a Growlithe with a scar under its left eye? Cuz Rockets almost caught one, but it ran away and all...so I thought you might've seen it." "I'm sorry, I'd love to help you right now...but you have to understand. Rockets stole Pokemon from every one in ten people. The odds I've seen your Growlithe are slim." "Oh." "I'm sorry, it's never easy. Now go and serve the League!" With that, Officer Jenny saluted Isaac. That got his morale up, but Isaac was still down about not being able to be reunited with his Growlithe. 'I'm such an idiot. What are the odds Growlithe went all the way over here anyways. And that scar is barely visible. He got it while struggling with a Rocket that had a knife. Geez I hate Giovanni. And I was so close! O well, I might be able to find Growlithe melting and cooling a wall.' So that's what Isaac did. He searched the places the walls were being constructed. Every Growlithe he found, he studied carefully. **** Isaac had looked everywhere, and failed. He didn't see a single Growlithe with the same scar. He didn't see a single Growlithe with a scar at all. "Watch out! Here they come!" Isaac heard someone cry out from within the city. The walls were an ugly gray color and reached up to his neck. He couldn't see how the walls could save the town, but Isaac saw potential for it to slow the Rockets considerably. Isaac saw hundreds of Rockets heading towards Isaac's directions from the roads outside of the walls. "Oh my God..." Isaac thought. He ran towards the city yelling, "They've come! The Rockets arrived! Everyone release his or her Pokemon!" There was confusion as trainers called out Pokemon and League Officers loaded their guns. The League Officers ran up to the walls, and fired away. "Hey! That's not very fair!" Isaac said to Nancy. "They don't stand a chance, plus you guys are behind the walls!" "Keep your head low, there are still Elites Rockets out there." Nancy responded stiffly. Isaac obeyed, and as if Nancy was psychic, a bullet whizzed above his head. "So like I was saying, you guys are just expecting to shoot away at the Rockets?" Isaac said. "Yup. That's our only chance." Nancy said. Isaac was desperately trying to make somewhat interesting conversation, to try and block out the noises of Rockets dying. The guns droning everywhere almost drowned out the noise of dying people. Almost. "Well...I uh...I'm gonna go back to the city if you don't mind, since I can't shoot anyone." Isaac said. "Go ahead," Nancy said as she fired another round. "Just keep low," "Gotcha," Isaac said. **** Everyone that didn't have a gun was inside the city. The League Officers were doing a great job holding the Rockets off, as the trainers were doing nothing. People were milling about, waiting to battle. Others were talking amongst one another, discussing the odds they'd come out victorious. Isaac himself was still looking for the Growlithe. He asked every trainer if they'd seen a Growlithe with a scar under its left eye. Always the answer was no. Mike on the other hand, was exploring the area outside Rock Cave. He thought it was fascinating, with all the rocks and all. He also was interested at the sheer darkness within the place. One League Officer could be seen running towards the city. His throat was parched, cuts and scrapes colored his tanned body. He was wearing a t-shirt with the trademark "L" on it. "Everyone! To the Rock Cave!" He yelled, once reaching the interior of Lavender. "The walls have been breached, we'll hold them off. You guys, run to the cave!" There was sheer commotion as everyone fled towards the dark and mysterious cave, running from the force of Team Rocket. "What about Nancy?" Isaac asked the man, who stood on top of a podium. "She needs to be alive, since she's the CEO. She'll be joining you guys. Ah! There she is! Now go for the tunnel!" He responded. Isaac saw Nancy running towards the cave. Nancy caught up with Isaac. "We're going to a part of the cave that no trainer's been." She said. "It's amazing, it has its own source of light and several rare Pokemon dwell in it. Also, there's plenty of fruit growing trees and vegetables so we'll have enough food to last. It's called, Section 24." "Ooh...sci-fi." "Yea. We have to get inside before Team Rocket does, I'm sure the League will hold them off..." Her eyes fell and her eyes threatened to swell up with tears, "...at the expense of their lives. It's the only way though, and they'll be gladly giving up their lives." The trainers entered Rock Cave. Several fire Pokemon lit the way, and they proceeded. Nancy raced to the head of the pack. "Ok everyone, under strict orders I have to lead you guys to Section 24. It'll have plenty of food for everyone, so we'll hide there until Houenn comes in with reinforcements. Now follow me!" From within the crowd, gasps and "ooh..."s could be heard. There was a fork in the road. Nancy avoided the standard route, which was left, and went right. Only a measly 150 trainers followed her. After endless walking, and several Zubats, they reached a stairwell leading down. It looked so gloomy and uninviting; most trainers would've avoided it and gone backwards. Nancy didn't. It led to a lower floor of the cave, which was even darker than the regular cave. Electric Pokemon had to be called out. After a few minutes of walking, they reached a huge boulder. It looked big, and unbreakable. Nancy knew that this would be the only way to enter Section 24. She called out her Graveller, and ordered it to use Rock Smash. Several other trainers did as well. After finally crumbling the rock, every trainer was pierced with sudden light. This light was much brighter and more vivid than the regular sun. Another source was making this. Cries of pain could be heard, as nobody's eyes had adjusted. After a few minutes, everyone settled down and they entered. Isaac gasped at what he saw; he'd never seen anything like this before. The actual place was HUGE. It soared almost a mile high, and had a three-mile radius. There was a decent-sized lake, and tree after tree could be seen bearing fruit. There were hundreds of gardens growing vegetables of all sorts. Pokemon were plentiful as well. Off to the corner, Isaac saw a collection of caves. It looked gloomy and deserted, but he planned to check it out later. Four League Officers approached Nancy, and talked to her. "Welcome to Section 24! Help yourself to the food here, there's plenty for all!" One League Officer said. **** After several hours of exploring, Isaac found out interesting things about the place. He learned that there were about 20 League Officers guarding the area in case intruders approached. Several legendary Pokemon were claimed to live in the caves, and the pond was home to several Lapras. Isaac caught one, and then moved on. "Hey Mike, I caught a Lapras." Isaac said as he approached his old friend who was eating a carrot. "Really? I caught a Stantler." Mike replied. "Isaac, Mike?" A familiar voice filled the air. "Professor Elm?" They shouted in shock at the same time. **** "Well, I hid here after the Rockets attacked the lab. I managed to salvage everything with help of the Pokemon that lived there. The League Officers sent us here, Professor Oak is here as well." Elm said, as the two were taking a walk towards his laboratory. Put it simply, the lab was white. White doors, white desks, white bookshelves; you get the idea. "I have two Pokemon I want you two to raise. You two have made quite a name for yourself," "We have?" "Well among Team Rocket anyways. So...as I was saying, there are two rare Pokemon in my lab I want you two to have. They're babies, hatched from eggs we found." Isaac and Mike couldn't believe their luck. They went inside the lab, which itself was a two-roomed building. It was also white, with shelves of pokeballs. Elm went into a corner, and pulled out two pokeballs. "Here, pick one. It'll be yours to keep," He said. Isaac took out a shaky hand, and picked the pokeball on Elm's right hand. Mike took the one on the left. "Well...let's release it!" Mike said. He was ready to throw his pokeball... "AAHH! No...heh...what I'm saying is...outside. [gulp]" Elm pointed towards the door. "Release them outside." Isaac went first. "Go! Pokeball!" The pokeball was released. A white blob came out, and slowly took shape of... "Aerodactyl? Cool...but aren't they extinct?" "They are...but we cloned this one from some stray DNA found inside ancient amber." "Sweeeeeeet..." "Ok! My turn! Pokeball! Go!" The white formed itself into a... "Snorlax?" "Yes, those are actually pretty rare. That's the reason I wanted you to release it outside...since it's so big. It's also three months, but I think it could grow a little more than that," "MORE than that gigantic size? Neat..." Mike admired his Snorlax, which seemed to be sleeping. "Hm...two new Pokemon in one day, considering how picky we are," Isaac said with a smile, "I'd say that's pretty good." To Be Continued... So that's a really short short short short episode, but I have to start writing in html so the next part is a lot bigger, and in html. Thanks for putting up with this stupid formatting till now, if anyone's reading this. As always, reviews are welcome, flames or compliments alike.
