Rival Trainers Battle Clash! Chapter 7 by Jam SBKidJamX@aol.com hometown.aol.com/sbkidjamx/Jeffpage.html Well, our heroes have finally reached Skyhigh City, and their first Gym. Will they be able to defeat the Gym Leader? Or will they crash and burn? Read on and find out! Skyhigh City was really big. A lot bigger than Gigaton. I now knew why it was called Skyhigh City: the skyscrapers! They were all over the place, everywhere you looked! "Sure is big, huh Nathan?" I asked. "Yeah. A lot bigger than Gigaton in comparison." he agreed. "We should take our Pokémon over to the Pokémon Center and get them healed up." I suggested. We walked into the Center and were instantly greeted by an energetic young woman with her red hair tied back in two ponytails that looked like circles and a Chansey. "Hello! Welcome to Skyhigh Pokémon Center! My name is Nurse Joy. How can I help you?" she asked. "Well, we'd like to rest up our Pokémon." I asked. I handed over Farfetch'd and Jigglypuff, and Nathan gave her Squirtle and Bellsprout. She placed them in a machine and closed the cover. "Revitalizing your Pokémon is a lengthy process, about a few hours. During that time, why don't you go and explore Skyhigh City? I'm sure you'll find some things that catch your interest!" she said. Nathan and I quickly thanked her and then exited. "She was pretty peppy." I said. "Yeah, a little too peppy." Nathan agreed. "What are you going to do now, Jeff?" "I think I'll go stock up on supplies and such." I said. "I'm going to go check out the sights. Why don't we meet back at the Center in a few hours?" Nathan suggested. I agreed and we both headed off to do our own things. A few hours later, I walked out of the Skyhigh Mall fully stocked up. I'd also bought some things for myself and for Nathan, a little Pokémon figurine that shot a PokéBall out of it's stomach for $5. I walked to the Center, and after picking up my Pokémon, I found out that Nathan had already left for the Gym. I quickly ran over to it, and ran into him. "Hey, Nathan!" I said. "Jeff! I won the Badge!" he said, excited. "Wow, really? Lemme see it!" He showed it to me, and it looked like a brightly-colored feather. "It's called the Feather Badge. Pretty sweet, huh?" he said. "Yeah, and I'm gonna go get one of my own!" I said, running into the Gym. It was dark inside the Gym, the lights weren't on. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I noticed a shady figure standing upon a raised pedestal. "Have you come to challenge the Leader of this Gym?" he said. "Yes, I have!" The lights came on and the Gym Leader stepped down from his pedestal. "My name is Daniel and I'm the Leader of this Gym. But everyone calls me Tanner." he said. "My name's Jeff. What kind of nickname is Tanner, anyhow?" I asked. "I don't know, really. I picked it up somewhere." he said. "Uh-huh." "Anyways, my rules are a 2-on-2 match. Do you accept?" "Yeah, let's go!" "Go, Spearow!" he said, throwing a PokéBall. The Spearow popped out, it's wings spread in an intimidating stance. "Speeeeeear!" it cried out. "I choose Jigglypuff!" I said, throwing out Jigglypuff. "Puff!" it said, glaring at the Spearow. "Spearow, let's start this match with Scratch!" Tanner commanded. Spearow flew forward and started to scratch Jigglypuff with it's talons. Jigglypuff tried it's best to defend it, but to no avail. "Hang in there, Jigglypuff! Use Mega Punch!" Jigglypuff pulled it's tiny fist back and slammed it full-force into Spearow, causing it to spin through the air. "Spearow, Gust!" Spearow started to flap it's wings powerfully at Jigglypuff, causing a gust of air to send it flying into the wall behind it. Jigglypuff shook it's head, but regained it's composure. "Jigglypuff, Jump Kick!" I commanded. Jigglypuff leaped into the air and delivered a powerful flying kick to Spearow, which caused it to crash into the opposite wall and faint. "All right!" I said, cheering. "Hmph." is all Tanner said, as he recalled Spearow. "You're a good trainer. But let's see how you do in Round 2! Pidgey, go!" he threw his PokéBall and this time, a Pidgey emerged. I recalled Jigglypuff. "Okay then! I'll fight Flying with Flying! Go, Farfetch'd!" I said, and Farfetch'd emerged from it's PokéBall, twirling it's leek. "That Farfetch'd is dust! Pidgey, Quick Attack!" Tanner commanded. Pidgey flew at an alarming rate toward Farfetch'd, but he was just a little bit quicker, and barely dodged to the side. "Farfetch'd, Cut!" I said. Farfetch'd quickly swing his leek at Pidgey and delivered a cutting blow to it, staggering it. "Pidgey, Mirror Move!" Pidgey suddenly Cut Farfetch'd with his talon! I was both surprised and amazed. "Farfetch'd, try out Sand-Attack!" I said. Farfetch'd kicked up a cloud of dust through which Pidgey could not see. Farfetch'd started to beat up on Pidgey from all sides, and could not defend itself. It fell over, fainted. "Yeaaaaaah!" I yelled, triumphantly. Tanner, sulking, recalled his Pidgey and walked over to me. "You fight well," he said. "As proof of your victory, I present you with the Feather Badge." he said, placing the brightly-colored Badge in my hand. "Thank you." I said, and I placed the Badge in a special Badge Box I'd picked up at the Mall. "I'm closing down the Skyhigh Gym. I want to go and explore the world myself." Tanner explained. "You were my last opponent. Consider yourself lucky." he said. "Maybe we'll run into each other on the way." I said. He nodded, and I shook his hand. Nathan ran up to me. "So, didja win?" he asked. "Of course I did! What do you think I am, dense?" I said. "Heh, way to go Jeff! We both won our very first Badge!" he sid, congratulating both him and me. "Yeah. So, why don't we take a rest? We deserve it." I said. Nathan agreed. That night we had a big dinner at the Center to celebrate. We even let Nurse Joy and Chansey have some stuff. We woke the next day, bright and early. "So Nathan, where are we headed next?" I asked. "It looks like a place called Necro Town. But in order to get there we have to cross over a path called Aqua Way." he explained. "Sounds like a great place to catch some Pokémon." I said. Nathan and I set out for Necro Town, eager to fight the Gym Leader there for our 2nd Badge. Aqua Way sounded intriguing. I wonder what we'd find there. Maybe a Pokémon or two? Who knew? Either way, we were on the adventure of our lives, and we were enjoying every minute of it! To Be Continued... "Say, Red, why didn't we appear in this Chapter?" Yellow said. "Ummm...'cause the author didn't put us in it?" Red suggested. "Well, why not? We're certainly capable of doing the job." Pink complained. "Yeah, that author guy sure isn't too bright. I mean, I really think the chapter would've been a lot more exciting and action-packed had we been in it." Black answered. "It's his choice what he wants to put in or keep out, right? So just lay off him." Green whined. "SHUT UP!" all the others said. Green shrunk into the corner. "Look, either we're in the next Chapter or that author guy gets the ax. Agreed?" Red said. "Agreed!" they all said. Sheesh. My own characters are rebelling against me. How pathetic is THAT?
