Paint me a Birmingham

Disclaimer: I do not own pokemon or any of the characters. I also do not own the song "Paint me a Birmingham" by Tracey Lawrence.

Note: Hi everyone! The sequel to "My Second Journey" is on the way! My pen-pal challenged me to write one of those stories with a song in it, so here it is!

_.~*~._.~*~._.~*~._

I was sitting in the hospital waiting room, hoping that the doctor would come soon with news about Misty. The room was decorated with potted plants, mostly little palm trees. They reminded me of a day, three years ago, when Misty and I went to the beach together.

It had been hot during the day, but we decided to meet at the beach in the evening, to see the sunset. Misty and I had been dating for about a year, and we had known each other for far longer than that.

I had arrived at the beach early, the sun was just barely turning orange, not setting yet, and I saw a man there with an easel and paints.

He was sittin' there
His brush in hand
Painting waves as they danced
Apon the sand.

With every stroke he brought to life
the deep blue of the ocean
against the morning sky.

And I asked him if he only painted ocean scenes.
He said, "For twenty dollars,
I'll paint you anything."

There was a pretty bunch of palm trees on the edge of a small cliff that rose about ten feet above the water. Between them you could see the sunset. The sun was just about to set, and above it, you could already see the stars coming out.

"See that," I said to the man, "Could you paint that for me?" I pointed to the area of trees. "Paint it exactly like it is now, please." I handed him a twenty.

Then Misty came. We sat by the trees and watched the sunset. We talked a while, until the sun was gone. I thought to myself, "I really love her. I want to be with her forever." And right then, even though I didn't have a ring to give her, I asked Misty to marry me. She said yes.

We talked a long while after. As we were leaving, I remembered the painting. The artist guy was no longer there, but, sitting there on my car's windshield, was the peice of canvas. Misty had noticed it there first. I took a good look at the it.

It was beautiful. It seemed like a photograph, it looked so real. The colors were perfect. And, sitting there on the ground, were two figures shillouetted aginst the sun. Misty and I. He had painted the moment that I had proposed to Misty.

"Mist," I said, "I don't have your ring yet, but this is for you."

Just then my thoughts were interrupted. I was back in the hospital, waiting for news about Misty. A nurse came in. "How is she?" I asked. "Good news," the nurse replied, "It's a girl."

"Yeah!" I yelled. A few other people in the waiting room stared, but I didn't care. "Today is one of the happiest days of my life," I thought, as I proceeded to Misty's room.

We decided to call the baby Misty, just like her mom. Her nickname would be Mist.

I turned to it on the chair next to Misty's bed, when I saw that she had hung a painting on the wall. It was the painting of the ocean that I had given to her years ago.

Well, hope you liked it. Please review. I'll try to get the new story out soon. See ya!
