Chapter 3

	I took out Vulpix’s Poke’ ball. “ Just remember, when I kick your butt, 
you asked for it.” 
“ Whatever.” The grunt took out a Poke’ ball. “ Come out Plulse!”
“ Show ‘em what you’re made of Vulpix!” I threw the Poke’ ball and Vulpix 
appeared.
“ Plulse, use Thunder Punch!” 
“ Vulpix, dodge and use Flamethrower!” I commanded. Vulpix was fast on it’s feet 
so it easily dodged the attack. Then it got Plulse with a blast of flames, 
before Plulse even got close to it. “ Good! Now combine Tackle with Blast 
Blaze!” 
“ Plulse, get as far away from that Vulpix as you can!” 


	Vulpix spit out flames and dove into them as Plulse was looking for a way 
to get out. But there was no way out and Vulpix charged at Plulse in a flaming 
tackle. Plulse fell over in defeat. “ Plulse, return...” The grunt disdainfully 
recalled Plulse back.
“ Hand her over.” I demanded. 
The grunts eyes grew big. “ No, please, not Plulse!” 
“ I don’t want your Poke’mon moron! I want the prisoner!”
“ No way! She has valuable information, I’m not gonna hand her over just like 
that! Plus we have orders to make her a team member, weather she likes it or 
not!” 
“ Vulpix-“
“ Okay, okay,” he glared at me. “ You heard her,” he said to Joey. “ Get over 
there.”
She got up and ran over to us. “ Let’s go guys.” I said over my shoulder.
“ Go through that door.” Jordan pointed to a door at the end of the hallway. “ 
The Boss should be in there.” 
“ WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE CAN’T GO THROUGH?!” Someone yelled through the other door. 
Then the door shot off in a fiery blaze and a boy, about 18, walked in with a 
Ninetails at his side. He was dressed all in red. Three other trainers appeared 
behind him, two girls and another boy. “ Idiots! Can’t you see I’m the Fire 
Master?!” he yelled.
The girl we met before came rushing in. “ I’m sorry sir, but these are the real 
Element Masters.” She pointed to us.
“ They can’t be!” a girl dressed in blue yelled.
“ I’m sorry but I’m afraid you’ll have to leave...”
“ Vileplume, use Sleep Powder on her.” A boy, dressed in green, commanded. A 
Vilplume appeared out of nowhere and shot purple spores all over the place. The 
girl fell over, asleep.
“ Who are you?!” The guy with the Ninetails yelled at us. His Ninetails let out 
a low growl.
“ Who are you?!” I shouted back. Vulpix growled at him.
“ We’re the real Element Masters! I’m Ember.” He said.
“ I’m Pacific, Ember’s girlfriend!” The girl dressed in blue introduced herself.
“ I’m Sage!” The boy in green yelled.
“ I’m Electra, Sage’s girlfriend!” said the girl in yellow.
“ Isn’t Ember a girl’s name?” I taunted.
“ Shut up! What’s your name, so-called-Element-Master?”
“ My name is Jimmy Red.”
“ Jimmy?” He started to laugh.
“ That’s right, fag! And you better not wear it out!”
Ember took out a Poke’ ball. “ Well Jimmy, I challenge you to a match!” 
“ I-“
“ I’ll take you on!” Patrick cut me off.
“ Alright, I’m always happy to show a loser his place.”
“ So am I.” Patrick said. He took out a Poke’ ball.
“ Say what you want, I’ll still show you your place! Let’s go Magby!” Ember 
threw up his Poke’ ball and a Magby appeared.
“ Seel, show these losers them place!” Patrick threw up the sapphire Poke’ ball, 
Seel appeared, ready to fight. “ Seel, use Aurora Beam!” 
“ Magby, melt it with Flamethrower!” Ember commanded. Seel let out a powerful 
freezing rainbow beam, while Magby countered with a powerful blast of fire. Seel 
looked frustrated.
“ That’s okay Seel, use Hydro Pump!” Before Ember could even let out a breath of 
air, Seel  blasted Magby, square in the chest, with mounds of water. “ Good, now 
use Surf!” A wave of water crashed down on Magby. When everything cleared away, 
Magby was lying on the ground.  
“ Magby return.” Ember said quietly. It disappeared. “ You’ll pay for that!” 
“ Hold it!” Officer Jenny appeared out of nowhere and a couple other officers 
appeared out of nowhere. “ You guys are under arrest!” 
Ember and the other’s took off running. I threw Kakashi’s Poke’ ball. “ Kakashi, 
use Thunder Wave!” I yelled.
“ Vileplume,” Sage yelled over his shoulder, “ Use Poison Powder on that girl.” 

	The two things happened all at once. Kakashi messed up his Thunder Wave, 
trying to keep out of the Poison Powder’s way, and the Poison Powder hit me 
directly. I coughed as the spores took over. Joey ran over to me. “ Stay still!” 
she said. I began to fade out, starting to feel pain all over my body. “ If you 
move, you’ll feel more pain.” I nodded, and found out that moving really did 
make it worse.
“ Let’s take her to a hospital.” Officer Jenny’s voice chimed in.
“ No, it’s too far,” Joey started “ My mom’s place isn’t too far from here, she 
knows how to handle this kind of thing. I coughed slightly, only to fall over. 
Patrick and Kyle came over. “ Pick her up. I’ll show you guys where to go.”
“ We’ll give you a ride to make things easier.” Jenny offered. Joey nodded. 

	They carried me out to a police car, we were at my aunt’s place in no 
time. My aunt came running out. “ What’s wrong?”
“ Mom, Jimmy got hit with Poison Powder.” 
“ How?”
“ Long story. What do we do?” 
“ Bring her in.” I got up. Feeling fully capable of walking, a little 
lightheaded, and in pain, but capable. 
“ You shouldn’t walk on your own.” Officer Jenny said, taking my arm. 
“ I can, and I will.” I growled, jerking my arm away. I didn’t like to be 
treated like a baby. 
“ But-“ 
“ I’m 14 years old, and I can walk!” I yelled. She backed off. “ Where’s 
Kakashi?” I asked, calming down a bit. 
“ Who?”
“ My Growlithe.” 
“ He’s in the back.” Just then Kakashi jumped out, Vulpix close behind. 
“ Jimmy Rose!” My aunt yelled. “ Quit acting like a big baby and get in here 
this instant!” I walked over, stumbling a few times. “ Here eat this.” She 
handed me a pink colored berry. 
“ What is it?” I asked.
“ Just eat it.” I took a bite, and immediately felt better. 
“ It’s really good, and sweet...like candy!” I ate the whole thing.
“ Feel better?” Joey asked.  
“ Yeah...” 
Officer Jenny came in. “ Everything okay?” 
“ Yes, she’ll be fine.” My aunt smiled. “ Please excuse her behavior, from 
before, she tends to act that way.”
Officer Jenny nodded. “ We should be going now, we need to investigate the 
building.”
“ What’ll happen to Vulpix?” I got up. 
“ What about Vulpix?”
“ It’s not mine.” I said sheepishly. 
“ What do you mean?” she looked suspicious. I explained the whole thing. 
My aunt looked surprised. “ You did all of that?!” 
“ Yeah.” I laughed nervously. 
“ Just wait until I tell your mother!” 
“ No don’t! She won’t let me go on if you do!” 
Jenny interrupted. “ I think you should keep that Vulpix.” 
“ Really?” 
“ The person who caught it clearly didn’t want it, and they were probably treat 
it badly anyway. You obviously care about it. So I see no point in you not being 
able to keep it.”
“ Awesome!” I ran into the outside where Patrick, Kyle, and Monique were. “ 
Dude, did you hear that? I get to keep Vulpix!”
“  What about the other Poke’mon?”
“ What other Poke’mon?” Kyle asked.
“ There’s more?” Jenny came out. 
“ Yeah, a Treeko, a Pichu, and a Seel.” Patrick said.
“ Keep them too. I trust you’ll be good trainers.”

	So the officers left, we were invited to stay over for dinner. We sat 
around the huge table, happily discussing what happened. My aunt gladly gave us 
rooms to stay in. They all went to bed early, except for Patrick and I. I went 
to my room and changed into some pajamas. “ Kakashi, Vulpix, come out.” I held 
out their Poke’ balls. They seemed happy to be out. “ Kakashi, Vulpix is part of 
our team now.” I smiled and tussled Vulpix’s bangs lovingly. “ I gave Kakashi a 
name, so I’ll give you one. Later though.” They got comfortable and fell asleep 
in no time. I snuck out of my room and knocked on the door across the hallway.
“ Who is it?”
“ Me...” I whispered. 
The door opened and Patrick appeared. “ What are you doing?” 
“ I came to say good night.”
“ Shouldn’t you be asleep?” 
“ Shouldn’t you?”
He grinned.“ Alright, I’ll go to sleep if you do.”
I hugged him. “ Good night.”
“ No good night kiss?” he asked, as though he was deeply hurt. I kissed him 
gently. I started to pull away. “No, wait.” He pulled me in again, running his 
tongue along my lower lip, hoping I’d let him in, I did. He pulled me all the 
way into his room and closed the door. 

	While that was going on, little did we know someone was watching us. From 
behind a cracked door, he watched us, until he couldn’t take it any longer. His 
heart silently bursting in misery. He waited, until we left, to walk three doors 
down. Knocking softly on the door. “ What?” Monique asked, almost yelling for 
being disturbed from her sleep.
“ Can I come in?” Kyle asked.
The door opened a crack, “ What is it?” 
“ I need to talk to you.”
She halfheartedly let him in. “ Something wrong?”
He shrugged sadly. “ It’s Jimmy...and Patrick...” He sat on the bed.
“ What is it?” She sat next to him.
“ I caught them making out...he pulled her in his room and closed the door...”
She looked and him and smiled slightly. “ Maybe just to get a little more 
private...this is her aunt’s house.”
“ Yeah, but what about me?” He asked, holding back tears. “ I’ve known her 
longer than he has. I should be the one in there, not him.”
Something stabbed in Monique’s heart.“ You never let her know...you were to 
late. Sooner or later someone was gonna get her.” She put an arm around his 
shoulders.
“ I guess you’re right...” He tensed up a bit. “ Now what? I don’t think I could 
stand them being together.”
Monique couldn’t help but feel defensive. “ She’s happy, let her be and get on 
with your life. Find someone new.”
He looked at her. “ How? She’s the only one I’ve ever really liked. Maybe 
loved.”
“ Kyle, I have to be completely honest with you...” Monique started, feeling 
that now was the time.
“ Huh?”
“ I know you like Jimmy, and now she has Patrick.” With every word coming to 
what she felt, her pulse increased. “ You’re not the only one who’s been in love 
for a long time. Someone still has hope that the one she loves will return that 
love. She won’t give up.” 
“ Who?” 
She looked into his eyes. “ Me...” She leaned forward and kissed him with 
everything she had. Her hands clutching the back of his head, as though she was 
afraid he’d disappear if she let go.

	At first he tensed up, then returned the kiss. Her grip relaxed on is 
skull. He held her tightly by the hips, positioning her so that he could get 
deeper. Eventually they fell asleep in each others arms.
