Chapter 11 Sandshrew's Sandstorm

"Okay now Pokéball go," Karl yelled throwing a Pokéball at the Pokémon it
was captured.
"You caught it," Tonya said.
"What about that," Karl said going to pick up the Pokéball but it
disappeared in a white flash.
"Sand," Karl's Sandshrew said sounding slightly depressed.
"What happen to it?" Karl asked.
"You idiot it got transferred to the professor because you already have six
Pokémon," Tonya said.
"Right I forgot," Karl said pulling out his Pokédex.
<Mankey A Pig Monkey Pokémon. A strong fighting Pokémon; some of it's
strongest moves include Seismic Toss. Many people refer to it as the 
'Warrior
Monkey' Extremely quick to anger. It could be docile one moment then 
thrashing
away the next instant. All Mankey's have boxing gloves and are very 
aggressive.
As a Fighting-type Pokémon, Mankey is more agile than most Pokémon. It can
dodge even special attacks quite easily. >
"They sure are a lot of Pokémon on this island," Tonya said.
"And I am going to catch'em all," Karl said.
"Shrew," Sandshrew said still in a sad mood.  Just then a Pokémon ran
out of some bushes.
"Look another Pokémon," Karl said pointing his Pokédex at the Pokémon.
<Miltank the cow Pokémon. > The Pokédex said.  <Its milk is packed with
nutrition, making it the ultimate beverage for the sick or weary. If it has 
just had a
baby, the milk it produces contains much more nutrition than usual. >
"Pokémon capture number 2," Karl said pulling out a Pokéball.
"Sandshrew attack with your Slash attack."
"Shrew, the Pokémon said standing up slowly and walking towards Miltank
and missing the Pokémon with its claws.
"Sandshrew what's wrong with you, use Swift," Karl yelled.
"Sand," Sandshrew said looking very depressed it collapsed on the
ground.
"What?  Sandshrew," Karl yelled running up to the Pokémon.
"Go Pokéball," Tonya said throwing a Pokéball.
"Pidgeotto," the Pokémon said.
"Since your Sandshrew decided to quit I'm going to capture it," she said.
"What?  That isn't fair," Karl yelled to her.
"Pidgeotto Quick Attack," Tonya yelled to Pokémon.
Pidgeotto flu at full speed towards Miltanks connected with the Quick
Attack in the face.  Miltank then tried to Body Slam Pidgeotto but missed.
"Sandshrew what's wrong with you?" Karl said to Sandshrew.
"Pidgeotto use Gust," Tonya yelled.
Pigeotto started to flap its wings at a high speed knocking the Pokémon
down.
"Now Pokéball go," Tonya yelled.  The Pokéball flu towards Miltank and hit
it on the head the Pokémon was sucked inside the Pokéball.  The Pokéball
shook a couple of times before stopping.  "Alright," Tonya said picking up
Miltanks Pokéball.
"Sandshrew why won't you answer me?" Karl said.
"Is something wrong?" Tonya asked.
"Is something wrong?" Karl said mocking her.  "Of course there is
something wrong!"
"Geez what's gotten into you?" Tonya said.
"If you won't talk to me maybe you will talk to one of your friends," Karl
said pulling out a Pokéball and releasing the Pokémon.
"Pichu," the Pokémon said.
"Pichu something is wrong with Sandshrew but he wont talk to me," Karl
said.
{Okay I will check it out{ the mouse Pokémon said walking up to
Sandshrew.
{What's wrong Sandshrew? } Pichu asked but Sandshrew wouldn't say a
word.
"Hmm this is very strange," Tonya said.
"Maybe we should get him to a Pokémon Center," Karl said picking up
Sandshrew.
"Where is the nearest center?" Tonya asked.
"I don't know," Karl said pulling out his Pokédex.
<Tropica Island nearest Pokémon Center is located two miles east of your
current location on the shore of the island it is the only Pokémon Center on 
this
whole island. >
"Good then lets go," Karl said walking in the direction of the Pokémon
Center.
<Poor Sandshrew> Pichu said.
"Don't worry he will be okay," Tonya said.
"If you want to stay and capture more Pokémon you can," Karl said.
"Good I think I will," Tonya said walking away.
"Lets keep going," Karl said heading towards the Pokémon Center.
The peeping Delta's…

"Okay," Donny said.  "It looks like their splitting up."
"We have to stop Karl but with that 'Pidgeotto use Whirlwind'," Cindy said
imitating Tonya.  "We will take her out first she has the least amount of 
Pokémon
and then we will kill that Karl."
"Good idea," Donny said.
That was short now Team Rocket…

"Return Slowking," Haley said calling back her Pokémon.
"Is a good thing that you finally steal your own Pokémon," Harvey said.
"It was easy," Haley said.
"Yes it was but now back to our mission," Harvey said.
"Make Karl disappear," Haley said.
Hope they have a good plan…

"Well it seems to me that your Sandshrew is as healthy as any other
Sandshrew," Nurse Joy said.
"Yeah but it seems-," Karl said getting interrupted.
"Depressed," Nurse Joy said.
"Yes," Karl said. "I guess, but what can I do."
"You could take him to Sandra," Nurse Joy said.
"Sandra who she?" Karl asked.
"She is the only person besides me who leaves on the island," Nurse Joy
said.
"Yeah but what can she do?" Karl asked.
"She trains Ground Pokémon like Sandshrew," Nurse Joy said.
"Good where can I find her?" Karl asked.
"She lives in the desert part of the island," Nurse Joy said.
"How do I find her if she lives in a desert?" Karl asked.
And now back to Tonya…

"I can't believe it," Tonya said.  "I haven't run into a single Pokémon 
since I
left Karl.  I know," she said pulling out a Pokéball.
"Nido," the Pokémon said coming out of his Pokéball.
"I will train Nidoking," she said.
"Nido," the Pokémon said lying down and taking a nap.
"Now you listen to me I trained you ever since we left home you're my first
Pokémon," Tonya said.
"Nido?" the he said opening his eyes.
Flashback Begin…

"Now that you are old enough to be a Pokémon trainer I am giving you this
Nidoran Male I captured for you," Tonya's father said.
"Thanks Daddy," Tonya said taking the Pokéball.
"Nidoran," the Pokémon said popping out of its Pokéball.
Flashback End…

"Don't you remember that?" Tonya said.
"Nido," the Pokémon said turning away and closing its eyes again.
"Come on…uhhh…what about our battles," Tonya said.
Another Flashback…

"Nidoran we cant afford to lose use Horn Attack," Tonya yelled.
"Nidoran," said the badly burned Pokémon as it charged the Ponyta hitting
it in the head and knocking it out.
"What," the Ponyta's trainer said.
"Yeah Nidoran," Tonya said running up to Nidoran but then it started to
glow.
"Uhh," Tonya said shielding her eyes from the light.
When it faded Nidoran had evolved to Nidorino.
"Wow," Tonya yelled.
Another Flashback ended…

"Nido," the Pokémon said as its eyes began to water.
"Yeah and do you remember when you evolved to Nidoking," Tonya said
gasping afterwards.
"Nido," the Pokémon said getting upset it stood up and took off into the
bushes knocking over trees.
"Nidoking, come back!" Tonya yelled chasing Nidoking.
Okay this is the last Flashback…

"Ha ha now its time to steal your Pidgey," the rocket said throwing a Great
Ball.
"Nido," Nidorino yelled jumping in front of Pidgey and getting hit with the
Pokéball.  Nidorino got captured because it had also fought against the 
rocket
and go hurt really bad.
"Nooooo!" Tonya yelled.
"Ha Team Rocket strikes again at the speed of light," the rocket said
running away.
"Pidgey," Tonya said running up to her other hurt Pokémon.
A couple of days later…

"Nidorino where are you," Tonya said calling out for Pokémon.
"So it's you," the rocket that had captured Nidorino said appearing out of
the shadows.
"Give me back my Nidorino," Tonya said.
"Yeah, well I got news for you it isn't a Nidorino anymore," he said
throwing a Great Ball.
"Nidoking," the Pokémon said.
"What did you do to him?" Tonya said.
"I evolved it with a Moon Stone to the now very powerful Nidoking," the
rocket said.
"You monster," Tonya said running up to the rocket and tackling him, the
rocket got back up and punched Tonya in the face she fell back a couple of
steps.
"Nidoking attack," the rocket said.
"No don't do it Nidoking," Tonya yelled.
"Nidoking Horn Drill," the rocket yelled.
"Ahh," Tonya yelled as she barely dodged the horn.  "Sorry I have to do
this," she said pulling out a Pokéball and throwing it.
"Pidgey," the bird Pokémon yelled.
"Ha Nidoking Thrash," the rocket yelled.
"Pidgey I know Nidoking is our friend but we have to recapture him now
Gust," Tonya yelled.
Nidoking tried to Thrash Pidgey but the Gust attack held Nidoking in its
place.
"Nidoking you idiot Hyperbeam," the rocket yelled.
"Pidgey use Quick Attack on his legs," Tonya yelled.
Nidoking charged up for Hyperbeam as Pidgey hit him in the legs making
the Pokémon trip right as it shot out Hyperbeam the attack went wild hitting 
the
rocket and sending him flying.
"Pokéball go!" Tonya said throwing a Pokéball and recapturing her
Pokémon.
The end of the last Flashback…

"Nidoking, where are you?" Tonya yelled.
"That not the way to capture a Pokémon," a voice said.
"Who's there," Tonya yelled.
"You capture a Pokémon with a Pokéball and a human with a net,"
another voice said as a net appeared out of nowhere and fell on Tonya.
"Ahh," Tonya yelled.
Finally back to Karl…

"According to Nurse Joy this Sandra is suppose to be out in the middle of
nowhere," Karl said.
He was in the middle of nowhere in the desert part of the island which is
the inside circle of the island he was holding Sandshrew as he kept walking 
in
the hot sun.
"At this rate I will never find her Sandshrew," Karl said.
Sandshrew didn't response.
"Why wont you talk to me or any of my Pokémon?" Karl said.
Sandshrew just sighed.
"Sandshrew," Karl said starting his sentence but he then saw a Pokémon.
"Look a Pokémon I wonder which one it is?" he said pulling out his Pokédex.
<Cubone the lonely Pokémon. > The Pokédex said.  <Being of ground-
type, it won't even dent flying-types. Cubone use the bones of other Pokémon 
to
fashion crude weapons and armor, including clubs and boomerangs that they
wield with deadly efficiency. Because it never removes its skull helmet, no 
one
has ever seen this Pokémon's real face. >
"Well when I capture it I will," Karl said pulling out a Pokéball.
"Shrew," was all the Pokémon could say.
"Okay Sandshrew attack with a Scratch attack," Karl yelled.
"Sand," was all it said.
"Sandshrew what is wrong with you," Karl said pulling out another
Pokéball and throwing it.
"Charmander," the Pokémon said.
"Okay now use Ember," Karl yelled.
"Char," the Pokémon said letting 3 ember balls.  Cubone used its club and
hit the ember balls back at Charmander who barely dodged them.
"Cu," the bone Pokémon said throwing its Club at Charmander.
"Charmander look out," Karl yelled.
"Der," Charmander yelled ducking under the club.
"Bone," the Pokémon said.
"All right now Flamethrower," Karl yelled.
"Char," the fire lizard yelled as it charged up to shot out the flame, the
bone club hit Charmander in the head from behind making it point its mouth
down it released the Flamethrower that sent it flying into the air and 
crashing on
the ground knocked out.
"Cu bone bone bone," the Pokémon said as it caught the club.
"Man that is one tough Pokémon," Karl said.  "Return Charmander."
"Char," the Pokémon said as it disappeared into its Pokéball.
"Good job Cubone," a blonde headed girl said appearing from under a big
rock.
"Who are you?" Karl asked.
"I'm Sandy," she said.
Back to surfing the net…

"Team Delta," Tonya said as they appeared from the shadows.
"The one and only," Donny said.
"What are you doing here?" Tonya yelled.
"We are here to steal your Pokémon," Cindy said.
"No you can't," Tonya said.
"Yes we can," Donny said.
"We were getting sick and tired of you and your Pidgeotto blowing us
away," Cindy said.
"Yeah we have been blown away so many times we have a lot of frequent
flyer miles," Donny said.
"So we decided to get rid of you," Cindy said.
"It will make it easier for us to eliminate Karl," Donny said.
"You won't win that easily," Tonya said reaching for one of her Pokéball
and releasing the Pokémon.
"Mil," the Pokémon said.
"What's that?" Cindy asked.
"It's a Miltank," Donny said.
"Miltank Body Slam," Tonya yelled.
"Tank," the Pokémon said charging Team Delta and hitting them they flew
into a tree.
"Ow," Cindy yelled.
"Uhh," Donny yelled.
"Great now help me out," Tonya said.
And now back to Karl…

"…and now when I called him out to help me capture a Pokémon it
seemed depressed it didn't even want to talk to me or anyone else," Karl 
said
explaining everything about Sandshrew.
"Well it seems to me that Sandshrew is depressed," Sandy said.
"I know that, I was just needed you to tell me why," Karl said.
"How am I supposed to know? He is your Pokémon," Sandy said.
"Yes he is," Karl said thinking.
'Maybe it doesn't get enough time out of its Pokéball?" Sandy asked.
"Maybe but…Pokémon are like people and people get depress for a lot of
reasons," Karl said.
"Yes," Sandy said.
"I know I sometimes need to be left alone anytime I lose," Karl said.
"So you think Sandshrew is depressed because it hasn't won as many
battles as the other Pokémon," Sandy said.
"Yes…in fact the last time Sandshrew won a battle was back at the K.T
Canyon tournament against that Scyther that was a while back," Karl said
remembering the fight.
"So all you need to do is get more victories under Sandshrew's belt and it
won't feel like it is letting you down," Sandy said.
"Yeah," Karl said remembering his first Pokémon capture.  "Don't worry
Sandshrew we will win them all."
"Shrew," was all the Pokémon said.
"That was a very touching story," Haley said.
"It was," Harvey said agreeing with her.
"Its Team Rocket," Karl yelled.
"Cubone Bonemerang," Sandy yelled.
"Cubone," the Pokémon said throwing its club at Team Rocket.
"No you don't," Haley said releasing a Pokémon.
"Slowking," the Pokémon said reflecting the club away with a Water Gun
attack the Club hit Cubone knocking it out.
"Cubone," Sandy said picking it up.
"What kind of Pokémon is that?" Karl said pulling out his Pokédex.
< Slowking the evolved from of a Slowpoke.  It has incredible intellect and
intuition. Whatever the situation, it remains calm and collected. When its 
head
was bitten, toxins entered Slowpoke's head and unlocked an extraordinary
power. >
Sandshrew curled up into a ball.
Tonya is trapped…

"Sandslash and Marowak Earthquake," Cindy yelled.
The two Pokémon started an Earthquake that knocked Miltank off its feet.
"Miltank," Tonya yelled.
"Marowak finish it off with your Bone Club," Donny yelled.
Marowak ran up to Miltank and hit it as hard as it could a dozen times until
the Pokémon was knocked out.
"Now I will just help myself to your Pokémon," Cindy said throwing a
Pokéball at Miltank.
"No," Tonya yelled.
All of a sudden some stars came out of nowhere and knocked away the
Pokéball.
"Huh?" Donny said.
"Nidoking," Tonya yelled.
"Not this disobedient Pokémon again," Donny yelled.
"Attack," Cindy yelled.
"Nidoking look out," Tonya yelled.
Marowak and Sandslash charged Nidoking who knocked them away with
a double Mega Punch.
"Hyperbeam," Tonya yelled.
"Nido," the Pokémon yelled shooting out the attack at the two Pokémon
knocking them out.
"Wow that is on strong Pokémon," Donny said calling back his Pokémon.
"It doesn't scare me," Cindy said.
"It doesn't?" Tonya said.  "Nidoking how about another Double Mega
Punch."
"Nido," the Pokémon said hitting Team Delta away.
"Darn we lost again," Cindy yelled.
"At least we did get blown away by her Pidgeotto," Donny yelled as they
disappeared from view.
"Nido," the Pokémon said using its horn to free Tonya.
"Thanks," she said she called back Miltank.
"Nido," the Pokémon said.
"Its good to have you back old friend," Tonya said hugging her Pokémon.
"Nidoking," the Pokémon said.
"See we are a good team after all and no one is going to stop us," Tonya
said.
"Nido," the Pokémon roared as loud as it could.
Back to Karl…

"Ha ha now we get rid of you," Harvey said pulling out a bazooka.
"Wait," Karl yelled.
"Fire," Haley said.
A rope came out of the bazooka and tied up everyone except Sandshrew
who was still in a ball.
"I can't reach any of my Pokéballs," Karl said trying to grab one but his
hands were tied to his sides.
"Now I will be taking your Pokémon," Haley said.
"Sandshrew you have to help us," Karl yelled but Sandshrew still stayed in
a ball.
"Please you think that always losing Pokémon can help you," Haley said.
"You said it," Harvey said.
"No Sandshrew is not a loser," Karl yelled.  "If it wasn't for him I 
wouldn't
have won the RollarBlading Contest.  It was his Sandstorm that stop Pat and
made me win the race."
"Shrew," the Pokémon said unrolling itself.
"Yeah but it can't beat us," Harvey said.
"Maybe, but Sandshrew never gives up and neither will I," Karl yelled.
"Shrew," yelled the Pokémon, as it appeared out of nowhere it hit
Slowking with a Swift attack.
"What?" Harvey said.
"Quick cut us free," Karl yelled.
"Stop Sandshrew with Water Gun," Haley yelled.
Sandshrew dodged the attack and cut the ropes.
"Good job Sandshrew," Karl yelled.
"It may have freed you but it won't win go," Harvey said throwing a
Pokéball.
"Electabuzz," the Pokémon said.
"Sandshrew-" Karl yelled pulling out Poliwhirl Pokéball.
"No let him fight himself," Sandy said.
"Okay," Karl said.
"Mega Punch," Harvey said.
"You too Slowking," Haley yelled.
The Pokémon tired to hit Sandshrew but Sandshrew jumped up in the air
the Pokémon hit each other.
"Stop that you two," Haley said.
"Water Gun and Thunderpunch," Harvey yelled.
"Sandshrew try a Sandstorm attack," Karl yelled.
Sandshrew shot out a lot of sand from its body creating a big Sandstorm.
Electabuzz couldn't attack and neither could Slowking.
"Now Double Slash," Karl yelled.
Sandshrew Slashed both Pokémon knocking them out.
"Uh no," Harvey yelled.
"Now that Cubone has had a Super Potion use Bonemerang," Sandy
yelled.
The attack hit Team Rocket away.
"That Pokémon went from Zero to a Sandshrew hero," Harvey yelled as
the disappeared.
Back at the Pokémon Center…

"Tonya your back did you capture any Pokémon?" Karl asked.
"No," she said.
"Well Sandshrew is all better," Karl said pointing to his Pokémon.
"Shrew," the Pokémon said happily.
"Yeah thanks to me," Sandy said.
"Who is she?" Tonya asked.
"She is Sandy she trains Pokémon out in the desert," Karl said.
"Yeah…we better get going the ferry leaves at 6:00 and it is 5:30," Tonya
said looking at the clock in the Pokémon Center.
"Yeah," Karl said.
"Shrew," Sandshrew said.
"Well we have to go," Karl said walking out of the Pokémon Center.  "And
Thanks again."
"You welcome," she said waving at Karl and Tonya as they headed
towards the ferry and there next adventure in the Platinum League.
