Chapter 15 Ursaring's Revenge

"Free," Butterfree said appearing out of his Pokéball.
"Karl brought his Butterfree?" Tonya said surprised.
"Staying out of the mud, it could give you the advantage," Karl said
repeating what Tonya had said.
"Tangla Vine Whip!" Jessica yelled.
"Butterfree counter with Reflect!" Karl yelled.
Butterfree put up a reflect shield blocking the Vine Whip attack.  Then
Butterfree let out a Gust knocking Tangla over.
"Tangla get up!" Jessica yelled.
"La," the Pokémon said trying to get unstuck from the mud but the more
the weed struggled the more it sank into the mud.
"Tangla is unable to battle victory goes to Butterfree," the referee said.
"In a turn of events Butterfree has come back to delivery a stunning blow
to Jessica," the announcers said.
"Return," Jessica said calling back her Pokémon.
"Good job Butterfree," Karl said.
"Go!" Jessica said throwing Muk's Pokéball.
"MUK!" the Pokémon said.
"Now it is down to one Pokémon a piece can Butterfree pull through for its
trainer and finish off Jessica's sneaky Muk."
"I hope so," Karl whispered to himself.
"Muk hide!" Jessica yelled.
"Butterfree…try a Gust Attack!" Karl yelled.
Butterfree flapped its wings at a high speed hoping to blow the mud off
Muk but it didn't work.
"Muk use Sludge!" Jessica yelled.
Muk appeared out of the mud behind Butterfree and threw some Sludge at
him.
"Butterfree look out behind you!" Karl yelled but it was too late the Sludge
hit Butterfree in the back causing the Pokémon to fall, but before 
Butterfree hit
the Mud it turned in mid-air and shot out a Psybeam attack that hit Muk and 
sent
it flying.
"Butterfree!" Karl yelled as Butterfree hit the mud, he didn't move.
"Muk!" Jessica yelled.  Muk appeared out of the mud okay.
"Butterfree is unable to battle this round goes to Muk and Jessica!" The
referee said.
"Oh Butterfree tried its hardest to pull though for its trainer but in the 
long
run Muk's sneakiness over powered the Pokémon," the announcer said.
"Butterfree return," Karl said calling back his Pokémon.
"Poor Karl," Tonya whispered to herself.

Back at the Pokémon Karl had gotten all his Pokémon cleaned up and
was checking out Butterfree.
<I'm sorry I cost you the win Karl> the Pokémon said apologizing.
"It isn't your fault," Karl said.  "And besides I know you tried your 
hardest."
<Butterfree you haven't even been training so how could you expect to
win> Scizor said in a gruff voice.
"Scizor that wasn't nice," Karl said scolding his Pokémon.
"But it's the truth," Tonya said.
"You stay out of this!" Karl yelled at Tonya.
"I'm just pointing out the obvious," she said, " You haven't trained
Butterfree for a long time now.  How do you expect it to hold up in battle?"
"But-"
"You make a lot of amateur mistakes for someone who has been training
for a while now," Tonya said interrupting Karl,  "You got distracted when 
Scizor
was battling."
<Finally a human who see how hard I have to battle> Scizor said.
"You all back off Butterfree!" Karl said standing up and walking over to
Tonya.
"I just tell it like it is," Tonya said shrugging her shoulders.
"No you don't know!" Karl said looking very angry.  "Pokémon
battles…Pokémon in general isn't about being strong. Tonya you should know
about this you're a gym leaders daughter."
"Yeah but-"
"No listen,' Karl said interrupting her, "I don't think Pokémon battles are
only about being the most powerful.  If it were then your dad wouldn't have 
given
me this badge," Karl said taking the badge out of his pocket.  "I spent 
along time
yesterday, heck the whole night trying to figure out why your dad had given 
me
this badge.  I went through every single possibility, I even thought that he 
thinks I
like you."
"What my Dad would never…" Tonya started to say.
"Then I figured it out," Karl said.   "The day before my match in the mud
field, you said to me Tonya that staying out of the mud might give me the
advantage…and who better to stay out of the mud that Butterfree," Karl said
pointing at the butterfly, which was trying to keep up with Karl.
"So?" Tonya said.
"The point is I knew that Butterfree hadn't been trained in a long time but
that didn't bother me I knew that Butterfree would fight with all his 
heart," the
made the Pokémon perk up.  "I didn't care whether or not Butterfree was 
strong
enough I knew that with his advantage and my help he would try his hardest."
"You keep on battling like that and you will never win in the Platinum
Island competitions," and with that Tonya got up and left.
<I must agree with her> Scizor said getting up and walking away.
"Don't worry about them Butterfree," Karl said after they had left.  "All I
want is my Pokémon to be happy…you see every time I call Professor Coy and I
see you with him you look so happy.  So its you're choice you can stay and 
train
with me to get stronger, or you can go back with Professor Coy to work on 
that
cure for that Cyndaquil you told me about.  Go ahead and choose it doesn't
matter which one you pick as long as you are happy."
<Well I did like the chance to fight in that battle even though I lost > the
bug Pokémon said.  <But I still want to stay with the professor to help him 
find
that cure> Butterfree said making up his mind.
"Okay," Karl said even though he was happy that his Pokémon had made
his own decision, he was kind of hoping that the Pokémon might have wanted 
to
stay.


It was the next day Karl had transferred Butterfree back to Professor Coy
and got back Sandshrew.  He and Tonya continued on the road to the next gym
leader but little did they know that things were going to take a turn for 
the worst.
"Wait," Karl said stopping.
"What?" Tonya said looking around.
"The ground it shook," Karl said looking around.
"Oh that," Tonya said smiling.  "This area is known to have many Ursaring
Caves around here."
"Ursaring?" Karl said taking out his Pokédex and typing in the Pokémon's
name.
<Ursaring> the Pokédex said as a picture of the Pokémon appeared.
<Although it is a good climber, it prefers to snap trees with its forelegs 
and eat
fallen berries. With its ability to distinguish any aroma, it unfailingly 
finds all food
buried deep underground. >
"I don't want to have to deal with a Pokémon like that," Karl said putting
away his Pokédex.
The ground started to rumble.
"What the-" was all Tonya could say before about ten Ursarings came
bursting through the trees in front of them.
Karl looked scared while Tonya looked like a cat in a sushi bar.
"All right!" she said laughing.  "Now's my chance to capture one of this
Pokémon!" she said pulling out a Pokéball.
"Tonya we're out numbered," Karl said his voice shaking.
"You're right," she said pulling out another Pokéball.
"Are you crazy!" Karl said his voice still shaky.
One of the Ursarings let out a mighty roar the other Ursarings responded
by roaring as loud as they can.  But they weren't roaring they were charging 
up
their Hyper Beam attack.
"Wait a-" Karl said realizing what they we're doing; he looked at Tonya
who didn't seem to notice.
"Okay I choose," she started to say.
"Watch out!" Karl said diving towards her.
He hit her just as the Ursaring's unleashed their Hyper Beam attacks, they
flew into the bushes, but when they popped out the other end they started to 
roll
down the hill.
"Ahhhh!" they yelled as they fell head over "hills" for they could not stop.
They stopped rolling as the hill flattened out.
"What?" Tonya said a little shaken up.
"Uhh," Karl said rubbing his head.
"Why did you do that for?!" Tonya said irate.
"Hey I saved you're life," Karl said defending himself.
"NO you didn't!" Tonya said.
"Calm down!  Didn't you see that HyperBeam Attack that Ursaring tried to
hit you with?" Karl asked.
"HyperBeam?" Tonya said pondering this for a while.  "They know
HyperBeam!" she said but with a singsong voice.  "I must capture one!" she 
said.
"Great," Karl said sighing and leaning against a rock wall.  All of a sudden
there was a rumble as the rocks collapsed revealing a cave.
"Ursaring hide in caves right?" Tonya asked like a kid in a candy store.
"Yeah I guess," Karl said not really knowing.
"ALRIGHT!" she yelled throwing a Pokéball into the cave.
"Vul!" her Pokémon said appearing out of the Pokéball.
"Use you're Flamethrower to light this cave up!" she ordered her
Pokémon.
"Pix!" the Pokémon said unleashing a huge pillar of flames into the roof of
the cave.
Her idea worked it illuminated the cave, but all that was inside was a 
little
brown thing curled up in the corner.
" What is that?" Karl said looking at the thing.
"Pokéball Go!" Tonya yelled throwing a Pokéball at the Pokémon who was
automatically sucked into the ball, which fell on the ground and started to 
shake.
It stopped.
"Alright!" Tonya said walking up to the Pokéball and picking it up.
"Thanks Flicker," she said petting her Pokémon before recalling it.
"Do you know what that is?" I said walking into the cave.
"Yeah," Tonya said holding up the Pokéball.  "A Teddiursa."
"A Teddiursa?" Karl said taking out his Pokédex and typing in the
Pokémon's name.
The Pokédex loading the info, < Teddiursa the devolve form of Ursaring.
If it finds honey, it's crescent mark glows. It always licks its paws 
because they
are soaked with honey. Before food becomes scarce in wintertime, its habit 
is to
hoard food in many hidden locations. >
"I think that maybe we should get out of here," Karl said because he had a
feeling that the Ursaring might come back to their cave.
"Yeah," Tonya said smiling, but then her smile changed to a very scared
expression.
"What," Karl said turning around to see 5 Ursarings standing behind him.
"Uhh!!"
"RING!!!!" the leader screamed.
"Run!" Karl yelled.
"Where?" Tonya said looking around it was a dead end.
"I guess you should give them back that Ursaring," Karl said slowly
backing away from the Ursaring.
"Why should I?" Tonya said.  "I caught this Pokémon fair and square."
"Tonya! Give it back to them!" Karl said taking a stand.
"NO!  I caught this Pokémon fair and square and I'm not giving it up!" and
with that Tonya took out Flicker's Pokéball and threw it.
"Vul," the Pokémon said ready for battle.
"Flicker Flamethrower!" Tonya yelled pointing at the nearest Ursaring.
The Fire Fox unleashed a pillar of flames that hit two Ursaring, the force 
of
the attack sent the Ursarings flying back and crashing into a tree.  Two of 
the
Ursaring saw what happened and automatically attacked Flicker hoping to stop
the Pokémon.  One of them slashed at the fox Pokémon but was too slow and
Flicker was able to jump out of the way.  While she was in mid air the other
Ursaring tackled Flicker sending the Pokémon flying backwards.
"Quick use the wall to regain you're balance and attack again!" Tonya
yelled.
The Pokémon listened and used the wall to bounce off and project herself
at the Ursaring she started to spin and let out her Flamethrower that hit 
the
Ursaring knocking them into opposite walls of the cave.  The last one seeing
what happened to his friends took off running.
"Okay then lets go!" Tonya said running out of the cave and in the other
direction of the Ursaring, Karl followed after about 5 minutes of straight 
running
Tonya finally stopped.
"What…" Karl said trying to catch his breath, "were…you…doing?"
"Hey…" Tonya said stopping between breaths, "I...told…" she stopped
talking and sat down.
Karl took out a water bottle and started to drink out of it, Tonya was right
behind him with her own bottle.  After they had finished the whole bottle 
Karl had
a few words for Tonya.
"What was that back there?" Karl said putting the empty water bottle back
in his backpack.
"I was saving us that is what," Tonya said taking out Teddiursa's Pokéball.
"All you had to do was give them back their baby," Karl said.
"I caught this Pokémon fair and square-"
"Yeah, yeah I know the rest," Karl said annoyed of the line.
Karl took out his Pokéballs and rested them on the stump of a tree.  "I
think we better take a break and feed our Pokémon," he said sticking his 
head in
his backpack.
"You're right," Tonya said pulling out some Pokéchow and giving some to
Flicker, she was about to call out her other Pokémon when a big orange beam
flew over her head.  "HyperBeam!" she screamed.
"Yeah I know that is the attack that the Ursaring tried to hit you with," 
Karl
said his head still in his backpack.
"No HyperBeam," Tonya yelled as 10 Ursaring busted out of the bushes
surrounding Karl and Tonya.
"Vul!" Flicker yelled taking a battle stand.
"Karl!" Tonya yelled.
"What?!" Karl said taking his head out of his backpack to see 10 Ursarings
surrounding them.  "Bahhhaaa!" Karl yelled.
"Flicker use-"
"NO!" Karl said interrupting her, " give them back the Pokémon!"
"NO!" Tonya yelled, she was convinced that she was not getting rid of the
Pokémon.
"Fine then," Karl said realizing there was no way Tonya was going to
change her mind.  "Go-" he said reaching for one of his Pokéballs, " where 
is my
poke-" then it hit him, he looked over at the tree stump where he had placed 
his
Pokéballs and the ringleader of the Ursarings was standing over them.  You
could tell this Ursaring was the leader because he was bigger than the 
others
and he seemed to be giving out commands.
"Flicker Flamethrower one by Karl's Pokéballs!" Tonya said realizing why
Karl hadn't called on any Pokémon.
Flicker released her Flamethrower attack at the Ursaring but instead of
getting the same results as she did with the other Ursaring this one took 
the
attack and it didn't seem to hurt him.
"What?" Tonya said surprised.
"Tonya!  Try a different attack!" Karl yelled but before Tonya could even
say the attack the lead Ursaring was on top of Flicker knocking the Pokémon 
with
a Slash attack and sending it flying into a tree hard.
"FLICKER!" Tonya yelled looking at her Pokémon there was a little blood
coming out of the Pokémon mouth but you could tell that it was hurt pretty 
bad.
"I can't believe you would do that!" Karl said charging the lead Ursaring
who took this by surprised, but instead of Karl trying to hit the Pokémon he 
did a
baseball slide and kicked the stump of the tree.  His Pokéballs flew off and 
all of
them opened.
"Charmander!"
"Bulbasaur!"
"Scizor!"
"Shrew!"
"Poliwhirl!"
"Pikachu!"
"Scizor quick attack the biggest Ursaring!" Karl yelled, and Scizor did 
exactly that
tackling into the lead Ursaring.  "Sandshrew use Sandstorm on as many of 
them
as you can."  Sandshrew started to kick up a lot of sand making it hard for 
most
of the Ursarings to see but one of the Ursarings who didn't get hit with the 
attack
took out Sandshrew with a Tackle.
"Go Miltank!" Tonya said throwing two Pokéballs.
Miltank and Nidoking appeared out of there Pokéballs and started
attacking the Ursaring who where trying to get to the knocked out Flicker.
Pikachu let out an electrifying Thunderbolt attack knocking two of the
Ursarings back they took off leaving the other behind.  Scizor was having a 
hard
time with the lead Ursaring because every time he tried to over power the
Pokémon it keep fighting back.  Ursaring pulled one of Scizor's clamps out 
of his
hand and Slashed the Pokémon across the chest.
"Sciz," the Pokémon yelled in pain, the slashes and cut right through it
armor.  Ursaring took advantage of Scizor's distraction to Mega Punch the
Pokémon sending it flying.
"Scizor return!" Karl said calling back his Pokémon, Poliwhirl took his
place trying to Mega Punch the Ursaring but the Pokémon keep blocking the
attack.
"Nidoking Mega Punch them away!" Tonya yelled and that is just what the
Pokémon did knocking the last Ursarings that surrounded Flicker away.  Tonya
ran up to her fire Pokémon and took out a potion.  "Hold on," Tonya said as 
she
sprayed the Pokémon.
"Poliwhirl forget physical attacks and use Water Gun!" Karl yelled.
"WHIRL!" she yelled as she pulled away from the Ursaring and using
Water Gun but the attack didn't seem to affect the strong Pokémon.
"Quick Pikachu Thunderbolt!" Karl yelled.
"PIKACHU!" his Pokémon said unleashing a Thunderbolt attack that was
amplified with the water.  The Ursaring screamed in pain but keep walking 
closer
and closer to Pikachu.  When Pikachu saw this it increased its electricity 
but it
didn't seem the slow down Ursaring.
"Pikachu look out!" Karl yelled as the Ursaring raised its humongous paw
and slapping Pikachu across the face sending the Pokémon flying, he landed
next to Tonya.
"Pikachu?" Tonya said surprised, she turned around to see Poliwhirl and
Charmander trying to take down the Ursaring.
Charmander was on Ursarings back trying desperately to stop the
Pokémon with its Scratch attack.  Poliwhirl was in front locked hand to paw 
with
Ursaring trying to wrestle the Pokémon to the floor.
"Charmander, Poliwhirl move out of the way, Sandshrew Sandstorm!" Karl
yelled, but Karl's idea didn't work Ursaring shot out a HyperBeam attack 
cutting
through the Sandstorm and knocking out Sandshrew.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Tonya yelled.
"NIDO!" her Pokémon yelled as it unleashed a huge HyperBeam attack it
hit Ursaring and sent it flying into the bushes.
"Pikachu," Karl said running up to his fallen Pokémon.
"I gave it a potion but…" Tonya said looking at Flicker.
"Its okay let just get them to the Pokémon Center fast!" Karl said scooping
up his Pokémon.
"Char," the Pokémon said running up the Karl, Poliwhirl was carrying
Sandshrew.
"Don't worry," Karl said calmly as he started to run, Tonya and his other
Pokémon followed as they headed to the next town and the Pokémon Center will
they make it there in time?
