They also meet the Team Rocket we know and defeat them in a battle. ============================================================================ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ============================================================================ A Battle With Team Rocket Right now, our heroes are just past Mr. Pokémon's house as they continue on to Violet City, where both Kenta and Matt hope to earn the Badge there. "Big brother, I'm soooo tired..." whined Matt. "Can we take a break now?" he asked. "Sorry Matt, but you have to get used to it. Besides, we're already past the Dark Cave, and that means we're near Violet City already," replied Kenta as they continued on. Just then, they saw a Youngster on the road, and he seemed like he was expecting one of them. "Hold it right there, you two!" he said. "I can tell that you're both Pokémon Trainers, right?" he asked. "Actually, it's just one of us," interrupted Matt. "Oh, then I guess your big brother is the one, right?" the Youngster asked Matt. "Hold on a second, are you trying to challenge me to a Pokémon Battle?" asked Kenta. "Exactly," was the reply. "Fine then, I accept your challenge." They found a spot to battle in the tall grass, among the wild Pokémon that lived there. Matt was again, the referee for this match. "This will be a one-on-one match," he announced. "There are no time limits, so let the match begin!" "Rattata, I choose you!" the Youngster said. A small, purple rat came out. It had teeth that were bigger than it was, and its' tail was curled up at the end of it. At this, Kenta took out his Pokédex, or Dex as he named it. The small device turned on and told Kenta the information on Rattata. "Rattata, the Rat Pokémon," it said, as it continued on. "A very common Pokémon that bites anything it attacks." "You ready, Cyndaquil?" asked Kenta. "Cynda! Cyndaquil!" the little Pokémon replied as it jumped off his friend's shoulder and got ready for the match. The flames on its' back was up and burning brighter and hotter than normal to show Kenta that it was determined to win. The Youngster was the first one to attack. "Rattata, Focus Energy!" he commanded, as Rattata stood its' ground and tried to concentrate, and it was able to add a bit of strength in the process. Kenta was growing impatient by the second. "Cyndaquil, use your Smokescreen attack and follow up with Quick Attack!" he commanded. Cyndaquil shot out smoke from its' mouth, which covered the whole arena, leaving the Trainers out. Then, inside the smoke, Rattata lost its' concentration and tried to see what was charging right at it. Then, out of nowhere, it was hit by Cyndaquil, who, to its' surprise, missed the Rattata, which dodged at the right time. Finally, the smoke cleared and both Trainers could see that the two battling Pokémon were still standing, although the Youngster's Rattata was breathing heavily. "Cyndaquil, let's finish this with a Flamethrower attack!" commanded Kenta. This time, Cyndaquil shot out flames directly at Rattata, fainting it and leaving it "roasted." Kenta was jumping and hugging Cyndaquil after what had just happened, while Matt announced the results. Despite losing, the Youngster thanked Kenta for having the time to battle him and realizing on his own, that there are many more tough Trainers on the road, as Kenta, Cyndaquil, and Matt continued on. As they reached the guardhouse to Violet City, Matt decided to go into the tall grass, hoping that a wild Pokémon would attack him. "Hmm...guess there's nothing here..." he said to himself. Then, a wild Pokémon that looked like a flower jumped out to face Matt. It had roots for its' feet and a leaf for each arm. It was also thin and had a head that was shaped like a lightbulb, or something close to it. "Bellsprout!" it said. "Big brother!" he called out. Kenta turned around to find Matt with a wild Pokémon. He was surprised to see one. "What's that?" he asked, as he took out his PokéDex again. It turned on again as Kenta pointed its' infrared sensor at the wild Pokémon. "Bellsprout, the Flower Pokémon. This Pokémon uses its' roots to soak up needed moisture. It also ensnares small insect with its' vines and devours them," said the PokéDex. Matt didn't know what to do, since he needs a Pokémon to capture the wild Bellsprout. "Big brother, I need your Cyndaquil, quick!" shouted Matt. "Alright Cyndaquil, you do whatever Matt says only for this match, okay?" said Kenta. Cyndaquil agreed and jumped off of Kenta's shoulder and went to face the wild Bellsprout. "Thanks, big brother!" said Matt. "Alright, Cyndaquil, Tackle attack!" Cyndaquil instantly charged at Bellsprout. But Bellsprout was able to dodge the attack. Cyndaquil tried again, but the wild Pokémon dodged the attack again. "Cydnaquil, Ember attack!" commanded Matt. This time, Cyndaquil shot out flames directly at the Bellsprout. Upon contact, the wild Bellsprout was knocked out, and was burned from the attack. Matt took out a PokéBall from his bag, and got ready to throw it. "PokéBall, go!" he shouted, throwing the PokéBall at the wild Bellsprout, who was already recovering from the previous attack Cyndaquil inflicted on it. The PokéBall hit Bellsprout as it opened and sucked Bellsprout in as a streak of red light. It fell to the ground, while it was shaking from side to side, until the red light on the PokéBall's button went off. "I can't believe it!" said Matt, jumping like mad. "I caught my first Pokémon!!!" he shouted, picking up the PokéBall, while Cyndaquil went back to Kenta's arm. "Thanks a whole lot, big bro, I owe you one!" he said. "Congratulations, Matt! Now, we can have our own practice battles!" said Kenta, grinning. Meanwhile, a Meowth stuck out its' head in a bush, while 2 adults followed suit. "It's a good thing that we can go catch that twerp's Pikachu and be able to find any other Trainers that we can steal Pokémon from!" said the woman. "Hey, I think I found somebody!" said the Meowth, looking through its' own pair of binoculars. The man seized the binoculars, choking the Meowth in process. "Say, you're right! Cyndaquil sighting at twelve 'o clock!" he said to the woman. "Perfect, and I'll bet he's not like that twerp," said the woman, accidentally shaking the fake bush hard. "Uh... big brother?" asked Matt, noticing the fake bush shaking as they continued on. "What is it?" "Something's in that bush over there," he said, pointing at the fake bush. This alarmed the ones hiding in the fake bush. "Uh oh, they're onto us!!" said the man, panicking as the two brothers approached for a closer look. "Ok," said the Meowth. "On the count of three, we get that kid's Cyndaquil!" "One," said the woman. "Two," followed the man. "Three!" shouted the Meowth and at this, they leapt out of their hiding place and showed themselves to the two brothers. "Just who are you three?" asked Matt, who was just startled. "If you wanna know us," said the woman, as she continued. "Then you'll have to prepare for trouble!" "And make it double while you're at it!" said the man. "To protect the world from devestation!" "To unite all people within our nation!" "To denounce the evils of truth and love!" "To extend our reach to the stars above!" "Jessie!" "James!" And that was their names. "Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!" said Jessie. "Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!" said James. "Meowth, that's right!" said Meowth. "Wobbuffet!" shouted a blue Pokémon that held one arm on its' forehead. "Oh, get back in your ball!" she shouted at Wobbuffet. "Wob," it said quietly as it was recalled to its' PokéBall. "Okay...but really, who on earth are you guys?" asked Matt. "We already told you!" shouted Meowth. "Check this out, Matt, a talking Meowth!" said Kenta. "You guys don't even know what I went through just so I could learn to talk like a human!!" Meowth shouted again. "So," said Kenta. "What are you guys really here for?" he asked. "Why, we're here to steal your little Cyndaquil right there!" said Jessie, pointing at Cyndaquil. "You can't do that!" shouted Kenta. "Oh, yes we can!" countered James. "Cacnea, I choose you!" he said, throwing a PokéBall on the ground. A small, cactus-like Pokémon appeared in front of the two brothers. It had long arms and a little crown-like object on its' head. Kenta took out his PokéDex immediately and pointed it towards the Cacnea. "No data is found," it said. "NO DATA?!" said Kenta. "How about this one?" asked Jessie, taking out a PokéBall. "Seviper, go!" she said, throwing the PokéBall on the ground. A large, scary-looking snake appeared. It had two large fangs sticking out of its' mouth. It also had different kinds of scars and marks all over its' body. It hissed at Kenta's Cyndaquil, who got scared and curled up like a ball. Kenta pointed his PokéDex towards the Seviper this time. "No data is found." "I can't believe this!" thought Kenta. His mind was racing now. "If Dex doesn't have any data on these two, how are we supposed to defeat them?" he thought. "Trust your Cyndaquil," said a little voice in his head. "If we win, we get your Cyndaquil," said Jessie. "You're not gonna get him that easy! Bellsprout, I choose you!" said Matt, releasing the now recovered Bellsprout out of its' PokéBall. Bellsprout flexed its' thin body and shaked its' leaves. "Big bro, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" asked Matt. Kenta nodded in reply. "Cyndaquil, let's go!" he said. Then, Cyndaquil immediately jumped off Kenta's back and got ready to battle. Jessie was the first to go. "Seviper, Crunch attack!" she commanded. Seviper went straight for Cyndaquil, with its' huge jaw open, showing its' two large fangs. "Cyndaquil, dodge and use yor Flamethrower attack!" commanded Kenta. "Bellsprout, lend Cyndaquil a hand with your Stun Spore!" commanded Matt. Cyndaquil dodged the attack, while Bellsprout released spores that paralyzed Seviper, and Cyndaquil shot out flames from its' mouth towards Seviper. Seviper was knocked back and crashed into Jessie. "Cacnea, Faint Attack!" commanded James. Cacnea instantly disappeared, but appeared on the left side of the arena, only to disappear on the right side of the arena this time. "Cyndaquil, on your left!!" shouted Kenta. But it was too late, Cacnea already got to Cyndaquil and rammed it on its' side. "Cyndaquil!" "Bellsprout, Razor Leaf attack!" shouted Matt. Bellsprout shaked its' leaves again and a bunch of sharp leaves came out, headed for James' Cacnea. Cacnea was knocked back upon impact and was also KO'd. "Cacnea, return!" said James, as the cactus Pokémon was recalled back to its' PokéBall. "Thanks a lot, Matt! That attack was cool!" said Kenta. Jessie, James, and Meowth wasn't too happy that they lost the match to two kids who had slightly weaker Pokémon. "You may have won, but we still get your Cyndaquil!" said Meowth, as it pulled out an object that reached out and grabbed Cyndaquil. "Cyndaquil!" shouted Kenta. "You liars! I thought you were just gonna run away right now!" "What do you mean by, 'run away?'" laughed Jessie. "We never give up as long as we get what we came for!" she said, and the three of them laughed again, while Wobbuffet came out of its' PokéBall again. "That's it!" shouted Kenta, feeling hot with anger. "Cyndaquil, Flamethrower attack, NOW!!!" Cyndaquil flared up its' back again and pointed its' mouth at Team Rocket. It opened its' mouth and shot out flames at them, which sent them flying. "Do you think we should buy fire-proof stuff this time?" asked Jessie. "You got me, Jess, but don't forget about the old twerp's Pikachu!" said James. "Oh well, at least now, we're trying to deal with two twerps," sighed Meowth, as the three sighed together. Then, they all shouted, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!" followed by a "Wobbuffet!" "Big bro," said Matt. "Calm down! It's like you're trying to kill them or something!" "So what?!" shouted Kenta. "They almost stole Cyndaquil!!!" At this, Cyndaquil curled up like a ball. "You should be happy that they didn't actually steal Cyndaquil!!" shouted Matt in reply. Cyndaquil curled up tighter. Kenta saw what Cyndaquil was doing and he decided to stop. "Cyndaquil, I'm not saying that it's your fault," he said softly, trying to comfort him. Cyndaquil uncurled at this. "Cyndaquil?" it asked. "No, no, it's not your fault, Cyndaquil," said Kenta. "I'm just worried because Team Rocket was trying to steal you, to get you away from me, and I don't like that," he said. "Cyndaquil?" it asked again. "It's because you're my only Pokémon so far, and my first, so you're important to me," said Kenta. Cyndaquil nodded and immediately jumped on Kenta's shoulder again. And so, as Kenta and Matt continue on to Violet City, they learned one thing. It's that they need to protect their Pokémon from people like the mysterious Team Rocket. ============================================================================ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ============================================================================ Disclaimer (c) 1995 - 2003 Nintendo (c) 1995 - 2003 Creatures Inc.
