A close friend of mine was sent to the now destroyed Team Rocket base outside Goldenrod City by Lance. His mission: to delete the file that I had sent to Lance while we were working undercover to destroy Giovanni's plan.

That friend of mine, was Kenta.

Chapter 2: The Discovery

Now, I wait for a call from Kenta, when suddenly, my cellphone rang. I picked it up from my desk and pressed a button.
        "Hello?" I asked first.
"I'm in," replied a familiar voice.
"Good, you have about two hours to memorize everything in there, then permanently delete it," I replied back.
"Well, that's gonna take me more than just two hours," he said. "Can't you tell Lance to make it three hours?" he joked, and I found myself laughing quietly at this. I knew that he must've heard me, because he also let out a small laugh.
        "Kenta?"
        "Yeah?" he replied.
"I know you don't want to remember this, but it's Lance's order, and I was the one who sent this to him while I was there, so, sorry Kenta." I apologized, as I remembered what he said about not wanting to remember any of this again, as if it had never happened before.
"It's alright," he finally said, and I let out a quiet sigh of relief, making sure that Kenta didn't hear me.
"Thanks Kenta, I knew you'd understand..." I replied.
"Love you," he finally said, and I can tell that he meant it.
"Love you too, Kenta," I said.
        "Bye."
"Bye," I finally said before turning off the cellphone.
As I laid back in my chair, I tried to remember what had happened during that mission. Then, I just realized how lucky the two of us escaped that nightmare...alive...

This was my side of our story...

Kenta had just won his GlacierBadge after a hard fight against Pryce. As we got out of the Gym, we saw Lance standing in front of us. I had no idea why he was there.
Lance turned to Kenta. "Kenta," he said, "we need your help again..." he said quietly.
"What's all this about?" I asked.
Kenta simply looked at Jun'ichi, who seemed to understand what Kenta meant.
Jun'ichi looked at me. "Let's go, Marina," he said as he pulled me away from Kenta and Lance, and from that point on, I never knew what had happened next.
Jun'ichi found a clear spot, and took out a PokéBall.
"Pidgeotto, go!" he shouted as he threw the PokéBall up. The PokéBall opened and revealed his Pidgeotto.
"Jun'ichi, I want to know what is going on..." I said.
Jun'ichi said nothing. "Pidgeotto, Fly us back to New Bark Town..." he said quietly.
At this, I became mad. "Why on earth do we have to go back home?!" I thought. "Jun'ichi, will you please tell me what is going on?!" I asked furiously.
"I'm sorry, but I promised Kenta that I won't tell you anything... Until the time is right..." he said quietly.
"And when will that 'time' be?!" I asked, and I felt my anger rise, since I was concerned about Kenta.
Jun'ichi was also angry when he heard me. "Look, we can argue about this all day long, but I still won't tell you anything!" he shouted. "Now, are you going, or are you staying?" he asked angrily.
I finally realized at that point that no matter how much I push the matter, Jun'ichi won't tell me anything, so I decide to board Pidgeotto and be quiet.

As soon as we landed, I ran towards Prof. Elm's lab, hoping that he would know what is going on. I hoped that it wouldn't be the same as when two Rockets tried to capture a Raikou in our town before. I looked back and saw Jun'ichi running behind me, probably trying to stop me. I got to the door, opened it and saw Prof. Elm sitting in front of his computer.
"Prof. Elm, I want to know what is going on," I said, close to tears.
It was as if he knew what I was talking about, because he cast a grave look in his face, almost filled with sorrow. That look made me panic even more. Jun'ichi suddenly opened the door and entered.
"Professor, did you tell her anything?" asked Jun'ichi.
"No Jun'ichi, I haven't said a word," replied the professor, and at this Jun'ichi let out a sigh of relief.
"Somebody please tell me what's going on," I said, but then, the computer lit up. Prof. Elm walked over and accessed the e-mail. A screen popped up, and there was Lance, my idol (as you probably know already).
"Prof. Elm, we need to brief him of his mission. Please come over," he said, and the video turned itself off. Prof. Elm nodded and stood up.
"Jun'ichi, you know what to do," said the professor as he went out.
"Don't worry Prof. Elm, I won't say anything," Jun'ichi replied.
After the professor left, I asked Jun'ichi the same question.
"I'm sorry Marina, but now is not a good time. It would be too much for you," he said.
"I can take it, so please tell me," I said urgently.
"No," he said firmly, "I promised Kenta," he replied.
"Well can you at least tell me what it's about?" I asked.
"Sorry Marina, but no," he said, and he walked out of Prof. Elm's lab. I also went back to my house at that.

That night I tried to contact Kenta through his PokéGear, but there was no reply. I laid down on my bed, thinking what was going on. Everybody was not who they really were. Jun'ichi was for once, serious, and Prof. Elm looked like something bad was about to happen, and Kenta did not look happy when he saw Lance outside the Mahogany Gym. I decided to turn on my radio, and that's when I heard a strange recording. It said something about Team Rocket, but I decided to ignore it and find another channel, and I heard the same recording on every channel. I listened to it...

...and that how I knew part of what was going on...
