Number Three: The Recruiting Saga PART THREE When I had reached a patch of weeds, far away from the huge buildings of Viridian, I decided to let my Charmander out. “Come out!” I threw the Poke Ball to the ground and my fire type energized into view. “Char, mander!” He said happily. He ran and hugged my left leg; he had obviously known that he would be chosen soon. He showed much love and passion in knowing I was his trainer. “I’m your trainer, Charmander,” I said, “Why don’t we try to catch some Pokemon? Are you up to it?” “Mander!” He answered, jumping up and down. “Alright, I need to find a Pidgey for the Viridian gym.” We started our search. After twenty minutes, I sat down in a patch of grass to rest. “I hope we find some Pokemon soon.” I commented. “Cha.” Was the answer. Then, a rustling sound came near me. I jumped up. “What is it?” I wondered aloud. Then, I saw a Pidgey, running through the grass. “Go, Charmander! Use Ember!” I commented. Charmander shot a bunch of small patches of fire at the Pidgey. “Pitweet!” He screamed. The Pidgey flew into the air and started flapping his wings rapidly. Sand flew into Charmander’s eyes. “A Sand Attack!” I exclaimed. Charmander rubbed his eyes, sand pouring from them. “Get back in there and use Scratch!” I commanded. “Mander, man!” He bounded back up to the flying Pokemon. He reared up and scratched Pidgey on the wing. “Pidgey!” He screamed. Pidgey fell to the ground. I pulled out an empty Poke Ball and enlarged it with the white button in the middle. “I hope this works!” I cried as the Poke Ball whizzed through the air, it hit Pidgey and opened on his body. Pidgey went in. As the ball shook, Charmander and I watched intently. I had to catch this Pokemon. Then, the Poke Ball stopped shaking and made a beeping sound, showing that Pidgey was caught. “Yes!” I yelled. I ran to the ball and picked it up. “Look, Charmander.” I said. Charmander came up and looked at it. He smiled. “Come out, Pidgey.” I held the ball out. “Pidgey.” Pidgey hopped around, talking to Charmander. “Okay guys, there’s another common Pokemon around that I want to catch, “Let’s find a Rattata.” The three of us walked on to find a Rattata. I looked at my watch. It was already noon when we encountered the Rattata. “Go in, Pidgey!” I pointed at the opponent. “Ratat!” Rattata screeched. “Use Gust, Pidgey!” I commanded. After exchanging Pidgey’s Gust and Rattata’s Bite five times, Rattata fell. I threw another Poke Ball and Rattata was mine. I ate at the Pokemon Center that night and went to bed on the couch with Charmander, Pidgey, and Rattata resting in their Poke Balls. TO BE CONTINUED IN… … The Recruiting Saga PART FOUR
