Number Four: The Recruiting Saga PART FOUR CHARMANDER- whom I named Char PIDGEY- whom I named Wing RATTATA- whom I named Biter With my three Pokemon in their Poke Balls on my belt, I entered the Viridian Forest. I decided to go on to Pewter because I had heard that the gym was for advanced trainers. As I entered the huge forest, I was scared. People had told me that some people had gotten trapped in there for weeks, crazy when they were found. “I need to catch a Caterpie now.” I mumbled to myself. As I walked a little more, I saw a huge sign made of fine stone. It read: DUE TO TOO MANY TRAINERS CATCHING CATERPIES, THE BUG POKEMON, CATERPIE IS OUTLAWED TO CAPTURE. ANYONE WHO VIOLATES THIS NEW LAW WILL GO TO JAIL FOR AT LEAST 5 MONTHS AND PAY A FINE OF UP TO $4000. GOOD DAY, THE P.P.O.K. “The P.P.O.K.!” I cried. The Pokemon Protectors of Kanto were like the tree huggers of Pokemon. “I stomped my way through the forest for about another fifteen minutes, eventually finding a girl around the age of nine. “Do you want to battle?” She asked. “Sure, my Pidgey is close to evolving.” I pulled out Wing’s Poke Ball and enlarged. “Go, Wing!” I threw the ball out. “Go, Caterpie!” The girl let the green bug Pokemon out. “Caterpies are outlawed to catch!” I screamed. “Well, yesterday I heard a rumor that they would put the sign up, so I caught one before it was official.” She explained. I was so mad; I almost tore my hair out. At least it was clear the Caterpie was not trained well, she had caught it yesterday after all. “Go, Wing! Use Peck!” I commanded. My Pidgey flew forward, and stabbed Caterpie with his beak. It was all over; Caterpie fainted. “I’m sorry, that was a good battle.” I commented. “Oh, it’s okay. I need to train my Pokemon better anyway.” She ran off into the woods. “Good job, Wing.” I walked up to my Pidgey. Then, he suddenly started to glow brightly and get much bigger. “You’re evolving!” I exclaimed. Then, my Pidgey was a Pidgeotto! He now had straight red hair coming from the back of his head and his tail feathers were red and yellow. He was a lot bigger now. “Good job, Wing!” I exclaimed again. Then, Wing and I heard a buzzing noise coming from the trees behind us. “Pidgeoo.” Wing grumbled. “What is it, buddy?” I asked. This was scary. TO BE CONTINUED IN… … The Recruiting Saga PART FIVE
