Title: I Won't Forget You

Author: The Kirei Rocket

Okay, the song is "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" incase you're wondering.

"James... I mean it, get out of here, NOW!" Jessie screamed, throwing the glass she was holding to the floor. It shattered into a million pieces, and the tomato juice that was in it ran across the floor, looking like blood. "Jess? I know you've always hated me, but why are you kicking me out? Are you sure you're okay?" James asked, backing away from her. She finally had him cornered, so there was no way of getting out.

The first time ever I saw your face

I thought the sun rose in your eyes

And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave

To the night and the empty skies my love

To the night and the empty skies

"James. Listen to me. Get out of here!" she screamed. "But why Jessie? Do you hate me that much?" he asked, looking like he was about to cry. "James, It's too dangerous. In like 15 minutes, Butch should come knocking on the door, and I want you to go with him, you understand?" James nodded.

The first time ever I kissed your mouth

I felt the earth turn in my hand

Like the trembling heart of a captive bird

That was there at my command my love

That was there at my command

Jessie suddenly leaned forward and kissed him hard on the lips. "THERE! That prove that I don't hate you? I love you, James, and that's why you have to leave. Giovanni will kill you! He will kill you and Butch both if you two don't leave! Trust me, James!" James looked at her, a little shocked. "But what about you? He won't kill you and Cassidy?" he asked, not fully understanding. "No. He can't. For Miyamoto's sake, he can't. He doesn't dare lay a finger on either of us, he wouldn't," Jessie said, knowing this might arouse more odd questions. "But why not? And what do you mean for Miyamoto's sake? She's dead she can't hurt him! And what does Cassidy have to do with all of this?" Jessie sighed. "James, sit down," she ordered, shoving a chair to him, and she sat on her own. "Listen. And listen good. Miyamoto, my mother, I know you know about her. I know you know about my past and my family, but you don't know much. I have a sister. I never mentioned her before. To tell you the truth, I have a sister AND a brother. And I'm pretty sure I never mentioned my father much. Well, here's the deal, James. Cassidy is my sister, and Giovanni is our father. He wouldn't hurt us, he loved Miyamoto too much. Now just deal with this sudden shock of information, okay? And trust me when I say that I will be fine, but you will not! Butch will be here any minute now, and I know he knows just how you feel. Cassidy told him the same exact things I'm telling you now. Now go get anything you want to take with you, and normal clothes are a must, James." James swallowed hard. 'Cassidy is Jessie's sister? That explained a lot. But Giovanni is her FATHER? What the heck? Have they been playing with me? No, not Jessie. She wouldn't do that...' James thought to himself. "Yo! James! Get your ass in there and start packing, he's coming down the hall I can tell." James nodded, and ran into his room. He threw two pairs of normal clothes, and his diary. He grabbed a box with a rose carved on the lid (which was rather large and would take up a lot of room in his backpack, but he didn't care) and looked around the room. He finally found what he wanted, and stuck it in the box. He stuck the box into his backpack. Then he ran to the bathroom and grabbed a razor and a hairbrush. Then he zipped up the backpack and went back in by Jessie. "Jessie... I..." he started, but couldn't find the words. "Don't worry James, I'll be fine. And I love you too." He gave her a last kiss, and hugged her tightly. "Don't worry Jess, I won't forget you." Just then, there was a loud knock at the door. James looked out the peephole, and saw it was Butch. "I guess this is goodbye for now, James. I hope to see you again some day, and remember me," Jessie said, her face straight. But inside, James knew she was crying her heart out. He quickly kissed her on the cheek, and said, "Don't worry. I couldn't possibly forget," then walked out the door. Once he was gone, Jessie burst into tears. From in the hallway, James cringed as he heard the sound that he had never heard before. "James? Come on," Butch said, and the two left TR HQ. "I can't believe this..." James mumbled to himself as him and Butch drove off.

*****

James sat on the couch and flipped through the channels. It had been 10 years since he had last seen Jessie, and he was now 27. He had a job at a video place in Lavender Town. Suddenly, the phone rang. "Hello?" he said after he picked it up. "Hey Butch... yeah, just watching TV... YOU SAW WHO!?!?!?!?! You're kidding me!!... Where?... Oh cool! I'm going over there right now... You honestly mean she's in your house? How lucky can you get?.. Yeah I'll be right over, bye!" James just about fainted. Cassidy was at Butch's house? He hadn't seen Cassidy since that night... If only he could see Jessie again... He grabbed his car keys and speed away. Over time he and Butch became friends, probably because they were the only ones each other knew. He'd run into the Twerp Squad a few times, and they said he could join them, but he refused. When he was finally at Butch's house, he saw a strange car there. 'Must be Cassidy's...' he thought. He knocked at the door. "Come on in James," he heard Butch's voice say. He opened the door, and gasped. Cassidy looked so... different. Yet exactly the same at the same time. She was a bit taller now, and her hair looked just like it had before. Her eyes were the same purple color. But she looked totally different just the same. Maybe 10 years can do some damage to the memory of a person, he didn't know. "Hey James," she said and smiled at him. 'Why is she smiling like that?' he thought to himself. "You know, James... Jessie has really missed you... and you should have seen the way she stood up for you against the Boss... I mean, I wouldn't have ever done it... Well not offense, but you know... what I mean to say is... James, she needs you. She left like three months ago, and nobody knows where she went. She just couldn't forget about you James, not even after this many years. The only thing I found missing from her apartment was a picture, the one that was on the kitchen counter. You have to help find her," Cassidy said. "WHAT!?!?!?!?" James just about screamed. "You mean she's gone?!?! And she could get hurt or something?! What did you let her up and leave for!?" Cassidy giggled. "Geez, James, I'm just kidding. Jessie's fine. But the stuff I said about her not forgetting is true. She does need you." James eyed Cassidy. "And what's with you being so nice to me now? Did 10 years make that much of a difference on your atittude?" Cassidy rolled her eyes, but then went back to being serious. "James, I changed my 'atittude' the minute you two had to leave. You never know whatcha got untill it's gone." James believed her. She was right. "So then where is Jessie? I... I..." James' voice trailed off into a mumbling nobody could understand. "Don't worry James, you'll find out soon enough. And now it's safe for you guys. Giovanni died a few weeks ago, and now my brother has to run Team Rocket." Cassidy said. "You're brother?" James asked. "Yes, my brother, Lance." James eyed her, then walked out the door.

It was a long day at work, and James was beginning to get bored. He only had one hour left, but it was going slowly. Nobody had come in for a half hour, it was 11:30 at night for cryin' out loud. He would never understand why it was open this late... Just then, the little bell on the door jingled. He looked up. It was... it was... he couldn't believe it wasn't... butter! Hehehe, actually, to get on with this... he actually said, "Oh, hi Cassidy. Why are you here so late? Why are you here to begin with?" he asked, one he saw the familiar blonde haired girl. "I wanted to get a movie," she said flatly, and walked off to the 'humor' section. James shook his head. He would NEVER understand women. Except Jessie. If she was the same person she used to be, he'd still be able to understand her. They'd gone through so much together, in the seven years they'd known each other. He still remembered the first time it dawned on him that he loved her. It was a normal day. He was off chasing the Twerp Squad, who led them to S.S. Anne. If she hadn't stayed with him and told him she wouldnt' leave, he would have died right there, in that sinking ship. Team Twerp was so selfish. They were going to leave them to die, if it hadn't been for the s-, er, Misty. She could be nice at times, but most of the time she was a brat. "HELLLLLLLLLLO?!?! Snap outta it, James!" Cassidy yelled. "Oh, sorry Cassidy," he said, and looked at the movies. He rung them up, told Cassidy the total, and she left.

He got up early, even though he had gone to bed late. He had to get back to work, otherwise there was no other way he'd have money to live. He sleepily got ready, and hopped into his car.

***

"Ugghh... only 1 PM!" James said, still feeling a bit sleepy. Then he saw that same strange car pull up. "Cassidy must be bringing back the movies," He thought. He was right. But he just about toppled over when he saw who was with her. "Oh my god you!" Cassidy said, feeling a little guilty, since she had truthfully thought he would be at home sleeping not working again. "Cassidy? You know that man?" Jessie asked, looking at her questionably (is that a word? if it is is it spelled right? probably not). True, James had changed. But not a lot. His hair was the same length, and his eyes were the same color, but he was taller and probably looked a little different in a movie clerk's clothes than in a Team Rocket uniform. "Jessie..." Cassidy managed to spit out, but that was it. She was too afraid to tell her. "Jessica?" James asked. Then it clicked. It must have been the way he said Jessica. "J-j-james!?!? Oh my god..." she said, then burst into tears. James ran up to her and put his hands on her shoulders. It felt odd, after so many years, but it was instinct. "James," she said, wiping tears from her eyes, "It's been so long... yet you're the exact same person inside. Oh, James... I missed you so much!" she said, and flung her arms around his neck and cried into his shoulder. "Jess... its okay... please don't cry Jess..." James said, stroking her hair. Cassidy just stood there. "Uh, James? Shouldn't you be working?" she asked. "Oh screw work," James said, taking Jessie's hand and flipping the sign to 'closed' with the other. He locked the door, the looked at Jessie. "Jessie? Do you, uh, wanna come to my house or something? Maybe we can catch up..." James asked. 'God, that was dumb, James,' he thought to himself. "Sure, James... but one thing. I don't know if you want this, after all these years it could be one of the last things you'd want right away, but I just have to..." she said, and kissed him. This brought a flashback...

(from James' POV)

"Okay, Jessie, truth or dare?" Cassidy said, and grinned. Cassidy, Jessie, Rich, Kenney, Abby, Cindy, Anthony, and I were sitting in Abby and Jessie's dorm room at Pokemon Tech, playing truth or dare. "Ummm... dare," Jessie said, after some thought. Cassidy's grin became larger. "I dare you to go into the other room with Cindy. She'll blindfold you. Then one of the guys is gonna come in there, and kiss you. I'll be in there watching," she said. Jessie looked at each of us boys nervously. "Who is it going to be?" Jessie asked. Cassidy just laughed. "I can't tell you that!" Cindy grabbed Jessie's arm, and pulled her through the hall to the bathroom. Back in the living room, Cassidy whispered to the guys as Abby watched. "Okay, you guys are gonna sit in a circle. I'm going to spin around, and whoever i'm pointing to is out. The last one left has gotta kiss Jessie." All four of us nodded in agreement. Abby giggled as Cassidy started spinning around. She stopped, and opened her eyes. "Okay, Kenney, you're out," she whispered, and told Rich, Anthony, and I to switch around so she wouldn't know where they were. She spun around again, and then suddenly stopped and opened her eyes. "C-ya, Anthony!" she whispered loudly (as loud as you can go and have it still be considered a whisper). She repeated the process, and ended up getting the wall six times before her finger pointed to... Rich! Cassidy smirked. "Looks like you're the lucky one, James!" she said and led me down the hall. "Now don't talk AT ALL!" she commanded, and I just nodded. She knocked on the bathroom door. "You blindfolded, Jess?" she asked. "Yeah." Cassidy opened the door, and saw Jessie was in fact blindfolded. Cassidy nodded at me, and I approched Jessie. I was a little afraid, since Cindy and Cassidy were staring, but I was comforted a little in knowing Jessie wouldn't know it was me. I leaned forward and gave Jessie a quick kiss on the lips. "Uh uh! That won't do. Longer!" Cassidy said. I sighed silently and kissed Jessie again. She seemed somewhat tense, but after a few seconds she kissed back. "Gotta keep on going until I say stop..." Cassidy said. She must really be getting a kick out of this. Actually, it wasn't at all bad. She made us go for at least 3 minutes, until finally she said, "I guess I've tortured you two enough. You can stop." I pulled back and breathed in some much-needed air. "Come on," she said and pulled me out the door back into the living room. "Now you have all got to act like it wasn't you. Especially you James," Cassidy said. I nodded and sat down on the couch. "Hey, James? How was it?" Rich asked. I smiled at him. "Well, one thing's for sure, she's not afraid to kiss back, even though for all she knew it could have been Anthony. That would have been her worst nightmare. But, she's a great kisser!"

*~*~*~*

He snapped back to reality. "James? What were you thinking about?" Jessie asked as they both got into his car. "Hey, Jess? I'll be at Butch's place okay?" Cassidy yelled. "Alright!" Jessie yelled back, and Cassidy drove away. He never answered her. Not out of rudeness, he'd just forgotten she'd asked. They got to James's house quickly yet silently, and neither said a word until they were both sitting down. "So, James. What were you thinking about before?" she asked. "The first time we kissed..." he said, blushing a bit. "That was an awful day," Jessie said. James grinned. So she'd never found out who it was, huh? "Oh, not that day. Think about it Jessie... you didn't know it was me you were kissing..." Jessie gasped. She was pretty sure she knew what he was talking about. She began to think...

(Jessie's POV)

James, Cassidy, Abby, Cindy, Kenney, Rich, Anthony, and I were in me and Abby's Pokemon Tech dorm, playing truth or dare. "Okay, Jessie, truth or dare?" Cassidy asked with a grin. I thought for awhile. Truth? What would Cassidy ask... I knew her. She'd ask me something about who I liked, I knew it. But a Dare? Last time she dared me to put mustard in my hair. That was lame, but it didn't come out until three washes! Dare was my best bet. "Ummm... Dare," I said after awhile. Cassidy grinned. "I dare you to go into the other room with Cindy. She'll blindfold you. Then one of the guys is gonna come in there, and kiss you. I'll be in there watching," she said. I glanced at all four boys nervously. "Who is it going to be?" I asked. "I can't tell you that!" Cassidy said. Then Cindy grabbed my arm and dragged me to the bathroom. She put the blindfold on me, then we started talking. "So, who do you think it's going to be?" Cindy asked me. "With my luck, Anthony. I know Cassidy... she'll probably pick him," I said. "Actually I think she's doing something fair. Like picking someone at random. She was trying to tell me, but I wasn't listening very well..." We babbled for awhile. It sure was taking them a long time. Maybe Cassidy WAS playing it fair. Just then I heard Cassidy. "You blind folded, Jess?" she asked. "Yeah," I replied, and she came in the door. Whoever it was, it took them a bit, but finally I felt a soft and quick kiss on the lips, then whoever it was pulled back. 'That's a thing Rich would do...' I thought to myself. "Uh uh! That won't do. Longer!" Cassidy said. I heard a sigh. I couldn't tell who it was though. They kissed me again. At first I kinda froze up, but after a little while I kissed back. 'Nah, this ain't Rich... he could never be THIS good of a kisser...' I said to myself. "Gotta keep on going until I say stop..." Cassidy said. That brat made us go at it for 3 minutes! Finally, she said, "I guess I've tortured you two enough. You can stop." Whoever it was pulled back and took in a long breath of air. I did the same, except not so dramatically. "Come on," Cassidy said, and pulled whoever it was out of the room. Cindy giggled. "I don't see what's so funny!" I said and gave her an irritated look. "Well, was he a good kisser?" she asked. There was no use lying. "Well, yes..." I said, hoping and praying that hadn't been Anthony.

*~*~*~*

"You!" Jessie said aloud. "It was YOU who kissed me in my and Abby's dorm! I should have known!" James blushed a little again and smiled. "Yeah, Cindy told me you said I was a good kisser. Though nobody has been able to prove you right or wrong." Jessie's eyes went wide. "You've never kissed anyone else but me in your intire life? So you mean that was like your first kiss?" she asked. James nodded and blushed (once again) in embarassment. "Oh, I didn't mean to embarass you... it was my first time too. This other guy kissed me once, but I never kissed back." They talked and talked about thier lives, and before they knew it, it was already 9 PM, and they hadn't even eaten. "I don't know about you James, but I'm tired, and I have no way of getting home tonight," Jessie said and looked at him, grinning. "Yes, you can stay here tonight... and I'm tired too... I hope it doensn't matter to you but I only have one bed," James said. "Oh I don't care... but I'll have to sleep in my clothes." James shook his head. "No you don't. Come here." James dragged her up the stairs and into his room and shut the door. "You can sit down on the bed." Jessie sat down and watched James. He opened his closet, and rummaged around a bit. Finally, he pulled out a box. A box with a rose carved into it. Jessie gasped. "I remember that box..." she said. He opened it to reveal a long, red nightgown. "I remember that nightgown! I thought I'd lost it... wait a minute, why do YOU have it?" she asked. "The day I left, I knew I had to bring something to remind me of you. The only thing of yours that was in my room was this, since the only laundry basket was in my room. It hasn't been washed, but I couldn't wash it... I took it because it smelled sweet, like you. Then I put it in the box." Jessie smiled. She took the nightgown. "It'll be okay not washed. I'm surprised at you, James, it's not even moth eaten or anything. It looks exactly like it did the last time I wore it. Do you mind if I take a shower?" James shook his head. "No, go right ahead. The towels are in the cabnet."

***

When Jessie came back, James was already asleep. She smiled, remembering how she'd always watch him sleep while they were out camping while chasing that boy and his Pikachu. She sliped under the covers next to him and put her arm around him. He recognized the gentle touch and rolled over to face her.

The first time ever I lay with you

And felt your heart beat close to mine

I thought our joy would fill the earth

And would last 'till the end of time my love

And would last 'till the end of time

***

When Jessie woke up, she almost forgot where she was. She looked around the room, when finally she saw James. She smiled and kissed him on the forehead. "I'm going to show YOU that even *I* can cook now," she whispered, and went downstairs.

***

When James woke up, he was hardly surprised to find Jessie not there, since it was already almost 9. He got up and went downstairs. "Oh, hi James," Jessie said, not even looking up from the pancakes she was cooking. "Hi Jess... I didn't know you could cook!" he said. "It smells delicious." Jessie rolled her eyes. "Its hard not to learn how to cook when you're living by yourself." James laughed. "Yeah, I guess you're right," he said, and sat down for a cup of coffee. "Hey Jess?" "Yeah, James?" "Whatever happened to the furball?" Jessie giggled slightly. "WHAT?" James asked. "I never knew you cared so much about Meowth, that's all. And right now I'm sure he's curled up on my couch, sleeping, and wondering why I didn't come home last night," she said and giggled again. "Really? He's living with you?" Jessie nodded. "I should probably call him. Can I?" she asked. "Of course. I'll finish breakfast."

***

Jessie and James sat, eating breakfast in silence. Jessie hadn't gotten through to Meowth, so she just sat down to eat. She began to think about a day many many years ago...

*~*~*~*

Jessie's POV

I stepped off the bus and through the gate of Pokemon Tech. 'This is gonna be one hell of a year,' I thought to myself as I walked closer to the doors. It was then when I noticed a group of boys in a circle. I decided to see what they were up to, so I moved closer. "Hey pretty boy!" one of the boys taunted. She looked into the circle, and saw a boy, about her age, curled up in defense, as the boys were kicking and shouting at him. He had his hands over his head. "Hey, why don't you guys knock it off? What did he do to you?" I yelled, not knowing if he did anything or not. "Oh, you gonna make us? Pathetic girls!" the one who seemed to be the 'leader' yelled. So then half of the boys ganged up on me. I fought them off as well as I could, but it was no use. "Brad! What do you think you're doing?! Neither one of them did anything to you, so leave them alone!" I heard another boy call. "Oh yeah, Rich? What are you going to do about it? This girl right here tried to stop me, and look what happened to her! Ha!" Brad said, feeling very sure of himself. I looked up, and saw a boy, which had been the one talking before, another boy, and two girls. Boy, did this Rich boy and his friends kick butt! Soon Brad and his little friends left. I got up, not injured very much, and looked at the four who had just saved my butt. "Uh... thanks..." I said, brushing some dirt off my pants. "It's no problem. Brad and his gang are a bunch of jerks. My name is Rich, and these are my friends, Kenney, Cindy, and Cassidy." "Cassidy?!?!" I just about screamed. "Jess? Is that you?" Cassidy asked. "God, I thought I'd never see you again Cassidy," I said, my eyes wide. "Me too..." "Well, we'll get back to this later, I'm gonna check out this boy, he doesn't look so good," I said and walked over to him.

The first time ever I saw your face

I thought the sun rose in your eyes

And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave

To the night and the empty skies my love

To the night and the empty skies

I kneeled down and shook him. "Hey, dude, you alright?" I asked. "Huh? Wha?" he said, and looked up at me. I swear I almost fainted. Those eyes, those bright green eyes. Once he regained his thoughts and is posture, he looked at me and held out his hand. I took it and shook. "My name is James. Thanks for standing up for me, nobody has ever done that for me before," he said. I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. Nobody ever stood up for him? How mean! "Oh, my name is Jessie. And about that, no problem. You'll forget about it after a while. It don't matter."

Then, awhile later, we went to our dorms. I shared mine with a girl named Abby. She was very nice, and I liked her almost imediatly. James stopped over with his roommate, Anthony. That was-

*~*~*~*

Jessie was bumped out of my daydream by James' voice. "Hey, Jess?" he asked. "Yeah?" "You remember the day we met, right?" "Of course I do, silly." "Well, about standing up for me... I haven't forgotten," James said, as he put the breakfast dishes in the sink. "I realized you wouldn't the day you left... remember your promise then?" Jessie asked. "Yes. I told you I wouldn't forget you, and it's true. There was not one day that passed I didn't wonder where you were and if you were okay." Jessie smiled. "Don't worry, you'll never have to worry about forgetting me again," she said and kissed him on the cheek.
