Disclaimer: I don't own pokemon. Happy? Here we go!

“Oh my!” Nurse Joy exclaimed. “How did you get your hands on such an wounded pokemon???” Mai explained what happened as she handed Joy the Eevee and four other pokeballs. Joy rushed to the back room and started healing the pokemon. Mai went back to the waiting room, which was now packed with trainers. Kimori was telling everyone, including Mamo, about what happened last night. She mainly talked about the pokemon they received and had let Radiance and Sparker out of their pokeballs. The two Evante cried happily and danced around. Mai got behind the counter and started to help Chansey with some trainers. After three hours of waiting on trainers and cleaning the whole pokemon center, Joy finally came back. “Mai, please come with me, I need to tell you the report on Eevee and the other pokemon.” Mai followed Joy into the other room. “Eevee has suffered a lot of damage in the hands of the trainer you tried to save it from. We all tried our best to heal her, but I’m afraid that she might not make it through the night. I hope everyone in the center prays for her. The good news is that the trainer hasn’t abused the other pokemon. All four of them are fine. I’ll also give you permission to keep them if you promise that you will treat them well. If you want, you can stay with Eevee tonight. I have a feeling that she wants to see you.” Joy talked on and on, and then thanked everyone for helping with the trainers and the cleaning. “I promise I’ll take good care of them.” Mai said as she took the pokeballs out of Joy’s hands. Mai decided to stay with Eevee that night. The gang played a few rounds of poker with their pokemon included. Mamo talks of his dreams to be the best pokemon breeder in the world. “I only have a Bellosom, Teddiursa, Scarmory, and Delibird. I’m a trainer too, but normally I try not to battle. It’s too harsh. My pokemons’ levels range from 14-36, so I probably would’ve lost if I battled you.” Mamo was talking to Mai with enthusiasm. Before they knew it, it was 8:37p.m, and time to get ready for bed. Mai went into Eevee’s room to stay with her. Mamo and Kimori talked about pokemon before nodding off to sleep.

Mai walked into Eevee’s room and sat down near eevee’s bed. “Poor darling… I’m so sorry that you were hurt, and I hope you stay alive. If not for me, than please do it for your self. If you get well, I’ll sign and adopt you and you could live with me and the others!” Eevee stirred and flickered her eyelids up a little at the mention of a new home. She didn’t want to get too wound up because she didn’t know if she could trust Mai. But something in her little beating heart knew she could. “If you want Eevee, I could take out Star Gazer and Vaporeon. They’re the ones who helped you to safety.” Mai smiled as eevee nodded her head ever so slightly. As if on cue, both eevee evolutions popped out of their personal pokeballs. Star Gazer hopped up onto Mai’s lap and Vaporeon sat by her leg. They looked like housecats. It was a sight to see. Each of the evolutions told Eevee what a great trainer Mai was and that she could trust her, and that might have been the spark that lighted the fire of Mai and Eevee’s undying friendship…

Rest at the center was not easy that night. For one thing, Mai kept having the sudden fears of eevee dying in her sleep, although eevee was making incredible progress. Wild pokemon and trainers were seemingly nocturnal, and were making some noise in the considerable stillness of the room. Mamo was anxious about eevee’s well being, and read all the medical books that he could find to do something to help. Kimori played solitaire on her cell phone until it seemed like she was a mastermind. Then she sang quietly…. “Oh, I know a song that will get on your nerves, get on your nerves, get on your nerves, I know a –  “Oh SHUT UP ALL READY, KIMORI! Frankly, how do you expect anyone to get better with you singing that DIM-WITTED song? It goes like this anyway… I know a song that gets on EVERYBODY’S nerves…” Mamo retorted after he had obviously gotten annoyed. Kimori sent out Star to get some exercise. “Well…. Grumble… grumble…” But you couldn’t take notice of the rest of what Kimori said, as it was muffled be the sound of Star stretching her limbs. Finally, at 2:30a.m, the two who had to split a room slept. Mai was STILL awake, but she was slowly falling asleep as well.

   The next morning…

Kimori dancing in front of the T.V woke Mamo up that morning. She was dancing to a dance video with all of her pokemon in a line. Mamo stared at her. ‘ She may be annoying, but she sure is pretty… ’ Mamo thought quietly as he stared at the pretty girl with the brown hair in front of him. ‘ Her pokemon are cute too… I wonder what she feeds them. Maybe I could get some tips… Those Evante are pretty rare. I wonder if they evolve or if I’ll ever capture one… ’ Mamo let his Bellosom out to dance. Bellosom cried happily. “Bella bell!” “Mamo, I didn’t realize you were up! I would’ve invited you to dance with us.” Kimori looked a little embarrassed to be caught dancing by Mamo. After all, she kind of had a little crush on him… ‘Man! Why’d I have to get caught dancing!’ Kimori returns all of her tired pokemon to rest. (Spike, Radiance, Sparker, Star, Rattata, and Pidgiotto) “Kimori, I sing; I don’t dance. But you’re pretty good! Your pokemon are too. Where’d ya learn to dance like that?” “Oh, thanks! I learned to dance like that because my father is Rudy, a dancing gym leader of the Orange Islands. So you can say I’ve grown up around dancing and pokemon my early life. I moved into a pokemon boarding school to study everything basic about pokemon when I was 9 years old and not able to start my journey yet. That’s when I met Mai. She was always quiet my first year there, and I found out that it was because her mother had been sick a lot. One day, I came up to her and asked what was wrong with her mom. This was when we were both 12. We had been okay friends, but we still didn’t know each other well yet. She started crying and told me that her mother had cancer.  We have been best friends ever since. She had to stay at the school a few more years because she didn’t want to leave her mom all alone. I stayed with her because she said I was her only real friend and that she had been getting abused by some of the other students. When we turned 14, we finally started our journey because her mother was better. Now, here we are.” Kimori had spoken probably the longest amount of time to Mamo since she first met him. “Wow, I never knew…” Mamo replied.

Mai fell asleep petting eevee. She felt eevee’s chest rising up and down in her hand. A few hours later, Nurse joy came in to make her morning rounds. She checked eevee’s pulse and was relieved when it was pretty much normal. “Well, it looks like you may have a new home after all, eevee…”
