The next morning, Meeshe headed back to the Nursery, and met Toby. He was a
tall, skinny guy, with
brown hair and freckles.
He smiled at her when she came in. "Can I help you?" he asked. Meeshe
nodded.
"My name is Meeshe Darkflame. Professor Maple said someone name Toby would
be showing me
around." Meeshe said, trailing off.
"Ah, I see. Well, I'm Toby. Follow me, the other applicants are in the
Hatchery." Toby said, walking down
a hallway to the right. Meeshe scrambled after him, eager to get this over
with.
At the end of the hall, was a door with the label:
ES Egg Project
Hatchery
As they entered, Meeshe felt a draft of warm air flow over her. Meeshe
closed the door behind her and
looked around. There were shelves all along the walls, and each held a large
Pokemon egg with a heat lamp
above it. A glass door in front of each egg had a lock on it, and insured
that most of the heat stayed in with
the egg.
"You take care of the eggs in the blue section." Toby said, pointing out a
line of about 7 eggs, each with a
piece of blue tape placed next to the eggs' stats.
"There are 5 other candidates. They each have their own 7 eggs to take care
of. I suggest you get to know
and get along with them, you will be working together as a team for a
while."
Meeshe saw a group of 5 other people her age, standing around awkwardly. Two
were girls, 3 guys.
The first of the girls was the pretty, popular sort. She had shoulder-length
blond hair, and blue eyes. She
was trying to talk to one of the guys, who was standing next to her. He had
dark brown hair and eyes,
freckles, was tall, muscular, and very cute. He didn't seem very interested
in talking to her.
The other girl seemed quiet, shy. She was cute, with short, tawny brown
hair, and green eyes.
The other two guys were twins, with blond hair, green eyes, and also cute.
Meeshe nodded to Toby, and walked up to the others. The preppy girl shut up
instantly, and looked me
over. So did the three guys. Meeshe smiled and nodded to them.
"Hi. I'm Meisha, Meeshe for short."
The twins introduced themselves as Aaron and Connor. The prep was Trisha
(Trish for short), and the guy
she had been talking to was Damian. The other girl was Joy.
Trish snorted. "What kind of a name is Meisha?" she asked, quite
rudely.
"I dunno, what kind of name is Trisha?" I asked, just as rudely. She looked
speechless as I made my reply.
She must be some kind of dumb blonde. She glared at me, and I smiled in my
smart aleck way. Toby
walked up, seeing that the attitude wasn't friendly.
"Okay then. Here's some lists of chores that you must do each day to take
care of your egg. You may each
have on to tape in your section until you have the list memorized." Toby
said, handing out the lists. They
were each personalized bye color and by what kind of pokemon we each had. It
seemed that each of us had
3 unique pokemon, and 4 that were the same, for experimenting.
Out of the six colors, each of us was assigned our own.
Trish was read, Connor was orange, Aaron was yellow, Damian was green, and
Joy was purple. I was blue,
of course.
We weren't ordered up in the order of colors of the rainbow though. Trish
had the first 7 eggs on the shelf.
Aaron had 2nd, I had 3rd, Damian had 4th, Joy 5th, and Connor 6th.
I was ecstatic with my position. I got to be in between two cute
guys.
We went to check out our eggs.
We each had eggs that were supposed to hatch into Raticate, Raichu, Seadra,
and Houndoom. Then we
each got three unique pokemon. I got Persian, Ninetails, and Arcanine. I
can't wait until they hatch!
I visited with the others, and found out what they each had. Joy had
Dugtrio, Golduck, and Hypno. She
loved them all, and couldn't wait for them to hatch either.
Connor had all water pokemon, just as he had hoped. Tentacruel, Starmie, and
Gyrados were his.
Aaron had two water/ice types, but he was a little disappointed about his
third. He had Dewgong, Cloyster,
and Marowak.
I went to see what Damian had, and he was talking to Trish again. Or rather,
she was talking to him. He
gladly showed me his, and proudly. All pokemon that could slash, I thought,
as I looked at the eggs that
held Sandslash, Dodrio, and Kabutops.
Trish showed me hers, though I was very reluctant. She had Rapidash,
Wigglytuff, and Slowbro. All would
probably be very cute, at least, when they first hatched. I went back to my
own eggs and rubbed their
smooth sides. We would have such fun.
