The Darkness And The Dragon The Texas Journey Written By: L.A.Noyola Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon, but I do own Anthony, Lana, and all the attacks that I made up. Chapter One Disaster Strikes It was late in the night, clouds the color of midnight black moved every which way. The wind angrily blew through the air, and yet this is how it always was in the little town of Harlingen, Texas. A girl with dark brown hair a little over shoulder-length and dark brown, almost black, eyes stood in this terrible weather. Her hands were in the pockets of her dark blue jeans; she also wore a black sleeveless with a leather jacket over that. Her eyes were narrow with hatred and sorrow as she stared into the Black Forest. A small growl came from her side; she looked down to see a large animal with black skin, but whitish- grayish fur. It had blue eyes, and a large black horn on the side of its head. The girl just slightly grinned, but it didn't reach her darkened eyes. Those almost black hues of her's closed as she began to speak. "Let's go, Abby. We're leaving so we can begin our journey…" The Pokemon beside her nodded with a smirk as they walked into the Black Forest ahead. The clouds began to clear up, and the moonlight shined upon the two as if saying good luck. ~*~*~*~*~*~ "Aw no… I wish he would've given me some directions before I left…" a boy spoke, looking down at the map he held. "What do you think, Sala?" He looked down to the purple colored Dragon he rode; they were flying through the air. It roared in reply, and the boy just laughed. He looked back to the map and looked down at the ground, dark green trees everywhere. "Sheesh, all there is around here is trees! Aw well, let's go down so we can make camp." After hearing another roar from the Dragon Pokemon he rode, they slowly began to descend toward the ground. It was kind of a bumpy experience considering there were no clearings and they had to go through a few tall trees just to get to the ground. Sala the Salamence suddenly stopped as they were falling through the many branches of a tree. The boy, however, just continued to fall and landed on his back when he got to the ground. "Owwww…" was all he could manage to say. Sala flew down to its trainer, softly landing at his side and looking at him with a sweatdrop. It turned its head to a bunch of bushes and hissed. It's trainer slowly sat up and looked to where Sala was hissing. The bushes were moving, and he didn't want to take a chance of doing something stupid. "Sala… Headbutt…" he whispered, staring at the bush and gulping. Sala roared and flew at the bush, ramming against it with all its might. A girl that looked about the age of 12 flew out of it and into a tree, a black and white dog with a horn flying out with her. The boy blinked and got up, cracking his back while doing so. He looked at the girl, walking up to her and laughing nervously. "S-Sorry about that… I didn't-" the boy began. "Watch Where Your Pokemon Headbutts!!" the girl yelled with anger. The boy had held out a hand to help her up, but she just slapped it away, helping herself up. She dusted herself off and looked back to the boy with a glare. "If it's a battle ya want, then ya got one!!" The boy backed away and got to his Salamence's side. He grinned nervously, and looked to his Pokemon. "Ya wanna?" Sala nodded, growling and glaring at the girl all the while. The boy smiled and looked to the girl. "Let's get started!" The girl smirked and nodded, looking to her Pokemon. "Get out there, Abby!" Abby the Absol nodded, running in front of her trainer. The boy pointed to the front of him and Sala the Salamence got in position. After a crackling sound was heard, the battle began. "Abby! End This Right Now! Disaster Strike!!" the girl commanded, pointing to Sala. Abby smirked, her horn glowing pitch black. She ran towards Sala, and then slashed at him before she was even close enough. Yet that didn't stop the attack, it was like a huge, black beam that didn't end! Sala got hit by the attack and was engulfed by the darkness. "NO!! SALA!!" the boy yelled, taking a running step towards Sala. But then he remembered, if he were to get too close, the attack would hit him as well! He growled to himself, then yelled. "Flamethrower!!" Sala's tightly closed eyes slowly began to open; he opened his mouth and sent a Flamethrower attack at Abby. The attack didn't leave the darkness of Abby's Disaster Strike for a moment, but it eventually went right through. Abby dodged by jumping over it, continuing to use Disaster Strike. It was getting harder for her to stay on her feet; she was using enough power as it was. "Keep Attacking, Abby!!" the girl yelled, her usually dark brown eyes turning pure black. By now, the wind began to blow harder and more angrily than before. The girl's hair was flying in every direction, and Abby slowly nodded, the dark beam growing more powerful as she yelled. "NO!!!" the boy yelled again, watching as Sala began to roar in pain. "STOP!! STOP!! PLEASE, STOP!!! I GIVE UP!!!" The girl smirked, looking to Abby. Abby nodded and stopped the attack, falling to the ground, but getting up again. Sala fell to the ground, his trainer ran to his side. "Sala… Are you OK?" the trainer asked worriedly. Sala slowly raised his head and grinned with a nod. He would be OK, nothing a Max Potion couldn't cure. The girl stared at them, eyes turning back to normal dark brown. Her eyes were still narrowed, but she approached the other trainer and held something out to him. The male trainer looked at what she held out, it was a Full Restore. He looked up to the girl's face and smiled, taking to Full Restore and spraying some all over his Dragon Pokemon. As he did this, he took a slight glance at the girl beside him; she was grinning. After finishing with Sala, the trainer looked to the girl and smiled again. He got up and held out hand. "Thanks, it was a great battle. I'm Anthony Dra-" he began, then stopped. 'I better not tell her my last name… She's obviously from Harlingen…' "Umm… Just call me Anthony…" The girl smiled back, but it didn't quite reach her narrowed eyes. She took his hand and shook it. "It really was a nice match. I'm Laur- … I mean Lana… Everybody calls me Lana." She spoke, looking at the boys face. 'Hmm… He looks familiar… Aw well, I'll just have to hang around with him for a while…' "Hey Anthony… I was wonderin'… Could Abby and I travel with you?" The boy blinked, but grinned and nodded. "Sure, why not? I'm sure it'll be fun to have a companion other than Sala for once." A growl came from the Dragon beside him, making him laugh. "Oh, I'm sure of it… It'll definitely be… Fun…" Lana spoke, smirking. 'We'll see what you've got once we get to Lorianne's place.' To Be Continued...
