Tails of an Eevee
Night had fallen not to long ago, and every window in the small town was darkened. A light breeze blew through the trees, rustling their leaves and adding onto the soft night sounds. This place is known as Pallet Town, where that young Ash Ketchum began his journey with his first pokemon, Pikachu. But, you have to forget all of that, forget everything that you know about his adventures, because somethings changing. Tonight, the night before it all began, while Ash lies in his bed, dreaming about what fabulous pokemon he will receive from Proffesor Oak the next day, an event is about to happen that will change so many things about his future, and the future of everyone else. The full moon hanging above is covered by a dark cloud, just as the wind picks up to the speed rivalling that of a whirlwind. Only, it doesn`t swirl around and around, but keeps going straight on through, winding past buildings and whipping through trees. A quiet humming begins, growing louder and louder with each passing second. In the backyard of our famous traveller, a small star of light shimmers into existence, also growing. Then the packet of light burst, sending a blinding flash across the land. And then it was gone. The stars were covered with rain-soaked clouds, and no other light came from anything else. The humming had ceased and the forest sounds had not yet returned. Only silence and darkness greeted two light thumps and a much heavier one. There was a groan and then silence. Once more the humming started up, and the light once more began to grow from nothing. Huddled on the dewy grass below the bulb of light, a black, hooded form shivers before shooting upright and leaping towards the star. "Celebi, wait! Why`d you do this?" a feminine voice cries, black gloved hands reaching towards the light as her momentum carries her forward. But the flash of light comes again, and then darkness once more accompanies the thump of her fall. She groans, standing again, but more carefully. Her black cloak flys back against the still gusting wind and her hood falls behind her. Her hand quickly grabs it and pulls the black hood over her head, shrouding her face in shadows as the moon and starlight is once more revealed. The wind dies down as well, and she crouches, lifting two small pokeballs and placing them in some hidden pocket within her cloak. When she stands again, she takes in stock of her surroundings. No one seems to have noticed that strange scene, for all the windows are still dark, but she can`t be sure. Her eyes scan the ground as she turns to look into the forest behind her and a small smile lights her face before fading. She had spotted a small puddle, recently fed by the rain that would soon be coming again. She cast a wary glance at her image as she neared it, a smile of gratitude once more gracing her face when she sees that none of her outfit has been disturbed. Her knee-length black boots are only slightly scruffed up, but still fine for traveling. Her hood rests neatly in place on her head, only allowing the sight of her large violet eyes to shine past the shadows. Her gloves slide easily under her long sleeved shirt and her black pants easily cover the tops of her boots. Her cloak hangs behind her, fastened at her neck with a small silver clasp. With a glance over her shoulder, she sighs. Still no one. Her right hand slips into her cloak and pulls out one of her pokeballs, painted with black paint. She enlarges it and releases a small eevee before putting it back in its hidden pocket. "Come, little one, we have to find somewhere to rest tonight. We can find out what happened in the morning." she whispers, leaning down to pick up the brown pokemon. Then she straightens up and looks around once more. Walking towards a well-worn path, she takes in the whole of the small town. What had Celebi down to her? And why her? Were`nt there plenty of other pokemon trainers to send back in time? She grimanced at her own question. No, there weren`t many trainers anymore. Except for those that worked for THEM. She shivered again, but it was not from the cold night air. She didn`t even know what she was supposed to do. The time traveling pokemon had just popped up beside her as she walked and transported her here. First things first, she would have to find somewhere to sleep. The building nearest to her looked kind and warm, and nothing like what she was used to seeing. But then, that was a good thing. Well, why not try? "What do you think, Ears?" she asked, looking down at the bundle of fur in her arms. Deep brown eyes met her own before flicking towards the house. Then the eevee looked back at her, nodding and letting out an excited, but wary, "Eevee eev!" Smiling at her friend`s words, she nodded and walked slowly towards the front door. She rang the doorbell once, then twice, and finally a third time before a sleepy-eyed woman greeted her. "Now who could be ringing the doorbell at this hour?" the woman said, obviously to herself, before she took in the sight in front of her. A young girl in all black, with a black cloak and hood, and deep, violet eyes. Then she noticed the eevee in the others arms and the deep brown eyes melted her heart. "Oh my, what is such a young thing like you doing out in the cold? Forgive me, I am Delia Ketchum, please come in and introduce yourself. You are welcome to stay the night, there is a guest room just down the hall." she said, ushering the cloaked figure inside. At first wary of this woman`s kindness, the young girl didn`t reply, but she couldn`t help stepping inside with the older Delia`s urging. "I am Eliza, Eliza Thorn. This is Ears, my eevee, and I was simply looking for a place to stay the night. Thank you so much for you hospitality, I know many people who would have shut their door in my face if I showed up at this hour and they`re my good friends." she answered, letting the brown fluff-ball leap from her arms to the floor. The eevee then preceded to squeeze in and out of the woman`s legs in a figure-eight, rubbing her thick coat against her legs. "Awww, such a cute creature. Of course you can spend the night. Like I said, there is a spare quest room down the hall, and the bath room is right beside it. You can sleep in as long as you like too. Don`t worry, I don`t mind. I have a young boy, your age, and heaven forbide would I want anyone to do anything else if he were without a place to sleep at night." Delia replied, guiding the young girl through the halls to the room she would be able to sleep in and the bath room that was, as she had said, right beside it. "Thank you so much. I am sorry that I woke you this late, and I`ll be fine now that you`ve shown me around. Don`t let me keep you up any longer." Eliza finished, smiling so that she was sure it would be seen even from beneath the shadows that covered her face. Delia wished her good night and wandered away to her own room and Eliza slipped into the bath room, with her eevee following her and crling up at the base of the door. After closing the door and making sure it was locked tight, she sighed in relief. Finding a place to sleep had been much easier than she had thought it would be, and now she could take all this bothersome stuff off. Unlatching her cloak, she lifted her hood from her head and let it fall to the floor. Then she slipped off her boots and the black socks beneath them. Next came her gloves, followed by her long sleeved shirt and her long pants. Beneath these she wore a black tank top and a comfy pair of shorts, but she would never wear these in public. The reason greeted her once again as she turned to look herself over in the mirror. Her eyes weren`t the only unusal thing about her, and that was plain now. Her body was slim, but that was normal. What wasn`t was her agility and speed that n other human had, and that fact that her body was covered in fine lavender-pink fur. And behind her hung a long tail hanging right around her ankles, which happened to be forked at the last couple inches. Where normal, human ears should be, there were large pink ears, shaped much like a cat`s or a dog`s, the interior of these being a light blue. Right below her ears were these feather-like things that often acted like whiskers. And right there, between her violet eyes, was a glistening red jewel. Of course, she was obviously human, just as she obviosly wasn`t. The frame of her body was pretty much the same as it always had been, but leaner, more agile, and more graceful. Her face was the same as a human`s, except for the fur, eyes, and stone. But then she also had long, curly blonde hair, now wrapped up behind her in a ponytail, but capable of easily reaching past her shoulders and halfway down to her waist. This was one of the things that had stayed the same from her human form. It was one thing that she cherished and cared for, even when supplies were low and the danger of being caught or recognized was great, she would not forsake her golden locks. "Eevee eevee eev... ee!" Ears barked impatiently, breaking into the young girl`s revere. To anyone else that was all that would be heard, but, being trainer, close friend, and part pokemon herself, Eliza heard her friend as if she was speaking like you and I can. "Oh alright, Ears. I`ll stop looking at myself and get this suffacting stuff back on so that you can sleep in a real bed for once." she answered, laughing. She undid her hair and let it fall, closing her eyes for a brief moment as she relaxed in her safe haven. But all that was shattered as someone first tried to twist the handle and barge in before pounding on the door. "Hurry up! I`ve got to go!" a young voice called. Eliza could easily tell that it was a boy, and that he meant what he was saying. These things would have been evident even to someone without her sensitive ears. "Just a second, I`ll be right out." she called in reply, grabbing up her clothes and wrapping her hood around her. The clasp was fastened with practised ease and speed and the hood was donned beore she unlocked the door and swung it open. She then had to dodge to the side as a dark-haired boy rushed past her and her eevee. Stepping out of the door just as it slammed shut, she sighed and hurried into her room for the night. That was close. What if he had seen? Maybe he had! But then again, maybe he was to preoccupied to notice the strange color of her arms or legs or maybe even her face. But then she had had her cloak on at least. That, coupled with it being dark in the hall, would have kept her cover from him. She sighed and slumped against the door, her hand searching for the handle and locking it before she stepped away. Ears pawed at her leg and she kneeled, rubbing her hand over the small brown head and scratching softly behind the eevee`s large ears. A smile split both of their faces, trainer and pokemon alike before Eliza stood and wandered over to the bed. "Come one, let`s get some sleep." she suggested, sitting down and patting a spot beside her. The brown-furred pokemon leapt up beside her, instantly curling up and letting out a contented yawn. Still smiling, the young girl lay down beside her, pulling up the sheet, but not the comforter, to lay over her as she curled up too. Even as she drifted off to sleep, the thoughts of the young boy having seen that she wasn`t human persisted, but she finally managed to push them off and delve into her dreams. Perhaps her psychic powers from being part espeon were trying to tell her something, or perhaps it was just a human worry. Either way, she would find out in the morning.
