Prologue: A young girl named Katie has no friends in her new school in Chicago, Illinois. Nobody even attempts to accept her. The only time she feels good is at home when she’s playing her pokemon games. Then, something happens to the world that changes Katie’s life forever. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Part One Katie was an 11 year old who had always loved pokemon since it had come out. Now, pokemon was out of style. Since she had recently moved to Chicago, Illinois, nobody would be friends with her. Katie has everything pokemon. Pokemon folders, pokemon posters, pokemon dolls, pokemon wallpaper, pokemon blankets, pokemon everything. Because of this, she has no friends. The only comfort she has is her pokemon stuff. Everyday, she plays Ruby, Sapphire, Colosseum, well, pretty much all of the pokemon games. Katie was not having a very good time in Chicago. One day at school, Katie was at lunch, when suddenly she felt this huge thing surge through her mind. It was a really weird feeling. She looked up from her food. During looking up, she saw a group of girls pointing at her and giggling. Katie became angry at this, but did nothing about it. She went back to eating and ignored the odd feeling. During homeroom, she drew pokemon and the characters. Katie was in middle school. Having no friends, this was a big problem. There were bullies that picked on her in P.E. Katie looked at her watch and sighed a depressing sigh. P.E. was next period. Katie was a very athletic, very smart student that was an outcast just because of what she liked. At P.E., The two bullies were waiting for her right outside of the girls’ locker room. One was a short, blonde haired girl. The other was her boyfriend, a blonde with a real attitude problem. "Hey, loser," the boy, named Chad, said. "Listen, please just leave me alone today, I’m not in the mood to be pestered," Katie replied. Katie quickly turned her head away from them, waving her long, black hair. "Well too bad, because, like, we’re going to," The girl, named Tina said. Chad continued with, "If you don’t like it go get one of your little poke- friends to help." "Please leave me alone!" Katie said, irritated. Katie quickly walked away again, this time faster. So Chad and Tina went faster. Katie started running. They couldn’t catch up with her, but they screamed instead. Katie wished she could bring a pokemon to attack them. When Katie got home, she noticed that it wasn’t nearly as quiet as it usually was. There was a ruckus coming from her room. Katie was a bit frightened, but she slowly went into her room full of pokemon stuff. Katie hoped that her favorite toy, her electronic talking Pikachu, wasn’t damaged. She peeked in her room through the crack in the door. She saw that her room was a mess. Things were thrown everywhere. Katie heard a rumbling noise from inside her room. The hair on her neck stood on end. She saw the thing that was trashing her room. Another rumble came from it. Katie gulped and opened the door a little bit more. Then, she heard a loud cry come from the small yellow figure. It shouted, "CHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!" After it stopped screaming, Katie looked at it. It was crying. It was very hungry. But, most of all, it was… A pikachu? "Cool!" Katie said. Katie opened the door all the way. She began encountering the pikachu, but then she thought that it would be best to gain it’s trust first. "Uhh, wait here," Katie said. Katie rushed to the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the refrigerator. She rushed back into the room. Another loud rumble came from pikachu’s belly. Before it could cry again, Katie said, "Here take this and eat it. Don’t cry, little guy, I’ll take care of you." Pikachu sniffed the apple, took a small bite of it and said a happy little, "Pika!" "I’m Katie. Wow, I can’t believe it! A real pikachu!" Katie said. "Chu?" "This is awesome! I’ll call you… ummm…" Katie couldn’t decide what to nickname this pikachu. Pikachu wasn’t paying much attention to what she was saying. He was happily munching and gnawing on the green apple which Katie had given it. Pikachu stopped and looked at her. He had apple all over his face. Katie couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "Pika?" Pikachu said, but then shrugged and went back to eating. Later, Katie was still deciding what to call this pikachu. "I know! I’ll call you Corey!" Corey had finished his apple. A few other names Katie had tried, but pikachu didn’t like them, so they were not considered again. Instead, pikachu looked up at her and smiled a big smile. Before Katie did anything else, she grabbed the nearest textbook for school, and smacked it against her head. "Ow! Yay, It’s really real! But, I wonder… If this happened here, did it happen to the rest of the world? Did pokemon come to life?" Corey attracted her attention to him by creating a tiny bit of static with his red cheeks. Then, Corey nodded a ‘yes’. "It did? Are you sure?!" Katie asked, excited. Corey nodded again. "REALLY?! POKEMON ARE REAL NOW?!" Katie was really excited now. "Pikapi!" Corey replied, then went to pick out some good trainer clothes. "I’m gonna become a pokemon trainer!" Katie said, "With the help of Corey!" Corey jumped up and gave a happy and determined, "Pi!" Pokemon had become real. This was what Katie had always hoped for. Katie’s electronic talking pikachu was gone, but she had something even greater become of it… a friend and a partner.
