Prologue: A boy named Rictor, or Rick for short, is a pokemon trainer. However, unlike most trainers, he doesn’t want to be a pokemon master. He wants to hold in his hands all of the legendary birds. But he knows what will happen when Aricuno, Zapdos, and Moltres meet. Will he be able to achieve his goal while protecting the Earth from harm? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Part One Rick already had seven badges. He knew he would need to beat Giovanni in order to be able to even have a chance at catching Lugia. Rictor, or Rick for short, was amazed with legendary pokemon, but mostly, the legendary birds. His dream was to capture all of the legendary birds, including Ho-oh and Lugia. He had started with a Charmander, and now has a fully evolved Charizard. The only reason Rick even battles the gym leaders is for training against the birds. Right now, Rick is training in route 23, in water, hoping to find a good ice / water type. He suddenly got a call on his Poke-nav. "Rick speaking," Rick said. The other line said, "Yes. This is Lance, Dragon Master. We have a problem. We’ve recently noticed that Moltres has escaped Victory Road, and is now acting very strange." "Moltres?! How so?" Rick asked. "Well," Lance said, "It keeps screeching, breathing fire at nothing in particular. I think you, specializing in legendaries, might be able to help. I’m going over to the area to check it out. I can send Dragonair over if you need." "That’d be great, and, uhh, I wouldn’t exactly say I’m an expert," Rick replied, flattered, "I’ll gather up some water types real quick." Right outside Victory Road, there was a huge fire bird, much like a phoenix. It occasionally spit out a breath of flame and let out a roar. A trainer on a Dragonair was riding quickly toward it. Another trainer was on the ground not far away. Lance had his best Dragonite by his side, communicating with Moltres. Rick flew down next to Lance. After returning Dragonair, Lance asked, "Do you know what could be wrong?" "Articuno and Zapdos could be joined," Rick suggested. "What about Lugia? Nothing with it?" There was a silence for a few seconds, except for a screech from Moltres. "I’m not sure. I wish I knew." Lance asked, " Do you think you’d be able to catch Moltres now?" "Yes…" "Okay, then, go for it," Lance interrupted. "But I’m not going to," Rick finished. "Huh? Why not?" "Because Moltres is one of the easier ones to catch. If I catch Moltres first, then I’ll go get Articuno, then Zapdos, and that cannot happen. I need Lugia first," Rick explained. "I’ll at least weaken it, to try to calm it down," Lance said, "Dragonite, charge for a Hyper Beam!" Moltres was directly in front of Lance and Dragonite, an easy target. "No! You can’t!" Rick shouted. But it was too late. Dragonite had fired, but Rick jumped in front of the blast of energy, knocking him back almost ten feet from Moltres, who hadn’t felt a thing. "Oh my God!" Lance shouted, and immediately after rushed toward Rick. "Rick! Rick!" Lance said, shaking him gently. "Ugghh…" After about three minutes, Lance was getting worried. Then, Rick began to open his eyes. Rick said gently, "Heh. Heheh." Lance said, "Thank goodness! Rick!" Rick opened his eyes fully now. He shot up, then stood up. "I’m… alive?" Rick asked to himself, "I’m alive!" He was getting louder with each word he said. Rick began to scream he was so happy. Rick continued, "I’m alive! I’m alive! Can you hear me, world? I’M ALIVE!" With his shouting, Moltres was beginning to become annoyed, but was intrigued that Rick was able to withstand the attack. Lance, after Rick was over his victory, was able to ask him, "Why did you stand in the way?" "Because a major disturbance among the legendary birds would not be accepted, and either would summon the other two, or make the one attacked angry, causing destruction to surrounding towns. That’s why," Rick explained. There was a silence from Lance, as strange as it seemed. Then, two simple words came out of Lance’s mouth. "I’m sorry." "What?" Rick said. "I wasn’t thinking clearly. I guess I was too excited, being directly looking at one of the world’s most amazing pokemon," Lance admitted. "Anyway, do you think you could take me to Johto? I want to try to catch Lugia. I’ll call you after I beat Giovanni, then you can take me. How does that sound?" Rick asked. "Sure, I don’t see any harm in it. Besides, I always try to help trainers achieve their dreams," Lance responded. "Okay, then. I’ll see you after I beat Giovanni. See you later, Moltres," Rick said, at the end looking at the grand phoenix. Back at Viridian City, Rick was preparing for his battle with the final gym leader of Kanto. Rick couldn’t wait to have the opportunity to capture the mighty Lugia. But was it even possible? Would Rick even stand a fraction of a chance? (( Please review at RaikouTheGreat@aol.com ))
