“Well, for all we know, the culprit may be anyone. Even someone who we think is on our side,” Diana said. “I see,” Faulkner said. “In fact, if you want, I can try to help,” Wingtaker insisted, “Now that I’m not stealing anymore, I might try helping people who have stolen pokemon.” “That would help us a lot. Thank you, Wingtaker,” Diana replied. “Well, alright,” Faulkner said, “But I still have my eyes on you.” “I know where some possible hiding places may be. There aren’t many, but there are a few. And, how many people have you engaged since this occurred?” Wingtaker implied. Diana said, “Well, we were going to inform the manager at the hotel, but we decided we’d better not. We went to Sabrina, who might have seen it. She said she was in a battle last night, and didn’t. And before that, Faulkner called Winona, who told us about you. That’s about it.” “Great, two people,” Wingtaker said sarcastically. “Well then what do you suggest we do?” Faulkner barked. “I think we should call Professor Oak,” Wingtaker replied. Both Diana and Faulkner were confused. “Professor Oak, how could he help?” Diana asked. Wingtaker responded, “He knows a lot about pokemon, that’s obvious enough. In a situation like this, you can usually go to him and he can do some thinking on who would want what pokemon. Because Faulkner is a gym leader, after all, I’m positive Professor Oak would be more than welcome to help.” “Good point,” Diana said. After telling Professor Oak what had happened, he said, “This is truly terrible. I’ll start right away.” He got into a computer chair, and began looking for Faulkner’s main pokemon in some files. We wouldn’t leave until we found something, and we knew we had to wait. Faulkner was getting worried. Diana walked over and sat next to him. Faulkner was seated farthest from Wingtaker and Professor Oak, looking out a window. You couldn’t see much through it, because it was lightly raining. Diana sat across from him, but Faulkner didn’t look over like he usually did. “Don’t worry. We’ll find them and get them back,” Diana reassured. Faulkner sighed and said, “I’m not sure. It’s already been almost a day. They could be captured by Team Rocket, or Wingtaker could be lying, or it could be Winona covering up, or…” Diana cut him off by placing a finger over his mouth. She said, “Don’t worry,” She leaned over and they kissed, “Now let’s get some rest. The research could be a while, and we’re all getting tired.” Professor Oak had overheard and said, “Sure. There is an extra room on the right hand side, with three beds. You three can stay in there for the night.” “Thank you,” Faulkner said. Diana and Faulkner went into the room and prepared for bed, while Wingtaker stayed watching Professor Oak. Wingtaker heard footsteps coming toward them, and was cautious. He noticed that Oak was completely calm, but couldn’t help but look back to find out who it was. It was no more than Tracey, who asked, “Hey, Professor, can I help in any way?” “Yes, Tracey. Get out the pokemon books and look up some bird pokemon,” Oak said. Tracey walked over to a bookshelf and pulled out a research book titled ‘The logic of Flying Types’, and began searching for some common flying types used. Wingtaker continued watching Oak as he was through watching Tracey look for some birds, which wasn’t long. Professor Oak thought out loud, “I know I’m forgetting one of Faulkner’s pokemon. Which one is it?” “Fearow?” Tracey suggested. Oak shook his head. “What about Pigeot?” Tracey tried again. Oak said, “No.” “Dodrio?” “No.” “Skarmory?” “No.” “Farfetch’d?” “No.” “Delibird…?” “No.” “I’m running out,” Tracey said. Wingtaker said, “I’m a master at bird pokemon, let me try.” Professor Oak, without hesitation, cleared the seat for Wingtaker. Wingtaker sat down, and headed off to work. Meanwhile, Sabrina continued watching them through her powers. She was having a practice battle in her mind, and chose some pokemon she didn’t have. She was a psychic gym leader, and used psychic pokemon. But because she was in Kanto, she couldn’t use pokemon from Johto. She used, however, in her mental battle: Espeon, Stantler, Xatu, and Noctowl. She opened her eyes and grinned evilly. “Soon, I hope to have them all,” Sabrina thought to herself. Back at Oak’s Lab, it was very late. Wingtaker insisted that Tracey and Oak go to sleep, which after a while, they did. Diana and Faulkner had been asleep for about an hour, and Wingtaker was still researching. He was tired, and he knew he couldn’t do this all night. Eventually, he gave up and went to bed, not quite finishing the bird pokemon of Kanto. Wingtaker promised to himself that he would be up at six sharp and be back on the files, doing research again. The next morning, at six sharp, Wingtaker was up, researching again. It was 6:30 when he finally got to Johto pokemon, where he discovered, after a minute of thought, who the culprit was.
